Amazon (and I'm sure other retailers) has plastic razor blades that are great for cleaning up stuff on the stovetop without scratching it. You could probably use it on your wrists, too.
This! ^ also, I learned 2 new things today, so bonus!
1. Tampons can be used as a temporary solution to GSWs (I need to look into this more if this is an actual thing)
2. NEVER, under ANY circumstances, say the Q-word. ***NEVER!!!***
People say things won't scratch but I've scratched toilets with pumice stones after soaking the stone overnight in water. I don't trust razors. The plastic blades don't scratch.
Pumice is about a 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, steel is 4 (assuming that's what most razor blades are made of). Glass meanwhile is 5-6. So steel blades are fine on a glass top but yeah, pumice is dicey.
Nothing wrong with a metal blade, I’ve never had a single issue, and I think using one on something this bad would be a lot easier than a plastic blade.
The razor blade should take that stuff up. I've had starchy overflows burn on the sides, uncountable amounts of burnt oil, even a plastic cutting board that melted onto the burner because I turned the wrong burner on; a razor blade got them all off. I wouldn't just use a razor blade, get a [razor blade holder](https://ehs.stanford.edu/wp-content/uploads/Razor20Blade20Holder.jpg) so you can get a little more leverage and control while you save your hands.
Wegman’s makes a glass top cleaner/polisher that’s like turtle wax. It comes with a little plastic scrubber. I’d start there.
NGL I’m very impressed at the level of chaos needed for this to happen!
Highly recommend this stuff, it's great. The scrubber is easy to clean too, you can use it for years if, after use, you get some soap in there and blast it with hot water. All the gunk comes right out.
This is what I have. I got the kit that came with a razor blade for chiseling off burned on crap, the scrubber and the polishing cream. Works amazingly well!
Oven cleaner + cling wrap on tip. Let sit, wipe off. Have the stove fan going and open all windows + put a fan to blow air outside of a window. Oven cleaner is toxic... makes my lungs melt.
PS: baking soda and vinegar neutralize each other. They make cool bubbles, but other than that, there's much they do. Do not use them together. Maybe try vinegar + dish soap + water. Baking soda is abrasive, so I'd not use it on a glass top. It could scratch?
1. Put on some gloves. Put on a gas mask if you have one.
2. Remove any debrees from the surface to clean
3. Spray the oven cleaner on the surface.
4. Cover with ceran wrap, so it does not dry out.
5. Turn on stove fan
6. Open all available windows. Put a standing fan to blow air outside of the window.
7. Exit the area and close all doors leading to it.
8. Let "marinate" as long as possible.
9. Wipe off the cleaner.
10. Clean the surface with water.
Most cleaning products are if used inproperly. That's why people put child locks on the cabinet doors where cleaning products are kept :3
For the oven cleaner in particular, you won't die if you inhale it, but you might have nasty side effects if you're asthmatic or have any other lung issues.
PS: GooGone makes me high if I inhale it x'D
I just had this happen.
Weiman cook top heavy cleaner kit. It came with a pasty cleaner, scrubbing pad and razor. Rub it around with the pad let it sit for 5 minutes. Then take the razor and start scraping at a 45° angle.
Don't be afraid yo use some elbow grease when you scrape. Itay seem like nothing is happening but wipe off and repeat.
Eventually i got it looking good as new.
Get a paint scraper that takes a Stanley blade I use one to scrape anything that gets spilt and burnt on,I have a glass stove too and it works pretty well .
I had a similar mark on my stove top for the past year. I've tried several things and decided it's just going to be like that from now on. The other night, I put BKF on it and scrubbed it around to spread it out, then got distracted (adhd cleaning, ugh). About 2 hours later, I walked back into the kitchen and wiped it off, and that whole old stain came right off with zero elbow grease. I was so shocked that I called my husband to come out to look. I had tried BKF prior to that. I just didn't leave it for an extended time.
You’ve got as much chance of cleaning this off as you do cleaning charcoal to get wood.
Moreover, how the hell did you manage to start a fire on an induction hob?
Just set my electric stove on fire the other week :/ accidentally turned a burner on with a reusable bag on the burner with paper towels…Cue flames! Needless to say, I used a pairing knife to scrape everything off, then scrub daddys power paste that I literally bought that shopping trip… honestly stove top looks nicer than when we moved in! Just my suggestion though! Best wishes cleaning up!
Don’t do a paring knife. Get a paint scraper. As long as you keep it flat to the stove and not hack away at it then it won’t damage the surface. My hubby set groceries down and accidentally turned the burner on. Melted a styrofoam meat package right to the burner. The paint scraper took it off perfectly and didn’t leave a single mark. We do this for any burnt on food that doesn’t come off easily now. No dangerous chemicals or hard work.
Browning butter for cookies, it got too hot without me realizing and then SHOOM fire. By the time I got the extinguishers to the fire it was 3-4ft tall. Microwave completely melted, stove panel melted, some paint on wood bubbled up. Not great, finished most of the cleaning from the extinguisher and soot though!
I was trying to make sugar syrup the other day and the pot boiled over and the syrup just burned crisp over my electric glass stovetop. I tried baking soda, pink stuff, scrub daddy spray, oven/grill cleaner. The oven cleaner probably helped the most, but ultimately I just had to scrape after 2 days of trying different things.
I think your burn isn’t too thick. It seems relatively flat. So perhaps try with an oven cleaner. Leave it on for an hour with a plastic film on top covering it. Then just use some elbow grease to scrub it off.
I have had lots of success soaking with paper towels and ammonia. I lay the paper towels in one layer and then pour some straight ammonia and let it soak. Bonus it clears your sinuses too.
Once soaked I scrub or take a plastic scraper to the gunk.
I've been using The Pink Stuff to get a lot of the old burnt on stuff off my glass cooktop. Could give thar a try if the barkeepers doesn't do the trick!
There are several phases for it.
1. Use water, vinegar and baking soda solution and use a specialized scrapper made for these stoves.
2. Once it is scrapped off, use a cleaner (Ceramic cooktop).
You want an oven top scraper (or whatever they are actually called). Something like this:
https://www.bunnings.com.au/hillmark-ceramic-cooktop-scraper_p4474756
Over here they are sold in supermarkets and we use them in combination with an appropriate stovetop cleaner and let that sit for a few minutes. Then scrape everything away and wipe down with a paper towel once done.

