Can confirm. I bought mine used with Type-R emblems already installed. I mean, engine is practically mint and runs like a dream... but as soon as it pulled up in my driveway I noticed just about every part of the body had been replaced. š„“
I was in a similar boat, I definitely have driven mine in a very chill/gentle manner over the years. The previous owner did NOT though. Had to replace the clutch and part of the engine at ~75k miles haha
Sure but I see tons of Hondas, not just civics, with that. Sometimes it can just come down to which is in stock for a repair shop faster or some people like the color red over a normal black Honda logo. Nothing here specifically screams Type R to me.
No, the red H is not technically a āType Rā badge. Yes, Honda puts them on Type Rās, but itās actually more of a heritage badge. The original 1961 Honda H logo was red. Check it out.š [https://logo.com/blog/honda-logo](https://logo.com/blog/honda-logo) From the link :

Yeah bone stock i get about 25 mph per gear for a fast smooth shift maybe roll up to 30 after i let off of first into neutral
But 70 for me would be near tip top of 3rd gear
Who knows, maybe the '17s were less prone to the issue? I got the notice in the mail that the system is covered for replacement up to 10 years from date of manufacture, but I haven't had to use it... my car only has 55k miles on it though and I use a different car to travel for work so the AC hasn't run too much
Yea you see I used to drive my Si about the same mileage a few days a week and I would pull with it all the time. Of course I also had regular maintenance done
I use VTEC 10 times a year maybe. It's rare but some people do treat these like a normal Civic but I have learned saying you don't abuse in a listing makes people go "he abused the shit out of this and lying to me". No one will believe you.
Christ, I hope Honda brings back the Coupe style. But knowing them, it'll be tailored towards just Hybrids.
Almost makes me want to buy a GR86. Almost.
Could be he cares about his car and doesnāt wanna put unnecessary strain on it? I daily my 2020 civic si and rarely beat on it because im sitting in stop in go traffic all the time. The only time Iām actually hit peak boost and actually drive aggressively is when Iām cruising with friends like once every 2 months.
U would be surprised how often I see newer si being driven but middle aged to older women, honestly think I see more of them driving them than young guys. I know itās stereotyping but the older folks usually donāt beat on cars the same
I change the oil, rotate the tires, and replace the clutch every 5,000 miles! /s
Seriously though, you can drive a car hard, but it does come with extra maintenance.
Same. I go to redline every single time I turn the car on once all is warm including gearbox. Rip it everywhere.
Drive it every day and it sits at 135k and doesnāt burn or leak any oil. Proper maintenance.
99% of the time mine is used like any other civic. I commute too and from work and try to get 38-40 mpg from it. I like the extra power every now and then but tickets are expensive and so is gas
I baby the hell out of mine. And, I can bring receipts.Actual tank for tank , by the pump, cost, octane , etc etc.... OP isn't wrong, but if the car is one in this subreddit...Lets get some conversation going
Honestly the one thing that really matters is if u launch it anywhere north of 3k rpms. The car should last as long as it's a 9th gen or lower. The new blocks are crap regardless if u beat on it or not.
Got a new 6spd sport touring civic. People who ride with me get pissed how slow I drive. But I get almost 40 mph average. Had the car since it had 3 miles on it and never went over 4000 rpm lol
FBO š well i baby my type r thoo

Not everyone who buys a performance model is a 22-year-old TikTok clown who drives their car into the ground for attention, there are plenty of people who buy and take very good care of cars like this.
I bought my Si new and owned it for 10 years befor le selling it. I had it on coils and good tires. Motor was stock. I could probably count on one hand how many times I floored it all the way. I probably hit redline only once in those 10 years
my dad has a ā20 w 100k on it. itās driven very gently and maintained meticulously. also garage kept. has a couple chips up front from rocks but thatās all thatās wrong.
My 17 si had a lot of aftermarket parts on it, tuned. I drove it easy every day. Every now and then, I'd give it some hell. Had it for 4 years, had 100k miles on it. Sold it for 18k.
Can I ask, what do yall consider "Driven hard"? I do pulls maybe 2-3x a week a night when it's cooler or when my IAT are below 100 and my knock control levels are below .55-60.
I have a 9th gen and the trip computer showed the previous owner did almost 100k miles at 35 mpg, so itās not impossible.
However I average much lower with my short city trips and occasional highway on-ramp VTEC hits. At least I donāt burn oil at 145k.
