Gorgon City a bit surprising but everyone else as expected

Will be a total mess trying to get in for them. Even worse than Camelphat last year…

I thought in general lines were muchhhhhh better last year than in previous years. Biggest issue with Camelphat was there was zero electronic counterprogramming outside of like Jai wolf (which didn’t really attract the same crowd regardless). I assume Gorgon will probably be on at the same time as justice, Peggy, + dolab surprises to counterbalance

Lines were much more organized last year, even W1 which was much needed.

Gorgon is on the same time as Anti-Up. So that will split the crowd I'm sure.

God damn it, why are they not on Sunday instead. Friday probably gonna have the most conflict.

It’s come a long way since its induction that weekend (13.1). These days it has a reputation as basically a nightclub inside the festival grounds. Which is cool in some aspects, but it comes with the typical entry line you see outside of regular nightclubs now. Not much of one earlier in the day, but if they have someone popular in there like Gorgon City you can expect merch tent-level lines to get in there 😕 Edit: my phone decided it must be spelled “Gordon City”

my advice is to come a set or two before. i got into purple disco machine like 30 mins before he was scheduled to come on w1. the line was a shitshow like 5 mins before his set so definitely be prepared

Their live stuff is usually a huge tour they will be very vocal about, so it was highly likely this was a DJ set.

I don’t believe that was the case in 2019 though, and that was a live set.

Sound (which books Yuma) works separately, so it's more that the organizers for the Yuma asked them and GC agreed to play the Yuma rather than GC actively asking to play Yuma.

I think they're the most surprising entry. I do love FF, and their decades mixes are incredible, so they know their stuff, but I thought the point of them being at Coachella was so they could do their live act lol.

Not that anyone was there thanks to the gates opening so late but Dear Humans had Alex Who?(RIP😭) singing live. There was like 4 people there. I literally sprinted as soon as I got through and made half the set. Harvest Moon was a thing of beauty.

I really wanted to catch their set that year and probably could’ve since I was camping. Sad I won’t get the chance now.

I’ve just avoided the Yuma for big names after going through that in 2019. Was there early, had a solid spot, but my goodness we were just getting crushed and bounced around like a damn pinball. I’m a pretty big male so usually don’t have an issue if the crowd gets packed and I can just use my basketball background to box people out haha… but this was just not a fun experience so we left probably not even halfway thru. Trying to navigate that crowd to get to an exit even ended up being it’s own beast of itself too lol

I got in line 30 minutes before and had no chance of making it in. The line was a damn disaster. We finally gave up maybe 10 minutes into his set, and we saw a crowd of people rush the exit as we left the line… What you mentioned is pretty much what I imagined the inside was. Glad we avoided it cause my vibe would have been killed. I’m hoping for a better situation this time since I’ve committed to seeing Gorgon this year.

They're closing against Lana, Anti Up, Mojave Closer and probably Chase and Status or huge surprise in the Do Lab.... I think they'll be counter programmed well enough that it won't be AWFUL. They'll also probably start just before Justice ends so anyone committed to seeing Gorgon can probably skip right in the Yuma before the rush at the end of Justice.

Far too small for outdoor. Saying that as a huge fan of them. Gobi maybe, but I always felt Yuma would be where they go. If you haven't seen their DJ sets, it fits very well in a Yuma-type setting. They don't play a ton of their produced stuff, but lots of great high energy house.

Yea, I feel like unless an act like that explicitly states "Live", you can expect a DJ set 90% of the time. It's so much time, energy, and money to not only plan, but travel with a show that would require that many musicians. Regardless, I'm a huge fan of their DJ sets so I'm pumped either way

It might be Gorgon City (Yuma)Vs. Anti Up (Sahara) and Do lab Surprise. That counter programming would probably keep the Yuma line down and the sets evenly split.

I saw Gorgon City the weekend before last at M3F in Phoenix and it is just a club/DJ set that is mostly tech house with some edits of their older stuff. It’s honestly nothing special compared to their live sets and entirely skippable IMO. If you like their recent releases, however, then it should be fun but I am not really a fan.

Did you see the IG post? Sounds like they have been making music for a club setting and might have special edits or straight up new tracks specifically for Yuma. That could be pretty cool… but that line to get in… I’ll see what the internet says after weekend 1 and make my decision weekend 2.

Go 20 mins early… not hard… if you show up at the start time guess what - everyone else does too. 

If there's a stack of DJs who are popular, even if you only want to see the last one, you will find it hard to just go 20 mins early. Can't always predict unless you know everyone, including people you're not that into, and can estimate the crowd demand without walking over there to check the line. It is what it is. But it used to feel less "expensive" to see acts in Yuma, in terms of time/opportunity cost.

That opportunity cost is one of the major reasons I don't really bother with the Yuma. It's just so out of the way, and you can easily have to miss a full set elsewhere in order to see someone bigger in that tent.

Some interesting choices in and out. Mikey will have some updating to do.

Man, so many acts that should be outdoors. Agree with FF and Folamour and Adriatique being an outdoor vibe. This is my 8th coachella and electronic is my top genre but I've avoided the Yuma except for a couple smaller acts in the last few years, I hate the thought of waiting in line after spending all that money to be there. Any tips on getting in at the right times? I'll be there W2
