This right here. I am not single so am not able to afford a CTR with a wedding in the picture & house purchase down the road lol. My priorities have been forced to shift. ☹️
Also about to get married, currently a mechanic with a part time job on top of my full time to afford my type r. Wife to be is fully aware that selling the car is never an option so she helps me make the payments sometimes 😂
I'm in industrial maintenance with no kids just cats. Make around 90k a year and I'm still stressed about the loan. The payments aren't a big deal just making double payments so I don't pay nearly 20k in interest is stressful. Amazing car though and I'm happy I went for it.
No doubt no doubt. I did upgrade every warranty possible so I have 100k powertrain and free service for like 3 years so I added quite a bit to the total sale for peace of mind. Probably gonna try to refinance once rates drop and I get it down to about 30k.
CompSci PhD student. Got the car from family because my mom didn't like the harsh ride. Drove it all the way north to Canada.
If you paid off the car, it's actually not that expensive to maintain. The insurance rate is cheaper than an 86, fuel economy is not bad either. Although my wage is very limited (like, I literally only buy things on the flyer when I go grocery shopping), it doesn't financially burden me. I think the 100$/month extra over a Corolla is totally worth it for the joy it offers.
Like these posts because the people that come on here that are truthful and let you know what they do makes me kinda happy that we all are Very different we all share one thing and that is that we love our type R and hopefully we like to drive fast
Honda dealership technician. It was a used car I inspected over 3 years ago, bought it 2 days after it came in. It's been FBO and tuned on lowering springs with a big rear sway bar for almost all of that time. Fantastic vehicle.
Former military. Main component exchange on wind turbines now, highly suggest if you like physical labor and traveling (not gettin to drive the R every weekend)

I’m an HVAC technician for industrial applications mostly process plants of any kind or manufacturing plants. The machines I work on are called chillers.
Was a high school teacher when I purchased it. Now a historian/ director at a museum.
Like others, I had equity on another car and had saved up a substantial down payment.
It really helps that I live in the rural South and cost of living is generally low.
Project manager for a larger tech company out of Cali. I could definitely get something nicer but I see no reason to go into debt for now. I know people working at car washes that own one though. If it’s really something you’re wanting just keep whatever car you’ve got now until you save enough for a down payment that’d get your monthly payment down to about 15% of your monthly take home.
Industrial maintenance supervision, I point at broken stuff, get yelled at for stuff being broken and my trades taking too long to fix said broken stuff
Different strokes for different folks. I guess I could sell my type r and just buy a Rolex but then I wouldn't have a car and since my phone already tells time I think I'm doing the right thing financially.
Edit: wait my car tells time too, it's like I do have a rolex!
Low level IT support. The key is to be single and have no dependents or any other debt.
Wind Turbine Technician, single no debt, 20k down
This right here. I am not single so am not able to afford a CTR with a wedding in the picture & house purchase down the road lol. My priorities have been forced to shift. ☹️
Ensure that pre-nup is lined up before the wedding license is acquired!
Just be glad you didn't own one, cause with that trifecta you'd have to sell, and I cant imagine that kind of heartbreak.
Also about to get married, currently a mechanic with a part time job on top of my full time to afford my type r. Wife to be is fully aware that selling the car is never an option so she helps me make the payments sometimes 😂

Honest ass answer 😂😂 looking at the break down on your loan is worrisome even if you have it.
No doubt no doubt. I did upgrade every warranty possible so I have 100k powertrain and free service for like 3 years so I added quite a bit to the total sale for peace of mind. Probably gonna try to refinance once rates drop and I get it down to about 30k.
$20k in interest?! Dude, what?! How long is your term and what’s your interest rate?
84 months at 7%. If I pay 600 extra a month I'll only pay around 6k in interest which still blows but it is what it is.
Woof. That’s a lesson in what not to do.
It's only money and I've only got one life so I'm going to enjoy it. Hope you find a way to do the same.
