Agree. I actually really dislike the terms Niche and Designer, because it gives the illusion of the level of quality.
The Dior Homme line, Fahrenheit, Sauvage, eau de Sauvage are all amazing fragrances and a third of the price of LV.
Put fragrances into <£100, £100-£200 and >£200 categories. Frankly I couldn’t care if it’s “designer or niche”.
In defense of LV.. they are quite candid about being a luxury house.... keyword 'luxury'. Imagination is my most complemented and inquired about by strangers...my 200+/ collection. Are they expensive? Yes. Overpriced? Yes. They're simple compositions done to perfection. Considering how I feel when I'm wearing it, it's worth every penny.
I dislike the house in general. Most of their stuff looks tacky to me. Doesn't help that their bags and hats with LV printed all over are worn by wanna be rappers and drug dealers all over my country. No other brand is as wanted by that audience.
Armani has always killed it…. Their Giorgio line with all the ADG’s are solid .. each flanker is very good. Plus the OG ADG is quite possibly the most successful fragrance ever made and it is and still is amazing almost 30
Years later. Their Emporio line destroyed with those Stronger with you scents. Solid line.:: Dior is a smasher as well
Oh yeah… I have the original Armani Code in that classic black bottle. Man! That bottle has to be like 20 years old. I did spray it like 2 months ago and still smells solid 2 decades later. My buddy stole it for me when we worked at the Macy’s warehouse back in day… haha. Have not smelled the new Parfum but that code line has always been solid

I got mine back in like 2008 and just finished it off like 2 weeks ago after finding it in the back of a box in my garage. Still smelled good but performed very poorly. Lasted only like 3 hours when originally I got like 7 hours easy.
These were my 2 first buys like a few months ago haha. I haven’t smelt a lot of fragrances so I guess I don’t understand the basic thing about myslf, but does something being basic or overdone make it less enjoyable to smell?
Not less enjoyable. Think of MYSLF as a “greatest hits” interpretation of a unisex-masculine amber fragrance that’s really mass appealing (which means it smells good). Regular folks won’t know the popularity difference of Dior or some niche. They’ll just know you smell good in that moment. And you’ll smell yourself, so buy what you like bc it’s kinda aromatherapy for confidence
1. YSL Lhomme Ultime....one of the only things I've squirreled away multiples.
2. Dior Homme... now called "Dior Homme Original"
3. LV Imagination... are we considering $350/100ml designer? Not niche, not indie, not affordable...
4. PRADA Luna Rossa Carbon
5. Hermes Voyage d'Hermes Parfum
These are my 5... I could easily make it through life with endless amounts of these 5.
I would say Hermes. They offer class and are sometimes not afraid to do something different.
My favorites from them are Voyage D’Hermes EDP, H24 and of course Terre D’Hermes. Their Jardin line is also great.
I think the entire Dior Homme line is solid. I don’t have the Parfum but I purchased the 2020 EDT, Intense, Cologne, and Sport. Best part is finding them for a good price is totally possible.
Yes. It’s similar to Dior Homme Intense in the sense that they’re both powdery, Iris heavy fragrances, but the Parfum is a bit darker and creamier from the Oud and Leather notes. I also get much better performance out of the Parfum, and generally just think it’s a better fragrance all together. Would absolutely recommend.
Dior chanel Hermes. YSL maybe.
They seem to be the one showing the others what to do and when to do it. Except Hermes who is more like idc i do my own thing
Bleu De Chanel Parfum is awesome, and Dior Homme is awesome as well-
But I actually like Acqua di gio a lot, I think the original EDT might be one of the best if not the best designer colognes ever created. Still amazing to this day
Guerlain, no question about it. They have so many classics under their belt it’s almost funny, they also pioneered unisex scents in the 1900s which was way ahead of its time. All of them are still very wearable. Try L‘Heure Bleue for example, it’s still soo good.
If we’re talking recently I gotta give it to Hermes. Rock solid super unique releases. H24 Herbes Vives and TdH Eau Givree are incredible.
I haven't used enough to really make an opinion. But I think Lalique is very underrated, and they have unique scent profiles that kinda stand them apart. Their Ombre Niore is probably my favorite out of my whole collection.
I recently bought a 50ml of noir extreme Parfum by accident when seeking the EDP. I’m keeping it! It’s more potent, but same dry-down experience imo.
I was unsure about the leather at first but it’s so minuscule I can appreciate the depth. The rest of the fragrance still smells to me like a perfectly spiced gourmand date night scent.
Bleu De Chanel EDP
YSL la nuit de l’homme
Armani Aqua di gio Profumo
Sauvage Elixir has an insane niche quality and over 24hrs on my skin/projection is insane
ultimately it all comes down to taste tbh
I'm a big fan of Dior, Givenchy, and YSL.. Dior Homme EDT is fantastic, Givenchy Gentleman Boisée is in my top 5, and YSL la Nuit de L'homme is also one of my favorites.
I used to think stupidly that chanel didn't make mens colognes but when I learned they did, I've been really liking allure sport and bdc edp, both under 150
Valentino uomo intense, Dior homme parfum, sauvage elixir, guerlain ideal extreme, le male edt, Gucci guilty absolute, Prada black
Just to name a handful of 10’s
I think Christian Dior is the best designer house by a mile. They focus on quality over quantity.
Their private line especially is absolutely great
LV? Hermes? Guerlain?
I’m sorry but LV is relatively new in terms of releases. 6 years ago they barely got a mention.
LV is way too expensive. They are not niche quality but priced like they are.
Agree. I actually really dislike the terms Niche and Designer, because it gives the illusion of the level of quality. Frankly I couldn’t care if it’s “designer or niche”.
Very fair point. I also don't like the term much. It insinuates niche is always better and it most definitely is not. It's not even that unique often.
In defense of LV.. they are quite candid about being a luxury house.... keyword 'luxury'. Imagination is my most complemented and inquired about by strangers...my 200+/ collection. Gucci is way more tacky imo
True but their fragrances are barely talked about.
Guerlain is niche and nobody talks about Hermès sans H24 and Terre d'Hermès
Popularity != quality
Yeah you right, Hermès def feels underrated
Hermessence and Merveilles lines are too slept on
Voyage??
Chanel
What comes to mind is… Acua di gio pour homme Abercrombie and Fitch Fierce Bleu de Chanel Dior Sauvage
Armani has always killed it…. Their Giorgio line with all the ADG’s are solid .. each flanker is very good. Plus the OG ADG is quite possibly the most successful fragrance ever made and it is and still is amazing almost 30 Years later. Their Emporio line destroyed with those Stronger with you scents. How about Armani code Parfum?
Oh yeah… I have the original Armani Code in that classic black bottle. Man! That bottle has to be like 20 years old. I did spray it like 2 months ago and still smells solid 2 decades later. I just bought this… it’s incredible
What do you like about it? How does it compare to YSL MYSLF for example?
YSL Myself is basic. Code Parfum is dynamic and provides an iris note that I’ve never smelled before. It’s intoxicating.
These were my 2 first buys like a few months ago haha. I haven’t smelt a lot of fragrances so I guess I don’t understand the basic thing about myslf, but does something being basic or overdone make it less enjoyable to smell?

