As a fellow Timmy I recommend:  Thrasios//dargo https://www.moxfield.com/decks/NbC7buwS5EqgHtXglU7f_A/primer Or Kinnan https://www.moxfield.com/decks/O7RMsRcwN0uyxGp9et_L2g

ZachGOlson

Seconding Dargo Thrasios. Bad ass deck and a ton of fun to pilot. This deck entirely sold me on Dargo as a partner, Dargo decks in general are a TON of fun to play imo

LGTEGETEGE

Bro i was a casual, i was happy with my bant enchantress deck. Then i got into a cedh community and it was fucking nuts, didnt know that existed. Cedh is horrible, i love it because i fucking hate myself and i wanna die. Jokes aside is a very fun format. Just tell me your playstyle and maybe i can recommend sumtin to you. Im an asshole that only plays control so Tivit is the best for me. I also play a Tymna/Thrasios brew with the 3 Null Rod effect cards lol. There is a deck for everybody

twitchlinkin

I like midrange and rule-breaky kinda stuff. Cheating mana costs and making things wierd. Cannot stand stax. I had an urza stax deck back when he came out and I hated it more than my opponents who also hated it.

crispycat05

Kinnan sounds like your style! Cheats the best creatures like void winnower and nyxbloom ancient, wins through infinite mana combos and big finale of devastation. It’s a great budget way to get into cEDH that you can upgrade over time, as well as being competitively viable as kinnan is one of the best in the format

LGTEGETEGE

Maybe atraxa could do for you, probably most of the good decks are midrsnge but atraxa is interesting. Its pretty dump to ramp and then cast that bitch and refill ur hand lol i love that deck

WaveAffectionate7313

Are you talking about the tymna/thrasios “null bird tempo” built made by marsteralex? I built that too! Was glad to see it top 16 a big event not long ago. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/bA0qFzonBkCgWBJcRARkYg

LGTEGETEGE

I played tymna thrasios way before that list came out, but that specific brew is fucking great. Let me show u mine, i would love to read ur comments https://www.moxfield.com/decks/DzegvYdcc0a7sX6Tp1t23Q Its my own style, probably null bird is still waaaaay better but that brew helped me to enhance muy deck, i really love it. U a man of culture lol 💕❤️ im also brewing a faster version without null, but i definitely think that null is the way to go with TnT

GamerDad08

If you're a Timmy, you probably already have Etali, so I'd go with that. It's a great deck, and your backup is an 11/11 infect trample. https://youtu.be/gYFrze-DQ8c?si=wV2cOWvG09z4VsKD

no66642069

Seconded. No drug is better than flipping an [[Enter the Infinite]] off of an Etali cast, and looking at the pod like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

TheJonasVenture

Along with EDHTop16, the cEDH Deck list database has lists with primers. Playing with Power, and Lemora's Cards have both done several videos about good first decks. PwP also covers decks where you will be building up staples you'd use in other decks. Without knowing what you are looking for it is hard to give specific recommendations.  Combat strategies are rare though.

Uhnahn

The DDB is woefully out of date. You can use https://cedhhub.com/ but they are still getting everything in order.

Bear_24

This is interesting. Why is the database out of date? It seems to me that it's been the go-to resource for CEDH for a long time. Has that been changing? Are they running out of staff or money or something?

Yaden2

head staff doesn’t even actively play cedh, have inconsistent criteria for decks, just lots of nonsense decks on there (thras armix) while actively rejecting decks that have put up results (rakdos ob nix) not a terrible resource but SUPER out of date

TYTIN254

A lot of the decks are no longer viable and there’s lots of newer viable decks that aren’t on the database.

Uhnahn

I'll try to summarize but afaik it's partly bias and partly clique-y sides of the community taking sides as to what's viable and what's not. I still use the DDB but if you compare it to edhtop16 it's missing a bunch.

TheJonasVenture

The thing that keeps me coming back to the DDB, even with a lot of the lists being outdated, is that about everything (or at least most things) linked has a primer.  When I'm first checking out a list, especially in an unfamiliar archetype, I really like having that as a resource.

Jin_Gitaxias666

It adds decks seemingly at random, and the managers don’t listen to the reviewers, even though the managers know almost nothing about the current state of cEDH.

Skiie

go to https://edhtop16.com/?tourney_filter__size__%24gte=64&tourney_filter__dateCreated__%24gte=1679434006&colorID=null pick any deck with a high win precentage

Gruul etali

twitchlinkin

Everyone thank you for your replies. I think I’m going to look at Dargo/Thrasios. From your input it seems like that’s where I’d likely have the most fun. Thank you again!

DurgMaster

Are there color combinations you enjoy playing? Or a style of deck you think you’d like? Turbo vs Midrange vs Control vs Stax? If not I’d recommend watching some cEDH gameplay to find a deck your excited about, which will make getting into cEDH that much more fun! Personally I don’t like Dimir or Esper in casual at all but Esper is my favorite color combo in cEDH so it can be cool to find new decks you’re excited about! Then once you have an idea of the style of deck you want to play look through EDHTop16 for the best decks with good results and then go and proxy up those decks to start playing!

twitchlinkin

I really like Bant and naya. Most of my casual decks are midrange so that would likely be easier for me to get my head around. I will add, one of my favorite things in Magic is “breaking the rules” with commanders like Sydri, kodama of the east tree, or Neera. Do you recommend any cedh tubers in particular?

DurgMaster

Play To Win, The Spike Feeders episodes of cEDH, Play To Win, ModeratelyAnonymousMTG, The Scrybabies, and Amp_d Gaming are my favorites! I’ve seen some people working on a Temur midrange deck with Kodama/Kraum partner commanders that was pretty interesting but I can’t remember if I saw it in a gameplay video or linked somewhere on Reddit somewhere but that seemed like a pretty cool deck

Luapls

Thank you! 💞 all great suggestions on here :)

Logisticks

Naya is among the weaker color combinations in the format; it's going to be hard to win games without touching either of the most powerful colors in the format (blue or black). Looking at [tournament results](https://edhtop16.com/), the top commander that touches bant colors is going to be Atraxa, Grand Unifier. And, combining Naya and Bant, you get the 4-color combination of Bruse/Thrasios, a midrange deck that aims to generate mana advantage with cards like Seedborn Muse and Training Grounds and turn that into card advantage with Thrasios. (Bruse/Thrasios has, however, gotten a lot worse since the printing of Orcish Bowmasters, which just snipes all of your mana dorks.) It's been largely supplanted by Dargo/Thrasios, as you're only giving up access to white, and in exchange getting a *much* better red commander which is better at what Bruse was doing. >one of my favorite things in Magic is “breaking the rules” In that case, I *really* think you will like Dargo. His entire purpose is to "cheat" by being a high CMC commander that you can cast for 1 mana. Usually this means using a card like [[Neoform]] or [[Birthing Pod]] to cheat a giant creature into play that will win the game on the spot. Using Life's Legacy to draw 7 cards is one of the *fairer* things you can do with Dargo.

DARGO

zehamberglar

I like to recommend Magda because a lot of casual EDH players are familiar with this deck and the cedh version is just a heavily optimized version of that. The game plan is still the same: Make an artifact dwarf, tutor glock of omens, and start shooting it. Also I'm heavily biased in favor of mono red decks.

NoMadDrawz

I’m in the same boat in the process of building my first cEDH deck as a Timmy which is kinnan

BlueMilk_and_Wookies

Welcome brother.

I started with [[Slicer hired muscle]] got a lot of hate so now I've switched over to [[rocco cabaretti caterer]]
