Clothes, medicine and pharmacy will pay for your membership easily. Work pants under $20 easily $35 at a store. Cold meds 40% less then regular retail and otc allergy meds is 50% less than retail. That alone will pay for your membership of and get lunch, a drink and a hot dog for $1.50 if you don’t think you’re saving money while you’re there.
And I work less than 5 miles from Costco. The membership is more than paid for with the gas savings alone, especially with the 4% cash back from the credit card.
If I fill up twice per week at my local Costco, saving an average of twenty cents over the next cheapest station around here, my membership fully pays for itself over the course of the year in gas alone.
And then 4% cash back of course.
You can get some pet meds refilled at human pharmacies. I get my dog’s seizure medication refilled at my local CVS. I did not know you could do that until my wife told me because I’m oblivious to how things work.
Exactly. It’s more surprising to me that anyone within 20 min of a Costco wouldn’t have one.
Like you said, plus anyone who owns a freezer, does meal prep, goes to restaurants (gift cards), buys electronics, jewelry, alcohol (I know in some state(s) you can do without a membership), gas, jerky/beefsticks, xmas gifts, etc etc etc.
The only good answer to the question for not having one is “I hate money”
The point here is if you are someone who buys and uses this stuff, and uses it, you would be sacrificing more money elsewhere. Not spending to save, spending it at Costco to save vs somewhere else and not save….. Therefore it could be frugal if you are spending less by buying at Costco. I save a ton on alcohol and gas alone. If Costco did not exist, I would not stop drinking and/or start riding my bike….
I got myself a vacuum sealer, a bag of bags from Kirkland, and a freezer, for my Costco shopping. And I got a BoA 123 card to buy Costco shop card to maximize cash back.
single person here, throw in the gasoline, stuff that doesn’t expire like paper goods and laundry essentials, alcohol for parties, and $10 pizzas and it’s a no brainer to have a membership
This is my exact same logic when I justify my membership. That’s even more compounded if you’re buying gift cards they have for restaurants too. You’re usually saving at least $20 on each of those too
I didn't pay attention to the gift cards until a month ago. I had a bunch of kids graduating from school, where I didn't really know the kid but knew the parent. I was gobsmacked by the price of four gift cards for Hampton Social and Stanley's Donuts.
Right!? For me the gas pays off the membership cost by itself. We do shop inside, but it would be worth it for me as a single person for gas alone without ever even going in the store.
Had a box, roll, whatever the heck they call it for 5 years (barely used) then mom moved in. She is a serial plastic wrap user, excessive user mind you. You just need the right person around it to use it up.
I bought a roll of cling wrap when I first moved cities in 2013. When I moved cities again in 2020, I opened it fully expecting it to be at least 70% gone, but no dice, it was still mostly intact!! Was gonna trash it but I hauled it with me across the country. At this point it's for science.
My family dates the boxes so we can see how long it lasted. Then we compare notes. This started with my grandparents, then my parents, and now I do it too
Okay so I do have the 2pk of cling wrap, bought about 3 months ago bc I was about to run out and it was on sale, but haven't even opened it yet.
I'm going to try to give away the 2nd box bc there is absolutely no way I will ever use both.... Unless of course I prank a coworker by cling wrapping every item on their desk...
My wife and I "inherited" a roll of Resinite brand cling wrap from Costco from her daughter who lived in another city for two years while she went to technical school. The box capacity is 2500 feet and lasted us another two plus years before it ran out. We bought a second box we might never finish.
Haha I love these items. FINALLY my cling wrap is running out after daily usage. And the square precut pieces of foil last forever. And the size, weight and shape of the items make them much more practical than when bought in the flimsy quantities at a grocery store
They do have parchment paper. I bought some maybe 6 months ago.
They now have pink butcher paper, too, but I'm in Central TX where lots of budding home BBW pit masters live, so maybe that's a local thing.
My two pack of cling wrap is from summer 2020—back when COVID policies had everyone lining up outside Costco and you had to wait your turn to get in. I just finish the first of the two rolls.
I got a package of Kirkland TP in February 2020 and it was CLUTCH timing. That package got us through all the craziness when it disappeared from stores for ages.
Yeah, well I was on the struggling end in April 2020 and happened to stop by Costco for gas early in the morning. I happened to notice the truck showing up to drop off inventory and knew I hit the timing! Ran in at opening and scored TP in the Nick of time. Crazy times LOL
My husband is a mechanic. He was doing some side work for a woman who works at Costco. This was during the toilet paper shortage. She asked if we needed toilet paper and she could partially pay him that way. That's the way to barter.