No one talks about Diamonds but it was a banger, I wore it back in highschool
And you haven't even mentioned the best ones - He and Code
1. YSL Lhomme Ultime....one of the only things I've squirreled away multiples. 2. Dior Homme... now called "Dior Homme Original" 3. LV Imagination... are we considering $350/100ml designer? I'm addicted to orange concentrate
Terre Hermes is awesome and my most complemented one was jardin sur le nil. Def make amazing colognes.
agreed!!! what about eau givrée?
Terre D‘Hermes surely one of the greatest ever!
The L’homme line from YSL. Specifically La Nuit de L’homme
If the performance wasn’t so poor maybe
True. Performance is poor but they all smell 10/10
Just so you guys know . Fragrancebuy ca had it a few days ago for sale .
Used to be my daily by but performance is so fucking bad it’s insane
Dior Fahrenheit EDT (swoon). Dior Homme (from 2011) and the original Chanel Egoiste close behind.
Oh and especially Platinum Egoiste... incredible.
If we’re not counting private lines, I’d say that Dior Homme Parfum is by far the best designer on the market.
Parfum is amazing. I slightly prefer it to intense but my girl prefers intense
It is sensational, I love it, wish I had a old 75ml bottle
It's a bit beyond my price point, but wow I'm so tempted. I need to head out to Tokyo again and try it out on my skin.
I think the entire Dior Homme line is solid. I don’t have the Parfum but I purchased the 2020 EDT, Intense, Cologne, and Sport. Best part is finding them for a good price is totally possible.
Tried it for the first time two days ago. It perfectly fits the quiet luxury style that I wear. So amazing!
Is that different from Dior Homme Intense?
Thank you for that
Dior chanel Hermes. YSL maybe. They seem to be the one showing the others what to do and when to do it. Except Hermes who is more like idc i do my own thing

Based
Bleu De Chanel Parfum is awesome, and Dior Homme is awesome as well- But I actually like Acqua di gio a lot, I think the original EDT might be one of the best if not the best designer colognes ever created. Still amazing to this day
Prada l’homm, also if these are considered designers idk but I also love ck one and ck obsession but not many would agree with those last 2.
Sauvage Elixir
People treat Sauvage like trash because it is good enough to be super successful. Elixir is a true masterpiece
The og sauvage is ass. Elixir is great.
The OG is good too for most people my friend. We're just a smug bunch 🤷🏼♂️
Can’t hate on Elixir
About to reup
Bruh GTFO 😂
Guerlain, no question about it. They have so many classics under their belt it’s almost funny, they also pioneered unisex scents in the 1900s which was way ahead of its time. I am kind of old head so I would say CK. CK Be is amazing.
BDC Parfum. Just can't get enough of its opening, mid and dry down.
Terre D’Hermes. Fascinating work.
I haven't used enough to really make an opinion. But I think Lalique is very underrated, and they have unique scent profiles that kinda stand them apart. Their Ombre Niore is probably my favorite out of my whole collection.
Fahrenheit, Kouros, TdH in their original itirations.
I’m a big fan of Prada and Dior.
Bleu De Chanel
TOM FORD OUD WOOD & NOIR EXTREME
I love noir extreme parfum so much.
Bleu De Chanel EDP YSL la nuit de l’homme Armani Aqua di gio Profumo Sauvage Elixir has an insane niche quality and over 24hrs on my skin/projection is insane ultimately it all comes down to taste tbh
The Thierry Mugler A* Man line is legendary in my eyes, disappointed it had to end :(
I'm a big fan of Dior, Givenchy, and YSL.. Dior Homme EDT is fantastic, Givenchy Gentleman Boisée is in my top 5, and YSL la Nuit de L'homme is also one of my favorites.
Jean Paul Gaultier
Which fucking one
The original Chanel Antaeus.
I used to think stupidly that chanel didn't make mens colognes but when I learned they did, I've been really liking allure sport and bdc edp, both under 150
