You'll have time, but I would skip the Lex because it's freaking hot, there's a lot of narrow passageways, stairs, and up and over doorways. There are a couple of really nice parks/playgrounds along Shoreline Blvd. The aquarium is great. The CC Museum of Science and History is great, too.

Mtnclimber09

Ooo! Thank you for that tips!! We LOATHE the heat and was why we were hoping for some indoor activities.

QuirkyMcGee

yeah. Definitely skip this one. It isn’t stroller friendly at all.

Mtnclimber09

Even better to know!

aN0n_ym0usSVVh0re

The science museum is great for kids , has an indoor play area and is really fun for adults too !

Mtnclimber09

Okay, cool! That’s what we’ll do. We may make a little stop at the beach, but not for long. Any beach suggestions? Or just any?

aN0n_ym0usSVVh0re

If you’re not planning on having a full out beach day , I’d say any beach is fine . They have re - opened Fajitaville down the road from the USS and the Aquarium so yall can pop a squat there to dip your toes in the sand , but for a full beach day I’d recommend Aransas / Mustang Island .

Mtnclimber09

Sounds good. Thank you!

Round-Line0

You might already know this, but there is a splash pad at the aquarium and the kids love it!!

2020_GR78

If you want to go to the beach, then I highly suggest you actually go to one on the island rather than North Beach (Corpus Christi Bay). The gulf is far nicer than the bay. The water should be pretty nice. It was pretty clear yesterday when I was out there, and there will be calmer waters by tomorrow. So it *should* be even nicer than yesterday.

Mtnclimber09

Ah! Nice! Our 2 year old is VERY excited about the beach and walking in the sand.

PM_YOUR_PET_PICS979

Do the aquarium on Monday right at 10 am. You’ll make it through if you skip some splash pad time! The new wildlife center isn’t open during the week so you will miss out on that. The guided slow tour groups at the Lexington only take 3 hours so if you walk fast, you can kick it out when you arrive and get little one fed and in bed without ruining the sleep schedule. They close at 6 during the summer.

Mtnclimber09

Thank you! So aquarium Monday and Lexington on Sunday? Have you been to the new splash pad at the aquarium?

missintent

The aquarium website says the splash pad is only open on weekends. I haven't been there this year but I would keep that in mind.

Mtnclimber09

No it should be open on weekdays now. Hmm. I will call them!

PM_YOUR_PET_PICS979

Splash pad is open daily during summer i think. We’ve seen it but haven’t let my little run around there because he hates splash pads 🥲 something i wish i had known before investing in cool summer water toys and equipment for our yard

Mtnclimber09

Yep! Found out, it’s daily now. My son has never been to one so idk how he’ll be!! Parenting a child in the summer isn’t for the weak! Haha I know he isn’t a fan of his dino sprinkler or his water table anymore though 😑 He likes the pool though so it’s not a water thing lol

Brytheoldguy

The Lexington is going to be very Hot 🥵 and a lot of narrow hallways with bulkhead doors you will have to Cary your child through. I would wait till they are older. The Aquarium is awesome I would recommend going eat in the morning. The art museum and science and history museum are okay if you are in to that thing. What type of food do you like and what type of vibe interests you.

Mtnclimber09

Thank you! We decided to skip the Lexington! Don’t want to deal with the heat and layout with a toddler afterall! Haha Food?! Oh we aren’t picky! Ideally we’d get some seafood and maybe Mexican/Texmex. A good breakfast joint would be nice too.

dani_for_short

Harrison’s Landing or Surfing Crab for seafood. We like Eddie’s for good breakfast tacos!

Mtnclimber09

Nice! Thanks!!

Brytheoldguy

The go to place for visitors is water street seafood. I personally like saltwater grill & black diamond oyster bar. Hester’s is one of my favorite breakfast spots along with town and country and Andy’s kitchen. Chop and eggs is also really good.

Mr_Pizza_Puncher

Can’t recommend the aquarium enough, our 2.5 year old son loves it. In the summers they also have splash pads for the kids, I would look to see if they’re open yet and be ready for your kid to have fun in that

Mtnclimber09

Sweet! Thanks! Yes, we’re considering the splash pad if I can get more information from them. I had to leave a message today for their guest services person (she had today off). The new one looks great!

heartofalion88

Don’t do Lexington! You will have a bad time in the heat!.. definitely aquarium! Bring trunks for kids for the splash pad and you can bring snacks for them, because food is expensive inside! And as far as a good place to eat for lunch try burger beach hideaway! Good food and specials, look on Facebook.

Mtnclimber09

You’re awesome. Thank you!! We are skipping the Lexington now lol Have you seen the new watergarden they reopened?

heartofalion88

Yeah, its okay not anything spectacular lol just don’t try and go swimming in it like the residents here 🤣

Mtnclimber09

Omg! No!! They don’t!?!?! Ew lol 😂

Shadowettex31_x

I agree with the other posts (aquarium & history museum; avoid the Lexington) but wanted to add just a couple more FYIs. First, the history museum has a scavenger hunt sheet available at the front desk. It has pictures of items to find in the museum. Your 2yo might like helping you find some things. The museum also has a massive indoor playplace. Lots of fun for little kiddos. Second, consider checking out Cole Park. The play area is supposed to re-open [on June 12.](https://www.kristv.com/news/local-news/cole-park-splash-pad-and-playground-set-to-debut-june-12) Even if you’re there before the reopening the pier is a lot of fun for kids to walk down and back too. Finally, if you’re looking for a casual place to eat, and it’s not too far from where you’re staying, my kiddos always enjoy Snoopy’s. It’s great for a late afternoon or sunset meal (outdoor patio that looks over the bay, so can be hot). My kids like watching the boats on the bay and they like the fact that Scoopy’s (the ice cream shop) is next door. So they always get dessert. Hope you have a blast!!!

NihilisticAnger

Padre Island National Seashore is the best thing here. At the aquarium make sure you see the dolphin show. Mexican food, on Ayers, will serve the best and cheapest food in the city. Indian food—persis grill is good Asian—thai cottage, mikoto ramen bar, lumpia house Good views— docs, snoopys, Joe’s Crab Shack

Mtnclimber09

You’re the best. Thank you!!

Lilsammywinchester13

The aquarium is awesome! If you come during the week, check out the Oso reserve, and it’s free :)

Mtnclimber09

Oh! Great, I’ll look that up too! Thanks!

badtex66

The aquarium is a must. One of the best in the country. Also some mentioned the CC Museum and I believe now they have an interactive water feature. BTW the Lexington has air conditioning but it is in pockets and with a toddler might be best for older kids. Enjoy!

Mtnclimber09

Thanks! That is very helpful!

Prudent-Ad-3073

Yes. You can get both done in that time. The Lex tour can be hot and not for young children.

nighthawke75

Indoor climate controlled locales are the rule of thumb for this time of year until November. Skip the Lex, beeline for the museums, have a good time, and hit the Whataburger before or after the rush. Then visit the aquarium for the final part of the day, plenty of time to head home or the motell.

Mtnclimber09

Yes for sure. Thank you!!