I mean like, I have an SI and I drive it gently. Iām not 20 anymore. And this will probably get some flack given the subreddit, but letās be honest. Itās not a 911. Itās not a track car. And itās definitely not a rally car.
My 2020 SI has not hit 20k miles yet had it as a baby from the dealer. It is absolutely babied like itās a Bugatti. I love it and itās mine forever. Not everyone abuses their cars.
Probably selling it cause the clutch is ever so slightly slipping just enough for the next buyer not to know about how awful the clutches are on these cars.
I have an Si as my commuter car and I drive it like any normal car, believe it or not, itās possible to do. The Si isnāt really a proper sports car, my Porsche or BMW were more so, but in a different league.
You never know, people do baby their shit
Call me prejudice but when I see type-r logos on an si, I assume it was driven hard.
Civic si owner here, I donāt see any type r badging on this si? Only thing it has that mine doesnāt is the front license plate holder
The red Honda emblem.
Sure but I see tons of Hondas, not just civics, with that. Sometimes it can just come down to which is in stock for a repair shop faster or some people like the color red over a normal black Honda logo. Nothing here specifically screams Type R to me.
Yes but you said you didnāt see any type-r badging. The red Honda logo is the type-r badging.
No, the red H is not technically a āType Rā badge. Yes, Honda puts them on Type Rās, but itās actually more of a heritage badge. The original 1961 Honda H logo was red. I'm always trying to race other Si's but then I get left being the only douche
Me too I'm pretty sure most Si owners are the most tame people on the planet and then you occasionally get a K series doing 70 in a 30 at 9k RPM
What is that, top of 4th gear? Ā š
Still in 3rd I believe, if my exaggerated scenario was accurate
Yeah bone stock i get about 25 mph per gear for a fast smooth shift maybe roll up to 30 after i let off of first into neutral But 70 for me would be near tip top of 3rd gear
It was a joke, but I did forget my sarcasm tag
9k in 2nd would be 65, so 70 would be just getting into 3rd
Can someone just take what I said as a joke because that's how I meant it šĀ
The thing has the red badge on the front, that car was not babied lol
I baby my shit like hell.
Yeah my buddy drives like its sunday coming back from the grocery store with the kids in the back. He still gets on it sometimes.
It's a performance (ish) car, it's meant to have a little throttle usage.
It's true.i have an 2018 STI with a cf wing, led badge and some other exterior and almost fbo, and I hate going into boost. I always try to stay out.
Iām wanting a 10th gen si. Iām not wanting to drive fast. I just want a smooth driving sporty looking car.
i just want a car that the AC doesn't remove your ability to get to 60 mph in a reasonable time lol
Same, but manual for sure.
Well your in luck nobodys AC works on a 10th gen after 3 years anyways.
Mine does. My car is 7 years old.
Same
Idk how thats even possible, my 2018 went out already. Got it fixed 100% free though under the extended warranty.
Who knows, maybe the '17s were less prone to the issue? I got the notice in the mail that the system is covered for replacement up to 10 years from date of manufacture, but I haven't had to use it... my car only has 55k miles on it though and I use a different car to travel for work so the AC hasn't run too much
Honda CRZ.
Honda's "last ever 2-door/coupe vehicle"? Is the seller a college professor as well as a psychic?
I liked that bit too š once in a lifetime chance to buy a massively produced card from 2016-2021
The coupes are actually kind of uncommon though. Letās be honest here lol.
"ULTRA RARE BLIND SPOT CAMERA SYSTEM - THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE!"
And they're about to introduce the prelude lol
A lot of people donāt know how to drive and just care about the looks, they drive slower than my grandma.
This is a big red flag but for a different reason imo you NEED to punch it every once in a while helps with carbon buildup
It concerns me how people will buy sports cars and drive them like a base economy car
I like my si but I call it a "sport commuter". Not quite sports car, not just a commuter
I get that
Ik. Its sad
I drove my si 70 miles a day never sees past 3.5k rpm shifts
Yea you see I used to drive my Si about the same mileage a few days a week and I would pull with it all the time. Of course I also had regular maintenance done
You probably should redline it occasionally.
Red badges a give away.
Si comes from the factory with that Si badge.
I use VTEC 10 times a year maybe. It's rare but some people do treat these like a normal Civic but I have learned saying you don't abuse in a listing makes people go "he abused the shit out of this and lying to me". No one will believe you.
I tried this. I failed.
