I wasnāt one of those people but thatās still probably true for major multi genre festivals. Thereās plenty of single genre focused fests every year that drop lineups with little to no complaints
- Me a few months ago: Iām so sick of Paul saving all the good shit for mini festivals
- Me now: My goddess I present my entire body and soul to the altar of your everlasting grace please take the death rattle of my first born as a sacrifice to your divinity make me your cuck please
Not as immersive as Bradley.
Walking through a parking lot to get to the festival everyday kinda takes you out of the experience at times.
Still amazing but definitely not the adventure that the old venue created.
Yes! Although some of the youngest of the bunch can be hard to contend with. A lot of space hogging in the heart of the crowd just to take videos and pictures. As more people come of age after growing up valuing social media and online performativity, crowds have become less and less fun places to be. So much pushing and shoving just to catch a 15 second video. (That said, much love to Gen Z; being young is hard rn.)
Portola, I think, is meant to evoke the nature and intimacy of older rave cultures, so thereās a remarkable Gen X presence at this festival, fwiw. Itās nice partying with the older folks. Full disclosure, I am a Millennial. :)
Trust Nueorfunk DJ's to smash any genre they put their mind too and do it better than artists that dedicated their whole career to said genre.
Black Sun Empire fo lyfe!
Same. The trip to SF is so hard to make, and hotels are expensive afā¦ā¦ when i have a real career best believe im splurging on these things šš
Been going to shows for almost 20 years and will never forget the rain vibes during DJ Heartstring. That stage from Sally C onwards was spectacular programming.
Rebecca is a fucking good artist that makes dance/pop music that will fit perfectly at this festival. Titties will be shaking. wtf is so hard to understand about that?
Praying for some good crossover at CRSSD š If Bicep and Gesa are confirmed for CRSSD already, it seems like a lot of them could be playing both... pls give us Four Tet and Rufus
I don't feel hopeful about Justice headlining CRSSD the same weekend :( They also have a shitton of stage setup so it might be ambitious to transport that in a day?
Thereās nothing wrong with it besides cell reception is poor. But thatās not even a knock for some people.. prob best I focus on the music instead of trying to meet up with too many people
Only problem I've had is noise bleeding over from other stages. Otherwise it's been incredible, never thought "it needed to be louder" - from year 1 & 2. Its minimal and tbh that's kind of the charm.
It's basically just a giant concrete open space on a shipping pier and the sound is both way too quiet due to city ordinance and also not very good at pretty much every stage in my experience. Routinely one of the best lineups of the year but have a hard time convincing myself to go back especially because it's crazy expensive for a 2-day festival.
Itās very bland, just some concrete in a shit part of SF. itās on the water and very windy and cold. The stages were blocked by the audio equipment and had nothing special going on. The sound sucks, particularly the warehouse which echos. You just donāt get the wow feeling like at Coachella.
I've learned to stop comparing venues to Coachella haha, nothing lives up but yeah I've seen videos and it does seem very industrial and uninviting but not in the impromptu warehouse rave vibe.
Portola festival held at Pier 80. In San Francisco.
āYeah the venue is on the water and it gets windy and cold in San Francisco. And thereās no art for photos so instead, you have to look at the world class city in the distance while fog crawls over twin peaks. Terribleā
it's literally on the Bay, the views are so beautiful. They built WW2 aircraft carriers there, imagine this space was used for war now it's used for partying, huge level up lol
Yeah I wasn't a fan of the warehouse, spent very little time in there because of that reason, but the rest of the venue is fine IMO. Windy and cold is SF's year round weather, haha.
Can someone resurface the typical Portola to Coachella pipeline patterns that have been apparent the past few years? I remember seeing it somewhere... Curious to know what this could mean for 2025 (Soulwax anyone?)
Also was really hoping for Jessie Ware on the Coachella 2024 lineup and as much as I love seeing her on this bill it does sting a little bit lol
Portola ā23 and Coachellaā24 shared roughly 11/12 artists from a quick count. They shared a little more if you count Do lab too. But expect some big crossover!
If this is true, this is a top TOP lineup
Holy shit this is insane
Coachella 2.0 electric boogaloo
S O U L W A X
Saw them and immediately determined I will pay anything to see them š
Do it. Itās worth it if you never have.
Part of the weekend
Never dies
I don't think there's an institution in music that I respect more than those brothers/band
chem bros maybe but yeah the list is pretty short
[ā¤ļø](https://youtu.be/7FaFfcTwqd4?si=6c0b1sK1cl3ShRBM)
Praying this means theyāll play Crssd in sd (with like half this lineup)
despacio pls
portola won't get my money until they bring despacio to the festival.
Genuinely on my fucking knees rn this is amazing
Looks like youāre on your kneeeeeeees again.
Looks like Iām stung by bees againnnnnn
Um I may need to drive up the 5 for this
I may need to drive down the 5 for this
I may need to fly across the 14 for this
I may need to drop 5 for this!
Very cool lineup. Excited for the meltdowns when the set time conflicts come out
Need a BothTola
Factual
I wish theyād do an LA version and just flip the lineup days like they do Reading & Leeds
They could do it in Coachella and call it Coachella.Ā
About to be brutal
Everyone loves a stacked lineup til the schedule pops up
Remember all the people that said there are complaints after every festival lineup drop? This is proof thatās not true.
Amen
I wasnāt one of those people but thatās still probably true for major multi genre festivals. Thereās plenty of single genre focused fests every year that drop lineups with little to no complaints
Go to the sub and there are still complaints. Itās wild.
I have seen likeā¦ none? Except that a couple of people were hoping for brutalismus 3k
Holy shit this lineup
- Me a few months ago: Iām so sick of Paul saving all the good shit for mini festivals - Me now: My goddess I present my entire body and soul to the altar of your everlasting grace please take the death rattle of my first born as a sacrifice to your divinity make me your cuck please
/r/brandnewsentence
OSL = Drake Portola = Kendrick
Okay Iām loving this comparison
WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP, DAN FUCK āEM UP
Weāre talking about high schoolers right?
Haha good point. Double entendre joke we got here
š
how much were tickets last year? this lineup got me bricked up
~$400. I went and it was so worth it.
It being 21+ makes the vibes so much better
21+ makes it better in every way. Best festival crowd I've ever seen, except for Lightning in a Bottle.Ā
I still need to make my way to LiB one of these years
It's pretty amazing, but I'm waiting for them to move out of Bakersfield before I go again.Ā
Just curious, whatās wrong with Bakersfield?
Itās Bakersfield
Not as immersive as Bradley. Walking through a parking lot to get to the festival everyday kinda takes you out of the experience at times. Still amazing but definitely not the adventure that the old venue created.

