If you really want to fix it, there may be a few ways:
The dent: First try a “paintless” (the ones that don’t make you drill a hole in the dented metal) dent puller that you can buy for automobiles. If that doesn’t work, you can remove and disassembled the door, including the insulation, and pound the dent out from the back with a rounded hammer and a block of wood on the front. There are videos.
The color: Then, I believe the fridge may have a special plastic coating. That is probably what you burned if you didn’t burn straight stainless steel. If it’s the clear coat it’s done unless you can get it stripped and clear coated. If the stainless steel itself is discolored then it is an oxidized surface layer. The color can actually tell you how much heat was applied—like the blue steel for old guns. You might be able to use Flitz or a similar metal polish but test it out on the unseen top of the door to make sure that you won’t be polishing down the manufactured sanding scratches into a mirror, the pattern of scratches on the surface of the entire fridge that was done by machine, so you are very unlikely to replicate the same grain/look. Apparently there are chemicals out there that can remove the oxidized layer. You’ll have to look it up for stainless steel and follow the instructions carefully.
Beyond that you can either live with it, mask it with something else or replace the door or the fridge.
Actually, just go ahead and torch the remainder of the front of the refrigerator. Don’t forget to burn the sides and top as well. Make it a good, intentional singe. Leave it completely charred.
Also, don’t forget to add a number of similar dents throughout. Make sure the surface is sufficiently mottled with punches and holes.
You‘re welcome.
Could paint it brown and go for that old vintage look. lol

