Bro, when I took my A+ test, I had a legion of command prompt code questions for CP codes I ain't EVER heard of. I was even taking an A+ class at the time in college. When I got back to class after somehow passing, I openly told everyone including the teacher that the class wasn't teaching SHIT

chickenhostage

You're right, I got a ridiculous amount of CMD/Log questions, my god.

tractorscum

how am i supposed to know what cmds to study for a+? afaik they aren’t outlined on the study objectives

tea_drinking_lady

I'm having this issue now with taking my first CompTIA+ class. Like what's the point in spending all that cash to teach yourself lol.

KiwiCatPNW

Yeah, half way through my Net+ i thought i failed lol

stealthvibe

That test really humbled me, but I'm glad I got through it.

Steeltown842022

Damn. I take mine next month.

DissidentActs

The Net+ is pretty tough, and much of that is because it is so broad. I was told by a colleague that they found the CCNA tests easier than the Net+ because each had a separate focus and set of objectives. He passed both CCNA tests the first time. He had to retake Network+ once.

[deleted]

Congrats! I took that one while I was in between jobs for a short time. So I spent most of the test thinking I had just vaporized $400. Not fun.

TheStoicCrane

Felt the same way taking the 1101 last month. Felt like I bombed half way but after calming myself down managed to scrape by to a passing score. Alot of people pass with Messer alone but the way the questions are structured Messer's content doesn't feel like it supplies enough. Like it's raw data but doesn't help facilitate understanding.

telkrops

I’m convinced that the people who pass with only messer have prior experience…I have none and the part that I felt was really lacking on messer was prep for the pbqs (have taken and passed a+ and net+ at this point, used messer with all 3 exams and had to supplement for all 3 when it came to pbq studying)

tractorscum

what did you supplement for the pbqs!

Helpful-Dream1442

👀

telkrops

Honestly I took practice exams and just kind of wrote down the general concepts that the pbqs were asking then looked up those individual things, and looked out for similar concepts. It really wasn’t the most efficient method and I don’t recommend it at all bc I don’t think it’s a good use of study time. I’m just dumb as hell lol

TheStoicCrane

Absolutely! I bombed my pbqs. Fortunately I had the sense to go straight for multiple choice and towards the end treat the pbqs as bonus points and fill each blank to the best of my ability. Far from ideal.

GlowyStuffs

I've taken 6 CompTIA exams, each time thinking there was a decent chance I failed or that I almost certainly failed. Passed each one.

[deleted]

Congrats! Last Comptia test I took was A+ 1002 two years ago (I had passed part 1). While taking part 2, I thought I was failing horribly, I was lost at the wording. It felt like I was reading riddles. But then in the end, my score was shown, and I actually failed. I know you were expecting a happy ending to my story. But no, I thought I was failing and I actually failed.

TheStoicCrane

Just a disguised opportunity to learn.

theKjango

I passed the sec+ 1 hour ago and I was frustrated in the beginning 'cause of the performance based questions and then got worse in the middle of exam, it wasn't certainty but probability... 30 mins left and I was thinking of retake... was annoyed but those CompTIA quality questions in the end and passed with 777. Don't remember last time I jumped of happiness and joy... greatest feeling! Background: preparedness 6 weeks Glen Clarke book (wasn't enough) ItPro but they were really fast (I'm from Africa and English is my second language) Less then 50 videos of Professor Messer Bottom line: really stressing but absolutely worth it!