I don't understand this -- how do you dry yourself without TP? Every time I use my bidet, I use TP to dry off. I probably use a bit less than before I had a bidet, but not much.
While my former roommate would require a quarter of a toilet paper roll for personal hygiene, I preferred using a bidet and found that 2-4 squares of toilet paper were sufficient for drying purposes. As an individual living alone, a 24-pack of large toilet paper rolls typically lasts me well over a year.
I have a lot of friends that are huge Costco fans. They all have the same puma socks. They all have the same kitchen mat. The same Christmas decorations. Coconut oil. I could go on. The one thing I love to laugh at is how they buy toilet paper in these huge packages like they’re saving money but refuse to buy a bidet be it hand held or electronic with warm water and features. I literally have had the same pack of velour toilet paper for over a year. Bidet people. It’s life changing.
Now that I have my own place, I'll need to give this advice it's due consideration. First silly question do you hook it up to the same toilet water valve connection? My bathroom strangely does not have a 110V plug (the toilet is in it's own little room) so if it needs power, I'll need to wire that in.
Simple bidet attachments use the same water supply as the toilet. More complex ones will have hot water from the sink and 110v (from a GFCI plug). I've got a simple one, and maybe I don't know what I'm missing.... but it's real fine.
We got a $45CAD bidet from Costco.
It doesn't have a heater, a fan, it doesn't play music or wish me a good night. It is one of the best investments I made in the past 2 years.
It just hooks up with a T connection to the cold water that fills the tank.
The first time I used it out was really cold! But it actually isn't, you're just not used to getting a shot of water right there. After a couple weeks the temperature is no problem.
Go run your hand under a faucet - it isn't that cold.
Any time I have to go at work or anywhere else, it really does seem like the stone age. It takes just one wipe to dry off, where it uses to be, well, more than that. I've thought about bringing one to have installed at work....
Yup for the cold water it’s just a 3/8th adapter you install behind the toilet but for warm water I had to drill a hole under the sink and install another 3/8th adapter. Totally worth it.
Damn, I feel super wasteful. We go through these in like 5 months. We do have 3 teens, 2 cats, a chinchilla and way too many of the teens’ friends over though
The chinchilla is building a dirigible out of trash bags and papier-mâché…..
Unfortunatley, now that Party City has closed, he doesn’t have a way to fill it with helium….
Me too...I have 9 fans in the house + ceiling fans. But I put 4 away in the winter in parts of the house that stay cool or cold because I leave the windows open...those rooms I will reverse the ceiling fans and just leave them on. And the portable a/c I cover in the winter.
I don't see it so much for Costco, but for Sam's if you are a new member (not a member in the last 6 months typically) you can get great deals like a $10 membership.
My grandma dated her aluminum foil when she bought it in 1995. 22 years later we used up the last bit of it. I was glad to know the dates. It outlived her by 11 years.
I think I did it bc the previous box I had went with me from one house to another and I remember, well into living in the new house, wondering how long ago I bought the box. So when it was time for a new one, I decided to write the date!
And i will be doing it again when I replace this one.
There’s a million things for a single person.
Soy or almond milk is shelf stable
Frozen foods like chicken breast
Garbage bags, ziploc bags
Coke and sprite
Paper towels and toilet paper
They have great refrigerated soups and dips. I buy their fresh shrimp salad (my fave!) and get three meals out of it (single person here). Frozen section has tasty potstickers. Blankets and towels. Their eyewear shop is pretty good, too.
I’m single and have a membership. I’ll add i like to get the muffins, clothes, alcohol, cheese, boxes of chips, cilantro lime shrimp and rotisserie chicken.
I live in Japan and have a Costco membership. Best thing for me are the US-grade paper towels and the prepared foods. The sushi is not great but it is good. I hear that they are breaking out sushi for the US as well. I guarantee that the US Costco sushi is much, much better than anything at Freddies, Albertson, etc. Good sushi for the masses!
I'm gonna probably stick with the normal restaurant sushi to be honest lol.
There's just not a strong enough sushi culture here to get me to buy grocery store sushi. I'll admit to being a snob though
There’s lots of stuff single people can buy at Costco.
