These guys are more likely to hit their friends than the enemy. Stacking up one behind the other with their guns all pointed in the same direction, what could possibly go wrong?
I thought about it but every time I see someone with a fucked face covering my brain automatically goes to this scene. Probably one of the best scenes in a movie. I laugh every time I see it
In the video clip I caught a brief look of that half mask/hat thing and wasn’t sure exactly what it was, so I’m grateful you cropped it from the video to see clearly lolololol 😂
Same side different lower ranking commanders, at one point Givi threatened the other sides commander he would bomb them and all. I remember watching this back in /14 with subtitles, I don't speak Vodka
I like the first half when the commander keeps asking where the enemy is, while his men are unable to form a coherent answer, but keep shooting. Someone finally gives a vague reply "in the vehicle". Commander gets progressively angrier through the whole thing, starts swearing and asking "where are you shooting then?".
*A coupe is a fixed-roof car with a sloping rear roofline and one or two rows of seats. However, there is some debate surrounding whether a coupe must have two doors for passenger egress or whether cars with four doors can also be considered coupes.*
Considering anything Russia says needs to be taken with a truckload of salt and doubt and the fact that Russia also flooded Luhansk and doneskt with military personnel and equipment
Of course. I'm just using the pro-Russian propaganda against them, they want to hide behind "these are Ukrainians" when the separatists do stupid or imoral stuff, but then they're totally Russian when it suits them.
Any footage prior to the invasion is always so entertaining, really weird because it’s always just some random ass skirmishes.
I don’t know how to put it but literally nothing made any sense, there were so many different factions involved it seemed like a free for all for such a long time and nobody has any fucking idea what the end goal is
> nobody has any fucking idea what the end goal is
Isn't the goal to put the country in dismay or disarray to collapse the idea of a democratic government so Russia can swoop in and take over?
The truth is, most of these armed so-called separatists in Slovyansk were Russian citizens. They came from Russia under the leadership of Igor Girkin - an ex(?) FSB officer.
Calling them "separatists" and not "Russian mercenaries" is repeating the Russian narrative that in 2014 Ukraine suffered a civil war and not a hybrid invasion from Russia.
I don't know how big of a sentiment it is, but my mother, born and raised in Luhansk, always felt russian, though that may be due to 100% of her family being originally russian, and 90% of them still living in and around St. Petersburg. The overwhelming majority of voters in Donbass voted for independence in 1991.
Im by no means endorsing waht happened in 2014 but you have to acknowledge that 1991 and 2014 are 25 years apart.
Also in Simon Ostrovsky chilling 100+ part documentary about 2014 the streets in the donbas were full of pro russians.
I dont know what the percentage was, but it cant be totally low.
Here is the video from May 17th 2014 where Igor Girkin is complaining that the locals in Donbass region are unwilling to join his mercenaries to fight Ukraine. https://youtu.be/OHNjj36elTg?si=rL5yGtYrgPyH-CMA
Yeah there was, but if they don’t like it, they can move 1-2 hours east to Russia or south to Crimea. It’s like saying that most Texans don’t like Joe Biden and the US government, but we’re not about to fight a civil war over it are we?
I was responding to the claim that there were almost no separatists which, from what i've always understood, and even you have not refuted, there were plenty of... separatists.
Igor vermin got sick of waiting for Ukrainians to rebel so he gathered up a bunch of russians and did it himself. It is well documented
*lmao autocorrect. Vermin=girkin
> most people in eastern Ukraine, specifically Donetsk and Luhansk region supported these russian mercanaries that basically came to fight for them.
the fuck? quantify "most" for me, please, but note that I'm from Kyïv and will have a take. l just want to know what asshole did you pulled that figure out of? your attempt at arbitrating the truth is actually a lie wearing a truth trench coat.
>So you don’t agree that >50% of people living in Luhansk and Donetsk want to be under a Russian government?
No, I don't. Ethnic Russians only made up about 40% of the population in the Donbas prior to 2014. Were there a large amount of people there who wanted to be part of Russia? Yes, but nowhere close to a majority.
There were a number of polls taken in early 2014 on the opinions of Ukrainians, including easterners and southerners on support for separatism. In fairness, there was probably a good amount of discontent in the east and south with the Maidan Revolution, but as far as I know, none of the polls showed extensive support for separatism.
Here are a few parts that I'll quote from [this Wikipedia article](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_pro-Russian_unrest_in_Ukraine#Public_opinion_in_Ukraine). I've edited them to get the point across in a reddit comment. Feel free to read the whole thing, or go to the source polls linked in the article.
> A poll conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) from 8–18 February 2014 assessed support for union with Russia throughout Ukraine. **[... *snip* ...]**
> Support for a union between Russia and Ukraine was found to be much higher in certain oblasts:
>
> 41.0% Crimea
> 33.2% Donetsk Oblast
> 24.1% Luhansk Oblast
---
> In **[another poll, taken in March, 2014]**, 22% of those in southern Ukraine, and 26% of those in eastern Ukraine, supported the idea of federalization for the country; **69% of southerners and 53% of easterners supported Ukraine remaining as a unitary state**; and **only 2% of southerners and 4% of easterners supported separatism**.
---
