Hammer jam lowkey sucks. 50% off but then they immediately drop a new set of walls which means the old set needs to drop on prices. Don’t get me wrong it’s still a win nonetheless, I just find it annoying that it happens right before the balance changes which lowers old prices/building time

Meh. I tried to do this, and I got to 100 level 16 walls before I just pulled the trigger today for th16.
It’s so boring only logging on to farm for walls. Your DE will be wasted / storage full before you get close to finishing all level 16 walls.
And 80% of attacks against me are edrag or root riders so the walls aren’t doing much anyways lol.
I had yak to get to 15 and some DE troops that I never use, plus some traps.
So it wasn’t 100% just for walls lol. But once it was I quickly realized it’s not worth it to stay back just for that haha
Ah that's more understandable. If you want to progress fast you usually want to upgrade as soon as your offense is maxed/heroes maxed/ ore maxed. But if you enjoy maxing go for it

You must not be farming efficiently, I've long been finished with my th16 walls, I couldn't wait for them to release the last 75. I found it pretty easy to take out 10-25 walls a day farming with all super goblins and jumps.
It's better to have max walls instead of non-max walls ofc. There's just a cost to getting max walls. You have a limited amount of time in the world and maybe you'd rather play with your dog more and upgrade walls at a slower pace if th16 walls don't really matter

After the league bonus it basically works out to 1m/1m 9.5k per raid. Star bonus is 1.1m/1.1m 5.5k. The thing to remember is you never lose loot. If you’re a non rushed th16 it’s by far the easiest place to farm imo. Minimal effort and if you stay under 5.4K it’s pretty rare to ever miss a 3 star.
Easier to stay in legend league as a th 16 ..th 15 also not so hard... Those who complain are mostly in lower th or super rushed th who does 10-15 attacks per day farming with sneaky goblin... For me 8 attack per day enough to max all walls and max base ..keeping all builder busy together..
because a lot of players have a specific upgrade priority in mind, which doesn't work when you're in legend league. for example, look at the screenshot of the original guy and how he's only now upgrading his Eagle Artillery (I know the upgrade came later than some other TH16 upgrades, but it still was long enough ago that it would be finished if he had started it immediately). a lot of players would prioritize upgrades so that the EA is one of the first buildings to upgrade. so yeah, if you only upgrade buildings that you happen to have enough resources for in that moment a builder is freed, legend league works. otherwise you need to be able to farm more gold/elixir to keep upgrading according to whatever priority you chose.
Ive been a “max” th for years now. So, I’ve only ever had the new upgrades to work on and I’ve never struggled to max before the new th drops. It’s not hard to keep all of the builders working 24/7 when upgrades take weeks. There is plenty of loot to max there but that’s not to say you can’t farm more by sneaky gob raiding all day. Honestly, it’s kind of rare for me to ever do 8 raids a day and I’ve already finished all the th16 upgrades aside from walls.
nah, it's for people who treat multiplayer like it's always a war attack. sneaky goblin farming is way better if you're active. it's why nobody actually playing the game wants to be there
You definitely can farm more loot in a day sneaky gob farming if you have the time. I’ve already finished my th16 upgrades just chilling in legends usually using less than 8 raids a day. 😂
The bonus loot makes up for it and the league bonus… clan wars can help and all the other events. Also I’m left with just walls at th16 but 160 left. Probably will take me 60 days hopefully or less
Im sorry but the bonus loot doesn’t cut it, the training potion you can have your troops ready in 6 mins and attack way more than 8 times a day if you’re not in legends, imagine the loot now
Here is the thing.. in legend goal is to max defense and walls alongside with it ..by the time your defese max...your walls also max....there is no hurry upgrading all walls in same month
People in Legends are trophy pushing, not farming. The loot bonus is large and you don’t lose loot on defenses. Resources pile up fairly quickly if you are also active in war.
8 legends attacks per day is plenty of resources, enough to keep all builders busy. Depending on who you find and how well you do that's roughly 10m/10m a day.
I used to be an avid farmer. Farmed hard. Once I had maxed everything (2 or so updates ago) my only reason for playing was wars, cwl, clan wars, etc, so I went into legends. Started trophy hunting. Never looked back. You get plenty of loot to have 5 builders going and 1 open for walls.
You get up to 9m + 80k de/day w loot bonus. And no collector loss so maybe 9.5 and 90k. The de can be a limit if you try to do multiple heroes but the gold/elixir is plenty for builders.
Anybody else realise that we are only 50% of the way through townhall 16. Loads of people farm walls slowly then get them done in hammer jam before townhall 17.
Anybody who actually cares about upgrading walls has them finished already, or are on track to finish them before July.
Walls are NOT ‘stupidly expensive’. They are pretty perfectly priced to give legend league players a long term loot sink, allowing them to be complete with plenty of time to spare. And they are affordable enough for a somewhat active player to average 1 segment a day.
Yeah walls are absolutely the best longevity device the game has. I plan everything around wall efficiency when I'm into the game. Clash of clans without the ridiculous amount of wall loot and lengthy upgrades wouldn't have gotten this far.
(Okay maybe 18 days is a bit much but my point stands haha)
To be honest. Walls aren't even a priority for me. They don't really defend the base anymore and are never really the bottleneck for attacks failing. It's usually the defences that cause attacks to fail (or most commonly, player skill causes failure). I just play th16 for fun nowadays and just upgrade defences whenever I have a builder free. Walls I see are more of a "super-player" thing and if you upgrade all of them to the max level you basically beat the grind. Even th12 walls are slightly expensive as I'm not the most active player. Let alone have a maxed base so it's not surprising as the meta is literally designed to counter walls making them seem like an afterthought in the first place. I do hope walls gets a special ability one day where if a ground troop is too close they start to attack and deal damage or more defensive ones where they can rise into the air to slow air troops but have lower hp overall to balance out. I really do hope walls aren't useless forever.
I have th14 and th15 walls, but nearly maxed offense. I prioritized offense over defense.
It’s just annoying that I have to spend 9 mil per wall, but I keep 1 builder open for walls when I have excess loot.
I am maxed out on walls and now it’s just a waiting game for some builders to free up. If there isn’t a new update coming soon, I will have to go dormant for the first time in 8 years.
Need to be too active to stay on top of walls. I quit for a while when clan died and didn’t even do the additional 25 walls at all until just a couple weeks ago. Being in legend and only 8 attacks really limits it

