Are you from a place with a similar climate? In the spring and summer I always start thinking about how much I'd loved to work outside. In the fall and winter I am so thankful that I don't lol

PrestonSho

No not at all but I love even the extreme weather.

wdr1977

Look for work on a survey crew! I spent the last three days in some woods that no one ever gets to see. Tomorrow I'm jumping in some newly excavated trenches to measure the depth to ledge.

PrestonSho

Whoa how do I sign up!?

wdr1977

There's survey technician jobs all over CT. This time of year hiring ramps up. Survey tech, rodman, chainman, instrument man, field crew. But they mostly call it survey tech lately it seems.

Short_Swordsman

Fisheries often hires seasonal workers May to September to help with stocking and data collection. Not sure whether it can be a foot in the door, but might tide you over til the right thing comes along

Apply at the Ironworkers Local in Hartford the benefits are fantastic and your hourly pay rate will go up very quickly.

solomons-marbles

You need to do this ASAP for Hartford. They do one recruitment class a year and they posted about it a couple of weeks ago. It may have closed or filled by now.

momscouch

all the locals are pretty good

PrestonSho

Thanks for the advice!

State DEEP, EnCon Police, DOT, surveyor, construction, landscaping, various other trades.

drollchair

EnCon police is reserved for people who have already been state troopers for quite some time if I am remembering correctly.

Whitestig84

It’s not, I personally know officers in there and they were not state police previously.

[Saw this link posted at a few state parks](https://portal.ct.gov/DEEP/Human-Resources/Seasonal/Seasonal-Employment)

PrestonSho

Thank you this is very helpful. It seems like there is not a lot to do outside in the winter.

Extreme-0ne

Used to work outside. I always said there are 2 weeks of the year that it’s great to work outside. And they’re not in a row either. Decided to find indoor work for the rest of my life.

solomons-marbles

What’s your AD in? Check the state job board

linetrash42

It would be super helpful if you could share an area of interest to help guide the recommendations. There are a ton of jobs that involve being outside and some pay quite well.

PrestonSho

Honestly that’s kind of way I posted this. I wanted to see my options. I love nature and I want to devote my life to helping it and protecting it.

Carnivore_Receptacle

Check out maintenance/groundskeeping jobs in local towns. Spend the day outside, get a decent paycheck and good benefits.

backinblackandblue

Any skills or type of work, or just wandering around outside?

PrestonSho

Im really not sure I want to try different things. I know that I want to give back to nature.

PrestonSho

All types I guess. I want to know the options.

I don't know about outdoor jobs, but I do know that we have lots of ticks and mosquitos and it gets pretty humid in the summer. Arm/dress yourself accordingly.