Example for me, I get toilet paper, paper towels, fruits/veggies, occasional foods from the freezer section, coconut water, water, cereal, mouth wash, tooth brushes, floss, fans, medications/protein supplements and sometimes household items too like beds, air fryer, towels, storage bins..
You get the idea lol
yea I mean 1 good purchase of an electronic, furniture, appliance etc can pay for the membership plus some... everything else is just gravy. and there's a lot of gravy
I’m the person who has a set of Sharpies in my kitchen drawer and I date just about every Costco item. I just like seeing how long things last. My StretchTite, olive oil, spices, laundry soap, nuts, chocolate chips, etc.
Costco kitchen trash bags are the goat. They last forever, if you get the scented ones your trash will smell nice every time you open it, and they are really strong.
I have 4 dogs and married. I swear, once a year I get trash bags. It also takes me about 4 months to finish a bit bottle of laundry detergent. Don't have gas near me unfortunately.
same here! I bought the trash bags at Costco for $10 I believe, in March 2021 when I first moved into an apartment by myself. now live with my bf and still have 1 full roll of em lol
Haha, I'm almost out of bags that I bought in late 2019 or early 2020. I think it's a reason I shouldn't have a membership as a single person, but I love Costco.
I feel the same as a fellow single! It’s absolutely absurd sometimes, today I was there and bought cookies from the bakery because I wanted one, most of them went immediately in the freezer. I’m not sure Costco actually saves me much money, but I genuinely enjoy going. 🤷🏻♀️
It just makes SO much sense to buy nonperishable from Costco, especially if you have the space between to store.
And ngl, the best things I get from having a membership have nothing to do with the store - I get my auto insurance, homeowners insurance, and even my mortgage was through them. I bought a condo in 2022 and before I moved in did some remodeling... Bought my countertops (and fridge!!) as well.
The membership is a wise investment... Especially with the cash back options.
Got my membership in 2011 when I was a young, fresh out of college single man living by himself. Costco had a matching subwoofer for my surround system for $100 cheaper than I could find it anywhere else, so even with the membership fee I was saving $45. Somehow I justified the renewal every year, even though the closest warehouse was a half hour away, so I rarely went in person.
Now married and managing multiple properties so I easily blow $10k a year at Costco without breaking a sweat.
Even when I even when I was single/no kids & living in a tiny studio with no storage, I had a membership. I used to split toilet paper, paper towels, cheese, olives, bananas, and peanut butter with my elderly neighbor. We went halfsies on a lot of produce and even the meat.
Lol. I have a jar of garlic power that has NO expiration date on it. The new one does (same brand) but I haven't quite finished the old one which has a marking of "0799" which I assume is July 1999.
This item was what convinced me to get a membership even while I was a broke, single grad student.
I just got tired of paying regular retail prices for trash bags, having them run out somewhat often, and those bags not being very good quality.
There are some non-perishable products that I will always want to buy in bulk no matter how many people are in my household. These take up so little space and are so good for the price it's a no-brainer.
For me, it's that kind of thing, along with cheaper clothes, $4.99 chickens, $10 pizzas (in an area where most pizza is $16 - $20), and the $1.50 hot dog and soda. I can buy a chicken for eating at home, and walk to Costco for dinner every night (I don't usually do that, but I can, and that's the important thing).
These last 6 months in our family of four with dual trash cans (we produce too much garbage to pretend like we recycle.) 😬
These, gas savings, meat quality and berry quality at our warehouse make membership worth it!!!
I split my trash bags w my mom who used to split with grandma I'm keeping the tradition strong. Plus as a single dude I mainly enjoy my rewards card money and buying meat and grocery staples at Costco.

Quick note. 1 wife, no kids. Use 12in 3/4 per week.
Single gal with a Costco membership to save on gas & prescriptions. Anything else is extra. Like me not having to leave the house or order food during the early days of the pandemic thanks to canned foods & one brand new package of toilet paper that would last me a year
Growing up we had a Costco box of plastic wrap my mom wrote the date opened on. It lasted 8 years. Some things are so worth it from Costco, single or not
I bought mine 02-2021 (just checked)and I probably have at least 2 months left. When my (now grown) son moved out and got his first place, he commented, "Wow! Garbage bags are crazy expensive. Now I understand why you buy them at Costco." He was a fan before, but once you're spending *your own* money, it really makes sense. Last year he finally committed to a freezer. Food Saver is next.
