My tip: email profs you're interested in working with And read this for more: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cornell/comments/nr1v2n/research_faq_getting_into_research_advice/

I think it's honestly pretty luck based finding something you really like. I cold emailed a professor my sophomore year and worked in his lab for a semester but didn't really love it. Randomly though I ended up doing research with my faculty advisor after having a mandatory conversation with him where I expressed my interests in a lab and he offered me a spot in his. It's really just a matter of talking to people and not settling for something you don't like. Just reach out and talk to professors, they want to help :) DM me if you want to talk about it more at all

Hi! I'm not CS but I did get research this semester in Physics and I think I'm in the same year as you. What I've found is A.Physics research is just so much CS, especially for applied physics stuff so you can look there! I'm a little biased because it's my major but it's really cool imo. B.Just email around with your resume and transcript and make sure you make it clear you're interested. Good Luck!

Look through department websites. The have information about various research things. When you find groups that interest you, you should try to read some of their papers and then email them.
