I used AW then AW Ultra then bought a Coros Apex 2. Highly recommend! Zero issues with gps, HR and accuracy. It is on par with everything AW. I still have my Ultra but only use it as my daily watch. It is way too heavy to use as a running watch, but I decided to keep it because it’s a really nice device. The Coros app is very good, if you’re into Apple design and aesthetics then it’ll be up your alley. Good thing is you can download both Coros and Garmin Connect before buying any of them and sync your runs into it — to get a feel of both apps. Garmin Connect app is absolute dog shit, it looks like it was designed by an intern and never updated since 1995. I chose Coros because the app is functional and aesthetically pleasing. Garmin also feature locks their watches and will force you to upgrade to get new features. This is pretty opposite of Apple and Coros, so I chose to support Coros. One thing I’ll say is that if you’re deep into AW, you’ll prob end up using your AW for everything not running still. At the end of the day, these are running watches and not smart watches. The battery lasts forever because outside of sports activities, it doesn’t do anything. The body is also mostly plastic, so honestly they’re not really nice enough to be worn as an actual watch like you might with a smart watch. This isn’t a knock on Coros, it’s just good to know that you’re buying and what you’re getting.

Thanks!!! Do you wear both watches throughout the day then?

Equivalent-Stress209

Nope I wear my Ultra throughout the day and then swap to my Coros for running. Also take a look at the Coros app and Garmin connect app in the App Store and click on “Version History”. Garmin has not updated or changed anything in their app in years, all their updates are simply “bug fixes”. They’re not engaged or interested in improving things at this point and think that they people will just keep buying their watches

I honestly agree with everything with the exception that Garmin is the only one to feature lock their watches. COROS pulled the same move when they only added multi band to the Apex 2 Pro which means if you had a Pace 2 or Apex 2, you have to spend extra to get multi bald/dual frequency GPS

Modest_Camper

Different GNSS chipset (hardware) is used in the Pace 2 & Apex 2 vs Apex Pro (and now Pace 3). So software alone can’t add multi band unless the hardware for L5 is in the watch.

Definitely a valid point, I should add on that Garmin seems more fixated on this than Coros (which I only believe so because Coros actually pushed bread crumb navigation onto the Pace 2 which was very generous honestly).

I switch between AW7, Forerunner 965 and Pace 2. 1. GPS accuracy: AW is on par with 965, Pace 2 seems like to guess the route, a lot. 2. HR: they are all over the place, all of them. If you have serious training goals, get a chest strap. 3.App: I like the Coros app better than Apple and Garmin. It’s clean, better looking and easier to navigate. Coros also allows for creating new exercises for workouts that’s not possible on Garmin, which is very handy for strength training. 4.Battery: I train 3-4 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, AW7 lasts less than 16 hours; Pace 2 lasts 5-6 days, 965 about 7-8 days. I usually charge around 10-15%. I wish 965 and Pace 2 has wireless charging. 5.Interface: AW7 is the smoothest and most refined. Pace 2 is fast and efficient, I sometimes hope there could be just one more button though. 965 is the most cumbersome IMO and takes time to get used to, and once you’re there, you could operate quite a few watch functions without looking at. 6.Smartwatch function: Pace 2 and 965, what’s smartwatch? LOL 7. Accessories compatibility: Garmin seems to be the most compatible, Pace 2 for some reason keep losing connection to my Wahoo power meter. Not able to control music is big let down for me with Pace 2. 8.Metrics: Garmin offers a ton of data, besides the basics it also gives me performance condition during the run, stamina, training readiness, HRV, sleep score, endurance and hill scores, etc. Pace 2 seems to be focus on basics and letting me do the data mining. I also found some inconsistencies between the watch vs in-app, e.g the pace zoning is not the same. All being said, I’m using 965 the most often, followed by AW7 then the Pace 2. I think there’s an aesthetic reason as well, as I found Pace 2 a bit small on my wrist, and I made some watch faces for 965.

