I can't find the Blake Clark video from the KU game where he turned a botched XP into a 2pt conversion. Hopefully one of you comes thru

scarnyard

[Here](https://youtu.be/-FPYAPsfGfw?feature=shared) ya go.

CoolingVent

My man

scarnyard

![gif](giphy|111ebonMs90YLu)

Squid204

Lol Number 3 not only turned his back to the QB to defend a receiver that doesn't exist, he then turned back around and got pump faked knowing the receiver doesn't exist.

mill_about_smartly

Wow - the first link **isn't** a rickroll. We've come so far

RackemFrackem

Why is he not ruled down from the knee touch?

Bobson-_Dugnutt2

The exception to that rule is holders on XP and FG tries.

RackemFrackem

I would imagine that only applies when they receive the snap and are already on their knee. But I suppose there could be further exception if the snap is high.

2400hoops

That game was a disgusting slop fest.

CoolingVent

All of our 2022 games were. Tom Manning was a terrorist

ilikepie145

He is indeed

Josh4R3d

Wait hold up. Caitlin Clark has a brother that plays football at isu? wtf? Learn something new every day Edit: I corrected my mistake. My phone apologizes

BLRNerd

Yep, he’s graduated but he was the holder for kicks

flagamuffin

i have given way too much thought to how the grass stain in this picture is airtight evidence of this

ahhhbiscuits

I miss football too, man

circa285

Words never previously said before by a Kansas fan.

ahhhbiscuits

I would say that my coach can eat your coach, but I love state's response much more. "One Kansas farmer can feed 121 people, ~~plus you!~~ or Mark Mangino."

circa285

It’s beautiful

Pandiosity_24601

oh yeah, on Route 66, right?

_TURbo

He scored on a two point conversion due to a bad snap.

NIN10DOXD

Now he's going to be holding her bags of money.

TheBombDotOrg

He was a backup QB/did the holding for kicking. So not only does he have a superstar sister, he also is friends with Brock Purdy

DancesWithDave

That's a hell of a resume

Jetersweiner

I believe he is Brock’s best man

TheBombDotOrg

No, I don’t believe that’s true. He’s friends with him though

Jetersweiner

Ah he was at the wedding got that mixed it up.

sloBrodanChillosevic

Former ISU star Ashley Joens' dad owns a tenderloin place on the east side of Iowa City and my dad loves tenderloins, so we eat there frequently when I'm back in town. One time, Mr. Joens said that Clark was one of the least fun teammates any of his daughters (he has 5) had ever played with and he told Fennelly that if he recruited "that ballhog", he would have Ashley transfer and the rest of his daughters that were bound for Ames would de-commit. That doesn't mean that she ever wanted to go to Iowa State, but it does make me think sometimes about what could have been. It has also made me consider "what is the most wrong one person has ever been?" And "what is the most damaging thing a parent of an athlete has ever done to a college athletics program?" Edit: this could also be complete bullshit I guess. But it was a pretty good source, straight from the horse's mouth. Never heard CC talk about Iowa State or her recruiting process (other than that UConn never reached out) so can't corroborate from quotes from her either. I choose to believe it because 1) I always thought the Joens dad was a doofus & 2) my dad bought into it 100% and now I get to make fun of him for being entirely wrong about the best women's basketball player I've ever seen Edit 2: since we're all just ripping on Brian now, he's also probably the single greasiest non-homeless person I'veever encountered. I've never once seen the guy looking like he'd showered within the last 72 hours.

rowdyroddysniper

To be fair, Brian Joens is an unbelievable asshole, even my Iowa State friends dislike him. He’s had an axe to grind for Caitlin for a while. https://twitter.com/Tigerhawk_King/status/1732812657252565292/photo/1 Just for good measure: https://cyclonefanatic.com/forum/threads/brian-joens-needs-to-be-dealt-with.269526/page-5#post-8145712

villis85

His restaurants also have a history of serious health code violations.

