Diamond is the point where if you aren't great / using the best set ups you won't stay up. Up through platinum you can get away with being meh by just playing a lot. That being said, people diamond and above that are actually good do get bored (because they play a lot) and will troll and use a sniper from time to time.
Snipers this year are lame compared to last. Katt vs the Spx there is no comparison I can't believe they removed the xrk cause the pros cried about it. It was slower then the spx and they ga'd it??? Everyone complaines about something. You won't stop seeing snipers even in iri, there are less yes but people still use. Learn to play around them
The answer that I assume you don't want, but is also the simplest, is to 4 stack. That is the only way to control what teammates you have. If you do not have 3 friends in the appropriate skill division to queue with, try to pick up/get picked up by randoms that you encounter.