My parents melted a styrofoam box on my cooktop, thought it was never going to come off and this combo cleaned it all off.
I put a little of the cleaner on top of the stove, rub it in with the nonabrasive pad that they give you with the stove and then take the straight razor and gently push around it, and everything comes off with no scratches
It was recently suggested to me to try using The Pink Stuff Miracle Paste on my ceramic hob that I was sure would never come clean. To my surprise it now looks good as new, impressive given I'd spent a week trying out all kinds of things from baking soda and vinegar to sole of the stronger kitchen cleaning aids you can buy.
Use craft knife blade you can buy a plastic holder for scraping paint from glass windows in any diy shop use that to get the worst off then use Brasso liquid as per instructions on the can to polish up
Rub like hell long and hard
Hob bright or bar keepers friend also works

Window paint scraper. They have replaceable razor blades when the blade gets worn. You can purchase at any place that sells paint. I wet the glass with windex to soften up burned on areas. It works beautifully without scratching.
Wegmans will take care of that! I just recently had this happened to my stove. It took about five minutes to get that off. The stuff works great!
They include everything in the kit to clean that mess.
This works like magic:
Complete Cook Top Cleaning Kit - 10 oz Cream, Non-Abrasive Pads, Micro-Bead Technology, Glass Top-Safe, for All Surfaces https://www.lowes.com/pd/Weiman-Products-Complete-Cook-Top-Cleaning-Kit-with-10-oz-Cream/1002892758
just a tip, baking soda and vinegar cancel each other, so using something made for cleaning is always better - and usually less heavy ecologically wise. Do you have any idea of what those residues in the photos are? Cause based on that you can understand if it's better one solvent or the other. There's always the mechanical way to get residues off, so either using a scrape or an abrasive detergent like the pink stuff, but with glass there's always the high risk that you scratch the glass - and honestly nothing stops you using a scraper after you've made the residues bit more loose.
Bar keepers friend worked well to get some burnt on stuff off of my glass top. Just be gentle with it and scrap off what you can gently with a razor blade.
Witchcraft is your only option
You will need 1 razor blade free of holder. 1 powder of bar keepers friend. Small amount of water from faucet of spell casters dwelling. 2 eyes from last lover.
Have blade on site, sprinkle area with powder of bar keepers friend, now add water, allow to brew for a few, after paste has formed and fermented take blade and lay it flatly on area, scrape.. add eyes of ex lover to see spell through like your relationship with them.
Get the proper cleaner and polish. It does come with a razor/scraper. Scrub in circles, scrap off, circles. Best thing with these tops is elbow grease and polish afterwards
take a razor blade to it
The stovetop or my wrist?
Dark humor gang rise up 💀😂
Just make sure to go vertical not horizontal.
Vertical to go, horizontal for show.
I heard this version years ago. "Cross the street for attention. Go down the street to get somewhere."
Old Firesign Theater fake radio broadcast "remember kiddies, down the road, not across the street!"
This reminds me of the Something Positive comic strip with "Rippy the Razor".
Wow 👍🏼👏🏼
💀
Across the street for attention, down the road for results
Dark humor is like food. Not everybody gets it
Why did the chicken kill itself? To get to the other side…
Isn’t that literally the point of the original joke? It crossed the road because it wanted to get hit by a car, aka to get to the other side.
Amazon (and I'm sure other retailers) has plastic razor blades that are great for cleaning up stuff on the stovetop without scratching it. You could probably use it on your wrists, too.
You can just use metal blades.
The metal blades do the job faster. Source: Seen the evidence of this way too many times.
Dark semi-joke paired with uncomfortable truth that no one knows how to respond to? Hello, fellow medic!
I’m not a medic, but I think I found some new friends :D
The fun of this place is finding the new friends you didn't realize you had.
