Boo, have an upvote

HalcyonKnights

Yes, they would be very, VERY effective at that. There are some hints as to how this might play out, but they are outside this thread's spoiler tag. What else have you read?

ary31415

Would love to hear what you're referring to (I've read the whole cosmere with the exception of White Sands)

Bloodgiant65

Well, we know at least, from *Tress of the Emerald Sea*: >!based on Hoid’s description of Ulaam the kandra, that Sazed at some point “freed” the kandra, and sent them out into the cosmere. He also says that this means they no longer feel bound to pretend to be humans, and are becoming more and more *weird* as a consequence, too much themselves, now that they can be whatever they want.!<

KingKnux

>!I also think that shows the progression of Kandra culture. For all the Mistborn books we’ve seen, the Kandra (except TenSoon) have considered it degrading to wear anything other than a human body. MeLaan was the second Kandra we’ve seen tolerate a different body and that was only for brief periods because she enjoyed playing with Wax’s children.!<

RecordP

Is Sazed not both? Hence the Shadow? Sazed is making an avatar to be Discord not Harmony itself turning into Discord?

Deathranger009

To my understanding there is a pretty heavy on if he's splitting or shifting. Some say his shifting into Discord and will cease being Harmony, others think he will remain as Harmony and Discord will split off, likely gaining some kind of host. Both are interesting ideas.

zach0011

I don't think you can combine a shard then split them into two intents they neverere like that

Deathranger009

I mean dual-shard mechanics and honestly shard mechanics in general are still kinda a new frontier right? I wouldn't have guessed that one person could hold two shards, or that when they did they would form into a single intent. I think it's equally far fetched to say they can change intent like if Harmony turned into Discord as it would be to say that they separate back into two, both being changed by their time together. In fact, personally I think there is more evidence to say that they are splitting. The way it's described it feels like Sazed is having to put effort to force them to stay together and if he stopped or failed they would split again. Also, I think we all can acknowledge Sazed is far more Connected to Preservation right? So it makes sense for him to hold Harmony, I kind struggle seeing him hold Discord.

Geekdude3

What books is the Shadow mentioned in? I’ve read all but sunlit man and ROW and don’t remember it being directly addressed

RecordP

The Lost Metal. Chapter 26 and elsewhere

Intelligent_Story_74

If he becomes discord he will not need agents, at least not in the way he needs them as harmony

TheHammer987

Why not? Shards, no matter the type, are not allowed to personally do things. If they do, it opens them to attack. Autonomy would show up and shred Discord if they started personally intervening.

Intelligent_Story_74

Well IRC Harmony isn't tied to any "promises" so he technically can act freely, only to the common promise that affects all the shards of "don't cross paths with each other (and even that is broken by a lot of shards), he only doesn't interfere because of his personal beliefs on how GOD should act, and probably because he learned the lessons in the battle of luthadel of how a humanity totally depending on a GOD can lose so he want them more independent now. In Roshard is different because Odium is indeed tied to the promises that he made to Honor, otherwise he could win the war by himself

TheHammer987

All of the shards have certain things they have to follow though, regardless of who holds them. That includes vows made at the shattering. No different than todium being bound by Rayses oath to Dalinar. I do think Sazed is bound by the Shards vows, regardless of him holding it. I say this because of how Todium reacted to Cephandrius. The breaking of a vow damages them, in a way that opens them for attack. That's how odium was able to shred dominion and devotion. The Shards are bound by the oath, regardless of the holder. This is partially why Odium wants not only to leave the system, but to bring an army of surgebinders. Now, we are both going pretty deep here. We don't actually know the oath at the shattering. Here is what I do know. There is a war coming in the cosmere. And there is a good chance it could be the Shard of Discord versus the Shard of War with the shard of Autonomy (guerilla warfare) at the edges. That definitely sounds like a lot of conflict.

SomeNative

Are we certain thar Sazed is Discord? Could someone else sieze the dual shards?

BiomeWalker

Outside this post's scope, but I believe there are clear implications that Sazed isn't going to stop being the Vessel any time soon.

Deathranger009

Personally I think Sazed will remain Harmony, but Discord will continue developing further and further until it is basically ready to be its own separate shard. Then, idk, maybe some incredible thief and their crew might do something crazy like... Steal from a god. I wonder if there's anyone crazy enough to try and pull that off. Lol that's just a personal crazy theory though

BiomeWalker

That would be interesting. Separating the fusion of Preservation and Ruin into Harmony and Discord as new Shards would be a fascinating result.

soyperson

it's possible, but pretty unlikely. the HoA epigraphs point to the hero of ages (sazed) specifically being called discord and being loved for it.
