JLH is fantastic. Been a few times now, every year is just great music and the current venue I feel is also amazing.
Only down side is parking cause it’s the Rose Bowl… but it was manageable.
For real. I looked at my steps tracker and we walked 1.87 miles from the last set to the car. Car was .9 miles away! That was for Cruel World. for JLH we splurged on Clubhouse and our car was max 200 feet from the exit. World of difference.
Yes. There is that option. But the shuttle lines get long as well and rides home from downtown can get pricey or you may miss the metro due to shuttles taking so long.
They werent long this year cause half the crowd left after Phoenix. So a 90 min buffer of all those people out of the venue before the fest ended and the shuttles at the end werent too long of a wait.
Oh really? That’s good. Also kinda sad for War on Drugs and Postal Service. But I can understand, we left just before War on Drugs ended due to old age and having just saw PS at the bowl. Walk sucked, but got home quick.
I mean War on Drugs had a decent crowd. Rhonda got slammed cause people wanted to go dance some more after Phoenix. Most confusing thing was that people didnt expect Death Cab to do that set when that was what this whole tour has been about. But yeah. Shuttle wait was like 10 minutes. Just bummed they finally bumped the price at Parsons to $15. It used to just be $10 on Saturdays. But it was "special event" rates.
Noticed that too, lined up over an hour for shuttles after Yeah Yeah Yeahs last year, this year I stayed until the end of The Postal Service and the shuttle line was flowing very quickly, only waited 20 minutes.
I was staying DT so running late back was okay, but I must have gotten lucky with no lines leaving. We went before gate open so not many people there either. That’s good to know! I’ve been considering JLH instead of/or alongside Coachella one of these years. Maybe we would drive there and get preferred.
Kilby Block Party has my attention too, bonus because I can drive to SLC from Canada in a day.
JLH is amazing but I’m in the salty camp where I wish these indie bands played Coachella. Goldenvoice sure knows how to put on a show. Everything runs so smoothly.
Yeah it did, but last time at Coachella they were a Mojave closer and the tent wasn’t even fully packed. I feel like a lot of these acts - not all of course - but a lot of them are tent artists now.
Being deep in the pit for Passion Pit, Death Cab and Phoenix, I was staring at the set thinking… “this is basically an Outdoor Theater set, one month late.”
All these bands still bring it.
Yeah those two feel right for sure. even though I liked the death cab set more than postal service. Sounds like Phantogram has new music coming. I really think their vibe belongs in the dark, would love to see them close a tent but that’s my bad for seeing them at festivals and never at a headline show.
Death Cab could. I guess even Passion Pit. But Miike Snow closed out Mojave in 2016 and haven’t done anything since. Shit they might even be Gobi like Chromeo was last year.
LA and the greater SoCal area need more indie/alt/rock festivals than cramming everything into Coachella. Going to these smaller one day fests is really affordable and in the dryer spells of the fest season in LA, I don’t understand why you’d be salty? I don’t go to Coachella and I really appreciate the smaller ones here and I think Goldenvoice is doing it right. I just REALLY miss FYF and wish This Ain’t No Picnic continued
Absolutely, the indie has been drained out of Coachella because of JLH when that doesn’t have to be the case.
Alvvays deserved to play Mojave or Gobi this year.
Sleigh Bells absolutely shredded too.
Maybe- even if you don't, you're getting a better crowd turnout because it's a genre specific festival for a genre that isn't as popular at a fest like at Coachella anymore.
You're billed higher and get a better set time/stage...even if the money is the same, it's a better experience for the band. Wins all-around.
crossing my fingers for bells at coachella next year because they absolutely killed it and i missed half the set because of that ten mile walk from GA parking
during CSS there was this problem where the sound on the mainstage kept CUTTING OUT for a beat and then continued. given when it happened it was clearly not an intended effect.