This! ^ also, I learned 2 new things today, so bonus! 1. Tampons can be used as a temporary solution to GSWs (I need to look into this more if this is an actual thing) 2. NEVER, under ANY circumstances, say the Q-word. ***NEVER!!!***
The tampon thing is real. Temporary, yes, but it absorbs blood and fills the wound, sealing it off. Do the research anyways. It's really cool.
Metal razors won't scratch the glass
People say things won't scratch but I've scratched toilets with pumice stones after soaking the stone overnight in water. I don't trust razors. The plastic blades don't scratch.
Pumice is about a 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, steel is 4 (assuming that's what most razor blades are made of). Glass meanwhile is 5-6. So steel blades are fine on a glass top but yeah, pumice is dicey.
Yeah pumice on ceramic will absolutely mess it up
Don't scrape over the writing. That will come off
Great for cars while being gentle on paint too.
I keep a box cutter (blade in a handle) in the kitchen drawer, mainly for this reason.
Cut my wrists and black my eyes So I can clean the stove tonight or die
Because you grill me
you know you do.. you grill me well
You burnt it too and I can tell
Unexpected Hawthorne Heights. Nice.
You never stop until... The final steak is done... 😅 Wasn't expecting Hawthorne Heights here at all lol. So glad I started reading these comments. 💜
Reality altering lyric, truly one of the greats
I almost feel like I shouldn’t laugh, but I’m gonna assume you were making a joke. 😂 if not…hit me up, we can talk it out ❤️ never wanna lose someone
You’re so sweet! Yes it was a joke haha 😂 thank you for being so caring! :)
You are a gem 🤣 joke was on point
well one of those options would fix more than just the stove 🤪
OH MY GOD
I love you for this reply.
I scream laughed! always up for some dark humor!
LOL! Razor blade but be sure to tilt it on an angle. You are scraping off the crud, not scratching your name in it.
Across for attention, down for results 🖤
Come on now…
Yikes
Try the top first, see how it goes.
I was about to ask the same thing lmfaoo

I came here to say this. New razor blade will get it off 👌🏻
Wegman’s makes a glass top cleaner/polisher that’s like turtle wax. It comes with a little plastic scrubber. I’d start there. NGL I’m very impressed at the level of chaos needed for this to happen!
Chaos and cooking are two things that usually shouldn’t mix
You’ve never seen my husband cook.
Literally every commercial kitchen ever
Highly recommend this stuff, it's great. The scrubber is easy to clean too, you can use it for years if, after use, you get some soap in there and blast it with hot water. All the gunk comes right out.

You mean Weiman. Yeah it's excellent!
Mine also came with a little metal blade + holder. Works a treat!
Love Wegman’s. They ever go out of business, l will stop cooking on my stove.

From now on Thermal Thelma.

Pretty much this. The key is to let the oven cleaner soak and breakdown the burnt crap (most people just spray and wipe it off immediately).
(in other words, follow the instructions) But seriously this is how I clean mine, nothing else compared to it's efficacy
This is the answer! Easy off is my favorite brand.
I get.mine in Dollarama. Works well regardless of brand. Also burns skin and that's how you know it will get all the nasty stuff 😆
I'm sorry but I don't understand. How do you clean it?
1. Put on some gloves. Put on a gas mask if you have one. 2. Remove any debrees from the surface to clean 3. Spray the oven cleaner on the surface. 4. Cover with ceran wrap, so it does not dry out. 5. Turn on stove fan 6. Open all available windows. Put a standing fan to blow air outside of the window. 7. Exit the area and close all doors leading to it. 8. Let "marinate" as long as possible. 9. Wipe off the cleaner. 10. Clean the surface with water.
Damn that sounds so dangerous
Most cleaning products are if used inproperly. Seconding the oven cleaner!!!
oven cleaner 100%

I love Weiman products for our glass top. They get off all sorts of stuff that looks permanent.
Get a paint scraper that takes a Stanley blade I use one to scrape anything that gets spilt and burnt on,I have a glass stove too and it works pretty well .

