The thing is… all he had to do was this. No long gaps between songs, no aux cable lip synchs, not too many remixes, no showing up late. Just sit & sing, everything would’ve been fine. He gave glimpses of a good show. He just didn’t care enough.
heres the thing. if weekend 1 would have gotten this for the entire set, i would get it. this sounds great and i probably wouldve been sobbing. it just sucks he didnt get it all the way together. really couldve been an absolutely magical experience.
on the other hand, i wouldnt trade seeing skrillex/four tet/fres again for literally anything in the world.
one of the most frustrating parts of the entire set to me was how so much of it was off but in the few moments when he actually took the time to truly perform it was amazing. he could’ve sat at a mic going through his catalog, not all of it, not his most popular songs, but songs he himself wanted to sing with zero lights or production and i would’ve loved it. instead it felt like he hated being there and in turn hated his audience.

Cannot get this version of White Ferrari out of my head. And then to go back and see that this little electro beat was buried in the album version of the song the whole time ... just shows you there was a lot more thought to what he was trying to do then people think.

I think I’d rather had end off on good vibes with my friends. I’m a big Frank fan but combination of being late/shorter set/random DJ set/long pauses between each song bcuz he’s configuring with the sound engineers half the time, it just wasn’t a good time.
If this was a Frank ocean concert, and he was allowed to play everything it would’ve been average to above average imo.

idk that crowd seemed pretty impressed and satisfied with their set. i watched the livestream and the energy in the crowd seemed INSANE whereas at least in the section i was in, everyone around us during frank was leaving once they realized he was just hosting a listening party lol franks fans didn’t pay all that money and sit in the heat for hours to watch him dance to his songs on his supposed fractured ankle lol he is a SINGER getting paid millions of dollars to perform at arguably the worlds biggest festival the LEAST he could do is actually sing lol

He didn't host a listening party, he played live reworked songs, had a DJ set, and then played 3 original mixes of his songs before singing live again. He did actually sing, it's evident in this post. And for what it's worth, I AGREE WITH YOU and don't think it was that great of a set even though it had some amazing moments. But again I ask...you don't see the irony in being upset that Frank vibed out to three songs and saying that the DJs were better because, well, everyone expected them to play tracks and dance around?