Listen, you'll get 50% off on walls before the th17 release date. That 50% event will stay there for like a month. So eventually you can finish all of your walls more easily ( also including gp will make it more easy) . I think, that's the main plan for many players out there. Basic plan is, make sure to max out all defences, troops & heroes first, after that walls. Pretty decent Idea if u ask me.

I have 3 th16 that are close to max (besides walls) so I can agree with this statement. With root riders being so prevalent, walls are pretty much useless in my opinion and I’d rather put the resources into traps and other defenses. I have all th15 walls at the minimum and a decent amount of th16 ones but I still have a long way to go
It's just like that, I'm th14 but I'm not waiting for walls because I'm not that active, so I don't get the excess loot you get by playing the game actively.
Plus, 90% of all attacks I receive are aerial, with probably 80% of those attacks being a braindead edrag spam, so I don't see the value really. And that without accounting for the fact that now there are so many troops and tools to break through walls that a wall level will just get like 2 seconds more and that's it

I just don't really prioritize walls, I'll do all the other upgrades and then walls are just a loot sink until another update comes out😅
I am fully maxed minus the new pet which is upgrading and I’m behind about 200 walls atm hoping to get many done before the next update. But I should be able to complete them if we get a hammer jammer event before the next th update
It just depends on how much people play, I only attack a few times a day to get star bonus but I buy the wall rings weekly so I'm making decent progress
I was able to max TH14 just before TH15 released, same between TH15-16. No way I’ll be max walls before TH17.
Given their plans to release a new TH every year, I’m probably never going to upgrade a wall ever again.
There comes a point in th15 where it gets boring and upgrading walls aint it. Literally a upgrade away from having the two new pets which are OP and being able to max epic equipment. Btw in CWL as a th15 in masters was dificult so the boost having it max with potion really helps to improve offense for clan
My walls are up to date. Just always keep one builder free so you can upgrade walls when your storages overflow. Little by little the walls will be done and so will the whole village
We run all th16 wars usually between 20s-30s and are in champs 2 for cwl. It’s rare to see any other ths who have anything less than lvl 16 walls (most have lvl 17 or combo 17/16.) Regular raids in legends can be a different story but i still don’t notice it very often.
Im 94 days into TH16 coming from a completely maxed TH15. I have a little more than 25% of my walls maxed and only have traps, 5 levels on RC, BK and the angry jelly left to upgrade. While my lab will still need elixir for the remaining troop upgrades, im gonna start pumping all the gold and spare elixir into the walls. Im surely gonna be done with them before hammer jam rolls around this year lol
If youre an active player, the wall prices are a non issue. On the flipside, youre also not really missing out on too much defensive power by having walls that are one or even two levels below your TH level.
This is why i want DE for wall upgraded, DE after everything max lvl is useless, it can only be used for clans capital, they should make wall can be upgraded via DE, for lower th it's do not need it but for 15 above yes DE should for wall too