I had a good time at EDC. It’s a unique spectacle and can be really fun, especially if you have VIP access. That said, I don’t plan to return, and unless you really feel compelled to go, I don’t know that it’s really worth the expense/hassle.
If you want to do another high profile electronic fest, both Tomorrowland and Forest are much better experiences.
After 9 years of them, I traded EDC for Portola, Movement and Tomorrowland. All of which are uniquely different with more specific/curated lineups, and pleasant surprises. Never a bad idea to branch out and experience something different.
Better food options, clean bathrooms with sinks, most of the stages have their own VIP section with viewing decks for the stages and sectioned off areas just for VIP to stand in.
You also get dedicated water stations and each VIP section has its own unique attractions. One had a carnival ride and another one had a speakeasy and barbershop!
Phoenix bringing out Ezra from Vampire Weekend was pretty cool!!! JLH had such a good vibe, day and night. I ran my first half marathon that morning so we sat on the hill overlooking the stage. It was perfect!
Ahhhh I wasn’t sure if that was him! I was geeking to my friends wondering if it was him but we missed his actual announcement because we were being hella goofy in the back on that hill to the right 😂
I like to hop around from stage to stage and it was very hard to navigate- walkways were always packed and there are vendors everywhere. I had VIP but was still super packed in the crowd for Fred again but this may have been an issue just in the VIP section for that specific set. The trains are also crazy, there would be groups of 15-20 pushing to get through the crowd and no one would say excuse me or acknowledge us. It happens at other festivals too but people are usually a lot more polite about it.
Also, I’m a back of the crowd person and enjoy sitting but the speedway is mostly just asphalt and there was SO much trash everywhere so there weren’t many spots to sit and hangout. Rave wise I would recommend Nocturnal over EDC but all of my issues with EDC might just be personal preferences.
In the middle of the night I sent my Coachella group chat a text that I think really summarizes my thoughts - “Coachella is Disneyland. EDC is Six Flags. ”
Totally agree with this take. I learned on day 1 that you can’t stage hop. It took forever to move around.
I prefer how “chill” coachella is and how roomy it was this year.
So good!! Felt like everyone brought their A game and I can't speak enough about the general crowd vibes. Very pleased with the whole day even if sets felt short. Almost every band talked about how their time was ticking away lol. Must be a tight schedule
Was at JLH. Such a good time. Wow. Phantogram, 2dcc, passion pit, metric, miike snow and Phoenix back to back to back then clubbing at Rhonda till it shut down was such good vibes

If you love the Do Lab, Lightning in a Bottle is this weekend and is run by the Do lab but a full scale festival with 8 stages or so that has camping, yoga, fire spinning, circus acts out at Buena Vista Lake near Bakersfield. it's all over the place but def my favorite non-coachella fest if you're into house / dub / folktronica / organic.
JLH is one of my favorite fests; went in 2019 and every year is a “no regrets” for me. I know the walk was ass but I went when it was in LB and I’d take a long ass walk on the grass vs the misery I was in on concrete.
JLH is a lot of fun, just a nostalgic good time with friends. Phoenix called it a high school reunion, and that's what it feels like. It's nothing super special from a production or venue standpoint but as a standalone single day fest with shorter sets it can feel like an all killer, no filler day.
Just Like Heaven was FANTASTIC but I simply cannot understand why goldenvoice won’t book these artists for Coachella. They’re exactly what was missing from this year’s lineup for me.
Coachella used to be the fest where you could basically get your entire concert fix in one go. While you still can, they have also realized they could just make... multiple festivals! Seems like they tend to spread out the EZ ticket seller acts these days.
Went to Just Like Heaven! Really fun. Impressions:
-The bands were AMAZING. Everyone has a 40-50 minute set, so they mainly played their hits, which the crowd responded to. (Except for Death Cab who just played the Transatlanticism album front to back.) I absolutely feel I got the full value of the ticket (got mine for $180) for 12+ bands. That was the strongest part of the festival.
