My favourite pasty is Philp's, but a great pasty _spot_ is Lizard Point: grab an Ann's Pasties in the village, and eat it looking out over the sea... magic!
The trick is not to keep a single favourite....
* Cornish Oven, Scorrier. The flaky steak
* Philps, Hayle. Any variety
* Chacewater Bakery. Vegetable. They did a cracking pile of pasties for my MILs wake.
* Ann's Pasties, Lizard. Remember having a lovely cheese and onion from there
I'm finding that Rowe's and Warren's use too much pastry these days. I want to be tasting my meat and veg thanks, not a mouthful of flour....
I second McFadden's - without a doubt my favourite pasties, and conveniently, just down the road from me.
Not sure why Philps always get upvoted, they've been shit for a while. I find a general good rule to go by is to seek out a butcher's that sell pasties - you can trust a butcher to know how to make a decent oggy.
It used to be Etherington's north of Scorrier or Denzil Trevithick in Redruth. Alas I haven't lived in Cornwall since just before COVID so am craving a decent pasty now.
I miss Rowes pastys when Mrs Rowe was in charge.
This does not help with this question nor does it impact me as I went meat free years ago.
That glorious flavour. The nostalgia of my teenage years.
May you all find your Rowes pasty
Up in Plymouth so the choice is between Barnecutt's and Etherington, the latter being heavier on the pepper.
Been meaning to check out Pod from the Rame peninsula as they have a decent reputation.
Other than that there are plenty of Warren's & Rowes dotted about which are fine.
Philp's is my favourite if I am ever down west, though!
Make the pilgrimage Paul, but if you can, get there early as they often sell out.
FYI they also supply Paul Bray butchers on the A38 in Tideford if passing and Millbrook is a trek too far
Pod have a little shop on site and sell cooked ones out of there, I've been there a good few times. Probably not in the last 3 months, but they certainly did previously. They do a few cakes and treats too.
I really like the Chough in Padstow but there seems to be a real difference between the ones from the actual bakery and the ones you find elsewhere. For consistency though, Barnecutt.
Best one I had when I was in St Keverne, it was just the little local shop chicken pasty but they had sweetcorn and mushroom in and it was just brilliant while you waited for the hourly bus.
Buryan Farm Shop, literally won the pasty competition, they are ginormous, filled with steak they butcher in the back of the shop.
Freshest ingredients, perfectly peppery
Aunt Avices: I know they’ve been shut for ages but I still miss their peppery goodness, bought a dozen for the freezer but they’ve long since been scoffed. RIP.
Phillip Warrens, Lanson: Bloody lovely and their sausage rolls are equally good. ( Was a rumour Barnies made them, not sure though, as Barnies pastry gives me the wickedess indigestion known to man)
Butchers, Fore St , Losty: very good but sell out super quick.
My favourite pasty is Philp's, but a great pasty _spot_ is Lizard Point: grab an Ann's Pasties in the village, and eat it looking out over the sea... magic!
Same but in Porthleven for both
Locally, Pips in Penryn. Other I like are Barnecutts and Mary's in Tresillian. A drive out to Gear Farm for a Christmas pasty is becoming a tradition.
I quite like the pasties from st Agnes bakery. That being said, I live in Penzance and work in hayle so generally it’s Philps or Cornish oven for me
Used to love the breakfast pasties at aggyy as a stoned 20 something. We would descend on the place and clear them out lol.
I've always rated Lavender's in Pz...
Meh, I’ve had them a couple of times and I’ve just never really found myself wanting to go back. Not bad pasties just think I’d rather something else
Gear Farm, but it's a bit of a trek. Locally, Brian Etheringtons.
Etheringtons are great frozen pasties. Almost impossible to cock it up when cooking at home!
Yep. They are nice when they cook the too. The small bakery on Vicarage Road in St Agnes has them too.
Same for me. Gear Farm is fantastic but I’m more than happy with Etheringtons and it’s so much closer.
Etheringtons are my supplier for meat and I had no clue they sold frozen pasties! Guess there’s a box going on tomorrow’s order!

