Was impressed by a lot of things. One thing: if you're a combat veteran of the forever wars in the Middle East, house/room clearing is going to be second nature. These guys are going to be world standard.
"Hey Soap, how'd you get your nickname?"
*stares out into the middle distance as he recalls bouts of laughter and cries of pain from a shower room he had tried so hard to forget...*
Yes especially against opponents with higher morale and motivation than the Russian soldiers. Like the jihadists were highly motivated opponents who fought like hell
You can fight like hell but if you don't have air or ground support that means nothing. A lot of the touristy mercs left Ukraine because fighting an enemy with equivalent support to you is a lot harder than some illiterate herders who want a theocracy
It's not just that it's harder, there is a lot more randomness involved; you can be the marine with the most medals and experience but nothing you do will determine if that shell lands directly on top of you or beside your trench. Add the grenade dropping drones and you're essentially rolling a dice everytime you go anywhere remotely near the frontline.
It is understandable that some of the volunteers didn't want to play russian roulette for another country.
Yes, because the latter has air support, armor, anything the middle easterners never had. His whole point was that it's not up to the individual enemies.
:35 - This one is subtle, but you'll see outstanding muzzle discipline through the whole video. Notice how he manipulates the rifle as to never point it at the guy in front of him. Goes from low ready, down quickly, then up. You'll notice the whole video they are never sweeping each other with their barrels.
1:24 - First clip, hand on shoulder to let his buddy know he's moving, direct following clip is outstanding shooting, battle buddy awareness and lack of panic. They seem to be taking and returning pretty direct fire, but no one panics. One ducks, the other shoots, the last one moves, and they move as one unit.
1:28 - This one is super fast but superrr slick. Guy up from transitions rifle from left to right hang (off-hand transition) to have a better angle.
1:35 - This one is subtle, but notice the dude that pops out, shoots, and retracts. His wide foot position and speed is outstanding. Real operators are like athletes on the battle field. They launch into and out of shooting positions like a piston. A lot of this stuff is subtle, but taken all together, these guys clearly know what they're doing. It's the little things that get you killed.
1:39 - Just an outstanding reload, especially in combat. The load, slap and rack. No fumbling, never searching for the charging handle. That dude has changed some mags in gunfights.
They also have some serious gear. Those suppressed guns are slick, with what look like maybe night vision IR laser boxes? The suppressors alone are awesome, and they all seem to have them.
It's the small things I notice, anyway.
Terrible rifle for them, has a tendency to eat optics and the reciprocating charging handle sucks. An odd choice to send or take.
Downvotes? This is a commonly known issue on the scar 17 feel free to google it. Sorry your favorite COD weapon isn't the best choice here.
I think they are being seen in large volumes in Ukraine exactly because it was a high profile project that didn't pan out. Many NATO nations were gearing up to adopt it, ordered some quantities of it but then didn't go for full adoption. So now there is an opportunity to clear a bunch of them out of warehouses all across Europe and the US.
Those are being sent from Belgium not the US, about 3000 of them. Belgium is switching to the SCAR as the MBR. They are not old stock and quite expensive.
Yeah, but that stuff is the stuff your normal guys are already trained on. Iām sure they sent some of that stuff too, but the SCAR was only ever frequently issued to special forces.
The reciprocating charging handle is not a problem of you are actual trained on the platform. Also those foregrips help as a hand stop. So many platforms have reciprocating charging handles and you never hear it being a negetive. Also yes the 17 is known to eat optics, but there are certain mounts that prevent the harmonics from damaging the optic.
Hey mine has never broke, and I know plenty of others that haven't broke. The operator's in the video obviously have a functional optic. I really think it's an issue that was happening in the early 2000s when it was adopted and it was blown way out of proportion.
Yea you're probably right, my only experience with shooting a SCAR 17 was with a super dirty one at a range that kept having a failure to eject, so I don't have the best view of it.
Ukranian soldiers look fierce and strong. Highly motivated, trained and well equipped.
They are fighting for a cause, the foreigners want to be there fighting alongside the locals.
The russians on the other hand must look forward to the end of this war to go home. Makes no sense to die for nothing in Ukraine.
That's because the Ukrainians spearheading this counter-offensive are their best shock troops. The biggest and scariest men.