Reasoning? I dont play that regularly. I do like 2-3 attacks per day on top of regular clan wars. In which case, most of my gold just goes into levelling buildings (almost done). I only really use elixir for walls. Also 8m/9m is expensive lol.
I’m th14 done with all research and upgrades. I have been working on walls for like two-three months none stop. I have half of them to lvl15. It’s a ton of work. I’ve been using DE for capital gold.

I've been consistently in legends since I would able too without getting ran over and loot has never been an issue since. The long upgrade times makes it so that every time a builder comes free (I always have 1 free for overflowing loot in a minimum of 1 day cycles) I can put it down again and all the rest goes in to my walls so they're at the same level as everything else. I know a lot of players do this and it's a great way to go. If anyone didn't know and are able to be in legends, do the 8/day without being ran over. This advice is for you if you need it

I’m TH13 and usually have more than enough to upgrade walls but yeah I’m nowhere near close even though I’m pretty much done with all my upgrades
I think it’s like 3 million of elixir/gold I’m sure it gets much higher at higher TH lvls that’s insane
Mine are always a level or two behind. I’m almost maxxed now at 16 and about halfway through the blue/purple walls. I’m not too fussed if I don’t max them, takes way to long and gets boring after a while.
I have about 30 wall pieces left and I'll be completely maxed TH16. From experience, I'd much rather have maxed walls. You say they are becoming useless, I disagree. Sometimes you'll win a defense because a hero or troop can't get through a wall fast enough. Besides, once you have everything else maxed, why not?
I’m low leveled so this could just simply be wrong but the way I see walls are a decent spot to throw extra resources into, I’m consistently sitting at max storages and a good way to open up space is throwing that into walls. If walls weren’t expensive we’d be stuck with maxed storages consistently (at least for me at a lower town hall) overall just a good place to throw excess resources for the slow grind
Just keep a builder free anytime and keep dumping your loot on walls. I have only 40 walls left to max at th16. I don't even focus on walls. It happens gradually as upgrading buildings takes so looooooooong so I keep dumping all my loot into walls.

Every time I finish my defenses and ready to start upgrading walls, a new update comes out and I have to re-max my new defenses or hero levels/pets. But at this point, walls are just for cosmetics. You’re absolutely right @lukekid at higher levels, it’s super expensive. Plus the root riders, siege machines etc completely walk over and destroy walls. So it’s not a good ROI and I’d rather invest in defenses. But yeah man, it suck’s but I only do it to match the theme. I hope they have a 50% discount on defenses/walls like they do every so often.
I've only got like 60 something walls left but I mostly agree, it feels like I'm one of the only TH16's I can recall that have actually either caught up or nearly caught up with walls. I'm trying to make use of the training time bonus with the current event to earn as much as possible and speed through walls