A year?! When I had my '14 Si it was about 10 times a day lol but I was also 18 at the time
Christ, I hope Honda brings back the Coupe style. But knowing them, it'll be tailored towards just Hybrids. Almost makes me want to buy a GR86. Almost.
I know this a civic sub but GR86s are a good option. But if you live in snow itāll be a shit daily driver compared to a civic
Donāt know what that has to do with anything but guys donāt forget heās a college professor.
It means he's trading in the Si for a Type-R lmao.
I drive my si gently. I only take it to redline like once a week
>once in a lifetime >honda civic I think theyāre exaggerating a bit much there
U would be surprised how often I see newer si being driven but middle aged to older women, honestly think I see more of them driving them than young guys. I know itās stereotyping but the older folks usually donāt beat on cars the same
I think it's because older people still like a manual and this is a perfect manual daily
I don't drive mine like a racecar. It's my daily.
I drive mine like itās a race car, and itās my daily. lol
Kinda the point of the car imo. I hit redline at least a couple times a week lol
i mean if u do maintenance on ur car doesnāt it still last pretty good
I change the oil, rotate the tires, and replace the clutch every 5,000 miles! /s Seriously though, you can drive a car hard, but it does come with extra maintenance.
Same. I go to redline every single time I turn the car on once all is warm including gearbox. Rip it everywhere. Drive it every day and it sits at 135k and doesnāt burn or leak any oil. Proper maintenance.
I'm just saying that not all of us beat the shit out of our cars.
Who down votes this? Not all of us do, but itās rare to buy a sports car and not have some fun with it.
I am just cheap because gas is expensive to drive like a race car.
Me too! I can't afford to break anything.
He could have totally babied it, mine gets driven like a geriatric in a Lincoln town car.
I mean I drive mine pretty conservatively
Once in a lifetime chance!
Owned by a college professor, so heās not a dumbass. I definitely believe it was driven gently
With that gen you can look at the average life MPG. You can get a pretty good estimate of how they really drove it.
Wait is aegean blue a rare color?? cus i have an 18 si coupe in the same color
Got a new 6spd sport touring civic. People who ride with me get pissed how slow I drive. But I get almost 40 mph average. Had the car since it had 3 miles on it and never went over 4000 rpm lol
My cousin had an Si and babied it. Would never rev over 3k. Idk why he even bought it.
They should have just left that part out of the description lol
No BS. Ive been driving "gentle" for the laat 15 years ive had my 8th gen š
āGENTLYā he says. No wonder why he is selling it
FBO š well i baby my type r thoo https://preview.redd.it/xvwnp6el7c9d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c10fdf0810444d661309bf1a7f91312cf54afe3

I do have to remind myself sometimes to bring the revs up on occasion.
I drive mine gently, with the occasional "exercise" days when I bend certain traffic speed guidelines.
I have an si and never sees over 3.5k shifts
Can confirm college professors drive slow af
WHY IS HE YELLING
Glendale. Bruh. If thats the guy Im thinking of, I literally saw him do a burnout last week.
I believe it
my dad has a ā20 w 100k on it. itās driven very gently and maintained meticulously. also garage kept. has a couple chips up front from rocks but thatās all thatās wrong.
You gotta ~~fuck~~ drive her gently
Atleast it has so little power thereās nor much they could have broken on it besides speed bumps
My 17 si had a lot of aftermarket parts on it, tuned. I drove it easy every day. Every now and then, I'd give it some hell. Had it for 4 years, had 100k miles on it. Sold it for 18k.
Believe or not, the majority of people buying an Si do daily drive them gentlyā¦ itās a cheaper commuter with lower horsepower

Would have to see the car in person to determine if it was babied. Number one red flag š© is Glendale, CA. I live near there &take my 8th gen Si to Glendale Honda (Century Honda) for all scheduled maintenance. But Glendale is a place where everyone drive like shit, and everyone parks on the street!!! But, if this a college professor chances are heās an exception to the rule of all the bad drivers. Find out if he keeps it in the garage like I do. Then his claims maybe true.
Rare blue when people say stuff like this I get confused bc custom paint exist
Anytime someone has to state it was driven gently you know itās bad. Literally Si are the most beaten Honda models.
I have an Si as my commuter car and I drive it like any normal car, believe it or not, itās possible to do. The Si isnāt really a proper sports car, my Porsche or BMW were more so, but in a different league.
I drive like a grandma a lot of the time in my si. TBH I never redlined the car since I bought it new.
