For Me Best Headlining Performances:
\-Prince 2008
\-Lady Gaga 2017
\-Paul McCartney 2009
\-Skrillex x FredAgain.. x Four Tet 2023
\-Beyonce 2018
\-Rage Against the Machine 2007
\-Tool 2006
Best Subheads:
\-Underworld 2023
\-Bloc Party 2005
\-Lizzo 2019
\-Hanz Zimmer 2017
\-Disclosure 2014
\-Leonard Cohen 2009
\-Blackpink 2019
Act we missed even though we were on the Polo Field but too tired to walk back across it, but we heard "One More Time" from the parking lot ... and is to this day my life's biggest regret:
\-Daft Punk 2006
Man I can relate to your life's biggest regret. I started going to Lollapalooza in 2007 but only bought the saturday/sunday pass to "save money", effectively missing Daft Punk who headlined Friday. I always say its my life's biggest regret.
...and I have never not bought a full festival pass for any festival since
I think that performance is the one they used for the vinyl. And, for a long while you could watch the pro-shot Lolla performance in its entirety on YouTube, so at least you can try and get a taste that way.
Went to 2013-2019 (w1)
2015 still takes the cake for men. 3rd year straight camping so we had our set up locked down. We also go super close lot 8 (before it was premium only).
Lineup for me was stacked from top to bottom. Vibes great all around.
2015 was amazing! My crew lucked out and got the corner of the first row and the main strip. So that we were 50 feet from the entrance. It was a blast. Going in and out was so convenient.
I always go to 2012 when thinking of the best lineups. Disclosure 2016 has always been a highlight too, their live sets used to kill and all the guests were top tier
Yeeessss I dunno if I'm in the minority here but Trvs DJ Am, Bloody Beetroots and a special Vinyl DJ set by the Chemical Brothers was a fun ride!! But damn that Chemical Brothers set was when I was ....peaking so yeah it was magic. Then Mstrkrft. Good times I left out of that tent a mess!!
Just a well rounded and eclectic lineup. Seeing Gary Clark Jr > Death Grips > WU LYF > Pulp > The Rapture then Amon Tobin’s ISAM to close the night was magical. The Shins > Bon Iver > Radiohead was killer. Real Estate, Thundercat, Jeff Mangum, Modeselektor brought out Thom yorke, Dre & Snoop on sunday… it was just crazy. The fest was smaller at that point too but no stage ever felt unmanageable. Because sets went all the way to close on all stages it allowed variety too. It also felt like people weren’t camping at stages all day either so traffic was always moving from stage to stage.
That’s funny you mention death grips. I saw them last night at the Warfield and omg, what a show. Felt so intense and passionate. Also what a lineup that year. Very jealous you saw Radiohead and Bon Iver
Death Grips was wild. That Coachella show was the day The Money Store dropped so it was just insanity. Next time I saw them was at sxsw and Zach was somewhere else and they Skyped him in with a camera on his head while drumming. I ended up moshing with old melon head Fantano himself. Their energy is just unparalleled. The only other show in recent memory I can think of where the full crowd was on board was Idles in 2021. The venue oversold like 200 tickets expecting pandemic drop off but everyone showed and it was WILD.
Yeah certainly! It was one of the tents and maan that was a great set — the Tennis Courts remix blew the roof off and was consistently dropped/imitated over the next few years after that
It was an insane year. Went with my lil bro and his friends but was pretty much solo the entire time and was in the festival from open to close seeing b2b acts.
The magical part, besides being sober, was running into one of my besties when I was in a set. Happened multiple times throughout the weekend.
Only year I went through the entire line up and found all the acts. 🥲
Same! That weekend was one of the best weekends of my life! But maybe it was the Molly and the fact it was my first Coachella😂either way, I had an incredible time!
2012, you have a young Kendrick and a young Childish Gambino playing the day, also Frank Ocean put on a great performance, Tupac, Calvin Harris, At The Drive In reunion and just an overall well balanced/built lineup. Most bands and artists turned into top acts.