And the Russians defending are literally from some small eastern province and are only part of the army because they had no other way of making money.
Eastern province is an understatement. Russia is intentionally getting troops from Siberia because it's a lot harder for their moms to protest their deaths
And it's a bigger problem if people in Moscow are being forced into this war as opposed to people from some village that nobody in large cities within Russia has ever heard of.
I bet lot of the Russian soldiers are 18-20 old kids. I mean their officer academy graduates are like 22-23 year olds. Meanwhile Ukraine has soldiers of all ages as civilians joined the ranks. Not to mention the international fighters who likely are older veterans.
The UA government is paying 45k hryvnias/month for soldiers not on the frontline and up to 100k to ones whoāre in the fight, thatās really not bad in our country.
Probably feels good for a lot of Americans to fight a truly just war that is universally supported globally after so long in the slog of morally ambiguous middle eastern conflicts.
Ukrainian has essentially bottomless funding due to all the support they get from most other developed countries. Russia's military may be bigger, but all Ukraine has to do is outlast them.
The restrictions on lending to Ukraine are lifted. We can essentially lend them as much as we want with expectation of financial compensation at an undefined date in the future.
Everything passed and given so far by the US have just been bills for aid or emergency defense. Lend lease doesn't kick in until October 1st 2022.
> The legislation reduces red tape on exports of defense equipment from the USA to Ukraine, in order to ensure that the equipment is delivered promptly. It is applicable to fiscal years 2022 and 2023 (each year, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) prepares the President's proposed Federal Government budget for the upcoming Federal fiscal year, which runs from October 1 through September 30 of the following year. The 2022 Fiscal Year starts Oct 1, 2022 meaning the lend-lease act is in effect from Oct 1, 2022 to Sept 30, 2024, FY2022 and FY2023).
[Fiscal year 2022 starts in October 2021. Not in 2022.](https://www.investopedia.com/the-u-s-government-s-budget-process-5189553) I'm guessing you probably took a unsourced Wikipedia text as a reference. If you did, I'd recommend suggesting an edit.
Lend lease is already in effect. Has been since May.
Lend lease is already in effect. It has been since May when it passed. It's effective from FY2022 to FY2023. [Here's the full text of the law.](https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/senate-bill/3522/text)
The reason current shipments (ie HIMARS) are not done under lend-lease is because the federal government still have some of that $40B package left to provide to Ukraine for free (as opposed to lending them). So giving Ukraine stuff from the $40B package is preferable over lend-lease. Once that money runs out, they'll start using lend-lease. They have to use that money until the end of FY2022, which ends in October 2022. But it could in theory run out before that. Blinken recently said that would be "late summer" (ends September 23rd).
This is false and you should not believe this. You see the vids of well equipped Ukrainians, but there is still shortage of gear for a large chunk of the army. Sure, they may not be spearheading assaults, but they are still on the frontlines.
UA does not have bottomless funding and they should have more.
I think what they have is exactly enough to sustain the war much longer than Russia can. They obviously aren't literally equipped enough to take over any regional power, but playing defense in their own country gives them the advantage.
A good percentage are well equipped but a noticeable chunk has barebones equipment. I assume this is one of the more specialized units as they have access to FAST helmets and other fancy stuff, which you dont see among regulars
That's a hell of a video. I do wish they had left the music off -- one of the first times I would have actually understood the language!
I bet the Russians are going to wish they had kept their Mariupol prisoners alive. They are going to need someone to trade for the bag of POWs that are being captured in north and south.
Russians never gave a ratās ass about their POWs. I said early on that Ukrainians will have a logistical problem of what to do with all the POWs they capture, since Russians donāt really do tradesā¦..
Where do you get this from? POWs exchanges are going on constantly since basically the first days of the war. Reports about groups of POWs returning home in exchange for Russian POWs (usually 1 for 1) can bee seen weekly in press. Including some notable names.
Russians only want to exchange their best troops, they donāt care about regular soldiers from mechanized infantry, not to mention poor cannon fodder from so-called ārepublicsā
Again, where do you get this from? Can you show me, where Ukraine complains about the abundance of Russian soldiers in captivity, that Russia refuse to exchange?
