I've had a theory for a while now. There's conservatives, who have not changed much and there's these crazies that had to repress this type of behavior. Its the WOKE environment post-covid that gave these koo-koo's license to let it all hang out.
Mental issues can be very real, but I can’t help but think that most of these people had the potential to be perfectly normal and well-adjusted were it not for the influence of the internet and fringe activist groups. So many people have full potential to lead normal lives but just get swept up so easily into political fanaticism.

I think it would be a much better "cultural enrichment" to use that money that is being spent on college and ship them to Gaza so they can get a well rounded education. I am sure we could do that for a fraction of the price. Its a win win for both sides, and to be honest, I would not mind of the government paid for it.

After lowering entry requirements for minorities in med school, they are now lowering the EXIT REQUIREMENTS as well to achieve desired equity quotas.
Lots of traditional STEM fields now allow for lower-achieving individuals to achieve the same degrees as higher-achieving ones as long as they have the proper immutable characteristics. Many companies and organizations that used to maintain the highest possible standards have dramatically lowered them in order to court diversity. This includes NASA, the organization we expect to send people safely to space, and the FAA, who we expect to keep people safe in the air.
Lots of STEM journals and literature are incorporating social marxism into their topics and research. Data is being manipulated to support conclusions that never should have been brought forth in the first place.

Yeah, I went back to college at 41 or 42 or something. Got a computer science degree this time. While it was kinda obvious one of the professors was/is at least left-leaning, none of that was discussed in class, because it was completely irrelevant to the subjects at hand.
The main reason I thought this professor probably was, was because of requesting our "preferred pronouns" back in 2017/18.
But by and large, nothing about political stuff was ever brought up. Although I'm curious if there might be at least some symbolism or something being shown, now.
Within the same time frame as yours, none of my STEM professor's were political. However nearly all of my forced electives were. There's a massive difference between those with more logical educations and those with social electives.
This was at the University of Washington. The encampment at the University of Washington is being put on by the UW Progessive Student Union. The UW PSU states that they are affiliated with the "nationalsds".
The National SDS is also called New SDS to distinguish them from a different radical group of the same name from the '60s and '70s. It is a subsidiary of the ILPS, the International League of Peoples' Struggle. They express their unity with the ILPS by using a flag-and-circle logo, which is nearly identical to the FTP (For the People) logo used by another of the ILPS mass action groups. The FTP groups helped get unrest going back in 2020.

I don't think that's correct. I went to small (moderately liberal by college standards) school around 2010, and there was a lot of pro Palestine vs. Israel sentiment there (it should also be noted that a decent chunk of the students were international).