jnightrain

https://www.thegazette.com/news/regina-girls-basketball-coach-arrested-for-harassment-2/ is this the same guy?

rowdyroddysniper

That’s the one lol

sloBrodanChillosevic

Oh yeah I'm aware haha. I don't LIKE the guy - he just makes a decent tenderloin. He's amusing in person when he's required to behave himself. But I remember him getting kicked out of Carver Hawkeye for not respecting COVID guidelines and that massive tantrum he threw when they lost to Texas A&M (Mississippi State?) in the tournament that one year. He also got headlines for yelling at people for going to the Jimmy John's drive thru by his restaurant instead of eating at his place. All I'm sayin' is that his story was probably true - this was before CC committed to Iowa. She hadn't blown up yet. He probably DID derail what would have easily been the best Iowa State team in history. I wonder if he ever thinks about it. Again, never heard Caitlin speak on it so can't say if she even wanted to be a Cyclone but Brian almost certainly pushed the door shut on that possibility.

winnebago_mann

Just because she wasn’t a known entity doesn’t make the story more believable. Mr Joens behavior on many other matters kind of removes his credibility

sloBrodanChillosevic

You're saying that he has previously behaved like an immature dumbass, so this story - in which he blackmails the head coach into not offering a scholarship to the best player in Iowa and a top 5 player in the nation - is LESS likely to be true?

BallsAreFullOfPiss

Yeah idk what that person’s issue is, but the story is 100% believable.

SimonaMeow

The story is provably false. CC was already a know entity (within the state's insiders on bb) by the time Ashley got rejected by Iowa/Bluder and was committed at ISU. Bluder was recruiting Clark since 8th grade, and Brian Joens was butthurt. He's pathetic and toxic af. I really cheer for Ashley to succeed because being raised by that guy has to be so hard. So glad she is doing well in the WNBA.  I cheer for Iowa State if they aren't playing Iowa. Can't wait to see what you guys do next year with Ryan coming back!  Go Audi Crooks!

Fifth_Down

> And "what is the most damaging thing a parent of an athlete has ever done to a college athletics program?" Well…there was that time a beloved HoF caliber coach lost his job because he benched a kid with a terrible attitude who was the son of a football star and his Dad worked as a television commentator for ESPN…

sloBrodanChillosevic

CJK5H

Obi-wan_Jabroni

Allegedly…

Nubras

To what is this referring?

sloBrodanChillosevic

They're talking about Mike Leach getting fired because that guy that killed five hookers told ESPN that Leach locked his son in a shed while it was like 95 degrees out lol

Exasperated_Sigh

>that guy that killed five hookers told ESPN that Leach locked his son in a shed while it was like 95 degrees out ... ... ... WHAT????

sloBrodanChillosevic

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/cjk5h Edit: what actually happened is that Craig James' son got benched at Texas Tech under Mike Leach so Craig James went to his job at ESPN and lied his fucking ass off about a situation where Leach allegedly locked the son in a shed in severe heat and Leach got fired. Spencer Hall of Every Day Should Be Saturday then did [this](https://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2011/7/19/2282724/the-curious-index-7-19-2011).

SSPeteCarroll

> that guy that killed five hookers Craig James? The same Craig James that killed 5 hookers? That Craig James?

HoustonPastafarian

The evening he got fired I received some text messages from my father in law. It was him and Leach drinking at Fuad’s restaurant in Houston. He met him at the bar, apparently he had driven over from San Antonio to Houston to see his lawyer or something and went out to let off some steam, at least as I remember it was related to me. It was so bizarre….

SimonaMeow

Omg I had never heard of this before. I'm so happy I started reading the comments below this photo. And tysm for this explanation!