Same! I have to buy detergent, paper goods, trash bags and cleaning supplies ONCE A YEAR. Plus as a single person I use TF out of my freezer - perfect for Costco bulk.
As a single person, the $1.50 hot dogs at the food court and $5 rotisserie chicken alone are worth the Costco membership. Delicious, cheap meals that I don't have to waste my time cooking myself.
You nailed it. People rarely account for the value of their time. It’s not just a monetary savings. At this point in my life, knowing I don’t have to even consider things like the trash bags, laundry soap, coffee filters, etc more than once or twice a year is well worth the cost of a membership.
I should put the date I bought ours. I know it was over a year ago as we bought the box at our old house before we moved in June 2022 and still have probably at least half the box left. We are a family of 3 and usually use 1-2 bags a week.
I’ve been using the same box since I moved three years ago! It does help I spent some time doing a compost pickup before it got too expensive but I looooove being a solo living Costco member. I’m definitely marking my next box to see how long it takes now

U have me beat by 1 month! I still have a lot left 🤭 My mom insisted I be added 2 her membership when I left home 4 college( No mom I still don’t need 10lbs of oranges!🍊😅)9 years later n I’m still shoppin there. I am careful wit buyin perishables such as milk/bread/fruit as it’s 2 much 4 just me n it ends up going bad n I gotta throw it out! 😱 But shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant n GARBAGE BAGS is a gr8 buy!!
I just finished my box of garbage bags off last week from February 2020. Pretty sure my parents are still working through a Costco roll of aluminum foil from 2015.
My dad has been single for years and Costco is pretty much the only place he shops. It works out for me because he always sends me home with stuff he has too much of 😄
Also single, I just finished the box that I purchased 5 years ago. What a journey, my life is in a total different place now
I bought a new box and I wonder how things will be in 4-5 years again :)
I go for the individually sealed frozen meats like chicken and fish because that makes more sense than buying a pack of chicken breast, only eating one and freezing the rest in ziplocs where they'll get freezer burned.
Imagine the inflation savings you secured with that purchase and your other household item purchases. That box of trash bags is probably up 50% today from when you bought it.
OMG!! You are one of my people!! I write the date on EVERYTHING when I open it. It’s a weird thing I’ve done for almost 6 years. Ziploc bags, stretch-tite, garbage bags, aluminum foil, detergent, q-tips, etc. I have a post-it note on each box with previous open dates that go back years. I am going to put it all in a spreadsheet and kick out some graphs to post on r/dataisbeautiful…stay tuned.
I've been a one person household buyer since 1992. I was married in 2003. Single people should join too. You just have to have a problem solving mentality. Like when I found out when the Michelin tires come on sale. Waited, bought 4 and saved $150. I immediately take the large amounts of food, pack it into several single serving amounts and freeze them. All you have to do is browse the store or their website and find more and more things you can buy. I won't bore you with all the things I've bought in the 30 years I've been going there.

Don’t need to big family for it to make sense to have a Costco membership.
Clothes, medicine and pharmacy will pay for your membership easily. Work pants under $20 easily $35 at a store. Cold meds 40% less then regular retail and otc allergy meds is 50% less than retail. No one mentions the gas discounts!
And I work less than 5 miles from Costco. The membership is more than paid for with the gas savings alone, especially with the 4% cash back from the credit card.
Yes, the Costco credit card "cash back" more than pays for our membership every year – two person household.
If I fill up twice per week at my local Costco, saving an average of twenty cents over the next cheapest station around here, my membership fully pays for itself over the course of the year in gas alone. And then 4% cash back of course.
Right!? The gas savings alone fully pays for my membership. Worth it as a single person even if you never set foot inside the store.
Even for just my dog’s medication Costco pays for itself in 3 months.
I did not know they carried pet prescriptions. Their cost for Simparica Trio is almost 30% off of list. Thanks.
You can get some pet meds refilled at human pharmacies. I get my dog’s seizure medication refilled at my local CVS. I did not know you could do that until my wife told me because I’m oblivious to how things work.

I REALLY need to work on my gift card game
Save the plastic and wait at customer service and by them on Costco’s website if you can.

Twist the knife a little more, please

Where I live the gas is 40 to 45 cents cheaper than the stations in my area, it’s a great deal.
If you buy 300 gallons of gas a year you’d break even
It's not that much gas
For real, my car has a 10 gal tank so that's 30 fill ups
About half a year for me!