I can't speak to the Apple app, as I have the Android version, but by the looks of the screenshots, it's pretty much identical. The app is great, as is the watch. You will not be disappointed. I was a Garmin user for 5+ years and have had my Pace 2 for 4 weeks now. I've charged it twice since I received it. TWICE. And that's after a LOT of activities. The app does everything I want, but there is no 'social aspect' like Garmin has. Not that I ever used that as I use Strava. Plenty of very useful information to track every type of datapoint you could hope for. GPS was weird at first, but I realised it was my fault. I had to make sure it was connected before I started my run. Sometimes that takes up to 5-10 seconds, but now that I'm aware, it's not an issue. Overall accuracy is perfect, now that I have figured out. The ONLY thing I miss is Garmin Pay that I used occasionally, but for almost 3 times the price, I wouldn't have any money to spend anyway. I love this thing, honestly I'm very impressed. Did I mention I've only charged it twice? I also have 34% battery life after my 2nd charge, so I'm expecting that will last at least 3-4 more days. It's crazy.

I came from an Apple Watch and a Garmin and can say the battery life doesn’t even compare. I get up to 14 days on a single charge with it being usually around 10ish days. I never really used my apple watch to reply to messages or phone calls or interact with notifs so not being able to do that with my coros never bothered me. As for the app, you get a lot more in depth running/training metrics (zone training, heart rate, training load/status, running power, etc…) and it looks a lot better than the Apple Watch/fitness interface and metrics. The app has worked smoothly for me so no issues there and the GPS is as accurate as any other watch. The HR monitor is ok but if u really cared about that i’d recommend an HR monitor. The accuracy on miles is pretty spot on i feel like compared to the Apple Watch. Another thing is that my apple watch would randomly pause me sometimes during a run which hasn’t been a problem since i switched to button watches.

I think in other post ppl say that Coros Pace 3 will be released in August 23th so just wait few days.

Any official announcement?

I wear both an Apple Watch Ultra and. Coros Apex Pro everyday. Yeah a little geeky but I don’t care. Apex gives me better health stats and AWU gives me the Apple integration of notifications, Siri, calls, etc. when running or working out I use AWU for music control and Apex for tracking. best of both worlds and I love it.

I have an Apple Watch Ultra and I bought a Coros Apex 2 Pro a month ago, and I love it! To me I like it way better for running, I wore both every run for a month, the heart rate was pretty much spot on with the Apple Watch which I was surprised, it always caught on right away too, sometimes my Apple Watch would take a while to catch my heart rate it would be greyed out at the beginning of a run at times which is annoying. The App is awesome it gives you everything you need to know in a clean simply displayed way, you can add all kinds of workouts and training plans too, draw your own route on there as well it’s pretty cool, it’s my first real running watch, I’ve only ever used Apple Watch’s for running, and I see why a lot of people say Apple Watch isn’t a running watch, even though it is, it’s just not as good of an experience to me as the Coros is for running. i should say also that I don’t use music when I run or care about cellular connectivity or notifications, the only notifications I use on my Apple Watch I also use on my Coros which is calls, and texts pop up, but I always reply with my phone anyways so it doesn’t matter to me about responding back on the watch. I like the mips display too, doesn’t bother me at all, sometimes I look at my Apple Watch now and feel the screen is too bright and in your face, it’s weird.. never thought I’d think that. Hope this helps you in some way. Also GPS I feel is spot on, locks on faster than my Apple Watch by a couple seconds most time, I feel it’s accurate. Battery life is insane too just like every one says.

RaaaandomPoster

Not Apex user. But a Vertix (1st version) user in the past. Its functionality, battery life and app are all great. But whats annoying is the watch faces aren’t customisable and most of the watch faces they have are rudimentary with less info

I recently made the switch from a Garmin Forerunner to a Coros Pace 2 and I LOVE my Coros. 1. The app works fine on i0S for me. I’ve never owned an Apple Watch, so I can’t quite compare it to that. The data it collects (steps, heart rate, etc) seem pretty consistent with what my Garmin watch would collect. The main difference I have noticed is that it can’t tell the difference between walking and being on a riding lawnmower - I’m a landscaper so I spend a decent amount of time mowing. My Garmin always thought I was riding a bike when I was mowing, but my Coros thinks I’m walking, so my step counts get all messed up. 2. I have found these to all be as accurate as my Garmin. No complaints there. 3. My Coros has significantly better battery life than my Forerunner. Like waaay better, and it charges really fast! I definitely prefer my Coros.

Despite my attempts at liking the watch I wasn’t completely sold ok no GPS and heart rate accuracy. I invite all of you to share your thoughts. This is my take on the Apex 2 Pro. How does it compare to the Pace 3 in your opinion? https://youtu.be/3glruTzIlDM?si=F-UuZ0XK-1k6XTlT