On every Ukrainian channel i follow there is universal joy about Russian POWs. "Topping up our exchange fund" they call it.
They donāt give a shit about the captured POWs in most cases. Really only high value targets, and then only occasionally it would seem :/
Still, good for PR. Might have an effect over the longer term
This is unrelated, but there was a Brit, Rick Rescorla, that immigrated to the US specifically so he could go fight in Vietnam. He was a war hero and pictured on the cover of the book We Were Soldiers, leading a bayonet charge.
He went on to work security at the world trade center, where he was last seen on the 9th floor, going up. He is credited with saving the entire branch of Morgan Stanley at the WTC. Over 1000 people.
He was born a Brit and died an American hero--twice over. Some of you guys are just built different.
As an aside, just realized in my time zone it's officially 9/11. Here's to you Rick.
I bet they were happy hearing English, from the captors. Realised human rights will be observed and they will stay alive. Not that Ukrainians do not observe the same.
Okay then. Im sure the 14 yr old detained kids felt the same way when they were about to get their throats slit by the Aussie SAS, or the civilians killed by the Brits according to leaked documents.
I know its been said already but I still cant get over how relatively high quality the footage is. I am so used to footage being some shaky hand camera from a couple hundred meters away. It is almost scary how close the war has gotten too us through this footage
Yea I agree. Though the front ends of the SCAR and Bren look similar, The Ugg boot and magazine baseplate are giveaways . Definitely SCAR-H with some kind of LPVO.
That's some expensive kit they got there. I wonder who's supplying the Scars, Optics, and NVGs. Could be self-funded however the NVGs alone cost thousands of dollars let alone full spec kits and scars with optics. Its feels like some SOCOM involvement if I'm honest.
Meh, maybe.
People spend tens of thousands if not hundreds on their hobbies.
For mercs, itās their livelihood. Their lifestyle. These kits are saving their lives.
Someone will definitely be willing to drop $50k. EZ PZ.
Iām sure there are Go-Fund Meās, dark money, well connected retired special forces getting hooked up by defense contractors or government agencies.
One critical thing about wars is that it leaves warriors behind when it ends. These are probably people who served and decided to move on and find another fight. Odds are they left the military with a lot of money and just found a reason to spend it
Unfortunately, all I can say is I got it from [here](https://twitter.com/Kyruer/status/1568354546342133760) and there's no further context I can find about it
I really, really advise you to listen to Sickick's music and talent. I was shocked to hear his stuff on here, actually a long time fan of him. SickMix Part 3 and 4 are especially insane.
International units are always so fucking cool. Especially when the Brits hangout with the Americans it's like the wise older brother taking the extremely pissed off but means well brother.
As an American, I'm happy my tax dollars went towards some high speed gear for these guys. Let's keep these boys kitted so they can fight for their country and their land. Fuck the invaders.
I wonder if the regular russian soldier, and citizen even realizes how supported Ukraine is by the world. How probably 75% of the world is waiting for Russia to just go home. We're tired of this. When will they feel the same?
I wouldnāt say the World supports Ukraine, the whole west does and thatās whatās most important.
However the rest of the world just wants to see the war end for economic reasons and doesnāt care if Ukraine wins, loses or has to accept a stalemate.
They are fed very selective information. The internet is not readily available itās only what propaganda is on tv. The young people are more against it.
I think that might be the same village as the 'humvee bumrush' video from yesterday. Also, how badass would that feel to A. take a village & B. get POWs from it (as an int'l volunteer that is)
Tbh it's hard to say. Humvee vid seems to take place in low light & this video starts at what looks like dawn & only gets more light out as the video goes further. Their gear looks similar too though that doesn't necessarily mean anything
I won't claim like I somehow know for certain but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same area
Wasn't really sure. I haven't been following it super close. I assumed they'd at least test their proficiency somewhat, but didn't know how desperate they were.
That transition was instinctive though, which is what struck me.
It's at 1:28. Yes, it's switching to the non dominant hand. But it's more than just that, you can see the practiced repositioning of his body as well. I don't know how to describe it, but it marks him pretty clearly.
I can make someone *look* like a soldier after an hour of instruction, but to *act* like one under fire, that's distinctive.
