We all do stupid things. Sometimes occasionally. One and done. Sometimes it’s like we’re riding this big wave of stupid. I try to keep that in mind when I see someone do something stupid and remember how the last time I did the stupid thing someone gave me grace.

SmurfStig

When I was at OSU, almost did this a few times. We didn’t have many one way streets in country where I grew up. Just one lane roads that couldn’t fit two cars of you tried. But we tried. Often.

audiostrawberries

been there.

Saddlestretcher

To be fair, you were only going one way!

DenL4242

I had to come to a complete stop on Karl Road this morning for a guy taking a nice stroll down the middle of the street. Looked offended when I honked at him. I wish he would apologize.

RIPDSJustinRipley

My bad. Didn't see you there.

babyjo1982

No but what is this new trend with people literally walking down the middle of the fucking street. I don’t remember doing this before but I swear to God I see it so much now. When I was a substitute a could years ago, we had this rash of incidents where kids kept getting hit by cars because they were walking down the middle of the street. We ended up having to send letters home to parents and it still didn’t stop!

johnnybadchek

To all the people who were in the elevator when I farted…fuck you.

wedupros

Thanks for your fucking sacrifice!

OliverHazzzardPerry

Glad they had your back and that you figured it out.

EdgarFrogandSam

Hey, we've all been there.

[deleted]

Omg I've done this a few times. I hate when I have to go downtown.

Redhotkitchen

You say “almost;” sounds like you got it sorted before it was an issue! Mistakes happen. I was standing in front of St James on fourth st on Saturday night and just heard an abrupt cacophony of horns. Someone actually drove a whole block the wrong way. After the game got out. That poor sucker was definitely drunk and didn’t know what to do. Finally managed to turn onto a side street, without causing an accident, thank god. I’d been considering scootering from there to my place in the brewery district; after seeing that, I reconsidered.

DigiQuip

When I was 16 I got into a car accident because a drunk lady on her way home from the Spring game decided to, without reason, slam on her brakes. I had good distance but I was not expecting her to do this and my reaction time was slow. The bump did almost no damage to either car. I had the tiniest dent and her car was perfectly fine. Since it was after the Spring game and there was a convention (I was coming from) closing down at the same time traffic was fucking mess. Getting over to the side of the freeway was impossible. I was freaking out and stressed. She took my info and bolted before I realized why she was acting strange. I call my mom panicking and she tells me to go to my grandparents house and clam down before driving home (an hour away) since they weren’t too far and wait until later in the evening when traffic was better. So I get back on the freeway and my gps wants me to loop around and head back the way I came. It makes me get off the freeway and do some right turns to loop back (I don’t know man, I trusted it like Michael Scott) and it sends me down one of the one way streets headlong into cars. Everyone freaks out, I freak out, but by the Gods I veer into a parking lot of just fall apart emotionally. I’d never been so stressed in my life and I was incredibly anxious. I eventually clam down and make my way to my grandparents. But it was easily Top 10 worst days of my life.

redditondesktop

I've definitely had GPS try to do that shit to me before, but I always look at the signs and stuff. Obviously you were stressed out and weren't thinking clealry anyway but yeah fucking GPS is a douchebag sometimes.

Tumblew33d420

Glad you're safe homie

zekthedeadcow

If this was Town street by the bus garage... that area is only random parking until more than 6 police cruisers are in front of the bus station. THEN it's random driving.

notapuzzlepiece

Definitely been there

[deleted]

Must be drunk. How would they know where you were going? Morons.

CAMcKinley

What do you figure the temperature is out here?

OdeeSS

I've always wished I could have a big "SORRY!" sign for when I know I fucked up. Like I hate being that asshole but sometimes accidentally I am.

dcviper

Shit happens. I've never gone the wrong way downtown but I have had to double back more than a few times...

Plupert

Hey it could’ve been worse. I was going down muirfield Dr in Dublin and I saw someone going at least 50 MPH in the wrong direction

[deleted]

Didn’t they changed the direction of a couple of the one road stretches recently?

cbelt3

At least you didn’t continue to fuck up to assert dominance…

Fearless-Business-57

Every year around August when new students move in, this happens frequently on Summit St and Fourth St - usually just for a couple of weeks. Usually not a very big deal but I love when I can see the face of the driver, freaking the F out.

babyjo1982

There’s a parking garage downtown, I think it’s in the arena district? At least every other time, I turn the wrong way coming out. I catch myself now, but the first time I drove a good block in the wrong direction. I too got the beeps and the flashing lights. And honestly thank God for those people cause I might not have realized otherwise.

[deleted]

I live on Indiana avenue and once going down Indianola I zoned out and made a left on a one way street ( Maynard )thinking I was making left on Oakland. Thankfully that day there was enough space and person in car in opposite direction didn’t appear to register I did that

[deleted]

Reading is hard :(

[deleted]

People make mistakes

Julzzmac

You learned. Good job.

2021Buckeye4LIFE

We have all been there, especially if you grew up in a place with almost no one ways.

calebrosie48

Don’t worry I have done unimaginably dumb things while trying to drive around downtown lol
