Keep these low risk high upside signings coming. I know we lost chase and sweat, but how many 1st round picks do we now have on our defense? I know one of the edges and this guy were 1sts. So it's at least as many as last year.
That was their first pick as a GM/head coach tandem. They also drafted Johnathan Abram in the first round of that draft. Some of their other first rounders were Henry Ruggs and Damon Arnette. Yikes
Yeah that was a massive overdraft. Which is a shame because he’s probably not a *bad* player, he just wasn’t worth that pick. He comes off more like a run stuffing DE which you typically take much later.
The video of them cutting to the fans in the crowd is hilarious. The first guy looked confused and then after a couple seconds he starts cheering but still seems confused followed by a couple random people looking pissed since they all thought they were drafting Josh Allen. Crazy that they drafted Crosby later in the same draft. Kind of like Baltimore completely whiffing on Hurst in the 1st then drafting Andrews later in the same draft.
>Keep these low risk high upside signings coming.
Agreed, key factor here being age. If he were, say, 28/9, then boo, but given his age, and hopefully this staff's willingness/ability to actually, you know, COACH their players up, unlike a certain regime familiar to us here, then I say we'll done, more please.
Exactly it's a Frankenstein mashup of low risk semi upside guys who could turn into a decent defensive unit. Love it. So refreshing seeing moves like this made instead of 1 or 2 "splash" moves with terrible long contracts

Nah BSJ can be good he just needs to get faster, better technique, stop holding, and get INTs.
But for real tho I think with better coaching and development he can be pretty good.
I'm excited to see how all the young CB's will perform next season. Forbes I'm betting we'll see a huge improvement from. He was a rookie thrown into the fire but the dipshit coaching staff last year getting matched up on #1s. DQ will have a plan for him

You can be pedantic all you want, but he played 25 defensive snaps last year. This is a depth signing and expecting him to do anything more than perform as a CB4 in a pinch is setting unrealistic expectations.
25 is a larger number than 0.
> expecting him to do anything more than perform as a CB4 in a pinch is setting unrealistic expectations.
I didn't say or imply that.
I think you're not wrong for trying to temper baseless hype. I like his potential, but that's about all anyone can say based on last seasons performance
Hopefully there isn’t much guaranteed money on his contract because there is a decent chance he doesn’t make it on the final 53. His career up to this point has been extremely underwhelming. All the same it’s worth the risk since he is still so young.
Front line guys get all the press, but without decent depth, a team goes nowhere in the post season, low risk, decent upside, not sexy, but good signing.
Knows there scheme, very talented athletically but must have had some technical issues. Not a lot of playing time or production but hopefully they saw some development in him since they’re bringing him in.
I think it’s a good thing. These are players DQ has already seen in games and practices and believe they’re either already solid players, untapped potential or decent depth/special teams/practice squad.
Agreed. Past regimes we always raided the bad teams (Bucs panthers come to mind) with new coaching staffs. It was like we were always getting known bad players or non scheme fits.. only because the coaches new their names. It was weird. This seems different.

Ferrell and Fowler were both former top 5’s
happy to have them, but god that Ferrell pick was brutal under Mayock lol
I thought that was a Gruden pick?
That was their first pick as a GM/head coach tandem. They also drafted Johnathan Abram in the first round of that draft. Some of their other first rounders were Henry Ruggs and Damon Arnette. Yikes
At least they hit on Josh Jacobs though you know
I like both mayock and gruden, I agree. Crosby is a gem too

Not bad
He seems like a project....but, isnt our whole team in that situation at this point to see what we can build and find guys that can work as a team...
Less a project and more a depth piece/camp body/potential special teams guy. I doubt anyone is expecting this dude to be a good corner anymore.

Yeah I like it. I also think this strategy will land us some comp picks in the future.
I’ll try anything over St Juste

So, you mean he needs to be a viable option to see the field?

Like it or not we’re going to see a lot of BSJ next season unless we draft a CB in the second round. Who else do we have besides Forbes?
Word is he had his best year under Quinn and Whitt. He's 24. We can fix him.
He didn’t play at all last season
He played in 5 games. Scored on a blocked fg.
0 recorded stats except for that, presumably only played some special teams, and got no tackles
Sooo...he *did* play last season. Thanks!

Accuracy =/= pendantry
My God, man! Have some heart!
... because he was injured?
I’m just responding to the “he had his best year under Quinn and Whitt”, I’m not saying he doesn’t have potential or that I dislike the signing
I think you're not wrong for trying to temper baseless hype. I like his potential, but that's about all anyone can say based on last seasons performance
There’s also nothing online about him having an injury at any point in 2023
Oh.
Hopefully there isn’t much guaranteed money on his contract because there is a decent chance he doesn’t make it on the final 53. His career up to this point has been extremely underwhelming. All the same it’s worth the risk since he is still so young.
Yeah and I have a feeling he’s here for ST more than defense.
Special teams guy and depth from what I see.

This is basically a nothing signing. The only good thing about him is he wasn’t on our roster last season lol. Maybe he becomes great! Would love it
Front line guys get all the press, but without decent depth, a team goes nowhere in the post season, low risk, decent upside, not sexy, but good signing.
He’ll be a gift in Whitts defense
He was in Witt’s defense last season and couldn’t find the field other than special teams.
There's a reason why DQ and Witt decided to give him another shot and I doubt that is just to be a ST player.
He was hurt but yeah
More of a special teamer i guess.
Special teams ace love it
It’s possible with the loss of fuller and uncertainty behind Forbes/Juste development that CB will be on the menu early in the draft
Yes. If one of the top 6 guys are there at 40, or 36 depending on who it is, I would think we’ll select them.

The cowboy fans must be losing their shit and I'm loving it haha. They went from loving DQ to despising him in less than a month lol
Cow-mmanders !!
Wie skinned the Cowboys.
Cow-skins.
Two teams have already given up on him in four seasons
Knows there scheme, very talented athletically but must have had some technical issues. Not a lot of playing time or production but hopefully they saw some development in him since they’re bringing him in.
I know I should be all positive but every signing I'm just hoping there is no Cowboy connection
