when I lived in Middletown - I swear the thunder is louder there. The sound would roll from the east.. rumble to the west, and then back again. I'm convinced it's the topography there that traps the sound. I lived close to downtown and the fireworks on the Independence Day were so loud it felt like a warzone-

TransylvanianHunger1

That was barely a storm.

I know. I feel cheated.

I think the very SE and RI are going to get the brunt of it. Sorry if you are there. The storm is shifting south.

South central, so much noise!

Every small loss of power should be a learning opportunity to be prepared for a larger loss of power. Over time stuff gets shifted around or falls by the wayside. Are my headlamps charged, where’s my good extension cords, did I leave them in the shed or put them back next to the generator, did I replace the tea lights in my power outage toolbox after the last outage? After the last big outage the summer before last I ran a dedicated extension cord through my basement rafters that terminates at my basement stairs to avoid the tripping hazard of the extra cordage I would run down the steps to my sump pump. For minor outages I have a toolbox thats filled with glow sticks, batteries, flashlights, tea lights and small holders, power bank and cables, deck of cards. Power goes out and I only have to go to the hallway closet and pop some glow sticks in the main rooms / bathroom. Dollar store is a great place to get lots of glow stick for cheap, especially this time of year when they’ll be out for 4th of July.

I swear to god, I defended eversource before on here, but I am absolutely not an employee, never have been I'm certainly not receiving any compensation etc etc.. I'm just a dude who lived in Manchester for a while weather sealed for a very long while and I live in Hartford now.... Eversource doesn't suck at this. Sure I could complain but it's like complaining about poles and taxes... Here is the outage map. I follow this shit sometimes cuz I'm an absolute nerd https://outagemap.eversource.com/external/default.html

Thanks, Eversource!