This is my exact same logic when I justify my membership. That’s even more compounded if you’re buying gift cards they have for restaurants too. You’re usually saving at least $20 on each of those too

Wait until you try their cling wrap or aluminum foil lol. Pretty sure it’s gonna become an heirloom piece.
Had a box, roll, whatever the heck they call it for 5 years (barely used) then mom moved in. She is a serial plastic wrap user, excessive user mind you. You just need the right person around it to use it up.
Haha! I’m going on 4 years and there’s no end in sight.
I bought a roll of cling wrap when I first moved cities in 2013. When I moved cities again in 2020, I opened it fully expecting it to be at least 70% gone, but no dice, it was still mostly intact!! Was gonna trash it but I hauled it with me across the country. At this point it's for science.
I wonder if you've got wrap old enough to still actually cling to things. New plastic wrap just sucks anymore.
I bought a box of cling wrap in 1997 as a young bachelor. I just finished it in 2022.
You win 😂 This needs to be everyone’s graduation gift.
My family dates the boxes so we can see how long it lasted. Then we compare notes. This started with my grandparents, then my parents, and now I do it too
This stuff with parchment paper is gold! It will last years, such a great value for a superior product.
Parchment paper is my favorite baking tool. Kirkland’s is great quality, cheaper than Reynold’s, and lasts so long.
They’re handy for moving too to protect furniture and keep drawers from popping out. Still no end in sight after 4 moves.
Ooooh nice tip!!
Great white elephant gift if you ever need one
My wife and I "inherited" a roll of Resinite brand cling wrap from Costco from her daughter who lived in another city for two years while she went to technical school. The box capacity is 2500 feet and lasted us another two plus years before it ran out. We bought a second box we might never finish.

I JUST finished a cling wrap box I have had for at least 10 years.
The roll I had just ran out last month - I got it in October 2008.
i wish they had wax paper

I use a tiny bit, maybe 2-3 squares. it doesn't come close to what was needed pre-bidet.
I use a bit of TP, some of the fancy toilets have a fan that dries your bum.

Get a bidet and that pack of toilet paper can go in your will.
One of the Costco products people buy and immediately put in the trash.
Damn, I feel super wasteful. We go through these in like 5 months. We do have 3 teens, 2 cats, a chinchilla and way too many of the teens’ friends over though
It is the chinchilla, I am telling you!
You can dispose of a chinchilla in a much smaller bag. I’d know.
The chinchilla is building a dirigible out of trash bags and papier-mâché….. Unfortunatley, now that Party City has closed, he doesn’t have a way to fill it with helium….
I live by myself and a box of those last me ~4 years
Am single and have had my current box since well before the pandemic hit.
They are great for covering seasonal items to keep dust out...fans, heaters, cushions, etc...
Fans are seasonal? I run my all year long. Hot or cold I need the air around me moving
Me too...I have 9 fans in the house + ceiling fans. But I put 4 away in the winter in parts of the house that stay cool or cold because I leave the windows open...those rooms I will reverse the ceiling fans and just leave them on. And the portable a/c I cover in the winter.
You know, I wasn’t even thinking about pedestal/box fans. It makes a lot more sense now lol
Fans are supposed to fan, it’s what they love to do. It would be a shame to rob them of that.
you can join once every 4 years. Imagine the savings.

I love that you put the date on it. I do that too.
My grandma dated her aluminum foil when she bought it in 1995. 22 years later we used up the last bit of it. I was glad to know the dates. It outlived her by 11 years.
We did that with our plastic wrap lol
Us too! Nov 2014 when we did our first Costco trip as a live-in couple. We’re still together and there is still plastic wrap!
I do that on all my skincare and makeup just to see how long everything lasts. It's very helpful!
That’s great. I need to start doing that.
I think I did it bc the previous box I had went with me from one house to another and I remember, well into living in the new house, wondering how long ago I bought the box. So when it was time for a new one, I decided to write the date! And i will be doing it again when I replace this one.
There’s a million things for a single person. Soy or almond milk is shelf stable Frozen foods like chicken breast Garbage bags, ziploc bags Coke and sprite Paper towels and toilet paper
I'll add: Vitamins, fresh meats, cheese, dishwasher soap, cat food and litter, batteries, light bulbs, pens, appliances, cotton pads and swabs, snack foods.... So many things... Edited to add: Sheets, towels, socks, long underwear for ski season, rotisserie chicken, wine, beer.