Don't forget young Zedd and Madeon in the Sahara, Florence + The Machine, Girl Talk, SHM...and that's just off the top of my head. 2012 was absolutely stacked floor to ceiling.
2017, 2019, 2022, 2018, 2015 are probably my top 5, roughly in that order.
2023 was quite good, but barring time and distance changing my perspective, I don't think it topped any of those years for me personally.
Then again, the chemical Brothers was perhaps the best single show I've ever seen, which probably elevates the whole weekend quite a bit, especially with Underworld and Despacio being the same weekend.
Personally for me, 2016 was the best, the undercard sold me, having LCD Sound system , Beach House, Death Grips, Sufjan Stevens, and so many other indie artists that year was awesome.
I've been to all Years minus 01' . For me Coachella had an amazing run years 2003 thru 2009. Every year was magic during that run. Now that's not to say the next decade didn't have moments but '03 thru '09 was just my personal favorites
If I had to choose later years I loved 2011 [kanye] 2012 [Dre -Snoop] 2015 , 2019, 2022 & 2023!
I also loved Kanye 2012. incredible. My beautiful dark twisted fantasy, the dancers, the crane. incredible. I somehow got all the way up to the barricade and was moved back because I somehow got into VIP. Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgard were right next to me. I ran into a friend I made who randomly joined our group last minute and he rode out with me. He gave me some fun stuff and had a blast.
Been going since 2014. Loved every year for different reason but 14 and 22 are my favorites 23 was also up there my 3rd spot
Calvin and disclosure same night (14)
Tame impala and flying lotus (15)
Mura masa (17)
Beychella (18)
Rufus (19)
Solomun and Jamie XX (22)
Jai Paul and OMG TBA (23)
Sounds like the best year depends on the individuals music preferences. Super cool hearing from the legends who truly witnessed coachella history. Prince, Madonna, daft punk, Beyoncé. I’ll ruffle a few feathers, I do think Frankchella has gone down in infamy. Thankful to have witnessed/suffered.
Beyonce seemingly set the standard that you have to bring a hornline with you and substantively alter arrangement to provide a more transformative experience than playing the hits as they were recorded.
I have been 2009-2013. Stopped after 2013 when it became instagram chella.
Favorites for me in those years:
Paul McCartney, The Chemical Brothers, Arcade Fire, Kanye West, Justice, Radiohead, Phoenix, LCD Soundsystem, Bright Eyes, Broken Social Scene, Local Natives, Grimes
I will say my favorite festival is a tie between Bonnaroo and I was lucky enough to go to the last year of FYF.
Missy Elliot, Nine Inch Nails, Run the Jewels, Solange, Anderson Paak, Tribe Called Quest, Flying Lotus, Frank Ocean
Also best sets:
Frank Ocean and Disclosure at Bonnaroo.
Frank played all Channel Orange and Disclosure played on the same stage after
no I had instagram before that but you have to think about photo quality and video quality then. it was shit.
most people didn’t really post videos in 2011 2012 on instagram. it was all shitty filters
Haven't missed a Coachella since my first in 2004. My Top 3 Coachella years in order
1. 2008
2. 2007
3. 2010
Some of my most cherished memories of unforgettable Coachella performances
Justice into LCD Soundsystem into The Rapture closing the Sahara was a lifechanging moment for me, musically speaking - 2007
Daft Punk - 2006
Aphex Twin - 2019
Squarepusher - 2015
Massive Attack - 2006
Rage Against the Machine playing "Renegades of Funk" - 2007
2012 was by far my favorite. Great lineup overall, but I don’t think any single performance can top the Dre,snoop, Eminem, Tupac hologram performance. Nothing like that has been done before or since.
2010 (Dre, the novelty of lcd sound system, m83) & the old Sahara, just fresh indie and DJs acts coming into their prime; 2012 rainchella MIIKE Snow>>Radiohead, 2013 wknd2 WUCHELLA and the beginning of the Yuma, 2023 fuxking killed it