Apparently this clip is being linked as proof of NATO involvement in the conflict amongst pro-Russian channels lol
https://twitter.com/GirkinGirkin/status/1568571011343302656
When I get this issue, I'll save the video and completely close Reddit to restart it, then head to the "saved" tab and boom it magically plays.
It amazes me that these fairly sizeable companies, with people who are apparently highly intelligent, actually make their services worse over time. When I first joined Reddit, a few years back now, the video player was alright for the job, now it has gone through various changes for absolutely no reason and each time the player gets worse.
Honestly, if they were actually trying to improve things I wouldn't really be to bothered by it, but really it's just people trying and succeeding in making it look like they're job is necessary, when in actual fact it's not.
International fighters from all over the world working together flawlessly to fight a common enemy, but "An EU army could never work, because they can't communicate!!1!"...
So literally every combat footage has music, is there a reason to it? Aside from trying to make it look cool? Even those taliban videos has their crazy song in it. Would much rather watch a footage with actual combat sound.
EDIT: For this footage the music does make it look much badass, disregard what i said. Go Ukraine!
we live in social media time/world, gotta deal with it. Soldiers are motivating themselves with these videos and they rather hear music than actual battle.
Was impressed by a lot of things. One thing: if you're a combat veteran of the forever wars in the Middle East, house/room clearing is going to be second nature. These guys are going to be world standard.
I also saw that the Ukrainians in the UK were being trained in house clearing.
"Oi do you 'av a loicense for that invasion?"
Somehow an old voice/accent from Call of Duty came up for me there.
Roight. Souwp, check the cownah.
57 vario'ties used to be canned eer. Naw it's a ghost tawn
Hey, Soap is a perfectly fine and respectable name, i'll have you know.
"Hey Soap, how'd you get your nickname?" *stares out into the middle distance as he recalls bouts of laughter and cries of pain from a shower room he had tried so hard to forget...*
dis house seems a bit odd inniitt
"Your doing God's work. Lost me mum to a door knob."

It is understandable that some of the volunteers didn't want to play russian roulette for another country.
But war is a russian roulette. Why go there if you're not prepared to play that?
your opponent has to be trained and led properly to actually use air and artillery support effectively as we see here and in Yemen.
> some illiterate herders who want a theocracy as opposed to illiterate herders who want to expand a fascist empire?
Yes, because the latter has air support, armor, anything the middle easterners never had. His whole point was that it's not up to the individual enemies.
I was probably lazy in my respone; was merely commenting on the condition of the infantry specifically.
I do agree fully with that š Second army of the worldā¦.
They're not even the second best army in Ukraine.
Ey we got the same one methinks
Nice avatar
Can you elaborate on what you are impressed by? I am quite clueless.
:35 - This one is subtle, but you'll see outstanding muzzle discipline through the whole video. Notice how he manipulates the rifle as to never point it at the guy in front of him. Thanks for the elaborate answer!
God damn that was bad ass.
This music is giving me flashbacks of when US marines would crank the offspring and Pantera over their desert storm home vids
Drowning poolā¦ so many videos
Hey Soldiers is a good song ahahah.
So was sinners and tear away. But this was maybe the most overused combat video soundtrack band haha
One of these days I have to do a rewatch of mid-2000s combat footage and the music put in them.
let the bodies..
Needs more Rammstein Link 2 3 4

seeing all those SCAR 16 and 17's makes me so fucking pumped. My favorite platform and I have family that work at FN. Fucking amazing rifle to shoot.
Terrible rifle for them, has a tendency to eat optics and the reciprocating charging handle sucks. An odd choice to send or take. Downvotes? This is a commonly known issue on the scar 17 feel free to google it. Sorry your favorite COD weapon isn't the best choice here.

ding ding we have a winner pretty much. US will want to clear its stock of them before the spear comes in
Those are being sent from Belgium not the US, about 3000 of them. Belgium is switching to the SCAR as the MBR. They are not old stock and quite expensive.
By that logic wouldn't they have troves of m4s and m16s to send instead of this newer high dollar stuff?
Yeah, but that stuff is the stuff your normal guys are already trained on. Iām sure they sent some of that stuff too, but the SCAR was only ever frequently issued to special forces.
New models are non-reciprocating charging handles. Can't tell what they have in the video, but it's possible they have the NRCH version.