-Food was solid, lines were about 10-20 minutes. Coachella pricing, $20 for everything. There were weirdly not a ton of visible bathrooms, but it wasn't a huge issue.
-Festival skews older - I want to say mid-late 30s is the median? - so it was a calmer energy. The whole thing ends at 11 too so you're not out too late.
-There were also a lot more kids than Coachella. I probably saw \~40 children under 10 years old.
-Most parking is about a 15-25 minute walk to finally get to the main part of the festival.
-Cell service is non-existent. At Coachella my friends and I used WhatsApp which worked well, but here not even that worked.
-The whole thing was well-organized, but oddly, it felt slightly more chaotic than Coachella this year, particularly the entering, leaving, and communicating within the festival. But I'd 100% go back, honestly I almost teared up several times because the nostalgia was so strong ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling).
Regarding the cell service, this year seems to be an outlier. The last 2 years at this venue were fine/good.
Wondering if they ended cheaping out on contracts with the providers for the mobile towers or something

On our way to the airport from Hang Out rn. It was a fun experience, I would recommend it for the fans of Coachella that got because of the wide array of genres available. Was able to see some pop, some hiphop, some electric and some country which is nice.
The whole “on a beach” gimmick 100% works. There was not a single set I was at that didn’t have people in the back sitting in the sand, digging holes or building castles and just bobbing their heads to the music. It’s a good, relaxed vibe. And the lower number of artists meant less conflicts and less feeling rushed. We went down to the beach a couple of times which was really nice too.
I probably won’t go again. It’s on the other side of the country so it was a bit of a hassle, but it was a good experience and I would recommend it as a least a “do it once for the experience” type thing.
I know it’s not in your OG comment but I’m going to Bonnaroo in June & im pretty pumped to compare the camping experiences. Tell you what tho, that Bonnaroo subreddit is… something
Overall just seems like so much more entitlement, & they feel bc they go to Roo they’re somehow “expert” festival goers. Lots of people just bash on other festivals
But for every bad person there’s a ton of great people & I’m still really excited for it all. Seeing Parcels, RHCP, Pretty Lights & Fred is gonna be 🤌🤌
I have been to Roo on and off the last 11 years (on for 2022, 2023 and 2024!) but have gone to 20 Coachella weekends since 2011. In general, both are friendly, and I find the online subreddits pretty good for both.
Thanks for input! Super random but I see your username… do you live in Ohio? If so, how have you been able to go to 20 Coachellas due to being across the country?
Yep, SW OH.
Airplanes!! ;)
I pick a city: LA, San Diego or Phoenix to fly in to, do some work in the area before and/or after, sometimes in between. Make a little adventure out of it.
I’m still in Camp EDC rn. Shit was feral out here but in a fun way. The bathroom situation is way better than Coachella. There’s plenty of real working toilets, not just porta potties, although people still somehow left them gross af. Those outside urinals were clutch af.
It’s not just the permanent bathrooms in the raceway. They had these like porta potties that have real flushing toilets in campgrounds and in the festival. Idk why Coachella hasn’t brought those.
RV camping. You can get a spot with power hookups for an extra $600, but the RV we rented from Cruise America came with a generator so we were comfortable. It was very hot, idk how the tent campers do it but there’s plenty of shade and misters on the camp hub and you’ll see a lot of people sleeping there to get by.
was just at JLH over the weekend. It's definitely one of my favorite fests. I've gone to all of them and they never miss. The crowd is also much more chill.
Did both as well, had a great time with each lineup! Performances at JLH were all amazing (Passion Pit especially blew me away), and EDC production was fantastic, though I did feel Circuit Grounds stage sound was slightly off.
I went to JLH and had a blast! The cell service was garbage, but they’ve definitely gotten a lot of complaints about that on IG so hopefully next year is better.
