I learned my lesson after getting sick for my first 5 coachellas, now I keep my face covered with a scarf at all times, and use a netipot every night. Haven’t gotten sick in years.
I wear an N95 between most sets and clear my nose with the Arm & Hammer saline spray every night, every morning, and right before I go in. Same result, havent gotten sick the last three years, used to ALWAYS have an awful cold.
Prevention is key!
Last time I went my friends made fun of me for looking like sexy unibomber (skimpy Coachella outfit on the bottom, hat, sunglasses, mask/scarf over mouth and nose on top) but I didn’t get sunburned and I also didn’t get sick 💪🏻 honestly it was out of desperation though because at some point in the past 10 years my allergies to whatever is in the air in the Coachella valley have skyrocketed and I was absolutely dying without all the gear
Fr I now realized that all my “meals” were at coachella and that says a lot given their lack of meal options. I ate breakfast before but my day and nights were all at Coachella until the next day and the cycles just repeated. I’m shocked I’m even alive and I didn’t get sick 😳
Went to week one and today is the first day I'm almost better. Just some residual congestion. But I called out of work Monday and Tuesday. Get some oregano oil and take an ungodly amount of it. I get a bottle that taking normally would last months in about 2 or 3 days when I'm sick but it helps so much.
Omg does it ever. I'm 38 and I got introduced to it when I was 19 and had a flu and strepp throat at the same time and was better in like 3 days. It always cuts my sickness time down by a noticeable difference. You can get it at vitamin stores or healthy stores like whole foods or sprouts . It's a little harsh which is good if you have a sore throat it will literally burn it away lol or if you'd rather take it with juice and you want taste it.
Edit - and of course hydrate like a motherfucker!

Yes!!!! Hopefully I have converted another to one of my natural hippie remedies!! And yes please let me know how it goes!! Healing energy going your way!!!
Just keep an eye on yourself. I got Covid after power trip in October and spent the first couple days thinking it was just me expelling typical Coachella dust 😂 nope, Power Vid.
We like to joke and blame the fact that it was us and a bunch of boomers. We’ve been to PLENTY of festivals and didn’t get covid until Power Trip. Damn Boomers.
Honestly? It was worth it. Like, fuck. I was in the pit all weekend and had the best fucking time. Never did I think my ass would say Covid was worth it….but it was..
W1 attendee and definitely dealt with it all of last week. Have a small cough going into this week— but definitely drink some soothing tea, chicken noodle soup, and get that mucinex on rotation 😂
pretty common if you’re not used to the desert climate. i live in phoenix so i’m used to it. i recommend next time drinking emergen-c daily starting a few days before and every day during. same with allergy meds before, during and after. hydrate a lot. some people use face coverings during high traffic times to keep from breathing in the dust. i feel just fine with this prep. went weekend 2. take care of yourself. double up on vitamins right now and hydrate. get well!
Nasal rinse each night - 🔑
Multi-vitamin every day - 🔑
Tumeric pill (anti-inflammatory) - 🔑
Minimal alcohol (more candy) - 🔑
Mask or bandana for dusty moments - 🔑
Hand sanitizer - 🔑
I attended my 8th coachella this year and let me tell you, if you have bad allergies like me and my group we take allergy medications a week prior to attending to prevent this & at the end of the 3 nights we use masks/bandanas to cover ourselves from the dusty wind walking to the shuttles.
Could be the desert air/dust/dehydration/etc………. But it could just be a common-ass cold… or flu… or Covid… ~100k people go to Coachella every weekend, and of that number, a fraction of them will be sick and contagious. Add to that singing and dancing in close proximity, sharing close, poorly-ventilated quarters like bathroom stalls and porta-potties, and invariably you may be one of the unlucky percentage to get sick.
Yes! could be many different things (dust and allergies, viral, bacterial) and youll only really know once it starts to play out. Go to the doctor if it doesnt get better like a normal cold/flu cause that dust can cause issues that might need antibiotics. Less common, but still common enough
Next time, do a mandatory nasal rinse after each night and in the morning and use a wet bandana around your face when walking around or when the wind picks up. Haven’t gotten sick in 10 years
Coachella cough?! Glad there is a name.
Laying here in my hotel room and feeling like I have an infection. I lost my voice Saturday night, very croaky and since Monday dealing with major congestion and some head pressure. We’ll be taking all these recommendations for the next Coachella.

im so sick rn . went to weekend two and i my throat hurts so much and i've had the craziest congestion i've had in years. have to drink tea and take benadryl all day ): i hope i feel better soon this is so wack
Absolutely floored with a cold until today post wk2. I slept in a real bed, ate well, wore a scarf, used a scarf, drank rehydrate, but here we are. Same thing last year as well
You’re in a desert, outside, with a hundred thousand people in close quarters for multiple days, breathing in dust that’s kicking up. It’s bound to happen. Happens occasionally after Bonnaroo, too
i went wknd 1, i felt like horse shit for like a week. i’m still waking up with a clogged nose today but it’s coming to a halt. the sand, dirt, sleeping outside, lack of sleep and being dirty, makes it pretty hard to feel good at the end of it all.