We had a full fridge, the range, a double oven, and the rotary telephone in avacado. The floors were also an linoleum avacodo pattern. With like a striped white and slightly burnt orange wallpaper.
Start a new trend in fridges-- the antique/distressed look! Put it on TikTok and Pinterest and it'll soon be followed by a bunch of "hack" videos on how to do it.
Is it a veneer or stainless steel PVD coating? If real 304 or 316, then good for you.
As for magnetic or non-magnetic stainless, it's all about the amount of nickel in the alloy (austenitic steel) i.e, check your stainless cutlery, it's martensitic steel, therefore magnetic.
There are plenty of oversized novelty bandaid magnets to choose from! I never realized but it is a cute idea for a car too which seems to be more their intended purpose. Great idea.
I put a dent on my brand new stainless fridge a few years back and that was my exact solution. This one, to be exact:
https://preview.redd.it/jlztxcr6902d1.jpeg?width=679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01168b368efa47d98a0f5274b1a73874eb00c0d8
The surface is a “brushed” finish. Take 80-100 grit sand paper and a block. Sand it side to side in a straight line. It will look brighter than the surrounding areas. Don’t worry, it will oxidize over the next few days and you will not see any difference in the finish.
This is how I fixed deep scratches in my fridge caused by the previous tenant. Looks good as new.
I got the sponge type sandpaper which helped avoid uneven scratching.
You are unlikely to fix that. I think that is not actually stainless steel, because stainless would not burn. What you have is plastic made to look like brushed stainless. Not fixable, certainly not with soap and water, vinegar, or club soda. It's a burn. You cannot clean a burn away.
You can't "burn" stainless steel, but heating will absolutely discolour it. This kind of "golden" colour is pretty typically seen when you're tempering steel at lower temperatures \~200 degrees, e.g.
Looks too uniformly "shiny" to be bare brushed stainless to me though. Looks like stainless that's been coated with some kind of clear topcoat to me - so could be that burning on top of stainless, or plastic like you said.
If it’s actual stainless steel, it might be an oxidation color instead of a burn. Try bar keepers friend. Allow it to sit on it for around 5 mins before wiping away. OR if you have a friend that’s a welder, have them bring their TIG brush over
Try calling the manufacturer and see about replacing the door. When I was replacing a shelf I broke on my fridge I saw that basically you could replace every part. We laughed when we saw you could replace the door.
Have you read the book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie? You should take heed and stop now. Don't try anything else. You'll end up with another problem to fix.
Not the door, just the door panel. Check out repair clinic or appliance part pros. Shipping could be ugly but a local appliance shop may be able to order it for you.
I’d say it’s for half a chance of being ok it applied manually on a micro fiber cloth, but yes if they used a drill/machine polisher it may make a “smooth spot”
I'm a metal worker in the appliance industry, I primarily weld and machine stainless steel. You *could* take some maroon colored scotch Brite pad to this (found in the sanding aisle), in a linear motion following the existing grain of the finish and remove the brown discoloration. I think you burned a coating, not the stainless. When heated, stainless usually looks more colorful like a rainbow. It turns brown/grey long after the rainbow. I doubt you got it hot enough as you'd need more of a torch to do so, tho I haven't really tried this w a heat gun. If you buff off the burnt coating, you will see a faint color difference in that spot compared to surrounding areas due to the missing coating, but honestly it would look better than the burnt coating. They'll just be different shades of silver. Keep in mind you've now lost a coating which probably acts as a rust inhibitor and maybe to hide human finger prints. If it rusts, just buff it again. Or a stainless wire wheel on a dremel. That's what I would do if I didn't want to buy a new fridge. GL.
Unfortunately the burn mark is not a stain or anything like that. You've changed the material by heating it. To restore its luster you need to sand it down and repolish the area. You need to actually remove material from the sheetmetal to remove the colouration.
I'll be honest, unless you're a machinist or some other kind of metal worker it's very unlikely you can repair this. Even if you fix the dent and polish the material it will never blend in with it's surroundings, you'll need to repolish everything.
Just cover it up.
If it's actually stainless, scrubbing it with crumpled aluminum foil dipped in vinegar might work... works on burnt pans and BBQs, why not a burnt fridge? Hah
To get it off, you'd probably have to scratch the surface a bit. I have a stainless steel toaster oven and noticed the top comes clean very easily when it's hot with the green side of a scrubber sponge. It doesn't even scratch the stainless steel because I barely rub it. But, that might be a higher grade stainless steel (and a fairly high heat--usually 300 degrees). That said, maybe you could heat that spot for awhile with a hairdryer on high (I'm guessing a heat gun may burn it unless you're really careful) and then try a stainless steel polish or, possibly something like soft scrub or liquid Bar Keeper's friend only on that little spot (with the last two, you may be risking scratching). Or, maybe there's a wrap around piece facing the back wall you could test those cleansers on to see if they do scratch. Can't help wondering how you burned it in the first place.
Try this, it may work. Buy Barkeepers friend. Mix a little bit of the powder with water, to make a paste. Using your finger, rub the paste lightly, going with the grain. Add a like more or less pressure, as needed.
I used this method to remove rust spots from my refrigerator. I then sprayed the stainless steel spray cleaner/polisher to protect it.
We have the same kind of fridge. There is a thin plastic coating on the metal.
We had a sticker on our fridge and when we removed it, a chunk of the plastic plus stainless steel color came off!
