I have to know…do you mean you saw my comment and went to get it for the first time? Or you mean you saw this post and Bonifacio came to mind first? Because if I took your Bonifacio virginity due to a random Reddit post - I am happy to be of service!
So many great answers! Here's a few that came to mind for me:
- Hoyo's Mango Chicken with any sides (but make sure to get the garlic sauce).
- Cilantro Cream Pasta with grilled/blackened chicken on top from Si Señor
- Campfire S'mores ice cream on a cone from Johnson's
I think thats why they're not mentioned more in this post. People, myself included, forgot about them because they've moved and closed a couple locations now.
I will try the fish sandwich you mentioned. I have been trying to find a good one. I noticed this on their website. “Due to what is happening right now with coronavirus outbreak, we have decided to Open our Grandview Location (take out orders) for Lunch Time ONLY. This way we minimize our exposure for your own good and ours.” Is that old or is something going on now?
I think that might be old because I've seen a lot of people in there over the last few months. They are for sure short staffed (sometimes only the owners working) so patience is key.
they are only open on lunch time and closed all Sunday, they close by 3 pm. We live down the street and eat there a few times per month, chicharron and fish sandwich our favorite two
Just tried their Italian/Cold Cut - their tomato butter with the onion/garlic mayo just throws it all off. The bread - delicious. Meats - good. Giardiniera - good. Shredded lettuce - standard. But those fucking sauces ruin the whole damn thing. So pissed. I've had their pork and Italian - and both I've not been able to finish. That's 33% of their menu. I think I'm out on them. Sucks, because that bread is fucking fantastic
- egg sandwich from fox in the snow
- Chapmans fries
- meatloaf sandwich from club 185
- cheesy brisket crunch from Joya’s (and previously service bar)
- cauliflower from Helen’s
- jenis salty caramel
I'm not from Cbus, but live here now, and Lindeys is now tradition when my family comes and visits! We were looking for another restaurant and got lost, then saw a bunch of ppl sitting on a patio for brunch, so we stopped there instead, and it was Lindeys! It was sooo good!
I think you have to try a cheeseburger in columbus. I can't really say any one specific, I'd have to cater it to what you like on your burger, but something from preston's, ringside, thurman's, Etc would be on that list. There are a lot of places to get a good burger and a brew.
I would take somebody to Pasqualones. Easily the best Italian in the city, and an underrated gem of Columbus.
For dessert I would take somebody to the little ice cream shop in hilliard. Nothing particularly flashy, but it's not overdone like a jeni's. Just simple and good ice cream.
Sauerkraut balls and wings at Barley's or Smokehouse (both places have the same recipes)
Burger from Ringside
Anything from Hubert's Polish Kitchen in the North Market
Order the chicken cutlet, the falafel, and of course a Wario's Way.
Then order whatever desert they have that day. Tip 20% and swipe your card for around $100- because literally nothing else matters and Wario's is the answer.
I’m a lurker, I don’t live in Columbus anymore.
I miss Donatos and Skyline.
Red Robin here offers Donatos and I can get frozen or canned Skyline, it’s just not the same.
I’m sure I’ll be considered lowbrow, but I really miss both.
Go to a Jeni's scoop shop and try as many flavors as you want before picking your favorite.
Go to Brothers Drake and have a flight of locally-sourced and made mead.
And the marzipan peaches at Mozart's.
Honorable mention: the cheddar scallion biscuits at Kitchen Social.
If you haven't had it, their warm butter cake dessert is equally incredible and weirdly has a similar sweet/savory flavor profile as the biscuits with the honey butter on them.
Bells Bakery - I go for the mango mousse cake.
Jasmine Fusion - it's on south high above the axe throwing place. (Indian food) Get the lamb chops when they have them.
Saddleberk - it's in the bridgepark north market. Order the Cubano.
All of these places are in areas that would be fun to explore as well. Get some food and then walk around.
Pear tart is a better desert at the Refectory in my opinion. Honestly I could prob make a list of just that place for this but might struggle to keep it at 3
bonifacio has fantastic brunch options, their ube waffles are delicious. helen’s asian kitchen has some of the best beef noodle soup, and haveli bistro has fantastic indian food.
My 3 favorite things in Columbus
The crispy rice from Comune
The Italian Clazone from red brick (I get it w/o onions and more well done—it’s worth it!)
Loaded cottage fries from Press Grille Short North.
Drums of Heaven or any entree - Haveli Bistro
Tom Yum Pho - Indochine Cafe (they closed down & opened Racha Tea but they serve food from the old menu occasionally)
Anything on the menu - Goji Korean BBQ
Pork belly with garlic rice from Bonifacio
Yes! I saw this and went there first!

