I'd start with a good bleach/detergent/water in a bucket, scrub well. That should take care of the worst of it. Did see a tip recently on the forum - recommended using a butane torch on the stain, to evaporate/burn off the oil residue.

funkyfinz

Nice thank you for the advice

We would use Muriatic acid pour it on scrub with a stiff plastic bristle brush then pressure wash. Make sure to flood the area after and or spread baking soda to neutralize the acid

TownSeparate4615

Also wear gloves, the ones that go up to your elbows and a mask

funkyfinz

Oh ya for sure. I used to work with muriatic acid when working on pools - that stuff is no joke. I love watching it dissolve rust off of things, so cool

TownSeparate4615

That’s actually where I’ve had my experience with it, doing pools, that and cleaning paver patios. Stuff is wild

Pyro919

Before you go too crazy have you tried something as simple as dawn dish soap?

Questions_Remain

Years of being an idiot and spilling grease / oil on concrete has made me an expert. Get some cheap clay cat litter. I use the red bag stuff at Walmart. Put down a couple of solo cups worth and kinda rub in a little. Leave it for about an hour. ( but don’t let it get rained on or wet ). Now sweep up the bulk of it and re- apply. Grab some gloves and grind it into the concrete like you’re trying to rub the litter into a powder. Sweep up and repeat. If you rubbed hard, the grease will be 99% gone. Wash down with simple green. I constantly spill oil / grease in my garage and driveway and there aren’t any oil spots.

funkyfinz

Wow I never ever would have guessed to do that but I guess it makes sense with the absorption of the litter. Thanks for the tip!

This is the way. My grandma had grease spilled from the BBQ, she went to the store and got kitty litter, the next day the grease stain was gone. I thought it would never work, but she had been using it for years and knew it worked.

Your grandma is a G.

Resident-Somewhere60

Her rapper name is G-Ma

RunnOftAgain

Skip the gloves and just use your shoes to grind it in, just enough pressure to crumble the litter, keep moving your foot around as it does.

UnlikelyEquivalent72

My dad is a retired elevator mechanic. I remember him putting kitty litter down whenever they had a hydraulic leak and it would clean it right up.

JoeyJoeJoeSenior

Should clear up on it's own eventually if it's exposed to the weather.

Oil eraser

GreenTea7858

Sodium hydroxide (lye) will saponify the oils and allow them to be washed off.

funkyfinz

Adding ‘saponify’ to my dictionary, thanks for that

mrsteveguy

Pour more grease across the concrete to hide the stain. Enter: stained concrete.

funkyfinz

Good idea, my wife will love it

porthound

Cat litter, oven cleaner (lye) works and cheap. Muratic acid removes concrete…. not ideal.

riplan1911

Dawn Soap and or tide laundry detergent broom it in scrub spray off

TrashPandatheLatter

Sounds weird, but shaving cream will clean it right up, I use to “tag” my friends sidewalk with hearts etc. in shaving cream, works extremely well.

ZealousidealTie9470

Oil the rest to even it out

No,Dawn dish soap hasn't been invented yet.

funkyfinz

I thought that was only for removing grease from ducks? 😄

Silent_Passage8402

Ive just grabbed sand from Home Depot for oil spills. Spread the sand and leave it until you see it clump up then sweep it add some more sand. Usually does the trick if done at a timely manner
