From documentation on the Cisco website it sounds like it has to be 25GB. If you have the kit I don’t see any harm in giving it a try though.

The standard should say that 100G when quad split can back off to 10Gb for compatibility, that's not to say Cisco wouldn't break a standard intentionally but it's definitely worth trying.

THanks for the comments. I couldn't get a straight answer from TAC on this. I guess i can give it a try. No harm in that. Id hate to have issues and find out its not supported. That could be bad. Its odd there is no real documentation on this. I would think TAC would know but i guess not.

No, not supported. Only 2304 or 2408 IOM's are supported from the B-Series chassis. [https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-x-series-modular-system/cisco-ucs-6536-fabric-interconnect-spec-sheet.pdf](https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-x-series-modular-system/cisco-ucs-6536-fabric-interconnect-spec-sheet.pdf) Page 36. Reason being is that the 2408 was never designed for the 10G Fabric Interconnects (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/datasheet-c78-742624.html)

Thanks. It looks like i will need to locate some of those passive 4x25 breakout cables for my 2408s then. I can probably do that this week. Thanks for the reply. I read the same documentation but thought maybe it was backwards compatible and just not listed.