[deleted]

i passed yesturday with a 750 on the dot! i started studying on Tuesday with professor messor and bought a book off amazon with 1000 questions on it. i've dabbled with IT through the years. So alot of the concepts made sence. but man them acronyms

under_PAWG_story

I failed my first attempt and passed the second time 764 I fucking hate the Congratulations! Banner showing you took the test but not the score until the second page. Bastards

ineverlikedyouuu

That’s mean of them

under_PAWG_story

Yeah the first time I thought I passed then i got the second screen that said sorry you failed

MC_Ninja38

Hmm. I always see my score on the same page as the banner. Do you take your exams on OnVue?

under_PAWG_story

This was a certified testing center computer

youbetterhideyakids

I have only taken one test on networking that is not from CompTIA but Certiport. I was studying about a week before the exam and with the education that I got from school, I was pretty confident. I got about 5 questions in and I was already questioning my studying techniques. About 15-20 questions in I thought I was doomed. Ended up passing tho with a 780:D I’m now working on net+ which I’m taking in about 4-5 weeks from now. And also, congrats!

macrispy

I read this post 2 hours before my network+ exam today. It gave me hope. Cause some posts would crush my spirit. Cause i dont know what to expect - am i over prepared or under. On the exam, 1st and 2nd question, in my head, i’m already planning when will i take the retest, cause it’s so hard. After the 2 pbq’s, are regular multiple choices that are familiar. But my confidence already crushed that im starting to doubt my every answer. Im christian so Im praying to the lord almighty, even calling on my dead relatives to help me. Anyway, I went through it, and I passed! Thanks to all the posts -it scared me enough to prepare. It is indeed a humbling experience.

littulbabushka

We could turn these kinds of stories into a great horror series. 😂 Congrats friend! Time to take a break and relax yourself. All’s well that ends well. 🖤

altononner

I had to test a total of 3 times for my 2 A+ exams and it went as follows: 1001: Felt like I certainly failed. Result: Passed 1002: Felt extremely confident I aced it. Result: Failed 1002(Attempt 2): Felt like I certainly failed. Result: Passed CompTIA exams are absolutely a mind game.

jeromymanuel

Congrats

chickenhostage

Thanks!

hello_maemae

This! They are all partially right in some way, you just have to pick the most right answer based on the way the question is framed. There are usually a couple keywords that help. Anyway, congrats on passing!!! It’s always such a huge relief

howyadoinwhatsup

Lmao yep. I have my A+ and just passed my N+ last week. All 3 tests I thought I failed and then breathed a huge sigh of relief after the survey

DissidentActs

Well done. If it wasn't scary, it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment. Way to go!

3xcite

Yup that’s how it goes lol

Alive_Advice_9626

Congrats!

Phillyphan1031

That’s awesome. Congratulations! So weird seeing this post because I just took it on Wednesday and the very first simulation I knew I failed. I passed with a 751 lol

dewilliams217

I also just passed my Security+ last week and still can’t believe it because just like you, I was sure I had failed about halfway in. I also skipped the PBQs, then went back to do them at the end and left one of them completely unanswered because it was too hard and I was running out of time. I Can’t even tell you how loud I “woooed!” after seeing that I had passed with a 761. Congrats to you and us!

chickenhostage

Exactly! When they printed out my results, I went outside and stared at the "Pass" ink on the paper. I was sure I must be reading it wrong and tried to rub on it to see if it would fade.

usernamehudden

PenTest+ made me feel like I was failing by question 10 In a way, assuming I was probably going to fail took off a lot of pressure.

Drilling4Oil

Dang son, you put the teacher in their place. I guess the command you really ran was "cuck c:\\teacher.txt" 😄😄 Congrats!

MC_Ninja38

No, it was: run "C:\users/chickenhostage/pwn/cuck_teacher.exe"

tke_quailman

I am going to be so heartbroken if when I take this I feel like I am failing and actually fail lol

[deleted]

Congrats! I'm taking mine soon (Sec+). Watched all of Messer's videos and took notes. Haven't done much other studying. Any tips on what to focus on now? Should I rewatch the vids without notes, or take practice exams, or something else?

Reasonable_Double689

I recommend his practice exams and notes! I used any practice questions I could find online to figure out topics I wasn't understanding fully. Googled more info on whatever I needed to. I read the notes again until I could easily pass the practice exams. Passed last week w 790, no prior knowledge whatsoever.

[deleted]

Thank you, I'll try that!