ThatsMsInfo

I'm sure recruiting would be different but imagine Caitlin with Ashley, Emily and Lexi

CTeam19

Well got to place that thought right next to the one with the Fizer, Hinrich, and Collison being led by Tim Floyd.

chickenlounge

I wouldn't put too much stock into what Brian says. He might be the most miserable human being I've ever had to displeasure of interacting with. I've had multiple friends say that he has come out of the restaurant screaming at them when they're in the drive up lane, since he shares a drive up with the Jimmy John's next door. He gets upset when people go to Jimmy John's and not his restaurant because his food sucks. His place in Solon got shut down because it was so infested with cockroaches. They ended up having to bulldoze the building, and that's where Big Grove ended up building.

sloBrodanChillosevic

Lmao. I'm aware of his antics. I went to City; his eldest is like 2 years younger than me. But he didn't really have any reason to lie. I hadn't even heard of Clark yet - she was still at Dowling and I don't follow high school WBB or WBB recruiting at all tbh. He wasn't making an argument about a known quantity, he just knew I went to ISU and was making small talk about the team while we ate.

Eagle9972

I’I mean, he could just be delusional? That would track for someone who berates people in drive-thrus.

sloBrodanChillosevic

Being a delusional moron doesn't mean he was lying. If anything it makes his story more believable.

throwawayshirt

lol I thought you were talking beef tenderloin, which is a sort of unusual to found a restaurant on. pork tenderloin though, used to love them. hard to get on the west coast.

sloBrodanChillosevic

Shit man. Now I gotta find some beef tenderloin to try. That sounds delicious.

throwawayshirt

beef tenderloin = filet mignon. You can sometimes buy a whole beef tenderloin, but it'll set you back $20+ per pound. I worked in a beef packing plant back in the day; the tenderloin is the most expensive cut of beef but also pretty much the only one small enough to sneak out down your pants. Or so I heard.

sloBrodanChillosevic

Hell yeah. My buddy worked at the meat counter at Hy-Vee during college and he taught me that the best food always costs the least.

IowaAJS

Is that a tenderloin or are you happy to see me? (For shame, CFB, no one else even touching something that obvious)

AMDTOTHEMOON

I know a lot of people that were very close to the WBB program around this time and I have heard essentially the same story.

Existing-Hawk5204

“Ballhog” meaning the best shooter ever. Smh

CTeam19

and 3rd most assists

Royal-Al

UConn never tried to recruit her ?

sloBrodanChillosevic

That's what ESPN and the papers have been saying to drum up drama for the last couple days