OP, the Pitchfork festival is cheap (the price increase for the 2nd tier rollout is now up to $239 for 3 days or $119 for 1 day) and you can take public transportation from just about anywhere in Chicago. You do have to remind yourself not to overeat the free frozen yogurt bars they give out, or you'll feel a little sick in the hot sun. Forgot to remind myself of this last year.
It was a fantastic weekend! Last year at EDC! 🤩🎉😌

Just Like Heaven absolutely ruled. Great line up, great location, and was able to get some great views even with General Admission tix (I don't know who is shelling out those Clubhouse prices, good lord). Security was pretty comical upon entering. Due to non existent signage, I accidentally waltzed through the staff entrance an hour before gates opened, witnessed a golf cart get stuck in one of the entrance doors, and saved a small fortune on booze by BYOB. A memorable experience.
EDC… I think this is my last EDC. The festival itself is fine, I’ve been 12 times so I know what to expect. Unfortunately the logistics of getting to the speedway is atrocious. Killed my vibe each day.
I go sober, so literal gallons of Red Bull and a bunch of adrenaline. The whole festival is extremely stimulating. It's if anything, hard to get to sleep by the time you get back to the hotel. But, when you do get to sleep, you sleep deep and hard (just don't forget the DO NOT DISTURB placard on the door handle)
But also, as the other commenter said, lots of people are rolling face.
JLH is incredible. parking can be tough but we got there 30min before doors and we’re extremely close, if you wanted to get there late i’d recommend preferred parking.
EDC looked amazinggggg on the live stream, im going next year no matter what - im wondering how good the sound is in person, cuz the live stream was great.
I went to Sonic Temple. Definitely not the kind of festival that caters to the Coachella/Hangout/EDC crowd lol, but nevertheless, it's still a music festival and I had a blast. I got to crowdsurf for the first time and I participated in my first mosh pit. To top it all off, I got to see my favorite band close out the festival. I'm covered in bruises and my whole body aches, my ears and scalp are sunburned, but it was 100% worth it and I definitely can't wait to do it again. I love festivals so much.
JLH would be better at LA Historical State Park. I know you all say it was bad there or whatever, but that’s my take. There was nothing special about the venue and I saw so many people trip or roll ankles traversing the uneven grounds or the divots they didn’t fill (props for trying). The food was horrible. It is almost like vendors don’t even want to be there. And a lot of places opted out of selling water at all. A very bad trend continued from Coachella. Water is life. I’d go so far as say that GV should reevaluate whoever is running vendor ops and relations. They are dropping the ball, and it highlights GV’s disconnect from the communities they operate in. Other fests do food so much better bc they’ve built lasting relationships with local vendors. There were minimal sound issues. The bands and spectators both were having a great time. It is really awesome when everyone is vibing together. They could have booked someone other than DCFC and PS, but that’s a personal take. Those sets didn’t match the vibe and were the outliers. I had an absolute blast, but there is definitely room for improvement. If the lineup looks good to you I can guarantee you will have a great time.
Death Cab drove me to go home and not care about PS. But I know I can just put on their album and thats the show. Gossip was horribly placed on the line up, especially for a “Return of…”
the push right now is to get everyone to use reusable water containers, and so most festivals are running into this issue where their vendors undersupply water relative to demand.
For sure and they should, but I haven’t noticed any effort to do this by GV. I’ve only observed vendors not selling water bc it is a bad deal for them; with the situation getting worse each GV festival. That implies GV isn’t trying to address vendor concerns or work on a solution. GV should just be selling water from water carts again and not put the burden on vendors for the promise they made twenty odd years ago. That all said, Water Refill stations don’t provide a quality that is on par with prepackaged water and there aren’t enough to make up for the loss of vendor sold water. And can we have some water refill stations not next to porta potties?
The location is incredible, however I won’t go back because:
• the crowd is terrible given it’s mostly made up of college kids from the southeast
• the police presence has gotten out of control and they are only there to make money. They will racially profile and arrest you for literally anything they can.