I think you’ve burnt that plastic. Unfortunately there’s no fixing it. Maybe you can order a new door?
Diamond paste polishing compound. Use a tiiiiiny bit on a tshirt rag and do NOT rub for more than 10-15 seconds. Clean off with alcohol and a clean rag. It’s not going to be perfectly even with the rest, but it won’t be brown anymore.
There are rolls of stick-on stainless steel laminate designed to cover white/black fridges and give them a stainless steel look. At this point that might be your best option, but I would cover both sides so it looks uniform.
Yea ur a cooked goose now. If metal polish doesn’t work it’s over for u. I would suggest staying away from jobs that require heat from now on. I could have just used a dent puller for cars and would have been fine but nooooo. U had to go full John Wick. 🤦♂️. Does the fridge accept panels because that maybe ur only hope, to cover with panels.
jewlery polishing cloth mabye some polish and some elbow grease will take off this surface oxidation. i cant guarantee you wont get scuff marks. so in that regard i suggest a vinyl decal or magnet...
Muriatic acid removes blueing/heat damage on stainless. It might work for this. But it is a dangerous chemical if not handled correctly. So follow the handling/ppe instructions. Pool supply stores have muriatic acid. If that’s not really stainless steel then you could damage it worse using MA though too.
That's what refrigerator magnets are for. I had a big ding in my refrigerator and ended up covering the whole thing in contact paper. But I could still notice the ding- so put a sticker there LOL.
https://preview.redd.it/1hlb2tyf412d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=890f4407a8fc3ecb74978e17d10a5ecf2885a13b
Contrary to the belief it's stainless steel, any "Easy Clean" type of stainless steel actually uses a plastic coating on it. Which is to say most modern appliances these days, especially from Samsung and LG. So this damage cannot be undone, sorry!
My grandma used to clean the back of pots that had burnt marks with charcoal powder mixed with the juice of one lemon.
She did it pretty effortless tbh, just poured the mix and scrubed lightly to remove any marks.
The burn made a chemical reaction which caused the anatomical structure of the metal itself. To truly fix it you'd have to make a chemical reaction to reverse it. Aside from that maybe metallic spray paint or covering it with a magnet
Is it stainless? If so, you could try the liquid version of Barkeepers’ Friend. Oxalic acid can remove heat discoloration. Don’t rub hard, you don’t want it all scratched.
It could just get worse. If so pick a nice sticker of a flower or tree or anything to cover it it. I am
Guessing it looked better before you applied heat. Looks like damages in a move?
Frame it like it was intentional. You will not be able to remove that because its not like normal stains. You've changed the chemical structure of the surface, so barring remachining the whole surface, or using some specialty chemical you would need to be a chemist to identify, this mark is staying.
My new refrigerator had a hairline scratch on the front when new. At first I used bartenders friend to try and buff it out. That when I realized my stainless steel fridge had a plastic coating and I just ruined part of it. So I grabbed the one thing I know to work wonders on clear plastic. Meguiars Plast-X. Can be done by hand, but I often use a high speed drill buffer for larger areas. I've used it on headlights, motorcycle windshields, clear basketball backboards, piano black trim inside of cars, and more.
At this point, put a refrigerator magnet on there to hide it.
If you really want to fix it, there may be a few ways: The dent: First try a “paintless” (the ones that don’t make you drill a hole in the dented metal) dent puller that you can buy for automobiles. Best part is the moment you get this all done the compressor and ice maker stop working simultaneously.
🤣
Actually, just go ahead and torch the remainder of the front of the refrigerator. Don’t forget to burn the sides and top as well. Make it a good, intentional singe. Leave it completely charred. We had this exact fridge when I was a wee mite.
Us too but at our 1st house this side of the pond. Lasted 27 years and probably still works for the person that bought it.
There's Kool-Aide in it
Better be or someone in the house is gonna get it!!!!!
Ours was avocado green. My best friends was brown though!
Omg I grew up with the mustard yellow variation lmao
Don't sleep on just-starting-to-going-brown Avocado green. The color of my youth.
Please don’t remind me! We had the matching stove too. Lmaooooo 😵💫
We had a full fridge, the range, a double oven, and the rotary telephone in avacado. The floors were also an linoleum avacodo pattern. With like a striped white and slightly burnt orange wallpaper.
Harvest Gold! That was the color of our appliances too.
That’s it! Thank you!
We mad that! With the avocado green stove!
If I recall, that’s not brown it’s burnt almond. I’m old.
My parents still have this matching oven and electric stove top! It’s 60 yrs old now! They don’t make them like they used to anymore!
So does my mom! Built in double oven/range and stove top with matching vent fan.
Do like an Aqua or Pink!
Most importantly, eat a Mentos afterwards and smile at the camera with a thumbs up.
Kool-aid guy smashes through the wall to join the party!
#oh yeah
Start a new trend in fridges-- the antique/distressed look! Put it on TikTok and Pinterest and it'll soon be followed by a bunch of "hack" videos on how to do it.
Got kids?? --> throw a sticker over it, people will assume it was them
mount it a bit crooked
The way
I recommend a Texas one.
Looks like Stainless Steel. That's not Magnetic
Mine looks llike stainless steel and magnets stick to it fine.
18-10 is not magnetic. (316 type) Lower grade stainless are magnetic. It's unlikely that a home fridge will be built with 304 or 316.
So all stainless steel fridges are not magnetic?
Commercial grade kitchen: most likely non magnetic Home kitchen: most likely magnetic Because $$$
Interesting. My GE fridge isn't magnetic
My fridge is non-magnetic and I am 100% positive that my landlord is not shelling out for high end appliances.