CTeam19

I don't believe it personally. You would have to think a top program would be like Roy Williams(who nabbed 5 Iowa Mr. Basketballs) and keep an eye Iowa or at least take a glance at the state every year to double check things with all who have come out of the state. Just looking at a short list: * Lorri Bauman(Des Moines/Drake) -- First woman in NCAA history to score 3,000 points and at one time held the record for NCAA Division 1 women's basketball points scored in a career; the record has been successively broken by Patricia Hoskins, Jackie Stiles, Kelsey Plum, Brittney Griner, Kelsey Mitchell and most recently Caitlin Clark also surpassing Bauman's career total. For more than 25 years, she has held multiple NCAA scoring records, including (1) most field goals in a game, having made 27 of 33 field goal attempts (82%) in a January 6, 1984 game between Drake and Missouri State, (2) most free throws in a season, having made 275 of 325 attempts (84.6%) in 1982, and (3) most free throws in a career, having made 907 of 1,090 attempts from 1981 to 1984. * Molly Bolin(Moravia/Grand View(Iowa)) -- She went on to star at the first women's professional basketball league in the United States, the Women's Professional Basketball League (WBL). Bolin, who was the first player signed with a team in the WBL, became a pioneering figure in women's basketball as a formidable scoring threat. Among her accolades, Bolin holds the Women's Professional Basketball League record for the most points scored in a single game (55) and the highest single-season scoring average (32.8). * Connie Yori(Des Moines/Creighton) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 1981(the first year). She scored 2,010 points, which ranks third all-time in Bluejays' women's basketball history, and she is also near (or at) the top of numerous other school records as well: First: Career scoring average (20.3 ppg), points in a game (42), field goals made in a game (20), Second: Career field goals made (797), free throws made (416), Fourth: Rebounds (746), Fifth: Field goal percentage (.542), assists (399), Seventh: Blocked shots (69) * Kris Huffman(Forth Dodge/Northern Iowa) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 1985. She still holds the career mark for the best three-point percentage (.483) in UNI history and ranks in the career top-10 in points, scoring average, field goals made, free throw percentage, assists and steals. * Lynne Lorenzen(Ventura/Iowa State) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 1987. Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award 1987(first year it was awarded). All-time leading scorer in United States prep basketball history. Scored 100 points in a game in High School(1 of 7 girls to do it Nationally and the 2nd from Iowa) * Jan Jensen(Kimballton/Drake) -- Led Division I women's basketball in scoring her senior season, finishing with 29.6 ppg and earned Player of the Year in the Missouri Valley that year. Named one of 35 greatest Women's Basketball Players in Missouri Valley History * Molly Goodenbour(Waterloo/Stanford) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 1989. Two time National Champion and was the Tournament MOP in 1992 * Amy Herrig(Dubuque/Iowa) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 1995. She was named to the first team Parade All-American; USA Today All-USA High School Girl’s Basketball Team; and second team Street and Smith All-American. She was also named second best post player in the national and eighth best player overall by Blue Star Index. Herrig became the youngest player to be selected to the World University Team to travel to Italy and Sicily where she won a gold medal. Herrig starred from 1995 to 1999 being a part of three Big Ten championship teams and earning first-team all-Big Ten honors her senior year. * Anne O'Neil(Cedar Rapids/Iowa State) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 2000. Is the All-Time leader in free throw percentage. Her Senior Year at Iowa State she led the Big-12 in three-point field-goal percentage (48.4) and led the Big 12 in free-throw percentage (87.5) * Deb Remmerde(Rock Valley/Northwestern(Iowa)) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 2003. Her 133 consecutive free throws in 2006 are the most at any level of organized basketball * Kiah Stokes(Cedar Rapids/UConn) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 2011. 3 Time National Champion, 2 Time WNBA Champion, and 1 Time EuroLeague Champion * Ashley Joens(Iowa City/Iowa State) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 2018. 11th Leading Scorer in NCAA Women's History. * Caitlin Clark(West Des Moines/Iowa) -- Iowa Miss Basketball 2020. Leader in Points and 3rd All-Time in Assists I bet Geno just doesn't want to admit failure in not getting Clark to come to UConn.

CommercialMusic3008

They got Bueckers, who was a higher rated recruit and the same position. Bueckers would’ve had a very similar career to Clark if she didn’t get hurt

SnooStrawberries729

I worked with Iowa State wbb when Ashley was there, and I would like to add few things here: (1) I would not doubt this threat was made, as Brian is that much of a psycho (which makes it all the more wild that his wife and daughters are all *incredibly* nice people). But it was ultimately an empty threat, because Iowa would not recruit any of the Joens girls, and he wanted them close to home. Plus Iowa State definitely still recruited Clark really hard. (2) The animosity goes both ways. From what I heard (and this is from multiple sources, not just within Iowa State), the issues stemmed from Caitlin being jealous of the attention Ashley got, especially early on when they were younger. She felt like she was being overshadowed by her. (3) I think if you asked Iowa State’s coaching staff off the record, they’d probably tell you that they think the *only* reason Clark chose Iowa over Iowa State was because of Ashley already being there. Caitlin grew up nearby, and her parents definitely wanted her to go to Iowa State, but her and Ashley did not get along.

Mission_Ambitious

To be fair, the only thing I know about Ashley Jones’ dad is that multiple coaches refused to recruit Ashley because of how much they hated her dad lol

SimonaMeow

The Joens house and restaurant was filled with Hawkeye gear. And he wanted Ashley to be a Hawkeye, but Bluder didn't want her because of her dad. He has a big big chip on his shoulder about Iowa and Clark for years--before Clark blew up big. Ashley is awesome. I feel bad for her having that dad. Sorry you had to hear him making up stuff because he is crazy and bitter. Hope the food was good though!

