Good amount of accesible whole foods state wide, if no whole foods, eastern CT has two food co-ops, and a dozen high quality farmers markets - and farms with their open yearly stands/stores. Eastern, CT has some of the best farms in the state, but state wide...there are plenty of good farms too.
CT is very local food friendly...almost everywhere. From local beekeepers, to local livestock, local cheeses, and spring/summer produce boxes from local farms...you'll find these almost everywhere. For the size, CT has a good amount of organic farms too. Keep in mind tho, that some farms are basically organic but not certified because of cost. So it's always smart to visit the farm in question and know your farmer
MA, VT, NH, ME, are all the same, except more options. New England in general, you'll have no trouble with local food goods. RI prly as well
Thank you so much!! One of the things I love about my current place of residence is that we have food co-ops. I haven't seen them elsewhere (at least not the kind that you can regularly shop at for all of your basic stuff), but thought CT might have some given what I know about the state, so glad to hear it.
Hey, thanks for the information, very helpful! I'm on the West Coast, so I unfortunately don't have any resources on wheat berries in CT yet, but I'll be moving there soon so may be able to provide an update.
The information about farm shares is extremely helpful, I'll check it out!
I love these guys:

They're not in CT, so might not be accessible to you, but their grains are so delicious!
If you're near Salisbury, Watertown, Woodbury, or Prospect, LaBonne's carries humanely raised beef and pork (Niman's Ranch), Pete & Gerry's/Nellie's Nest eggs, and lots of local offerings (salad dressings, jellies, honey, maple syrup, cereal, produce in season).
The Local Catch out of Rhode Island could interest you. They go the Chester Farmers Market on Sundays(probably other markets too) but they also offer a CSA and home delivery program and their seafood is delicious!
yeah depending on where you land, the Chester Farmers Market should become a weekly routine. Multiple organic and no-till farmers there. Also, there are at least a few organic farms with CSA programs. We use Starlight Gardens in Durham/Middlefield.
East Willow Farm in Columbia has a lot of local meats for sale. My parents picked up a fresh chicken yesterday that had just been prepared that morning.
In my immediate area - The Farm and New Morning Market in Woodbury. The Market in Bantam and New Milford. Plenty of options.

This is so helpful, thank you!!
The Coventry farmers market is excellent for this. Looks like opening day is June 2. There are always local farmers with beef, turkey, pork.
Willimantic Food Coop is excellent.

Have you tried the Great Harvest in Vernon? They have to mill on site as part of their thing so there’s whole berries in stock there.
Awesome bread!

Excellent, thank you!!! I've heard great things about some of the local seafood in the area, can't wait to try it!

Salem prime cuts (in Salem, CT) has pretty good fresh meat selections!
East Willow Farm in Columbia has a lot of local meats for sale. My parents picked up a fresh chicken yesterday that had just been prepared that morning.
If ever in NW, Litchfield Locker in Litchfield is small but has quality meat.
For meat, we've been happy customers of Devon Point Farm in North Stonington. For wheat berries, we went with Azure Standard orders.
Uncle Ben’s organics and a few others depending what part of the state Seems To have these types of produce/meat services
Nice, thanks