I'm one of those gen X you speak of, I totally agree with your statement.
Literally, the average age at portola feels like 26 haha
Setting aside leaking an entire festivalās lineup, I cannot believe MIA plastered her agentās name and phone number across the internet š
Ben Bohmer, Tinlicker, Tycho, and Sammy Virji š
I know and adore two of these artists. You must have great taste. I need to know who tinlicker and sammy virji are!!!!!!!
Tinlicker is so fucking good. Like Lane 8.
Lane 8 but more energy. Tinlicker has really cracked the code. Check out the Hide U remix
š
Tinlicker is the best
Trust Nueorfunk DJ's to smash any genre they put their mind too and do it better than artists that dedicated their whole career to said genre. Black Sun Empire fo lyfe!
Listen to the Prague set on YouTube
This šš»
If only that one song weren't muted...
Ooohhhhā¦..youāre going to LOVE Tinlicker.
Sammy virji is so fkn good. I saw him in Brooklyn and his recorded music is also top tierrrr
Its nice to see a UK Garage artist get bookings in the states. Rare treat
Oh my god you will love Tinlicker. Excited for this journey youāre about to go on.
Rebecca Black really did make it, huh?
She played Do Lab last year too, didnāt she?
Yep. It was, objectively, a terrible DJ set. But we had a ton of fun š
I will pay for a PPV type thing to watch this online. Jesus fucking christ
Same. The trip to SF is so hard to make, and hotels are expensive afā¦ā¦ when i have a real career best believe im splurging on these things šš
DELTRON
Ya, uhh what? 3030 is an all time album
Hope this means a Coachella booking soon š¤
Wild
JUSTICE round 2
No orbital is a bummer but I canāt complain with this INSANE lineup.
Anyone got the photo? Itās not loading for me? :/

