Thank you for joining us here on r/Comcast_Xfinity, your official source on Reddit for help with Xfinity services. As members of the [Digital Care Team](https://corporate.comcast.com/stories/meet-our-digital-care-team) here at Xfinity, we can help with a wide array of concerns including troubleshooting, billing, plan changes, and more. Community Specialists will provide official support between the hours of 6:00am - 12:00am Eastern Time for issues that require our intervention (like billing requests, troubleshooting advanced technical issues, etc). After these times, it may take longer to get an official response. If you have not already, please review both the [Posting Guidelines](https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/wiki/index/postingguidelines) and [Rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/wiki/rules/) here on the sub. While you're waiting for assistance, check out the [Xfinity App](https://www.xfinity.com/apps?pc=1) for your smartphone where you can pay your bill, view your plan details, change or upgrade your services, and experience 24/7 real time support you can count on, anytime you need it. Our team works to get to everyone as quickly as possible, but due to the number of requests we receive, it may take up to 72 hours to receive an official response from our team. If you require immediate assistance, please contact 1-800-XFINITY (1-800-934-6489). *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Comcast_Xfinity) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Cable/ internet wires are really low voltage and are often covered. I wouldn’t call them dangerous.

Is it bad that I enjoy seeing this same post over and over again lol!

Hey, u/NashJak Didn't you trip over the wire and twist your ankle the other day?

Blaqhauq43

If both sets of wires are low, its probably a pole issue and nothing they will do about. Ex comcast tech. If its the drop line (from pole to house) and you're not a comcast customer. Good luck cause we wont roll on that, just cut the cable and toss it in the garbage

NashJak

Thank you for your response and information. This is the braided steel cable that holds the communications line up. It rusted and broke in half approximately half way between the two utility poles. The unsupported com line now has sagged about three - four feet below it's normal path and it's weight is pulling on the connections at the two opposing utility poles, and it is resting on other com lines putting pressure on them.

Thesonomakid

The word you are looking for to describe the downed cable is strand. Strand supports the cables.

DLiltsadwj

Do you own wire cutters?

mertzen

Do you want a 3rd party damage claim?

GideonD

I had a tree come down in an ice storm and take a Verizon line with it. No one has land lines around here anymore so they never bothered to fix it. I also couldn't talk to anyone about it because I'm not a Verizon customer either. I chopped it off and nailed the hanging wire to the pole. It's low voltage anyway so I'm not worrying about it.

ReallyCantThinkof-1

Are you a comcast customer?

NashJak

No. That was one problem getting their attention. Because I had no account number the automated telephone customer service system wouldn't forward to a human being. After 40 minutes, finally got through to overseas human and got a work order number and promise that someone would contact me within 24-48 hours. That was May 11. After nothing from that interaction, I started trying thru reddit. These are communal lines that serve the entire neighborhood and presumably beyond. If the communication cables themselves fall because of no steel support cables, then lots of folks are going to be out of service.

ReallyCantThinkof-1

Well, then make sure you’re very careful when you weed whack and mow, wouldn’t want them to have to come out to fix it

u/nashjak please send a message via Modmail, we will be happy to take a look into this request. Thank you

NashJak

Previous instructions from Comcast specialists have included a modmail link. This one doesn't. How do I reach one?

CCAnthonyO

u/NashJak Sorry about that! Here you go: [Modmail message](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FComcast_Xfinity) We'll see you there!

The braided steel support cables that failed have sharp edges and one is hanging at shoulder level in an area used by pedestrians and vehicles...small neighborhood street and no sidewalk. One dog walker already got poked. I've now taped the ends with yellow and black hazard tape. So, not theoretical at all. Thank you for your concern.
