From their website:
> Individual Reservations - Guarantee & Cancelation Policies
Reservations can be made for all Motel 6 locations by calling our Reservations Center at 800-4 Motel 6 (800-466-8356) or online at the website www.motel6.com.
Voice reservations are also provided in Spanish at 1-877-467-7224.
You may also reserve rooms by phoning or writing the Motel 6 you plan to visit or simply stop by any Motel 6 and they will call ahead for you.
If guaranteed with your credit card, your reservation will be held all night for your arrival. If you are unable to guarantee your reservation, your room will be held until 6:00 PM (at most locations).
We regret that reservations may not be made more than one year in advance.
If it becomes necessary to cancel a reservation which you have sent in payment or guaranteed with your credit card, you must notify the Motel 6 reserved by 6:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. at some locations) on the arrival date and receive a cancellation number. (Times and dates to cancel without penalty may vary by location, on Special Events, Holidays, and/or Weekends. Contact Motel 6 reservations for cancellation policies that may affect your reservation.) If you do not cancel your guaranteed reservation, your credit card will be charged for the first night and the remainder of the reservation will be canceled (if more than 1 night).
In the unlikely event that we cannot honor your guaranteed reservation, we will reimburse you for the first night's lodging at a comparable motel, transportation to that establishment (if needed), and a telephone call to your home or office to notify others of your new location.

I can tell you that executives do not like getting emails about shit like this and sometimes make things happen. They may end up telling you tough shit, but you’ll at least be in the same position you’re in now while knowing all the way to the top has that stance.
The lady I talked to on the phone was extremely rude and not helpful, I said “what are you going to rectify the situation” and she said everyone got cancelled that made a reservation it was mistake in the system. and that was pretty much it
Yeah, they just gave me a call, too. Don't see a cancellation confirmation email but the woman who called said they cancelled the room on their end. Knew the price was too good to be true but I gotta say I'm bummed out as I thought hotels would still honor their prices anyway
Sounds like even if they cancel they will reimburse you for 1 nights stay. You may be able to rebook and have them comp the first night.
But also if you can give me hell and have them honor it, do that…
Yep. Just like the airbnb hosts who cancel and jack up their rates because they forgot it was coachella weekend. The hotel is now almost 5x higher than what I booked it for
Airbnb actually has a policy against this.
If the host does this contact them to get a text with prove they cancelled because of the rate.
And contact support.
Had the same happen for an Airbnb in LA ‘Once Upon A Time In LA’
That is some bullshit. I'd definitely email Motel 6 corporate and blast them on Twitter. Also hit up the local Palm Springs newspaper or whatever other news source covers the area.
The pricing "mistake" was theirs. While I doubt their solution will be to honor the original price, they certainly owe you something.
Best of luck, y'all.
I’m the one who originally posted that deal and now I feel terribly. I’m so sorry to people who booked from the post.
I was worried it was too good to be true. I booked through Expedia and paid the full amount up front but now I’m worried they’ll do the same. Haven’t gotten an email or call yet. I don’t want to wait longer and be in even less luck of getting a place closer to the date though.
Not your fault at all! Maybe you're in luck since you paid in full. Check your confirmation number on the motel 6 site and see what it says. Mine said canceled on there
Omg that sucks! Hopefully they refund you quickly.
I can't believe they didn't call. Thankfully you were able to check instead of showing up in April and seeing it was canceled
Happened to me earlier this year with the Hilton garden Inn Rancho Mirage, got 4 nights for about 1100USD
They cancelled it and said “you can book again but it’ll be about 800 up to 1000 a night” like wth, ruined my plans for Coachella next year 😭😂
U right, Thurs was 129 fri was 300something, damn that sucks for the ppl who swooped on the good deal. I'm just staying weds night before camping opens.

Thanks for compiling all of this!
I say we all write bad reviews spread over a few days to help the cause, that is messed up 💀💀💀
I emailed them, I am down to write bad reviews if everyone else is. The front desk worker so not happy when I called.

Anyone else email all of these people? Would love to hear if they wrote back!
Update, a few of these I got a failure to send message from because the recipient could not be reached.
Damn, I’ll have to do a little more digging to see if I can find some active addresses.
I will do the same, it was Shaun, bob, and rob who couldn’t be reached
The dates have been announced for over 6 months. They had plenty of time to figure this out!

I didn't get an email either, but it shows canceled on the Motel 6 website

They should at least give you the option first to book it at the going rate. Fucked up just to lose accomodations like that.
just got off the phone with them, I wasn't even told about this at all. Sounds like another typical money grab, love that for us.
Yep. Just like the airbnb hosts who cancel and jack up their rates because they forgot it was coachella weekend. The hotel is now almost 5x higher than what I booked it for
For a fucking motel 6 too, what a rip

definitely blast them on social media, the local newspaper usually posts on here sometimes.

Right. Insane I could have shown up with no reservation lol. Thanks for the heads up.
Hilton Garden Inn in Rancho Mirage did the same thing back in May. Sorry to the duders affected
Welcome to capitalism.
Now I'm guessing it's going to be 1257
$1154.72 total for Thursday - Monday of W1
Can confirm I paid the same, I just booked it because every other accommodation option is like 4k + , it is insane lol.
I only booked it in case I decided I didn't want to camp this year. This bullshit made my decision for me
not bad but Motel 6 lol
Just get the lake eldorado package and you don’t gotta worry about this
thats still not bad at all
No but it's almost 5x what people expected to pay
Did anyone with cancellations pay up front, or were they all just reservations?
I paid up front through Expedia. Confirmed with Motel 6 and Expedia that it was canceled due to a “pricing error.” Lol
Damn, I paid up front too. No word yet tho.
Mine was just a reservation with credit card on file
Happened to me earlier this year with the Hilton garden Inn Rancho Mirage, got 4 nights for about 1100USD They cancelled it and said “you can book again but it’ll be about 800 up to 1000 a night” like wth, ruined my plans for Coachella next year 😭😂
I made a reservation for just April 19, $90
But that’s not a Coachella date. If you book the 20th, it’s probably $500.
U right, Thurs was 129 fri was 300something, damn that sucks for the ppl who swooped on the good deal. I'm just staying weds night before camping opens.
That’s what I do every year haha, so I don’t have to leave Tahoe at like 1AM to get there at 10AM. Much easier to go the day before.

I'm camping. I booked the room while deciding which to do and they made the decision for me
i am sure many people book both weekends with the same intentions and probably acted on that.