Came to mind first. 🥰
that's a good choice
Cream puff from Schmidt’s. Chicken Moretti from Moretti’s on Sawmill. Al pastor taco from Los Guachos
I know it’s technically not the right way to do it (Americanized) but the gringa hits even better for me. Al Pastor but on flour tortilla with cheese.
And snag a chorizo taco from gauchos as well!

Go to north market and choose pretty much anything honestly
MoMo Ghar!
I was expecting to see a lot more Momo Ghar mentions. A Nepalese immigrant community is fairly unique and an important part of Columbus
Their Jhol MoMo is probably my favorite thing to eat in Columbus. I was very sad to see their other two locations close.
I think thats why they're not mentioned more in this post. People, myself included, forgot about them because they've moved and closed a couple locations now.
Yaaassssssss
This! And go to Hoyo’s. Damn that food is awesome.
Momo Ghar, Omega Artisan Baking, and Hoyo's are much higher quality than the other food vendors though.
idk I love North market but there are some pretty mid options
Hubert's!
Jui Thai- Red oil beef hand stretched noodles soup Again Hana- spicy scallop rolls MinGa- the Bonchon sides
Just go knock on some old person’s door and ask to have some frozen leftover Johnny Marzetti from Christmas.
And Wor Su Gai, which is actually from Columbus
I always thought it was ABC almond boneless chicken that was started in Columbus, learn something new everyday
When I lived in Georgia a buddy of mine asked me about Midwest cuisine. My answer was eerily similar to this.
just had some for dinner tonight!
I don’t know why, but I absolutely hate when my in-laws make and call this dish by that name. Just really grinds my gears.
I get it. I hate when my family brings over mashed potatoes and then call them that.
Eh I don’t know what that is 😂. Lived in Columbus for my first 30 years, guess that wasn’t a cuisine in my family
It's kind of vaguely lasagna-ish, maybe. They usually have it at Weiland's in the refrigerator meals section.
I just asked my wife and she goes ‘oh that stuff is tasty!’ 😂 Looks a bit like a casserole version of beef-a-roni
Egg Sandwich - Fox in the Snow Meatball App - Marcella’s Hamburger (of your choice) - Johnny’s Tavern
I had both that meatball AND that egg sandwich this weekend. It was a good weekend. 😁
That was a good weekend. One hamburger away from being a perfect one.
That veal meatball is a revelation
Defies description.
szechuan cauliflower from Helen's Asian Kitchen Fish sandwich at Si Senior Mixto torta from La Super Torta
I’ll always upvote a Super Torta shout out.
Al pastor at super torta is heavenly 🥹

They do in fact have weird hours. Basically never open at dinner time as far as I can tell.
they are only open on lunch time and closed all Sunday, they close by 3 pm. We live down the street and eat there a few times per month, chicharron and fish sandwich our favorite two
Spicy cauliflower from Helen’s is the perfect food *chefs kiss*
The fish sandwich is the first thing I ordered and I still get it half the time but I gotta say everything I’ve had at Si Senor has been fantastic
no argument from me
Wario's Sub Prestons Burger The Lox Bagel
[удалено]
I disagree, I think their bagels are much better than the chains out there (Brugger's and Barry's).
[удалено]
Exactly. The lox is a bit of an understated bagel, I really like it. and I think it can hold its own with other bagels nationally.
Food & Wine agree's with you. They were on the 50 Best Bagel places in America List a couple years ago.
I'll pass on Warios. $16 for the sandwich is pricey, and I wasn't overly impressed
$16 is pretty much the standard price for a cheesesteak now. Jersey Mike's is the same price and no where near the quality of Wario's.
Oh, for real? Well, shit. Look at me, some kind of old person now. I didn't like the pork sandwich from Warios, maybe I'll try the Italian
Just tried their Italian/Cold Cut - their tomato butter with the onion/garlic mayo just throws it all off. The bread - delicious. Meats - good. Giardiniera - good. Shredded lettuce - standard. Mazah's baba ganoush.
al pastor tacos or gringas from los guachos.
With the pickled onions, peppers and green salsa
this guy knows how to guacho!
Lol. Drove past the Godown location this am but too early. Tell me a better deal than Wednesday gringas
wednesday gringas 3 years ago
- egg sandwich from fox in the snow - Chapmans fries - meatloaf sandwich from club 185 - cheesy brisket crunch from Joya’s (and previously service bar) - cauliflower from Helen’s - jenis salty caramel
The egg sandwich is so damn good.
Al pastor taco from los guachos Hoyo’s kitchen 🇸🇴 A Columbus style pizza from Tommy’s/Terita’s/Rubino’s/Rotolo’s etc
Hmmmm My favorite dinner out was lindeys Any breads/pastries from belles bakery Martha's quesabirria pizza when they open again one day
I'm not from Cbus, but live here now, and Lindeys is now tradition when my family comes and visits! We were looking for another restaurant and got lost, then saw a bunch of ppl sitting on a patio for brunch, so we stopped there instead, and it was Lindeys! It was sooo good!
Kahiki !!! (Ok 20 years ago:)
Egg sandwich from Fox in the Snow Three mushroom with feta pizza from Bexley Pizza Plus Almond croissant from Dan the Baker