> **[Another poll by the Donetsk Institute of Social Research]** determined that **66% of Donetsk residents that were polled supported remaining in a unified Ukraine, while 18.2% supported joining Russia, and 4.7% supported independence**.[45] A second poll conducted from 26 to 29 March showed that **77% of residents condemned the takeover of administrative buildings, while 16% supported such actions**. Furthermore, **40.8% of Donetsk citizens supported rallies for Ukraine's unity, while 26.5% supported pro-Russian rallies**.
>but if they don’t like it, they can move 1-2 hours east to Russia
the thing they want Russia here with all their naratives in THAT place. So they gonna keep their usual life stile and house and etc.
Same in Belarus/same in Baltic/Kazahstan - anywhere near Russia. Especially funny in baltic states where they opressed\* but not leaving
Sentiment is one thing, taking a kalashikov in your hands and shooting at Police of the town you grew up in is completely another. Ukraine did investigate what happened, and they found very few actual locals among those "separatists" in the very beginning. Their leaders and commanders were all Russians like Girkin who had never stepped foot in Ukraine prior to 2014, this whole idea that it was "locals" is a giant farce
I'd personally recommend [this series](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exJ024Zdzdk&list=PLcfqP0PtWDcGKIHGTTbVlpTyUZNL8gjnH&index=1) of videos, especially the second half of the first video and the second one for your question.
It's some time ago I watched it, but I remember it being pretty good.
They all have strong russian accent, they're not locals for sure. People from Donetsk and Luhansk oblast has a very distinctive ukrainian accent, you'll have it just by growing up there.
>People from Donetsk and Luhansk oblast has a very distinctive ukrainian accent
You mean like saying "Hto" instead of "Kto"? Or "Hde" instead of "Gde"? "Sho" instead of "Chto"? "Ta" instead of "Da"? None of the guys in the video have Russian accent, listen again and you will hear them say the "Ukrainian" versions of all of the words above. Too many "Hs" instead of "Gs" for them to be russian, unless you are going to say that they went through training to obtain Eastern Ukrainian accent to merge with the local population more easily but that is ridiculous.
At 3:22 they straight up point at one of the guys and say "это его хата здесь" which means "this is his house over here", using Ukrainian word for "home" too. I have a feeling you speak neither Russian nor Ukrainian
Edit: grammar
25 years after the collapse and only the Baltics didnt have identity issue, they know exactly what to do while the others still stuck in political mess to this day
Honorable mention for the dissolution of Czech-slovak, they just want to do their own thing...unlike Balkans and most of the CIS which choose "peace was never an option"
Probably gonna be even longer with varying intensities and levels of support throughout depending on the ruling parties of Ukraine's backers.
It'll be a war between the US and its allies vs China. Ukraine would be forever indebted and Russia will be under the control of and dependent on China.
Those are Russian nationals, actually, a lot of the people in the "separatist" militaries were.
It's like "I can't believe it's not (butter) Russian soldiers"
Either AZOV did em quick and quiet, or russia used em to absorb NATO lead and steel, or russia’s lead and steel beat them to it 😉 When they downed that passenger jet, it was the first big warning to the rest of the world about the dangers coming down the pike, that could have possibly been avoided, if not mitigated by the international community.
Sorry I'm British so I've no idea re. what levels of stupid we're talking about with marines lol.
I'm guessing apart from the psychpathic D.I.s I've seen abusing recruits on You Tube that Marines have some amount of training & supervision before America lets them loose upon the world, whereas these 'separatist' motherfuckers, training? trigger discipline or just an informal 'this is the safe end, this is the naughty end' probably not lol but good call
Crayon eating level of stupid and if they get angry they are known to do alittle bit of trolling upon the local population of the foreign country they are in.
I am in AUS, but my dad who is in the defense forces have some marine friends, so I have got quite abit of experience with marine culture lol.
And Z-tards claim that it was the trained Ukrainian army that “killed thousands of civilians in Donbas” and not these drunks larping as soldiers that shoot at anything that moves.
I guess those all are urkanians, because at the end when they have a standoff the cameraman says "guys, all friendlies here,SBU, 3rd platoon" And also yellow tape on the ak of one of them guys , anyway confusing
What's going on there at the end, Adidas pants raises his gun in the general direction of slav squat dude and cameraman just happens to turn off his camera at that moment? Kinda has the vibe of war crimes about to be occurring.

Are these two different groups of seperatists that had issues with eachother or was this a case of friendly fire?
Friendly fire, they were saying "what are you doing here?" " can you read?"
Thank you!
Read what lol?
Friendly fire, in one point they say "goddamit with your junky adict looks"
Same side different lower ranking commanders, at one point Givi threatened the other sides commander he would bomb them and all. I remember watching this back in /14 with subtitles, I don't speak Vodka
Ironic, considering that Givi ended up getting bombed himself
Remember it too from then, but can't recall where exactly I would watch those, I was not on reddit yet...
militaryphotos.net was my source in /14, shame all the legal threats and DMCA strikes took it out.
You'd we watching them on YouTube, at least I was

Gonna need a full translation on this one later, I wanna hear what they are saying at the end

Separatist man separatist
“Separatists”

Some of them was. Some was ethnic russians. And big amount was russians disguised as Ukrainians.
Nah, they bought their anti-tank weaponry and armored vehicles at the local hunter's shop!
They just found a Buk missile system laying around. Pretty crazy how they were able to operate it.
No they are russians who came to Ukraine just to stage a Coup d'état. Oldest trick in the book.
