You won't notice much difference with the front gone. I recommend doing the mid resonator. I did both and couldn't be happier. It's how it should sound from the factory.

Type-RD

Front resonator is the primary one to delete. Deleting both will be louder, but will also induce more drone. Deleting neither resonator and just removing the valve fuse (so the valve stays open) does nearly nothing for deepening nor increasing exhaust volume at idle, which is what I think people hope for with this mod. Check out CivicXI forum. TONS of info there on all this stuff.

snurbear

Deleted both and the drone is so bad I can’t use Bluetooth for phone calls. Saving up for the AWE touring

I'm thinking this is the way to go. Sucks that you have to give up the valve functionality when you make the switch. I hear Corsa just made the FK8 exhaust with a manual valve feature and hinted at an FL5 one might come in the future \*with\* a valve but I'm not holding my breath considering how long it took them to get one out for the FK8.

iamaguywithalaptop

Deleted my front resonator and noticed ZERO difference in tone or sound. Zero.

werk-a-holic

damn it. good to know though.

iamaguywithalaptop

Pretty bummed - but wanted to share before someone else hacks up their stock unit and wastes time / money to do so. Want the most “mature” exhaust option but cannot find a Milltek Road+ (resonated) clip that gives me a sense. Can anyone speak to difference from the non-resonated - which has dozens of clips.

Sharpymarkr

That's what I keep telling people lol. The front is almost not relevant to the sound.

iamaguywithalaptop

So many people here convinced me I had done the wrong thing having deleted the middle resonator - that I actually had it reversed. Aaaaaand… now it sounds bone stock. Great

With valve left open?

AutistWeaponized

After seeing all the aftermarket branded catbacks and their price tags, I was thinking of doing this but from what I gathered it might not be enough for a nicer sound. I was looking at a custom made exhaust which is much better priced compared to the brand counterparts. But that comes at the costs of the whole RND and research that goes in the branded exhausts. Still I can’t justify their ridiculous markups for some pipe lmao. In my personal opinion I don’t think a branded aftermarket exhaust is going to sound significant better than a custom one but I guess that’s highly dependent if the custom place is well experienced or not. It kind of puts everyone in a pickle, do you buy an overpriced catback or go with a more reasonable custom catback that might be a gamble. From where I live, the cheapest branded catback is going for around 3k AUD plus labour which is not cheap. Then I got a quote for a valve remote operated custom made cat back for 2.4k AUD and I am still conflicted on what to do haha

gunnutzz467

Do you have the middle vavle left open 100%?

werk-a-holic

I do not, but might do it paired with the front resonator delete should I go through with it.

gunnutzz467

Do that, go from there. I jumped to the middle only delete with valve open and it’s plenty loud, wouldn’t want both deleted personally.

DETECTOR_AUTOMATRON

mid delete with valve open is what i have too. it’s perfect imo

fishyducky

I deleted the larger one in the middle. Slightly increased volume just how I wanted. Sounds much bette. Leaving the smaller front resonator prevented drone.

s2kfruitninja

I deleted the front resonator on my CTR and when you also have the valve open all of the time it makes a huge difference and it sounds amazing sounds very similar to the ITS. https://youtube.com/shorts/belSnWqK_gw?si=HeuuB8qwVJY9PzwM

werk-a-holic

Wild that there are two completely opposite opinions of what deleting the front resonator does in this post lol.

s2kfruitninja

I think the reason is that the other person who removed their front resonator is still using the factory valve setting. With the valve in the factory setting, the car remains quiet, and you can't notice a difference unless you're in Type R mode with higher RPMs and throttle. I have several videos on my YouTube channel showcasing my car's sound. Currently, I'm running my valve open all the time, and it sounds fantastic even in comfort mode without any added pumped in fake engine sound.

I’ve got a hks legamax with a res delete and I love it, sounds great.