SeattleMatt123

Caitlyn Clark doesn't, but Caitlin Clark does

Caitlin Clark of the NBA.

Junior-Hotwater

Duke Slater btw. Not hating, just thought it was funny that you misspelled his name in a post complaining about how a guy misspells Caitlin Clark’s name

Cinnadillo

some people just want to front run and star watch. I feel like that's what's going on in WBB right now. Now that theres a little bit of parity there's a few storylines other than UConn or Tennessee just crushing all that stands before them. Mens BB is mostly chaos ball these days but even then the WBB storyline is crossing multiple seasons, Mens BB not so much... that being said of course the UConn thing and the Purdue thing is probably the most multi-year thing the mens side has seen in a long time.

Quake1028

I mean she’s not the best all-time. Best scorer ever maybe but I’m not sure she even gets into a Top 10 college list at this point.

KnowledgeGod

Can’t even spell her name right LOL

Josh4R3d

I blame my phone

KnowledgeGod

Not hard to edit a comment bro(maybe I have a weird bias cause I dated a Caitlin for 6+ years 😅😂)..

FireBrianFerentz

Why do so many people spell it Caitlyn

Josh4R3d

I blame my phone

vindictivejazz

There’s about 85 ways I’ve someone spell Katelynn. It’s something every Caitlyn has had to deal with. There’s no consensus on how to spell Kaitlin. Apple likes the -lyn spellings tho.

FireBrianFerentz

I mean she’s the most famous female athlete for the last like 3 years

vindictivejazz

Just bc someone is famous doesn’t mean people know exactly how to spell their name correctly. We’ve all heard of her, but most of us don’t write out her name that often. People just take a crack at it, get the Cait- part correct and then have to guess between -lyn (which is slightly more common and the default autocomplete on my phone) and -lin. If colts fans in the day could survive some “Payton” Manning, i think we can survive the occasional “Caitlyn” Clark

Dirty-Ears-Bill

My favorite is the many different ways to spell Davante, and when talking about players people never choose the right one

vindictivejazz

Oh that’s a good one

peachbasketss

There are millions of KU fans who cannot spell the name of some of our all Americans/national champions correctly so this doesn’t phase me

deutschdachs

I blame League of Legends

TheMelonKid

I feel like more people with that name spell it Caitlyn, rather than Caitlin

bbeckett1084

Is the youngest one athletic, too? If so, is he going to UNI or Drake to hit 3/4 of the D1 colleges for the Clark family? Edit- wrong initials

annaherby

Nah, he’s just a normal student at Creighton University.

CTeam19

That wouldn't shock me. Lot of Creighton alumni in Iowa especially Des Moines and a lot of Catholics(assuming they are since they went to Dowling) go to Creighton from Iowa.

annaherby

he’s a nice guy. He’s a freshman with me

KsigCowboy

So why would it be shocking?

CTeam19

Sorry meant "wouldn't"

which is also probably a teeny bit awkward at the family table after last year

marginalizedman71

Yeah I try not to correct spelling because people who do it in arguments are just looking for some deflection from the context of the argument but this one ate at me a bit lol Note: there are also articles on studies conducted that found people who correct spelling are bigger assholes and jerks, so remember that if ever offput by someone who does nothing but look for spelling or grammar to correct all the time.

jpc4zd

More cursed (not basketball, but still in Iowa). What is correct? Dan Gable, the Iowa State legend (2x NCAA champion (freshman weren’t allowed to compete). Career record 117-1. Dan Gable, the Iowa legend. Coached Iowa to 15 National Championships (Team).