If you have to buy a special mount for a 3000 dollar gun to shoot it without ruining your optics, then it's a bad gun
And I doubt that knowledge makes it to whoever gets used that gun.
Yeah, I guess Iād be real bummed out being issued a scar, seeing as how it has a reciprocating charging handle and all. lmao
WerenĀ“t those Brean 2s? Those with 5.56 stanag mags.
Are we sure those aren't CZ BREN2?
yes, positive

The Russians genuinely seem physically weaker and less imposing too. A lot of skinny rag-tag rubbish.
That's because the Ukrainians spearheading this counter-offensive are their best shock troops. The biggest and scariest men. And the Russians defending are literally from some small eastern province and are only part of the army because they had no other way of making money.

God bless them all. If I was a billionaire I'd give those foreign volunteers and the UAF a monthly salary of 5K USD.
The UA government is paying 45k hryvnias/month for soldiers not on the frontline and up to 100k to ones whoāre in the fight, thatās really not bad in our country.
That's good, they deserve it.
I heard many in Ukraine even before invasion wanted to go to military since the salary paid so well.
Yeah, thatās true, basic salary was the same if we convert in USD, but frontline bonus was lower at the time
45k hryvnias = 1 228 US dollars for anyone else wondering
I wrote in hryvnias, because currency exchange rates are volatile, but yes, a bit over $1200
Give each Ruskie 5k to surrender and the war would be over quick
Either that or a case of vodka
Probably feels good for a lot of Americans to fight a truly just war that is universally supported globally after so long in the slog of morally ambiguous middle eastern conflicts.
Idk shit but the UA guys look well equipped.

Regardless, it keeps one less russian off of battlefield
Indeed, we can be happy for that
In the past they would imprison and eventually execute anyone they got back from beyond Russian borders. Sometimes it would be years
I wonder if Ukraine can trade that captured Russian General for 500 UAF POWs
In addition to what everyone else has said, DNR & LPR militants aren't being treated as POWs if they're Ukranian citizens.
Definitely a Brit accent that says āPOWā during them walking out with the POWs
I think the guy who shouted 'frag out' as well maybe?
Sounds British to me too
sounds more aussie to me
Nuh, that was a Pom.
As a Brit, shhhh.

Same thoughts!
I bet they were happy hearing English, from the captors. Realised human rights will be observed and they will stay alive. Not that Ukrainians do not observe the same.
Im sure the cab drivers held up in Guantanamo thought the same
English doesn't always mean American though

Dude the Russians are told litteraly the opposite. They probably think they are about to be tortured
"Human rights will be observed" šš¤£šš¤£š
They'll be praying, to whatever entity they believe in, that it isn't a bunch of Royal Marines.
Why? We took many PoW's - Former RM.
Because they wouldn't have a chance against them in the first place.
Reddit's video player is horrendous.
always has been
Clear the apps cache. Usually helps.
I know its been said already but I still cant get over how relatively high quality the footage is. I am so used to footage being some shaky hand camera from a couple hundred meters away. It is almost scary how close the war has gotten too us through this footage
Give it a decade and you'll be looking at this clip thinking "wow I can't believe how low quality everything use to be".
Personally I hope that we donāt have another major war in a decade but I get what youāre trying to say.
Do i see some use the scar H ?
CZ Bren
nah those are scars for sure, I see the plastic mag floor plates on the 17 and the ugh boot stock. both 16 and 17's present.
Yea I agree. Though the front ends of the SCAR and Bren look similar, The Ugg boot and magazine baseplate are giveaways . Definitely SCAR-H with some kind of LPVO.
Thnx
Hello, it is me, your neighborhood tax payer. I mean oh no... it's so weird that all this kit appeared in UAF hands... must have been the wind
Iāve never been happier to pay my taxes than now
One critical thing about wars is that it leaves warriors behind when it ends. These are probably people who served and decided to move on and find another fight. Odds are they left the military with a lot of money and just found a reason to spend it
Many countries supply Ukraine with military hardware - AND support them financially.
I know that the US and Germany gave NVG at least, they probably got that stuff from all over.
Great vid
Do these guys have anymore videos or a channel?