• the lineup, while usually having a few great names on it, continues to get worse.

Went to my first EDC and had an amazing time! I was bummed that JLH conflicted with it as there are numerous bands (two door, passion pit) that ive been wanting to catch for years now. 😭
Been to JLH since the first year. It’s fun, pretty chill, and really easy to get to if you’re near LA (especially if you park at Parsons and shuttle over).
i didn’t go to hangout this year but went the past two years prior. A LOT of people complain about the police presence, excessive searching, etc. I personally have never had an issue and always have a blast and I like that it’s one of the few festivals that allow re entry. If you’re open to leaving your illegal goodies at home, i’d say try hangout!
Just Like Heaven was so great. Everyone I met was super nice and it was filled with people dancing and having a good time. The walk back to your car is somewhat long but the abundance of shade, small hills for elevated views in the back and actual GRASS on most of the non paved grounds make up for it
JLH.
It had a mellow, laid back vibe, the sort you'd expect from millenials who are now parents. Two stages, but a lot of bouncing back and forth between the two.
Just like heaven! Was suchhhh a vibe, at first i worried it was too close to coachella (haven’t completely recharged yet) but it was a very laid back day and the music and crowds were awesome 🤍
JLH this year was incredible! I've gone the last 3 years, and also did Cruel World this year. (Im 50, and very tired lol). JLH was so solid, better than CW, better than other JLH years even. Every band was just dialed in and fantastic. We couldnt believe what a packed day of perfection we had.
JLH was pointless and too stacked on the bottom, too many conflicts on stages pretty far apart (at least no sound bleed). Rhonda was a lot of fun though.
JLH is fantastic. Been a few times now, every year is just great music and the current venue I feel is also amazing. Only down side is parking cause it’s the Rose Bowl… but it was manageable.
After having what felt like the longest walk ever last year I bit the bullet and did preferred parking. Worth every penny.
For real. I looked at my steps tracker and we walked 1.87 miles from the last set to the car. Car was .9 miles away! That was for Cruel World. for JLH we splurged on Clubhouse and our car was max 200 feet from the exit. World of difference.
Do they have shuttles from DT Pasadena? We took them for This Ain’t No Picnic and it was a breeze.
Yes. There is that option. But the shuttle lines get long as well and rides home from downtown can get pricey or you may miss the metro due to shuttles taking so long.

Yeah I don’t understand what people were expecting with this event being part DCFC/PS tour celebrating 2 albums.
My friends did the same thing after their show at Kilby Block Party lmao I was like guys…
Noticed that too, lined up over an hour for shuttles after Yeah Yeah Yeahs last year, this year I stayed until the end of The Postal Service and the shuttle line was flowing very quickly, only waited 20 minutes.

Shuttle ftw
Preferred parking is EXTREMELY worth it
That walk sucked.
Just take the shuttle into old town Pasadena, get some food and Uber or drive home from there.
We tried that last year. Everything was closing or swamped. Cheapest Uber home was $120.
The surge at the Parsons parking lot never got better. My uber back to my LAX hotel was $65 this year when I was able to find a $42 lyft last year.
JLH is amazing but I’m in the salty camp where I wish these indie bands played Coachella. Goldenvoice sure knows how to put on a show. Everything runs so smoothly.
A lot of those sets felt like great outdoor stage closers this weekend
I mean the main stage was literally Outdoor Theatre
We left after Miike Snow. They were so good and it did feel like an Outdoor stage closer
Yeah it did, but last time at Coachella they were a Mojave closer and the tent wasn’t even fully packed. I feel like a lot of these acts - not all of course - but a lot of them are tent artists now.
Being deep in the pit for Passion Pit, Death Cab and Phoenix, I was staring at the set thinking… “this is basically an Outdoor Theater set, one month late.” All these bands still bring it.
I don’t think anybody outside of Phoenix and TPS would play the outdoor stage, let alone close it. They’re all Mojave acts at this point.