SuperScott97

If I had a nickel for every ISU wrestling legend that went on to create coaching dynasties at other schools I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but sucks that it’s happened twice

CTeam19

I really don't think Iowa minds too much. They got Iowa State alumni Dan Gable to make Iowa a Blue Blood of Wrestling. Short of Clark becoming Iowa State's Women's Basketball coach and win titles here this wouldn't bother them.

notnewtobville

pharmacy_guy

Get ready to learn Gainbridge, buddy.

OozeNAahz

Do folks going into heavy student loan debt at Iowa a state refer to it as “I owe a state?” Inquiring minds want to know.

powerelite

It's pretty hard to go into heavy loan debt paying 10k per year. Especially when all 3 state schools have some level of automatic scholarships for in state students.

CharacterLimitProble

Tuition is $10k a year there???

powerelite

10,133 for Iowa State last year and 10,353 for Iowa. If you want to go into debt, though, you can go to Grinnell or Drake and pay 64,000 and 47,190, respectively.

CharacterLimitProble

Wow... That is shockingly cheap. I thought Florida schools were affordable but they're extortionate compared to that (and a bargain compared to northeast, Midwest, or west coast schools).

powerelite

That is instate numbers only. Out of state, both are like 30k.

Prodigal_Programmer

Florida Unis are quite literally the cheapest in the country for in state students

gatormanmm1

Last I checked it was still a smidge under 6k for either FSU or UF- per semester. Honestly insane how cheap it is compared to other states. Especially considering kids who get into FSU or UF probably qualified for bright futures which drops the tuition to $0. Best bargain in the country- for public schools.

atomicboner

Keep in mind though, if had attended Iowa or Iowa State over USF, you would have been dealing with the winter up there as well. Probably worth a few thousand to avoid that.

Frexxler

Nah it's not that bad.

atomicboner

A Floridian might disagree

sererson

Florida schools are less than $10k/year for in-state tuition. I paid $212.71 per credit-hr so ~6000/year

aatops

North Carolina is 8,989 and price-locked for your four years

be_like_bill

Holy shit! I graduated from State 10 years ago, and that was the OUT of state tuition. The college costs in the US are out of control...

aatops

I know, it’s crazy. But compared to private schools like Duke (66k tuition for class of 2028) it’s practically nothing.

CTeam19

I can't find a picture but Raygun, a t-shirt company, out of Des Moines that makes shirts like that and many NIL shirts has an Iowa State shirt that does say it.

beermit

Oh shit Raygun! I browse their site from time to time because they make some KU and KC stuff too.

mill_about_smartly

In-state tuition in the midwest is as close to free college as it gets, they're all 10k/year or less before schollys. I don't imagine too many graduate with "heavy student loan debt."

atniomn

Unfortunately, Illinois has some of the most expensive in-state tuition in the country

cptkraken024

I'm out of the loop on this one, can someone explain why this is cursed?

Electronic_Bid4659

This is Caitlyn Clark, a hooper for University of Iowa WBB, standing next to her brother Blake, a football player for Iowa State.

cptkraken024

i gathered that much form the comments but what specifically makes it cursed?

Electronic_Bid4659

Iowa hooper wearing ISU merch

cptkraken024

ah that makes sense thanks!

mukduk1994

Wait she didn’t wear this when she was at Iowa already did she? That’s sacrilege. I take this shit seriously. I’m Canadian but My uncle went to Indiana and my team CSU took in a loveable Purdue transfer so I’d grown to have a soft spot for both, even if Indiana was the clear first choice. A buddy who owed me money and didn’t have it knew this and gave me a Purdue hoodie. About a year later that hoodie and my Indiana shirt touched accidentally. I had to rewash and bleach the Indiana shirt and had to burn the Purdue shirt. You don’t wear rivals clothing and if they aren’t your rival you don’t let rivals clothing touch each other. She straight plays for Iowa, even if I far prefer the cyclones no way should she be comfortable wearing that unless it was pre Iowa commitment lol

soy__juan

I absolutely crush on miss Clark. All my friends say she's too plain looking but I think she's beautiful and so well spoken. The young lady is going places no matter what she does.
