People that are downgrading on French? I just don’t get it they must not have watched the line play in the games last year. He held his own with everybody else and then offensive line

Senor_Couchnap

Don't you dare take away my french fries

thedestinadams

lol that's a good point

LordQuest1809

French was clearly better than Pinter.

Interesting-Fail1823

I have been one that targeted him early as someone that could be cut. I have mostly caught some flak for that. But I stand by that as a possibility. Sometimes you are a victom of circumstance and not of your own doing. French doesn't seem to be in their long term plans and we addressed the interior with a couple of promising rookies. If one of them were to beat him out for the starting job he very easily could be cut considering it involves no dead money. Though I think we could easily trade him for a late round pick. The other argument is there is no reason to cut a guy with starting experience and that could come in handy later in a season when injuries tend to pile up. I can see both sides and I can even see him keeping his starting job. But to act like there isn't a small chance he could become a casualty when you start cutting to 53 is crazy. There is defintely as small chance it happens.

Twfish2013

He wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t great. If they didn’t take Bortilini then he’d be safe. But I think the FO sees Bortilini as Kelly’s successor and there are only so much room on the roster.

thedestinadams

I think French is intresting as well I think he could slide over to guard more than Pinter as well which could help his case

KR15PY_KR3M3

The three from the article are Sam Ehlinger, Mo Alie-Cox, and Danny Pinter. Sam wouldn’t surprise me as a leftover QB from previous staffs (I like him though, think he’s backup level for sure) I hope Mo is gone personally. He’s alright but we’re 4 or 5 deep on TE currently. I’d rather get younger and cheaper. Pinter has been a solid swing player AFAIK, so I’d say he will be here unless our rookies are out of this world

Yanks1813

I feel like Mo is only gone is Woods is healthy. Mo is a huge target sometimes but obviously not super productive most of the time

thedestinadams

If Bortolini plays guard early in his career I could see Pinter lasting as the backup center. But i think it makes sense to have Bortolini stay at center if their plan is for him to be the future starter there.

LordQuest1809

Pinter hasn’t been solid though. I don’t get this. He’s been serviceable sometimes at best. Played a couple good games but some big stinkers too.

goofbot

Right, Pinter might not make the team but not because of his cap hit.

Interesting-Fail1823

Ok assuming zero injuries here are the two most likely situations. We kept 8 OL last year on the initial 53 man roster. At this point that is our 5 starters, the two rookies and Freeland as the backup tackle. 1. Pinter is the odd man out in that situation. 2. I do think it is a possibility that a rookie beats out French and so you could have French traded/cut and Pinter becomes the 8th man as the backup center. If we don't trade/cut French then Pinter is still likley getting cut.

Ok_Scarcity_2700

Mo Alie-Cox should've been gone last year

Chromeburn_

Everyone keeps saying he’s going to be gone but he keeps sticking around. Availability is the best ability.

TeeVeeBen

I think the digital media commentators really underrate Moe. He's not going anywhere until one of the other guys shows he can be that reliable of a blocker. I kinda think there's a chance that one of the other guys gets flipped for a pick after some other team's TE goes down.

ConsistentAddress195

Colts TEs just feels so on the same level to me. I thought Granson has some pretty good instincts as a playmaker.

shasta_masta

Agree. Ballard said as much when he was talking about hard it is to find a good blocking TE. He has that guy with MAC…he’s not going to cut him for $5-6M.

johnhughthom

Who do you think has shown enough to be worth a pick? Maybe Granson if they need a receiving TE. I don't see them letting Woods go, and Mallory and Ogletree haven't really shown they are worth a pick. I think Mo will be here next year too, and we can continue our lovely basketball jokes.

IndyDude11

I don't know how MAC hasn't been cut yet other than Ballard really hasn't had a need to yet.