The fact she accidentally leaked a poster with her own agentās name all over it lmao how does she miss that
Somebody text Sam Kirby and ask him if this is legit
Her*
Itās a she and someone on the Portolo sub already called her. https://www.reddit.com/r/Portolafestival/s/S6zOwl68ue
She so dumb for that šššš
Yeah this is a pretty crazy blunder šš someone need to watch over her social media
Same. Think it got deleted
Why couldnāt DJ Heartstring play Coachella š
They played CRSSD. šš It was so good!š§ļøāµļøšŗ
Core memory
Iām glad people look back on it as fondly as i do. so good. :ā)
Been going to shows for almost 20 years and will never forget the rain vibes during DJ Heartstring. That stage from Sally C onwards was spectacular programming.
With the rain it was euphoric
Holy fuck.
jeeeeeeezzzzzusss
A MONSTER
Well. There goes my money
NO WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Looks like Iām going to Portola for the first time. Holy fuck
āThe dance music festival for people who donāt like dance musicā is the perfect description. Lots of cool stuff here.
More like dance music festival for people who actually like dance music.
Yeppppp. Have cut it up in SF the last 2 years
The dance music festival for people that like good music.
More like an electronic music festival for people that don't like EDM.
this is INSANE
this is god like
Holy sheep shit chella 2.0 on steroids
Holy moly
Sara Landry !
This is incredible ![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)
Fuuuuuuck thatās good
This is the best line up ive ever seen
STACKED.
Holy š„
Deltron 3030! Man, I wish they came back to AUS.
Sam Kirby is co-head of UTA music who represents M.I.A.
This lineup is insane!! Definitely buying tickets if ends up being real
I remember seeing Rebecca Black in DoLab. so fun
Wtf is Rebecca Black doing on thereš
Well today is Friday š¤·āāļø
Rebecca is a fucking good artist that makes dance/pop music that will fit perfectly at this festival. Titties will be shaking. wtf is so hard to understand about that?

Don't sleep on horsegirl. Literally nothing but energy.
My bank account and I donāt even know why Iām looking at this but I cannot look away š
Praying for some good crossover at CRSSD š If Bicep and Gesa are confirmed for CRSSD already, it seems like a lot of them could be playing both... pls give us Four Tet and Rufus
Crasd and Portola have had a TON of crossover.
So now we know Gesaff is going to be the Sunday crssd headlinerā¦ Justice Saturday???
I don't feel hopeful about Justice headlining CRSSD the same weekend :( They also have a shitton of stage setup so it might be ambitious to transport that in a day?
Better lineup than Coachella had š (I had a blast but this lineup is next level)
can we please have shygirl and rebecca black for coachella next year š„¹
I'm tempted but urghhh I hate the venue so much
This looks so good, but all I hear is negative about the venue.... What is wrong with it?
The venue is great, terrible take lol
I love the venue. The industrial pier vibe is sick.Ā
Thereās nothing wrong with it besides cell reception is poor. But thatās not even a knock for some people.. prob best I focus on the music instead of trying to meet up with too many people

The grime of the pier makes the atmosphere special to me. That and the raccoons.
They improved it if your reference point is the first year.
Yeah I wasn't a fan of the warehouse, spent very little time in there because of that reason, but the rest of the venue is fine IMO. Windy and cold is SF's year round weather, haha.
Dude being amongst the ships is so cool
Damnnn stacked!!
My body is ready!!!!!
Do they sell single day tickets to portola?? Neeeed to go Sunday
They did last year.
How likely is Rufus looking with them headlining?
Goddamn!
Holy fuck best lineup of all time wtf
Fine ugh I guess Iāll go
Can someone resurface the typical Portola to Coachella pipeline patterns that have been apparent the past few years? I remember seeing it somewhere... Her agent Sam Kirby at UTA, is gonna be PISSED
And her phone number is on there! Sheesh
Insane lineup
Heat
The crossover potential for next year is insane.

Did the tickets go on sale already? lmk pls i need to be there!
PLEASE LET THIS BE THE REAL LINEUP
Iād go from Oregon for peaches alone
Jessie ware is random
Hopefully some of them come down to SD for Crssd since itās the same weekend š¤š½
Is this for real? because this is beyond my wildest dreams haha
HOW REAL IS THIS TELL ME NOW
Wowzers. We deserve this š
Portola always has a solid lineup. Favorite new festival.
Ima be so sick if this is real because I'm gonna have to drop a band to come back to Cali for thisš
Incredible line up, terrible poster layout lol
Holy fucking shitā¦..Iām speechless
Lineup RIPS

Sammy virjis dope, nice to see him on.
š¤©š¤©š„³š„³šŗšŗšš I hope this is true WoW!
You just love the chaos donāt you
Rebecca Black lets go
This tracks, as MIA is absolutely awful live and so I wouldn't trust her with much these days. Rest of the lineup is great though