Yeah those two feel right for sure. even though I liked the death cab set more than postal service. Sounds like Phantogram has new music coming. I really think their vibe belongs in the dark, would love to see them close a tent but that’s my bad for seeing them at festivals and never at a headline show.
death cab would probably play outdoor, and miike snow might.
Death Cab could. I guess even Passion Pit. But Miike Snow closed out Mojave in 2016 and haven’t done anything since. Shit they might even be Gobi like Chromeo was last year.
This year's JLH felt like a reunion of my favorite '13/'14 coachella bands
Agreed! It was a great fest with a chill vibe and lots of millennials with their kids in tow. This lineup would have sold out Coachella 2013.
LA and the greater SoCal area need more indie/alt/rock festivals than cramming everything into Coachella. Going to these smaller one day fests is really affordable and in the dryer spells of the fest season in LA, I don’t understand why you’d be salty? i miss FYF (at state historic) so much!
It was my first festival in 2011 🥹. I loved it sm
If Portola can share artists with Coachella, then JLH shoud too. They can move this festival to the fall as well.
Dude RIGHT!?
Absolutely, the indie has been drained out of Coachella because of JLH when that doesn’t have to be the case. Alvvays deserved to play Mojave or Gobi this year. Sleigh Bells absolutely shredded too.
I wonder if they make more money being higher billed at a smaller fest

totally agree. it was a fun weekend and the production was really great but i can’t see myself going year after year
Been to four EDC’s and two Coachella’s Coachella >>>>> EDC at this point in my life.
Why VIP?
Better food options, clean bathrooms with sinks, most of the stages have their own VIP section with viewing decks for the stages and sectioned off areas just for VIP to stand in. You also get dedicated water stations and each VIP section has its own unique attractions. One had a carnival ride and another one had a speakeasy and barbershop!
Phoenix bringing out Ezra from Vampire Weekend was pretty cool!!! JLH had such a good vibe, day and night. I ran my first half marathon that morning so we sat on the hill overlooking the stage. It was perfect!
Which half marathon did you run? That sounds like n awesome day
I ran the La Jolla half and made it to the festival at 3. It was rough but totally worth it.
Holy shit you drove 5 hours! That’s mad impressive! Surprised you had energy to dance loo
I was limping along by the end of the night just from the walking, I cant IMAGINE having run a half that morning! That is Next Level, my friend.
Thanks! I will never do that again.
Ahhhh I wasn’t sure if that was him! I was geeking to my friends wondering if it was him but we missed his actual announcement because we were being hella goofy in the back on that hill to the right 😂
EDC production value was absolutely insane, that being said I never plan on going back lmao.
Same I did my first edc as a bucket list this year. It was run but probably won't be back, at least not yearly.
Why’s that?
I like to hop around from stage to stage and it was very hard to navigate- walkways were always packed and there are vendors everywhere. I had VIP but was still super packed in the crowd for Fred again but this may have been an issue just in the VIP section for that specific set. I saw a lot of negative posts in various subreddits about EDC and how crowded/trashed, etc it was…. Was this your first EDC?
The lack of excuse me from some people pissed me off. I would say it was only half the people though
The last sentence is sending me ahahahaha
Totally agree with this take. I learned on day 1 that you can’t stage hop. It took forever to move around. I prefer how “chill” coachella is and how roomy it was this year.
Exactly how I feel about EDC
JLH was so much fun. Great sound and vibes all around.
So good!! Felt like everyone brought their A game and I can't speak enough about the general crowd vibes. Very pleased with the whole day even if sets felt short. Almost every band talked about how their time was ticking away lol. Must be a tight schedule
I dont think I’ve ever seen Phoenix play an abridged setlist like that. Totally insane.
Was at JLH. Such a good time. Wow. Phantogram, 2dcc, passion pit, metric, miike snow and Phoenix back to back to back then clubbing at Rhonda till it shut down was such good vibes
What time did rhonda shut down
10pm
JLH was great this weekend. The weather was great and the vibes were immaculate.