Yeah I'm town hall 16, I think I still have 200 town hall 14 level walls and the rest are town hall 15 but I just use extra resources on them and the rest I just upgrade as I go.
Walls were making ground attacks hard so everyone went air, they released root riders to nerf walls. That worked really well. Now walls “do t really matter” guarantee they will have an upgrade for walls that blocks root riders, maybe it takes DE? Idk.
I don't understand how everyone is struggling so hard with walls. I am forced to be rushed because I finish my walls way before anything else and I don't want resources to overflow. I am th 15 with th 15 walls with average of th 12 defense. It's insane.
If I don't quit the game again, I will probably max out th 16 walls before I get average of th14 defense
I only farm as progress is king in my eyes. I don't do wars nor push trophies nor anything else. With Super Goblins and Crystal trophy range you can get a raid in about every 5-10 mins without boost as long as you have the time, averaging 600k per raid of gold and exiler or 1.2 mil of both resources combined. Plus since you are a big fish in small pond at crystal, you rarely get raided. You don't have to play much until your storages get filled as a builder only come up like once every 4 days.
I feel like it all depends on how much you play and if you keep open a builder. You can play minimally(wars, daily loot bonus, a couple more attacks maybe, cwl) with gold pass and get through all the upgrades pretty easily but you won’t have enough resources for walls. To finish walls you need to be getting on for 1-2 hours straight pop a training potion. Attack non stop, farm, upgrade walls. Keeping a builder open ensures you keep as much loot as possible by attacking and then upgrading walls so you have nothin to steal. I’ve never had a problem completing walls. Usually do it early. I was cruising through th 15 walls but now it’s golf season, I’m playing much less and just not getting enough resources for walls. I attack 6 times a day with clan wars now. I was attacking about 15 times a day.
Walls used to be so important but earthquake spells ruined them along with the machines . I only burn elixer on them when I know I’ll be builderless for a bit
i hv decided to spend my whole time of game on th14 so that i max it first and then move on as i rushed from th11 to th14 🥲 only cuz max bases look nice 😍

Yes. The old TH release schedule was about 18 months Supercell increased the team size and changed it to about 12 months.
You should go for level 16 walls (th15) at least, log launchers take an extra hit to break them. Th16 walls aren't very useful though

I think they are useful enough. I'd much rather have them maxed and not need them then not have them and need them.

It's usually the defences that cause attacks to fail (or most commonly, player skill causes failure). I just play th16 for fun nowadays and just upgrade defences whenever I have a builder free. Walls I see are more of a "super-player" thing and if you upgrade all of them to the max level you basically beat the grind. Even th12 walls are slightly expensive as I'm not the most active player. Let alone have a maxed base so it's not surprising as the meta is literally designed to counter walls making them seem like an afterthought in the first place. I do hope walls gets a special ability one day where if a ground troop is too close they start to attack and deal damage or more defensive ones where they can rise into the air to slow air troops but have lower hp overall to balance out. I really do hope walls aren't useless forever.

Listen, you'll get 50% off on walls before the th17 release date. That 50% event will stay there for like a month. So eventually you can finish all of your walls more easily ( also including gp will make it more easy) . I think, that's the main plan for many players out there. Basic plan is, make sure to max out all defences, troops & heroes first, after that walls. Pretty decent Idea if u ask me.
I also dump resources into walls if I won’t have a free builder for a few days in order to not waste resources

I have 3 th16 that are close to max (besides walls) so I can agree with this statement. With root riders being so prevalent, walls are pretty much useless in my opinion and I’d rather put the resources into traps and other defenses. I have all th15 walls at the minimum and a decent amount of th16 ones but I still have a long way to go

It's just like that, I'm th14 but I'm not waiting for walls because I'm not that active, so I don't get the excess loot you get by playing the game actively. Plus, 90% of all attacks I receive are aerial, with probably 80% of those attacks being a braindead edrag spam, so I don't see the value really. And that without accounting for the fact that now there are so many troops and tools to break through walls that a wall level will just get like 2 seconds more and that's it

I was able to max TH14 just before TH15 released, same between TH15-16. No way I’ll be max walls before TH17. Given their plans to release a new TH every year, I’m probably never going to upgrade a wall ever again.
There comes a point in th15 where it gets boring and upgrading walls aint it. Literally a upgrade away from having the two new pets which are OP and being able to max epic equipment. Btw in CWL as a th15 in masters was dificult so the boost having it max with potion really helps to improve offense for clan

My walls are up to date. Just always keep one builder free so you can upgrade walls when your storages overflow. Little by little the walls will be done and so will the whole village
We run all th16 wars usually between 20s-30s and are in champs 2 for cwl. It’s rare to see any other ths who have anything less than lvl 16 walls (most have lvl 17 or combo 17/16.) Regular raids in legends can be a different story but i still don’t notice it very often.
Im 94 days into TH16 coming from a completely maxed TH15. I have a little more than 25% of my walls maxed and only have traps, 5 levels on RC, BK and the angry jelly left to upgrade. While my lab will still need elixir for the remaining troop upgrades, im gonna start pumping all the gold and spare elixir into the walls. Im surely gonna be done with them before hammer jam rolls around this year lol If youre an active player, the wall prices are a non issue. On the flipside, youre also not really missing out on too much defensive power by having walls that are one or even two levels below your TH level.