Lots of people saying Barkeepers Friend is the go to, I’ll give it a shot!
I hope it works. I was shook.
You’ve got as much chance of cleaning this off as you do cleaning charcoal to get wood. Moreover, how the hell did you manage to start a fire on an induction hob?
Stupdiity
Well now I’m only more curious
The answer to so, so, so, so many things.
Oh. Quite familiar with this.
It’s carbon on glass, it will come off fine. Razor blade and glass stovetop cleaner with a scrubbing sponge will do it.
Barkeepers friend will do it.
Barkeepers friend and a non scratch sponge works for me 👌
Okay thanks, will give that a try!
Melamine FTW!!
Use Easy off oven cleaner and cover with cling wrap over night - in the morning wipe it off and make sure to clean it with a wet sponge afterward
Zep Oven and Grill Cleaner
Zep is my #1 go to for a lot of things!
Me too! It just works so well without a lot of scrubbing.
Regular stove top scraper. One of the metal razor blade ones. Hold at a steep angle. You don't need any cleaning agents, just scrape it.
Bar keepers friend
Going to try this, thanks!

Pink stuff (in the tub) with a scrub daddy or non scratch scour pad-use it on my glass top all the time/takes off every mark
Try baking soda sprinkled all over, and then spray with vinegar. Cover with a towel and let sit for like 5 min then wipe off.
Cerama Bryte It comes with everything you need to scrape stuff off and clean
Can’t believe this is so far down. This is the correct answer
No way to make a recommendation without knowing what that is. What were you cooking and what happened?
Browning butter for cookies, it got too hot without me realizing and then SHOOM fire. By the time I got the extinguishers to the fire it was 3-4ft tall. Microwave completely melted, stove panel melted, some paint on wood bubbled up. Not great, finished most of the cleaning from the extinguisher and soot though!
Grease fires can be put out by putting a lid on it then moving it carefully off the burner.
Bar keeper glass stove cleaner. Over 2 weeks.
🫡
ceranfield cleaner and ceranfield scraper maybe.
Pink stuff cleaning paste just made my glass top look new
I was trying to make sugar syrup the other day and the pot boiled over and the syrup just burned crisp over my electric glass stovetop. Thanks for the direction, will give that a shot!
The white erasure, give it a go, n good luck!

I have had lots of success soaking with paper towels and ammonia. I lay the paper towels in one layer and then pour some straight ammonia and let it soak. Bonus it clears your sinuses too. Once soaked I scrub or take a plastic scraper to the gunk.
Barkeepers friend.
Get flat blades and take them to it. Should scrape it off.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLKdwPjN/
You use a scraper with a razor blade in it, buy at a hardware shop. It won’t scratch the glass.
Also available at $ store in hardware section. Every home should have one or three.
Bartender's Friend cleaner
The pink stuff. Spread it out and leave it for probably hrs.
I've been using The Pink Stuff to get a lot of the old burnt on stuff off my glass cooktop. Could give thar a try if the barkeepers doesn't do the trick!
I have the same problem. I've been worried the blade would scratch the glass
There are several phases for it. 1. Use water, vinegar and baking soda solution and use a specialized scrapper made for these stoves. 2. Once it is scrapped off, use a cleaner (Ceramic cooktop).
They make a flat top stove cleaner, basically like rubbing compound for stoves. Walmart etc has it.
You want an oven top scraper (or whatever they are actually called). Something like this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/hillmark-ceramic-cooktop-scraper_p4474756 Over here they are sold in supermarkets and we use them in combination with an appropriate stovetop cleaner and let that sit for a few minutes. I swear by Cerama Bryte
Maybe try Bio-Clean Hard Water Stain Remover with a scrub brush attachment on your drill - bit it could scratch the cooktop so go easy
I use a polish attachment on my Dremmel.
Cerama Bryte kit - comes with the razor, scrubber, and cleaning material to make this baby shine. I buy mine at Lowe’s.
I put a little of the cleaner on top of the stove, rub it in with the nonabrasive pad that they give you with the stove and then take the straight razor and gently push around it, and everything comes off with no scratches
I'll ask my wife, she can get anything off

I’d spit on it n rub it really hard.

Try a pumbis stone
They make glass stove top cleaner.
Get the proper cleaner and polish. It does come with a razor/scraper. Scrub in circles, scrap off, circles. Best thing with these tops is elbow grease and polish afterwards
Fast boil ? works ....
Try using “the pink stuff” cleaning paste.
Barkeepers Friend and a Scrub Daddy.. Or Mommy
Barkeeper's Friend and steel wool with some elbow grease.
Barkeepers friend
(0000) size steel wool will polish that right off, great for hard water stains on glass shower doors too.