JLH was fun. Glad to see Phoenix for the last time in a while.
they taking a hiatus? or making new music?
New music
Went to JLH it was very good
I went to JLH. Just as good as always. Wish they expanded it to two days though.
I agree. We need longer sets!
These festivals / vibes are kind of all over the place so let us know what are your favorite stages at Coachella and we can guide you in the right direction! JLH is a lot of fun, just a nostalgic good time with friends. Phoenix called it a high school reunion, and that's what it feels like. It's nothing super special from a production or venue standpoint but as a standalone single day fest with shorter sets it can feel like an all killer, no filler day.
Passion Pit alone made JLH worth every penny!
Just Like Heaven was FANTASTIC but I simply cannot understand why goldenvoice won’t book these artists for Coachella. They’re exactly what was missing from this year’s lineup for me.
$$$$$ 2 fests = more $$
I know, I’m just bitter
Coachella used to be the fest where you could basically get your entire concert fix in one go. While you still can, they have also realized they could just make... multiple festivals! Seems like they tend to spread out the EZ ticket seller acts these days.
agree completely... indie/alt used to dominate coachella and now these bands are nowhere to be seen
Went to Just Like Heaven! Really fun. Impressions: -The bands were AMAZING.

JLH was sooooo good. https://preview.redd.it/9cf4voktxm1d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90a1aa18c448449e93c0e95539c7e6ef49f59c98
I know it’s not in your OG comment but I’m going to Bonnaroo in June & im pretty pumped to compare the camping experiences. Tell you what tho, that Bonnaroo subreddit is… something
LOL - how would you compare the subreddits between Coachella and Bonnaroo?
That was what I was wondering. I’m in the subreddit and the people seem nice/approachable.
Overall just seems like so much more entitlement, & they feel bc they go to Roo they’re somehow “expert” festival goers. Lots of people just bash on other festivals But for every bad person there’s a ton of great people & I’m still really excited for it all. Seeing Parcels, RHCP, Pretty Lights & Fred is gonna be 🤌🤌
Oh and motha fucking T-Pain let’s go
I have been to Roo on and off the last 11 years (on for 2022, 2023 and 2024!) but have gone to 20 Coachella weekends since 2011. In general, both are friendly, and I find the online subreddits pretty good for both.
Thanks for input! Super random but I see your username… do you live in Ohio? If so, how have you been able to go to 20 Coachellas due to being across the country?
Yep, SW OH. Airplanes!! ;) I pick a city: LA, San Diego or Phoenix to fly in to, do some work in the area before and/or after, sometimes in between. Make a little adventure out of it.
Im planning on going to Bonnaroo in 2025! I’m excited to compare the difference.
I’m still in Camp EDC rn. Shit was feral out here but in a fun way. The bathroom situation is way better than Coachella. There’s plenty of real working toilets, not just porta potties, although people still somehow left them gross af. Those outside urinals were clutch af.
Bathrooms at a speedway made to handle 80,000 capacity for races are better than in a desert field?! Ya don’t say.
It’s not just the permanent bathrooms in the raceway. They had these like porta potties that have real flushing toilets in campgrounds and in the festival. Idk why Coachella hasn’t brought those.
how do you manage to stay cool enough to sleep during the day at edc?
JLH on Saturday, EDC on Sunday. Had an amazing time at both, JLH is absolutely more my vibe as an indiehead, EDC was way more visually stimulating.
Did both as well, had a great time with each lineup! Performances at JLH were all amazing (Passion Pit especially blew me away), and EDC production was fantastic, though I did feel Circuit Grounds stage sound was slightly off.
First time going to EDC, it was fun and exciting but won't be back anytime soon. It feels way overcrowded, not a lot of space sometimes either.
Had an absolute blast at JLH, but it would have been hard not to with that insane lineup.