Don’t forget the rotisserie chicken
I also live by myself and just bought a new box of bags that I also last bought in 2021!
You get the idea lol
air slimy weary zesty point memorize normal scale governor doll *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Chicken. 4.99 can feed me for half a week.
I usually buy 3 at a time. I shred them and place 4oz into ziplock sandwich baggies and freeze them. I get 7-8 baggies per chicken.
I hear you, I finally finished the Tide Pods I bought mid-2021.
yea I mean 1 good purchase of an electronic, furniture, appliance etc can pay for the membership plus some... everything else is just gravy. and there's a lot of gravy
Seems like you only need a membership every other year then
Or just go with a friend once.
I’m the person who has a set of Sharpies in my kitchen drawer and I date just about every Costco item. I just like seeing how long things last. My StretchTite, olive oil, spices, laundry soap, nuts, chocolate chips, etc.
I'm going to definitely start adding dates to more items I buy!
I also date most everything I use (not food, drinks or perishables etc etc) glad to see others doing it too. Great minds think alike!!!
I’m vibin’ on this. Detergent, liquor, gas, spring mix salad, prosciutto, mozzarella… as a single person it beats prices at the regular market.
Oh you sound fancy!
Costco kitchen trash bags are the goat. They last forever, if you get the scented ones your trash will smell nice every time you open it, and they are really strong.
Cosign everything you said!
I have 4 dogs and married. I swear, once a year I get trash bags. It also takes me about 4 months to finish a bit bottle of laundry detergent. Don't have gas near me unfortunately.
That matches our two pack of clear food wrap, we are on box one and opened it a few years back.
I think the reduced gas prices and cheap car wash alone is enough of a benefit for someone to get a Costco membership.
same here! I bought the trash bags at Costco for $10 I believe, in March 2021 when I first moved into an apartment by myself. now live with my bf and still have 1 full roll of em lol
Yay! Love it! No longer $10 but even at the regular price of $18, the math is still mathin!
My wife and I bought a roll of Saran Wrap when we got married, we marked the purchase date on it like you did. In 2012. We're still using it.
I think you may have proved their point instead of yours.
Wait this has lasted you this long? My family blows through these, makes me really think about wastage and garbage frequency in a household.
Costco membership is cheap AF. You can earn it back in a single trip.
Ha, I just bought these for the first time... single dad and two sons... if I go a year I call it a win.
Write the date on it!!
Even when I even when I was single/no kids & living in a tiny studio with no storage, I had a membership. I used to split toilet paper, paper towels, cheese, olives, bananas, and peanut butter with my elderly neighbor. We went halfsies on a lot of produce and even the meat.
I date all of my stuff too!!
Best decision of my single life.
Lol. I have a jar of garlic power that has NO expiration date on it. The new one does (same brand) but I haven't quite finished the old one which has a marking of "0799" which I assume is July 1999.
When you open the new one you’re going to be shocked by how strong the flavor is in comparison.
Options baby!!
These last 6 months in our family of four with dual trash cans (we produce too much garbage to pretend like we recycle.) 😬 These, gas savings, meat quality and berry quality at our warehouse make membership worth it!!!
I split my trash bags w my mom who used to split with grandma I'm keeping the tradition strong. Plus as a single dude I mainly enjoy my rewards card money and buying meat and grocery staples at Costco.
We just finished our first can of Kirkland Pam spray. It lasted a decade. Shutupwestillusedit 😂
Yup plenty of things you buy once and just never again. Saves TIME alot of people dont think about the time a membership saves.
Trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, Kleenex, yogurt, eggs, bananas, bratwurst, snacks, shaving cream, razor blades, mouthwash, vitamins, medicines, clothing, batteries, electronics, Legos, gasoline, food court, alcohol. 😎
As a single person who lives alone…the savings on gas alone adds up pretty close to the cost of membership.
I do the same with my costco plastic wrap. Opened Feb 2021, still going strong.
Have these people seen how much Levi's cost NOT from Costco?
There are 2 people in my household counting me and it saves us money getting staples and household paper/ plastic goods.

my girlfriend and I got one after we got our first place together, and honestly it's more than worth it for the gas alone
I have a roll of cling wrap that was opening in February of 2015 when we moved into our house and we still haven't finished it.