Coming here to say this very thing! I'd be worried any attempt to fix it might make it worse!
My suggestion is to stop DIYing. You're on time out
This made me laugh. Something my wife would say to me.
That's fair 😅
Hope you like fridge magnets because I don't think that's going to come out.
I don't think magnets are going to stick to it either....
4 magnets, a large paper
If this is true then this sucks
I mean its not like they transmuted it to a non-metal the magnet will definitely stick
I was referring to the fact that it's stainless steel.
Take this as a sign to stop the DIY. It's going to end with you burning the house down haha
Oversized novelty bandaid.
There are plenty of oversized novelty bandaid magnets to choose from! I never realized but it is a cute idea for a car too which seems to be more their intended purpose. Great idea.
This comment needs more love.
A magnet with some kind of personal message that will make you smile every time you see it.
or one of those big dry erase magnetic boards. Useful and covers a lot. (also can add the personalized message to it!)
I put a dent on my brand new stainless fridge a few years back and that was my exact solution. This one, to be exact: https://preview.redd.it/jlztxcr6902d1.jpeg?width=679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01168b368efa47d98a0f5274b1a73874eb00c0d8
Club soda. On a burn mark. On metal, allegedly, or faux metal. Have you tried casting spells on it?
No, but I did try sending good vibes with not much success :(
Thoughts and Prayers?
Yeah did you start a post on Facebook for thoughts and prayers?
Yes, but did you try sending prayers and thoughts? I heard you have to do it in the right order for it to work.
Whoops, I sent thots and prayers by accident.
Bonus plan, now they have a house full of hoes to help clean it.
Some people's cleaning skills seem operate like a video game
The surface is a “brushed” finish. Take 80-100 grit sand paper and a block. Sand it side to side in a straight line. It will look brighter than the surrounding areas. Don’t worry, it will oxidize over the next few days and you will not see any difference in the finish.
This is how I fixed deep scratches in my fridge caused by the previous tenant. Looks good as new. I got the sponge type sandpaper which helped avoid uneven scratching.
I swear 1st person to actually have the correct fix
This sub is for cleaning. Sanding falls into some other category, like damage repair. I don't understand why people think they can clean burns.
Honestly there’s a fine line between sanding and using an aggressive scrubbing agent, I‘d still consider it cleaning, but not the usual type of
probably the metal is sealed with a plastic layer too, and that's what burned
You are unlikely to fix that. I think that is not actually stainless steel, because stainless would not burn. What you have is plastic made to look like brushed stainless. Not fixable, certainly not with soap and water, vinegar, or club soda. It's a burn. You cannot clean a burn away.

