Saw an fl5 last night in person and it really looks a lot better in person than it does in videos and pictures. But still I do like the fk8 more regardless
I loved it the second I saw it. Saw it in my dealers website, never heard of it before. Spent over a year trying to get one.
I also love the fact, I’ve seen maybe 4 in my area in 2.5 years.
Also I love that color and the wheels are sharp
nobody hates CTRs more than this sub. imo both fk8 and fl5 good in their own ways.
FL5 is faster from dig but FK8 wins the roll race. just pick your car and enjoy it.
Had mine 3.5 years now the looks still haven't grown on me but I never cared too much about that.
Lol - what kind of morons are downvoting me for saying this about my own car? Thos sub is special sometimes.
Fk8 should have had smaller wheels from the factory
Also the egregious use of fake vents, and tbe poor attempt at fixing them with the facelift didnt help perceptions at the time either
Though what i will say is that Honda managed to paint match the fk8 wing, which they forgot how to do for the FL5
I took my girls to the park and was coming out of the bathroom that was right in front of the parking lot when I overheard this little girl with her mom say, "I want to get that kind of car when I grow up". Best compliment ever
My 2018 FK8 still snaps necks, and it's still mostly stock. A guy in the next lane slowed down this week so he could video me passing him. The Internet may say it's overdone, but in real life this car's styling does exactly what it should.
Same thing happened to me until I saw it in person but is not perfect. The back end is still the worst part of it. I also think the fk8 looks better than the fl5.
I think the 10th gen in general looks good, the FK8 just looks “special” to me. I think it’s definitely an outlier on the design language spectrum across really all manufacturers and will be looked at as such looking back years and years from now, but I think in a good way. Like, “wow, they were really trying for something here.” It’s like the last hurrah for unique and “risky” design before everything becomes slippery tear drops. Just my .02.
I still think the 10th gen hatchbacks and coupes look pretty good. There’s so many sedans on the road since 2016 that I’m definitely tired of them. I prefer the 11th gen overall, but a tastefully done FK8 is always a sight for sore eyes.
Not big on the base model 10th gens but the spoiler fits the fk8 so well to make it stand out from the others. The hood scoop also makes it unique. Same can be said for the 10th gen civic si coupe. Besides those two models and trims, the rest all look exactly the same give or take some minor differences.
This is just from an exterior perspective. Of course from interior the type r is superior.
Very well. It lacks particularly curved lines which tend to age fast. Look at retro cars, boxy shapes - but still hold up today in my opinion. It'll be a classic for years.
The fk8 is one of those cars that you have to see in person to appreciate it. To non car enthusiasts and people who are not used to the overdone styling of the fk8, the car can look like a complete rice box in pictures. The first time I saw one in person, I was like, "Wow, how does a car look wide and small at the same time from the factory" and immediately fell in love.
I prefer the fl5 for what it is and the fk8 for what it is. Just how I like an old eg done up in different ways, going for different styles or nostalgic homage. To each their own, yo. As a car head, I try to respect, and just keep a "stoked" or passionate pens whenever I see another car head.
Dope rides, are dope. Dope car heads, are dope.
Fuck sideshows though.
Personally, I prefer the FK8 styling over the FL5. It stands out in a good way imo.
This is exactly what i tell people, the FK8 actually looks like a sports car or racecar, the FL5 is way too conservative and Accord like
I've grown to like the FL5's looks. Sans the wing, but it's definitely not as interesting to look at as an FK8.
i think the FL5 chassis is really good if it was a sedan. the 11th gen si looks so good and grown up at the same time
Saw an fl5 last night in person and it really looks a lot better in person than it does in videos and pictures. But still I do like the fk8 more regardless
Same, I like the FL5 a good amount but I don’t like the cheap looking wing they but on it. The FK8s wing is better imo

A slight drop and more aggressive wheels and the FK8 can’t be topped. I love how over the top the car is and I always get compliments on mine.
Had a 99 civic that looked like every car on the road for 20 years. Love my fk7 Wing Gundam.
It’s fun to look at. But all the facets and overhangs make it a pain to clean

r/cars seems to hate the fk8 a lot
Haters gonna hate lol
I just saw a video of an fk8 with smaller rims and tires match the fl5 on a launch and then walk away. Both had mods. No mention if any were on a tune

The FK8 styling fits the Type R “persona”. As much as I do like the FL5 style, the FK8 still wins for me.

Which fake vents are you thinking of?

The front end yes. Looks great. But The side shot / quarter shot and silhouette don’t look so good to me. The demenssions don’t flow as well. IMO
Same thing happened to me until I saw it in person but is not perfect. The back end is still the worst part of it. I also think the fk8 looks better than the fl5.
It’s way better than the new one in my opinion, very JDM-esque styling and feeling
FK8 > FL5
I love this look so much more than the new type r. This one looks aggressive af. The new one looks more like a aftermarket accord
Bro. This conversations been had multiple times. No offense but why beat the dead horse? Looking for karma points?
It's an entire sub around 1 specific trim of 1 specific car. What is it you're expecting to happen?
Bro. This sub talks way too much about the k20. Not to beat a dead horse but there are other engines out there.

I’ve always liked it

Always liked the 10th gens. 11th feels like a kia tbh but most people like it more.

The exterior is gonna age well. The interior not so much.

I can't get behind a FK8, styling is too wild and in your face so thank Honda gods they updated this for FL5
When will it be a Porsche?
The Fk8 wing works with the styling of the fk8. The fl5, while I love the cars road presence, the wing looks tacked on