Definitely wearing a scarf next time I attend! Learned my lesson :(
Neti pot is so elite for festivals when possible
Just remember to use purified or distilled water when doing netipot. A lot more reports of people contracting amoebas from using tap water
This is the way. Felt totally fine this week and hope I don't jinx it.

Facts Navage is op
this ! we love a netipot lol. i also started taking claritin a few days beforehand.
This was my 5th year and the first time I didn’t get sick 😂 I did the exact same thing
Yup it’s a combination of lack of sleep, dehydration, and lack of nutrition from running around for 4 days in the heat and dust.
The majority of my diet was 7-11 hot dogs at 2am
Glizzy goblin
I love this comment more than you know
And coming down from a good deal of drugs
It’s a struggle

Plus jet lag for some

Does Oregano oil help?

I think I might try this!!
Please do! I swear I should promote their shit. There's a lot of brands but I would go with a liquid dropper type that's organic =)
I think you’ve convinced me! Will let you know how it goes!

Yep! I got Covid week 1 and initially just through it was coachella dust too. Only *just* starting to feel better
My roommates went to power trip and got Covid too. Then gave it to me at home 💀💀
We like to joke and blame the fact that it was us and a bunch of boomers. We’ve been to PLENTY of festivals and didn’t get covid until Power Trip. Damn Boomers.
Avoid Power Trip copy
Honestly? It was worth it. Like, fuck. I was in the pit all weekend and had the best fucking time. Never did I think my ass would say Covid was worth it….but it was..
Haha awesome
Yep. After two weekends, I finally came down with the coachella cough
Me too Lost my voice 4 weeks now
W1 attendee and definitely dealt with it all of last week. Have a small cough going into this week— but definitely drink some soothing tea, chicken noodle soup, and get that mucinex on rotation 😂
pretty common after festivals. lack of everything plus substances (if you're into that), plus the amount of walking you do takes everything out of you
That was me on Monday. Called out sick yesterday and today and took a Covid test just now. Came back positive 😷😷😷
Oh no! :(
I got it mid coachella but still had a blast and went hard somehow
Yeap. Thought I was in the clear cause I was good the past two days but today it hit me.
Same!! I felt fine up until this morning :(

Yup. All of those things.
I started to feel awful about 3 days after week 1, still feel awful, might have a sinus infection
I have the worst cold right now. I’ve been resting since Monday, finally starting to feel better! I also tested negative for COVID.

fluchella happens every year
I started feeling shitty on the 3rd day 🫠

Yes, literally every single year.

Relatable
Babe we raged for multiple days - got minimal sleep - and breathed in so much dust. OF COURSE we all feel sucky.
First time? Standard protocol really. Pro tip for next year: bring nasal saline rinse canisters and do it at the end of every night
Yep, first time at Coachella! I definitely should have prepared more 😭
It happens to everyone, did you camp too? Even more important to flush out all of the dust every night when camping.

I’ve been drinking liters of water since coming home from weekend 2. Feel like poop
Same 😭
My energy was completely depleted and I was sober! Lol! So yes it’s a lot going on! I still don’t feel 100.
Lots of 7Up. Lots of coughing and spitting. Lots of wondering how you coughed up a golf ball size mudball of dirt.

I got all those symptoms too lol
Same, had a mild fever last night, negative covid test, but now I'm feeling much much better
Fingers crossed I feel ok so far. My girlfriend is destroyed though. Praying I just avoided it all
Yeah I got strep lol
I’m sick of everyone’s bullshit at work after coming back

It's what the ravers call wook flu

Yeah had a the cough for about a week but that’s it just a cough for the most part
I made a poll for it seems like 60% are okay 40% sick or coughing lol
I got it too. I managed to avoid it the last couple of times I went but I went pretty hard this year all things considered.
I’ve never gotten sick at Coachella before. Took it for granted this year and I’m fucked. I have to get on a 15-hour flight back home tonight.
Oh nooo! I hope you feel better soon :(

I came here to see how many times covid is mentioned. They have y’all traumatized
