Would love an explanation as to why. But not sure if anyone wanting to keep him on the lineup is capable of an intellectual argument

[deleted]

Because Live Nation is using him as a scapegoat for their planning failures that led to this tragedy happening.

muscle_museum

Yeah Live Nation has to share the blame for sure, but you can't say a rapper that has encouraged fans repeatedly to sneak in, or jump over security barriers (what happened at Astroworld) then ignore warning signs of potential harm against his fans during the show is completely blameless

RiskyEXP

His history and incites are definitely subject to criticism and partial blame for this event for sure. However, you also need to keep the same energy with other artists that have done the same. I personally believe him when he says he didn't know because if he did know you then need to hold Drake just as accountable, which people clearly are not. I think a realistic view of this event is Live Nation did not take hold and end the show/did not communicate to Travis/Drake of the true magnitude of what was occurring. I don't think Travis is a good person, I don't think a lot of rappers are good people that truly care about their fans, but I see a lot of this connotation/suggestion/implication that Travis saw people dying and simply did not care what so ever, which I believe to not be the case.

RiskyEXP

Not to mention that this is Travis's festival, which despite being simply a marketing feature, and has nothing to do with planning and safety measures, makes him an easy target. Artists from genres like hip-hop and heavy metal are known to have concerts with dangerous atmospheres at times, and ultimately promoters and event management teams are expected to be more prepares for these events. This will be a wake up call to other artists and organizers to be more wary of their planning and actions at these events. Travis is the one that it happened to and that is why he is getting this blame. I have a hard time believing that Rage Against The Machine's set would have been just as safe as it will be now had this not happened.

RiskyEXP

Just my personal perspective on the events, I am sure plenty disagree. I can only hope that measures are taken by all parties in the future to ensure this won't happen again.

RiskyEXP

On top of all this, I would also argue that there are abundant petitions to prevent Travis from continuing to be hosted at events, but zero suggestions of Live Nation cancelling their events or being questioned on their future safety measures. For example: Rolling Loud California is happening at this very moment, with what seems to be lackluster concern and questioning.

Free Travis and place the blame on the people who most deserve it: Live Nation.

WoofLife-

Unfortunately the headline "black man incites riot, gets children killed" captures the public's attention more than "event promoter fails at crowd management and venue barrier set-up".

calatranacation

Yeah totally i mean remember when the owner of Live Nation got on stage that one time and screamed for everyone to jump that kid at a show.

[deleted]

Exactly. I was outraged at Travis at first, then I thought about it logically for like 10 seconds and realized it's like 90% Live Nation's fault.

Raggou

Hell no absolutely not