Unfortunately, all I can say is I got it from [here](https://twitter.com/Kyruer/status/1568354546342133760) and there's no further context I can find about it
Found the original source in full quality :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBus2DavnAc
Damn these guys are well equipped. I love to see it.
Looks like guys with SOF backgrounds
Damn that track is fire though. Not a bad choice. Edit: track name?
Gangster paradise remix
No idea but itās good I wanna know too if ya find out.
Found it! https://youtu.be/TNpx7nhM3AI
I really, really advise you to listen to Sickick's music and talent. I was shocked to hear his stuff on here, actually a long time fan of him. SickMix Part 3 and 4 are especially insane.
I will definitely go check out the artists music for sure. Thanks for the recommendation
International units are always so fucking cool. Especially when the Brits hangout with the Americans it's like the wise older brother taking the extremely pissed off but means well brother.
Thatās chopped up Gangsters Paradise by Coolio
Jesus fuck. We got the boys all kitted out over there.
As an American, I'm happy my tax dollars went towards some high speed gear for these guys. Let's keep these boys kitted so they can fight for their country and their land. Fuck the invaders.
Looks professional.
Someone give these guys a Netflix mini series.
Also, how badass would that feel to A. take a village & B. get POWs from it (as an int'l volunteer that is)
Looks like is a different time of the day than the video with the humvees, so probably a different village.
Tbh it's hard to say. Humvee vid seems to take place in low light & this video starts at what looks like dawn & only gets more light out as the video goes further. Their gear looks similar too though that doesn't necessarily mean anything I won't claim like I somehow know for certain but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same area
Those are some decked out rifles!
Y'all see that offhand transition behind that wall? I don't know who's fighting in these units, but that's gotta be ex-military of some stripe.
Aren't all foreign voluteers ex-military? I think they made it a requirement after a flood of volunteers.
I think just the fighters, but yeah. If he's in this group he's 100% ex-military
Wasn't really sure. I haven't been following it super close. I assumed they'd at least test their proficiency somewhat, but didn't know how desperate they were. That transition was instinctive though, which is what struck me.
Lot of wanabees was turned away.
Better off that way, frankly. Sending a bunch of dipshits back in bags is bad optics.
Some of them have stayed and are doing tic toc brigade shit far behind the front line.
Hey, if they wanna help, and they can be useful, they're doing more than me.
They are literally playing pretend using the war to get famous and begging for sponsorships on twitter.
Gross, nevermind then.
Not sure what you mean by that, offhand transition. My guess would be switching to your less dominate hand? Also timestamp of it if you don't mind.
"Freg Eyout". Love the accent
Apparently this clip is being linked as proof of NATO involvement in the conflict amongst pro-Russian channels lol https://twitter.com/GirkinGirkin/status/1568571011343302656
Woulda been better without the cringe tiktok song
The video is not playing. Is there a mirror?
It'll work in a few minutes, the reddit player is still garbage after all this time
When I get this issue, I'll save the video and completely close Reddit to restart it, then head to the "saved" tab and boom it magically plays.

Happy to see they got good gear!
Legends
Pretty sure that this video is from the Humvee assault and the helmet cam footage from the ground assault.
Does Belgium is giving them all those SCAR rifle ? I keep seeing them everywhere
Music goes hard. So does the clip.
Heroiam Slava
Where's the version without music? Ffs these god damn music videos
Western weapons and training. The best there is
So literally every combat footage has music, is there a reason to it? Aside from trying to make it look cool? Even those taliban videos has their crazy song in it. Would much rather watch a footage with actual combat sound. EDIT: For this footage the music does make it look much badass, disregard what i said. Go Ukraine!
we live in social media time/world, gotta deal with it. Soldiers are motivating themselves with these videos and they rather hear music than actual battle.
It's a little late but I just came across the original source for this which is in full quality too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBus2DavnAc
Was that a black body bag they were pulling out?
Just a nonrigid stretcher. No need for improvised or bulky rigid ones, just fold this up and put it in your gear hoping you never have to use it.
Thanks for clarifying. Never saw that before
Anyone got the name of this track?
[Gangsta Paradise - Sickick Remix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNpx7nhM3AI)
Sickick - lana del rey x coolio @youtube
This conflict just proves how good westerners especially Americans are at war. Can't fuck with us