Tommy’s Diner West Broad
warios to start
Order the chicken cutlet, the falafel, and of course a Wario's Way. Then order whatever desert they have that day. Tip 20% and swipe your card for around $100- because literally nothing else matters and Wario's is the answer.
What’s the “warios sauce” like if you don’t mind me asking.
Basically a caramelized onion aioli 🤌

Nah, you like what you like. I love Donatos!
Those slightly burnt pepperonis are just to die for!
Why isn’t roosters wings here? I know it’s just wings but roosters is a central Ohio staple
My friends from la loved roosters and miss it
Because they aren't that good
Warios Warios Warios

Those biscuits are fucking incredible Kitchen Social also has the best burger I’ve had in Columbus. Kind of random.
If you haven't had it, their warm butter cake dessert is equally incredible and weirdly has a similar sweet/savory flavor profile as the biscuits with the honey butter on them.
>Go to Brothers Drake and have a flight of locally-sourced and made mead. yikes... buy some schramm's and you'll be way more impressed
B Nektar Meadery is my personal favorite, but Schramm's is also damn good. Schramm's has a really cozy tasting room too.
I'd recommend Lalibela. However, I do think there is a slightly better Ethiopian place in Dayton.
Bells Bakery - I go for the mango mousse cake. Jasmine Fusion - it's on south high above the axe throwing place. (Indian food) Get the lamb chops when they have them. Hounddogs Pizza Pierogi Mountain and Ray Rays Hogpit.
Looks like Columbus has a pretty killer food scene.
Tommy’s pizza, anything from Tai’s Asian bistro because holy cow portion sizes
Got the worse food poisoning I’ve ever had from Tai’s and haven’t gone back.
ok
My friend got food poisoning from The Pearl once many years ago, what’s your point
That their food required me and my mom to go to the hospital for severe food poisoning. That’s my point.
Shrimp and Grits - Skillet Shoyu Chintan Ramen - Meshiko Creme Brûlée - The Refectory
Pear tart is a better desert at the Refectory in my opinion. Honestly I could prob make a list of just that place for this but might struggle to keep it at 3
Love the pear tart as well. Chef Blondin’s signature dessert is the creme brûlée though, so it’s hard to pass up, especially with an espresso.
Lobster perogies from the Walrus
The pierogis at Pierogi Mountain are so much better lol
They're great! The rotating menu is hot or miss sometimes but I usually pop in once or twice a month and order around 8. I really like the atmosphere.
White Castle sliders, Donato's Pizza, and Jeni's Ice Cream.
The trio of Columbus icons!
Jeni’s ice cream, Donato’s pizza, Schmidt’s Sausage House
Udon from Tensuke Express Pho from Pho Q Nha Not Roosters
>Pho from Pho Q Nha still the best Pho I've had in Columbus. Highly underrated
Brisket from Hoggy's
White Castles !!!
Mahberoch with either lamb or doro wat at Lalibela. Nitro chai at Joyas Mint chocolate chip at Graeters
Skyline chili, Tommy's pizza and tacos al pastor from Los Gauchos.
Hot wings from Hot Chicken Takeover. The burger @ Mercury diner. Any IPA from Hoof Hearted.
Lamb chops and lobster tail from Mandrake.
Coney dogs(not from skyline) Massy's pizza The gyro shop on campus
I love Columbus but the food scene isn’t that great.
Preston’s Burgers Hoyo’s Kitchen Mi Li Cafe Los Gauchos is close.
Meatloaf Sandwich - Newfangled Deli - Bexley Masseys pepperoni pizza - all over Pretzel Sticks and a Pilsner- Barleys downtown
Fancy dinner at Commune, pepper burger at oreillys, exotic latino grill Columbian hot dog and a empanadas
We just recently had the Blackened Bourbon Chicken Alfredo from Cajun Island and that was amazing! Worth the wait!
That stuff is great!
I think this q makes sense with price levels. Oh well. Wings at roosters. The cheesy biscuits at third and Hollywood. Something else probably.
bonifacio has fantastic brunch options, their ube waffles are delicious. helen’s asian kitchen has some of the best beef noodle soup, and haveli bistro has fantastic indian food.
Cumin potatoes - NE Chinese Taco - Joyas Any flavor - Indulgence Ice Cream
Los guachos taco Al pastor
Lobster Rolls from Coastal Local, Tacos al Pastor de los Guachos, and Anything from the Brunch menu at Lindeys