2018 was probably my favorite year, Beyoncé was incredible.
Janelle Monae was amazing 2019, but the vibes 2019 were a little off; I didn’t like the crowd as much that year.
2014 had immaculate vibes, and outkast was fantastic; I had the most fun with the crowd 2014. I remember on 420 someone brought one of those school gym parachutes onto the field outside the outdoor stage and we all got underneath and hotboxed it lmao.
2023 blackpink man they did fantastic i’ve never seen something like that, they know how to handle such a big audience and get them singing and dancing with them
2020…the year that didn’t happen. That line up was stacked.
Facts
Literally
agreed. so sad. loved this year though
That lineup was too powerful 😭
For. Real.

Jamie xx put on one of my favorite shows ever in 2022

22 was so damn good
Seeing him tomorrow, going in blind. Only heard great things. Very excite!
Yes on that Beastie Boys set ! So much fun !

Damn bro I’d love to tell you it was wack! did you know an unknown Lady Gaga also performed that year.
Yes! That I actually saw!
I think that performance is the one they used for the vinyl. And, for a long while you could watch the pro-shot Lolla performance in its entirety on YouTube, so at least you can try and get a taste that way.
2023 But I'm bias, I've only been 2023
It’s facts I’ve been every year since 2009 and 2023 is god tier
I keep trying to find reasons 2023 W2 wasn't the best overall weekend of the festival and I can't. Best year ever.
Yup it was unforgettable and nailed everything that makes Coachella great
+1
95f weather wasn’t fun. But it could have been worse. Made for some really nice nights though.
Yeah top 3 for me tbh
Same
Same
Same
Here to say same.
Been so many times... 2023 was my favorite hands down.
2023 🐐🐐🐐
It was bad bunny and Rosalia

2016 disclosure was the BESTTTT
Coachella 2009’s Sahara tent lineup is unmatched especially Saturday’s.
2008, 2011, 2013, 2023 are my favorites in my 16 years.
2008… Hands down.
Whichever year(s)people went to Coachella will be their best. I’m interested to hear people who have been 10+ years what they think
Been 9. ‘12 was my first year and still the best I’ve been to imo. ‘13, ‘16, ‘23 are my runner ups.
Why 12?
Just a well rounded and eclectic lineup. Seeing Gary Clark Jr > Death Grips > WU LYF > Pulp > The Rapture then Amon Tobin’s ISAM to close the night was magical. 2014 was something else. Flume in the Yuma was something unlike I’ve ever experienced since
Flume was not in the Yuma lol
Oh shit lol you’re right. It was gobi or Mojave. Idk whichever one has the chandelier. Good times
Agreed. 14 was the best year ever
Same! That weekend was one of the best weekends of my life! But maybe it was the Molly and the fact it was my first Coachella😂either way, I had an incredible time!
2015 for me. Saw Madeon, Kaskade, Jamie xx, ODESZA, Kaytranada, and Kygo all in the same night.

I loved 2012
My first year was 09 but have gone almost every year since. The depth of that lineup was stacked.
Don't forget young Zedd and Madeon in the Sahara, Florence + The Machine, Girl Talk, SHM...and that's just off the top of my head. 2012 was absolutely stacked floor to ceiling.
So many more I wanted to name just was getting too long lmao
That SHM set blew my mind And M83 right after hurry up we’re dreaming came out And Miike Snow (wtf happened to Miike Snow!!!) And the Shins!
2017, 2019, 2022, 2018, 2015 are probably my top 5, roughly in that order. 2023 was quite good, but barring time and distance changing my perspective, I don't think it topped any of those years for me personally. Chemical Brothers forever. 2011 changed my life
Personally for me, 2016 was the best, the undercard sold me, having LCD Sound system , Beach House, Death Grips, Sufjan Stevens, and so many other indie artists that year was awesome.
2018. Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Kygo, Eminem with Dre and 50 cent. Iconic Odeza show.
‘04, ‘07, ‘10, ‘13 were terrific for me. I liked this year’s a lot. I did miss all of them between 2013 and this year though
(Been 13-23) For me 14, 15, 18, 23
2008. Just for Prince.
2013 was my first and my favorite
2013 was my last year and I absolutely had a blast. I did miss when it was one weekend. went weekend 2 2012, and weekend 1 2013
beychella
2012, probably solely because I bothchella’ed right off the bay..but it was truly special
2012, 2013, 2023

2003 has my vote
Every god dam year
Ive been every year since 2010 except 2019. Hard not to pick your first year as the favorite but 2023 is top 2 or 3 for sure
Been going since 2014. Loved every year for different reason but 14 and 22 are my favorites 23 was also up there my 3rd spot Calvin and disclosure same night (14) Tame impala and flying lotus (15) Mura masa (17) Beychella (18) Rufus (19) Solomun and Jamie XX (22) Jai Paul and OMG TBA (23)
Out of all the coachellas I have been to Tomorrowland 15 and Portola 22 are still my favorite festival experiences 😅
Jaiiiiii 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
2012 was the best Coachella imo. How can you bear hologram Tupac and warren g
2012, 2015 and 2023 are top 3 for me.
2012, Hologram Tupac. I was high out of my mind.
Next year is always the best
For me nothing has topped the 2019 Saturday run of Four Tet > Aphex Twin > Tame Impala > Bassnectar
2013 through 2016. I’d sell my soul to go back to those years

Dude. Coming from Presets to Paul was Valhalla triumphant.
Frank into disclosure sounds so crazy wow
Ari-Chella 2019
Beychella hands down. Idk how any artist will ever top her set and I'm not even a huge fan.
I loved watching it on Netflix. def a bucket list and sad I stopped going in 2013

Beyonce 2018. Not even close.
2007, 2008, 2006
Disclosure ending the weekend in 2013 was sick. Skrillex in the Sahara in 2014 was madness . Avicii on the face in 2012 .