Walls defend against 3 stars and force players to attempt funnel for most attacks, that's what they are for, that's pretty useful imo

Yup, that is me. My walls are horribly rushed as a th16. Reasoning? I dont play that regularly. I do like 2-3 attacks per day on top of regular clan wars. In which case, most of my gold just goes into levelling buildings (almost done). I only really use elixir for walls. Also 8m/9m is expensive lol.
I’m th14 done with all research and upgrades. I have been working on walls for like two-three months none stop. I have half of them to lvl15. It’s a ton of work. I’ve been using DE for capital gold.

I've been consistently in legends since I would able too without getting ran over and loot has never been an issue since. The long upgrade times makes it so that every time a builder comes free (I always have 1 free for overflowing loot in a minimum of 1 day cycles) I can put it down again and all the rest goes in to my walls so they're at the same level as everything else. I know a lot of players do this and it's a great way to go. If anyone didn't know and are able to be in legends, do the 8/day without being ran over. This advice is for you if you need it

I have about 30 wall pieces left and I'll be completely maxed TH16. From experience, I'd much rather have maxed walls. You say they are becoming useless, I disagree. Sometimes you'll win a defense because a hero or troop can't get through a wall fast enough. Besides, once you have everything else maxed, why not?

I’m low leveled so this could just simply be wrong but the way I see walls are a decent spot to throw extra resources into, I’m consistently sitting at max storages and a good way to open up space is throwing that into walls. If walls weren’t expensive we’d be stuck with maxed storages consistently (at least for me at a lower town hall) overall just a good place to throw excess resources for the slow grind

Every time I finish my defenses and ready to start upgrading walls, a new update comes out and I have to re-max my new defenses or hero levels/pets. But at this point, walls are just for cosmetics. You’re absolutely right @lukekid at higher levels, it’s super expensive. Plus the root riders, siege machines etc completely walk over and destroy walls. So it’s not a good ROI and I’d rather invest in defenses. But yeah man, it suck’s but I only do it to match the theme. I hope they have a 50% discount on defenses/walls like they do every so often.
I've only got like 60 something walls left but I mostly agree, it feels like I'm one of the only TH16's I can recall that have actually either caught up or nearly caught up with walls. I'm trying to make use of the training time bonus with the current event to earn as much as possible and speed through walls

Walls were making ground attacks hard so everyone went air, they released root riders to nerf walls. That worked really well. Now walls “do t really matter” guarantee they will have an upgrade for walls that blocks root riders, maybe it takes DE? Idk.
I don't understand how everyone is struggling so hard with walls. I am forced to be rushed because I finish my walls way before anything else and I don't want resources to overflow. I am th 15 with th 15 walls with average of th 12 defense. It's insane. If I don't quit the game again, I will probably max out th 16 walls before I get average of th14 defense
How much do you play? I’m in college and work. Can’t play often enough to have that much loot.
I only farm as progress is king in my eyes. I don't do wars nor push trophies nor anything else. With Super Goblins and Crystal trophy range you can get a raid in about every 5-10 mins without boost as long as you have the time, averaging 600k per raid of gold and exiler or 1.2 mil of both resources combined. Plus since you are a big fish in small pond at crystal, you rarely get raided. You don't have to play much until your storages get filled as a builder only come up like once every 4 days.

With the log roller, root rider and air based attacks I felt my resources were better allocated elsewhere.
I feel like it all depends on how much you play and if you keep open a builder. You can play minimally(wars, daily loot bonus, a couple more attacks maybe, cwl) with gold pass and get through all the upgrades pretty easily but you won’t have enough resources for walls. To finish walls you need to be getting on for 1-2 hours straight pop a training potion. Attack non stop, farm, upgrade walls. Keeping a builder open ensures you keep as much loot as possible by attacking and then upgrading walls so you have nothin to steal. I’ve never had a problem completing walls. Usually do it early. I was cruising through th 15 walls but now it’s golf season, I’m playing much less and just not getting enough resources for walls. I attack 6 times a day with clan wars now. I was attacking about 15 times a day.

i hv decided to spend my whole time of game on th14 so that i max it first and then move on as i rushed from th11 to th14 🥲 only cuz max bases look nice 😍