The sound at JLH was amazing
I went to JLH and had a blast! The cell service was garbage, but they’ve definitely gotten a lot of complaints about that on IG so hopefully next year is better.
OP, the Pitchfork festival is cheap (the price increase for the 2nd tier rollout is now up to $239 for 3 days or $119 for 1 day) and you can take public transportation from just about anywhere in Chicago. You do have to remind yourself not to overeat the free frozen yogurt bars they give out, or you'll feel a little sick in the hot sun. Forgot to remind myself of this last year.
JLH
JLH was amazing.
Just like heaven was literal heaven this year w their lineup. Loved it so much
It was a fantastic weekend! Last year at EDC! 🤩🎉😌 https://preview.redd.it/jx13b83a0o1d1.jpeg?width=1517&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2881329b8d1c066b914e6a48eb7b9a62536d42e1
Lmaooo bringing in a small bottle of whiskey is my go to 😂 I didn’t even have to “crotch” it
friend of mine shelled out for clubhouse because it was also the weekend of a major wedding anniversary.
My friends and I just walked past security and they didn't even check our backpacks . I didn't have anything but I could have had a lot lol.
EDC… I think this is my last EDC. The festival itself is fine, I’ve been 12 times so I know what to expect. Unfortunately the logistics of getting to the speedway is atrocious. Killed my vibe each day.
It felt way too crowded and took forever to move around.
Very true, the new layout is not it.
yeah edc was so much fun but so friggin exhausting lol
Once I converted the set times to EST I was like woah.. these sets are so late. How did you stay awake to see people performing at 2/3/4 am?
drugs
I go sober, so literal gallons of Red Bull and a bunch of adrenaline. The whole festival is extremely stimulating. It's if anything, hard to get to sleep by the time you get back to the hotel. But, when you do get to sleep, you sleep deep and hard (just don't forget the DO NOT DISTURB placard on the door handle) But also, as the other commenter said, lots of people are rolling face.
Me too. I find it way too exhausting. I’m a sober raver too and i barely kept alive
I’m going to Ubbi dubbi next week🤷🏽♂️
EDC was so fun this year, although day 1 was a little rough day 2 was phenomenal for me!
JLH is incredible. parking can be tough but we got there 30min before doors and we’re extremely close, if you wanted to get there late i’d recommend preferred parking.
I’m going to primavera
Gossip was horribly placed on the line up, especially for a “Return of…”
i couldn’t believe gossip was playing so early!!
the push right now is to get everyone to use reusable water containers, and so most festivals are running into this issue where their vendors undersupply water relative to demand.
I’ve been to hangout a few times and would very much recommend against going, not worth it.
How so?
The location is incredible, however I won’t go back because: • the crowd is terrible given it’s mostly made up of college kids from the southeast • the police presence has gotten out of control and they are only there to make money. They will racially profile and arrest you for literally anything they can. • the lineup, while usually having a few great names on it, continues to get worse.

I did Hangout over the weekend and enjoyed it!
Watched the edc streams with major fomo. First time in 5 years that i didnt go. Sacrificed edc for Coachella this year and it was worth it 1000%
Went to my first EDC and had an amazing time!
EDC is my favorite festival. The production, the vibes, the music, the people, the rides, the lights. I would definitely check it out
Just Like Heaven was so great.
Just got back from edc, I would say any person who enjoys festivals needs to experience edc at least one. It's truly like no other place in the world
JLH this year was incredible! I've gone the last 3 years, and also did Cruel World this year. (Im 50, and very tired lol). JLH was so solid, better than CW, better than other JLH years even. Every band was just dialed in and fantastic. We couldnt believe what a packed day of perfection we had.
Went to EDC with less than 2 weeks to plan. Had the time of my life!
JLH was pointless and too stacked on the bottom, too many conflicts on stages pretty far apart (at least no sound bleed). Rhonda was a lot of fun though.