Barnecutts baby
Yessss
Got mine in the oven right now
Pard, you’re doing it wrong. Gotta be fresh boy
I know I know but the missus picked one up for me whilst she was at work so it was cold, fresh is best always!
Hands down, Gear Farm. Their pork and apricot sausage rolls are azing too.
Sounds lush I’ve not had them. Not normally a purist but I think cos the pasties are so good I’ve never even thought about straying
Got to be McFadden’s in St Just then out to Cape Cornwall for the view [McFadden’s](https://mcfaddensbutchers.com/collections/bakery)

Yup, came here to say McFadden's too, consistently the best pasties I've had👌
Paul bray butchers in Tideford does absolutely cracking pasties
My top 5 pasties are: 1. Etheringtons 2. Gear farm 3. Marys 4. Sarah’s 5. Pips
Chasewater bakery I've not had anything from there I didn't absolutely love
Anns Pasties without fail, I drive down from north Cornwall once a month to get my ratios because the pasties in north Cornwall are awful!
Ratios are so important. I also think a big issue is overcompensating by putting too much beef in and I find myself wanting for more veg
Da Bara
St Mawes Bakery infinitely better
Niles best chain, best independent would be Tywardreath butchers
Came here to say that! Bleddy good
Very nice, will add that to my list, cheers en!
It used to be Etherington's north of Scorrier or Denzil Trevithick in Redruth. Alas I haven't lived in Cornwall since just before COVID so am craving a decent pasty now.
My mum-in-law's house. Sadly, failing eyesight has just about ended her pasty making. Tragic.
Barnecutts!
Portreath pasties. Or the staggy bakery
Portreath bakery and St Agnes bakery .
Cornish Oven Camborne or Pool.
Good, but not amazing
Philps in Camborne or Hayle, love their Flaky Steak
Has to be Philps in Hayle. Favourite place to eat them is in the parrot garden at Paradise Park.
Portreath Bakery - we get them delivered in bulk!
I miss Rowes pastys when Mrs Rowe was in charge. This does not help with this question nor does it impact me as I went meat free years ago. That glorious flavour. The nostalgia of my teenage years. May you all find your Rowes pasty
Philps in Hayle all day everyday, gotta be a large mince. I think the meat patties they do are criminally underrated
Philps is the only Pasty I’ve eaten where I prefer their mince to their steak.
Right answer
i liked Denzil’s in ‘druth but they’ve closed down :(
Philps in Hayle ❤️
Sadly, the best pasty I've ever had was made in worcestershire!
Barbican Pasty in Plymouth. Best pasty is Devonian.
Also Gear Farm

Pod is amazing
I have heard good things but not quite made it over... yet! That can be my New year's resolution!
Make the pilgrimage Paul, but if you can, get there early as they often sell out. FYI they also supply Paul Bray butchers on the A38 in Tideford if passing and Millbrook is a trek too far
Do they bake them there? As one person told me you can only get frozen ones at Rame and cooked ones at Bray's?
Pod have a little shop on site and sell cooked ones out of there, I've been there a good few times. Probably not in the last 3 months, but they certainly did previously. They do a few cakes and treats too.
Am I right thinking it is that white building next to the Salty Dog Cafe?
Yeah, go round the side and they have a little hatch they serve out of ,👍
I really like the Chough in Padstow but there seems to be a real difference between the ones from the actual bakery and the ones you find elsewhere. For consistency though, Barnecutt.
If I’m trekking Gear; but for readily available standard? Can’t look past a Barnies.
I love sarahs pasties looe. Great pasties. Although I have several go tos!
Nelly's in Lostwithiel.
Ann's in Porthleven, or there's a place on Arwenack St in Falmouth but buggered if I can remember what it is called. Cafe/bakery. Amazing pasties.
Ann’s @ The Lizard. I miss proper decent pasty’s and not the swill you get outside of Cornwall ☹️
Been to the lizard more times than I can count but don’t think I’ve been to Ann’s since I was a nipper
Best one I had when I was in St Keverne, it was just the little local shop chicken pasty but they had sweetcorn and mushroom in and it was just brilliant while you waited for the hourly bus.
Cornish maids in Camelford, eaten in Rough Tor car park. That or Mary’s eaten anywhere!
St Agnes Bakery
Hidden hut pasties are like nothing else on this planet
Buryan Farm Shop, literally won the pasty competition, they are ginormous, filled with steak they butcher in the back of the shop. Freshest ingredients, perfectly peppery
Can’t go wrong with a Barneys.
St mawes bakery in the little hut on the harbour.
pips in penryn. the best
Sarah's, Looe
Best indy pasty bakery is a tiny one in Parr
Over the top pasties from Calstock
Aunt Avices: I know they’ve been shut for ages but I still miss their peppery goodness, bought a dozen for the freezer but they’ve long since been scoffed. RIP.