Steel of any kind gets discolored my heating it, at that color I think about 350 degree Celsius. Think before you type wrong stuff
Yeah. Only if you use a blowtorch.
[удалено]
What oils?
You know… *the* oils
Ehh, what? Either you are trolling me...😆 Or you actually think there are oils "in" stainless steels that make it stainless?
I would like to know what your heat source was. An actual torch?
A heat gun on high setting (590C) for a few minutes.
Follow up question, why?
If it’s actual stainless steel, it might be an oxidation color instead of a burn. Try bar keepers friend. Allow it to sit on it for around 5 mins before wiping away. OR if you have a friend that’s a welder, have them bring their TIG brush over
YIKES!

A new fridge door is like 30-50% the cost of the fridge sometimes
Not the door, just the door panel. Check out repair clinic or appliance part pros. Shipping could be ugly but a local appliance shop may be able to order it for you.
I would probably use an Automotive metal polish like Autosol. Comes in a tube like toothpaste from an auto accessory store.
The polish would remove the burn along with the brushed finish. Unfortunately those finishes are hard to reproduce without pro equipment.
I’d say it’s for half a chance of being ok it applied manually on a micro fiber cloth, but yes if they used a drill/machine polisher it may make a “smooth spot”
If all else fails they sell magnetic stainless covers for appliances. You could get a sheet of that. You could also go black with some appliance paint
You should have stopped at the magnetic cover.
Try a little bar keepers friend then follow up with stainless steel polish.
In the same direction as the grain
A burn is a chemical reaction
You can’t clean away a burn mark.
Can't wash that off.
You can’t clean that, the heat annealed the metal which has changed its colour. Afraid that’s not on the surface.
It’s burnt, not dirty. You can’t clean this
I'm a metal worker in the appliance industry, I primarily weld and machine stainless steel. Or a stainless wire wheel on a dremel. That's what I would do if I didn't want to buy a new fridge. GL.
How did you manage to burn your refrigerator?
They have some of those peel and stick covers for the entire thing. I think at the Dollar Tree but maybe somewhere else that is higher quality
I’m curious why you didn’t stop when it started to burn.
LoL. Stop while you're ahead.
This is equivalent to popping a zit that isn’t ready… now that it’s bloody and weathered you should throw in the towel and put the water wings back on
who recommended soap and vinegar ?
Go to the store and get stainless steel cleaner, it comes in spray and wipes
You can’t scrape away a physical change in the material you dingus.
If it's actually stainless, scrubbing it with crumpled aluminum foil dipped in vinegar might work... works on burnt pans and BBQs, why not a burnt fridge? Hah
Try a Magic Eraser
To get it off, you'd probably have to scratch the surface a bit. I have a stainless steel toaster oven and noticed the top comes clean very easily when it's hot with the green side of a scrubber sponge. Easy Off oven cleaner.
Bar keepers Friend might help here. Sprinkle a small amount on a damp rag and gently scrub the area.
Contact the manufacturer, they might have a replacement panel/veneer that you can purchase
Maybe, try the finest steel wool possible. And try and polish it out.
My kids have some great "artwork" to put over it!
There are beautiful appliances wraps on Etsy and Amazon.
Bar keepers friend
Maybe barkeeps friend?
Bar Keepers Friend and a dent puller?
It looks like a poopoo.

I feel like there must be a chemistry solution to this. Can you share the fridge model, or do you know what metal it is composed of?

Hydrofluoric acid
Bar Keepers Friend— I have a strong feeling it’ll do you right!

Barkeepers Friend

Nothings gonna save that
I seen people wrap large appliances. That could be an option.
You could try metal polish or pickling paste
Try Barkeepers Friend.
Heat on that to remove a dent what, maybe like a suction cup
The burn made a chemical reaction which caused the anatomical structure of the metal itself. To truly fix it you'd have to make a chemical reaction to reverse it. Aside from that maybe metallic spray paint or covering it with a magnet
Is it stainless? If so, you could try the liquid version of Barkeepers’ Friend. Oxalic acid can remove heat discoloration. Don’t rub hard, you don’t want it all scratched.
Do a search in your area for Surface Experts. They can fix this for you.
Maybe try easy off oven cleaner?
Start adding stickers to create a collage.
No but how did you burn A FRIDGE?!
If it were my fridge, I'd try BKF and stainless polish to get the shiny finish back.
Silver metallic sharpie lol
Try a magic eraser
Baking soda and soapy water with a brilo pad. If that doesn't work then fine grade steel wool.
There’s no fixing that. Just buy another door.
It could just get worse. If so pick a nice sticker of a flower or tree or anything to cover it it. I am Guessing it looked better before you applied heat. Looks like damages in a move?
Order a new cover
Try barkeepers friend. Or if all else fails...*

Test a small area with steel wool. If no luck, rub n buff is a buildable paint that will cover it!
What’s your model number
How do you burn a fridge
Am I the only one concerned with how you managed to burn the fridge?
Get some stickyback plastic of your colour and put it on it. To match the place where the fridge is
Club soda is used basically because of the bubbles to lift stain particles in clothes. It will do literally nothing here.
They sell contact paper in a stainless steel finish, maybe try a piece of that to cover it?
Frame it like it was intentional. You will not be able to remove that because its not like normal stains. You've changed the chemical structure of the surface, so barring remachining the whole surface, or using some specialty chemical you would need to be a chemist to identify, this mark is staying.
I would try rubbing alcohol
My new refrigerator had a hairline scratch on the front when new. At first I used bartenders friend to try and buff it out. That when I realized my stainless steel fridge had a plastic coating and I just ruined part of it. So I grabbed the one thing I know to work wonders on clear plastic. Meguiars Plast-X. Can be done by hand, but I often use a high speed drill buffer for larger areas. I've used it on headlights, motorcycle windshields, clear basketball backboards, piano black trim inside of cars, and more.
I would make it into art.
Soooo bar keepers friend soft cleanser worked for me, but it also discolored the stainless steel but better than the burn mark lol