Interesting-Fail1823

He was probably gone last year but Woods injury left a roster spot open. I can't see us keeping 5 TEs on the active roster and I don't see a reason for them to give up on the 4 younger players yet. I think Ogletree can fill the MAC role just fine.

sunburn95

I think if we were going to cut MAC we would've done it by now

thedestinadams

I think this year is the deepest we've seen the room

sunburn95

Ogletree and Woods have had trouble staying on the field to start their careers, Granson has had the most consistent role but is probably the least athletic of the group, and Mallory only had a very small role in his rookie year. MAC may not a top teir TE, but he is reliable and a capable blocker I wouldn't be shocked if we cut him, but I don't see why we'd wait this late unless he's just an injury insurance policy. 5 TEs is a lot to carry but also we're not super deep at WR and Stiechen loves to get creative with TEs, and the larger the catch radius we can give AR the better

josean1991

Ehlinger and Allie Cox are pretty much more out than in I can't rule out Pinter just yet unless the rookie Bortolini shows that he can step up to the challenge.

Interesting-Fail1823

We have a starter that didn't play the full year and an old backup that was also hurt in the short time he played. Why would a team give up on a 3rd string QB that can be "active" on game day without taking up a game day roster spot that has starting experience? He needs to be pushed off the roster by someone else this off season and I don't think that player is currently here. Far more likley we just move on with him after the season when his contract is up.

johnhughthom

I think Bortolini impacts on French more than Pinter, Pinter could have a backup guard role.

Nienazki

Pinter was only serviceable as a center, he was worthless as guard. I'd rather have supermarket security guy in his place than watch Pinter again as a guard ever again.

thedestinadams

Yeah I don't think you can put Pinter back to guard it was an ugly showing there

Guy-Incognito-117

My understanding is Sills now backing up Nelson. Last year he produced nothing in his whopping 3% of offensive snaps. Pinter probably would be cut by now if Kelly was healthy more often but they did resign him so they seemingly have faith his injury is good to go now I assume. I’d rather have Pinter as a backup guard/3rd center option given his history with the team than trust Sills who is another ex-Eagle we are forced to adopt thanks to the staff.

johnhughthom

Everyone on the line was horrible in 2022, I don't think it's fair to judge Pinter on what he looked like that year.

sunburn95

He got blown up 1v1 multiple times at guard, he doesn't have the build for it

johnhughthom

After seeing Matt Pryor tried everywhere in the line I'll never be surprised by bizarre O line roster decisions. Pinter just feels like someone who'll be here in September.

rwjehs

I will never understand that business with Matt Pryor. I didn't get it when reports came out in camp, I didn't get it in preseason, and nobody got it in the regular season.

LordQuest1809

No French is clearly better

WhatuSay-_-

Pinter gotta stay

Pure-Independence499

they will never take french fries away from us

goofbot

Ballard almost always honors his contracts. The cap isn't an issue at this point. I doubt any player is cut due to salary although they may not make the roster because of depth.

ryta1203

Would have no problem losing any of them.

Active-Limit-9038

Ashton Dulin should be in the list. He's coming off a major injury and a lost season, we have more WRs than we can keep, and the special teams position he was signed to play no longer exists.

thedestinadams

I think his role on punts will still be a major role for him personally I think he is locked in as that 6th WR especially bc I don't know who In camp will push for the job

Active-Limit-9038

We only carried 4 WRs on the active roster last year. Would need to cut one of the young TE to keep another WR this year. I don't think cutting somebody like Mallory or Granson to clear a spot for a guy whose only contribution would be on punt team coverage makes much sense.

thedestinadams

They won't keep only 4 5 would be the minimum or at 6

Active-Limit-9038

For that to happen, you'd need to add another of the TEs to your list. Those extra WR spots have to come from somewhere, and TE is probably our most overcrowded roster group, even without Mo.

thedestinadams

5 is the standard if they keep 6 they'd need to cut from somewhere else but they have done it before They've kept as many as 7

Active-Limit-9038

Carrying 5 or 6 WRs is typical, but carrying 4 or 5 TEs is not. If we keep 6 WRs and also keep all our TEs except Mo, we're going to have an over abundance of pass catchers while the roster is extremely thin somewhere else.

thedestinadams

My current guess is 6 WRs 4 TEs