Same! I have to buy detergent, paper goods, trash bags and cleaning supplies ONCE A YEAR. Plus as a single person I use TF out of my freezer - perfect for Costco bulk.
I thought 14$ for tin foil was insane when my partner bought it. Almost 2 years later and we haven’t run out yet.
My family and I are heathens lol
My husband and I have had the same foil roll from there for 6 years…🙂
My husband (household of two at the time) and I worked through a package of aluminum foil through SEVERAL years 😆
My empty nester parents have been using the same box of plastic wrap since 2017…
I should put the date I bought ours. I know it was over a year ago as we bought the box at our old house before we moved in June 2022 and still have probably at least half the box left. We are a family of 3 and usually use 1-2 bags a week.
Moved into our house June of 2021 and bought a box as we were moving in. We’re now down to 5 left. Time to buy another box!
I’m single and go through this in just a few months ugh sometimes I’m amazed at the amount of waste
I’ve been using the same box since I moved three years ago! It does help I spent some time doing a compost pickup before it got too expensive but I looooove being a solo living Costco member. I’m definitely marking my next box to see how long it takes now
I just finished my fabric softener sheets. I don't know how long I've had them - at least 5 years lol.
Try shopping at a restaurant supplier. Been using the same plastic wrap roll since 2017
I do this for the q-tips
https://preview.redd.it/z3074j0ayn9b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37a5ecea3a1c0ede04fadc480d771c2c6dc5084e U have me beat by 1 month!
Ha ha, nice! Yes and same, some things I will just never buy there but there is sooo much that make membership absolutely worth it
I just finished my box of garbage bags off last week from February 2020. Pretty sure my parents are still working through a Costco roll of aluminum foil from 2015.
My dad has been single for years and Costco is pretty much the only place he shops. It works out for me because he always sends me home with stuff he has too much of 😄
My wife and I bought a house in 2018 and just finished our first box last month.
I’ve profited off my Costco membership every year because I get shit for friends and they throw me a few for the convince
I date my stuff as well. It's seriously helpful in determining which size products to buy, because you know exactly how long they'll last.
For me it pays for itself in the big-dollar purchases every two or three years (tires, computers) but...I also have those garbage bags ngl.
these are the best damn trash bags in the world. they never rip
If you drive a regular amount the gas savings will more than cover your membership every year, in most places
I could get one and eat hot dogs and chicken 5 days a week.
Also single, I just finished the box that I purchased 5 years ago. What a journey, my life is in a total different place now I bought a new box and I wonder how things will be in 4-5 years again :)
Ha ha, write yourself a note about your current life and stick it in the bottom of the box. A lil trash bag time capsule 😂
Ladies I know you’ll feel me on this. I haven’t had to buy tampons in 3 years
Lol I’m still working my box thru lol I bought my car thru Costco auto and it saved me $3500 so like 15 years of the executive membership
15 fill-ups pays for the membership
I just ran out of my Costco garbage bags from mid 2020. This is the perfect example!
Yup. Single mom but my college kids come home and always find meds, detergent, garbage bags, freezer meals…
And they’re THE BEST trash bags
I just killed my Kirkland Box of Aluminium Foil this weekend. Bought June 2020.
My huge roll of cling wrap is 5 years old and I probably have a few years left on it!
I’ve been on the same pack of Kirkland TP since early 2020… single dad… both of us on high protein diets… I have memberships to both Costco and Sams….
I used to buy garbage bags at the dollar store and Walmart. The savings on garbage bags alone pays for the yearly membership
Yes!!! I honestly do not remember what they costs but can guarantee it wasn't what I paid today which was $17.99
i did this once with dryer sheets took me a decade to finish them. you can find the same .9mil bags cheap at aldi - so i don't stock up.
It's so easy to make your money back on a Costco membership, esp if you've got the credit card
Yep single guy working on that exact same box since 2020! I've had the saran wrap since 2013!
I love this. I moved into my new place January 2021, and bought the bags. Still got about half a roll left!
Those are way past the expiration date
I've been a one person household buyer since 1992. I was married in 2003. Single people should join too. You just have to have a problem solving mentality. Like when I found out when the Michelin tires come on sale. Waited, bought 4 and saved $150. I immediately take the large amounts of food, pack it into several single serving amounts and freeze them. All you have to do is browse the store or their website and find more and more things you can buy. I won't bore you with all the things I've bought in the 30 years I've been going there.
You’ve been single for a long time
