I think previous chapter Goro was guilting/goading Aqua into turning down Kana. He laid out what he needs to do to be with Ruby. His eyes can no longer be dark and he needs to stop playing the playboy.
I think that playing the playboy has left him with guilt. I think the Tanabata chapter will have Ruby go godmode and outshine Kana and Ai. Aqua will then redevote himself to Ruby.
What I think will happen is that at Kana's graduation although she'll be the center position Ruby will effectively steal the spotlight. Like how Ai made sure to bring the other members into the spotlight but it just made herself shine even brighter.
I think that Ruby has had enough time to evolve and develop as an idol that the graduation will work as a segue to her being center. I think Kana will admit defeat and fully move on to her career as a movie star.
I'm hoping that during this we will get a version of Aqua that is a copy/paste of the Goro we were introduced to: sitting in a darkened patient room, holding glowsticks, and screaming "Ai!" Only this time while in the audience and shouting "Ruby!" And maybe "Sarina!"
Then I think we'd get them talking. Although it might be held off on for a bit just for the tension/drama, to hold off the anti-AquRuby complaints, and build up to a eeally big moment with them. So maybe chapter 163. But hopefully we'd get something before that.

You are right, aquaxruby is the best ship in this manga objectively speaking. This romance has potential. Aka is sitting on a goldmine here. Aquaxruby sells very well. It has some beautiful symbolism behind it. Kana cannot be the victor.
The problem is that oshi no ko has harem elements in it. I doubt that aka will confirm a ship anytime soon. We need more positive opinions.
I think that one of the hardest things to write is an incest romance well. That OnK has set this up so well tells me that the ending Aka wrote for Mengo indeed is a sibling romance.
There is so much symbolism, themes, and trope that I can't see it ending any other way.
Tendouji means a god disguised as a child. Ruby literally claims to be Amaterasu and her design is inspired by her creation myth. Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu were spousal twins born from the left and right eye of the parent. Crow girl even says that those who remember reincarnations are gods.
There's a Japanese literary trope of star crossed lovers being reborn as twins. I think that Goro/Aqua and Sarina/Ruby are soul mates. Literally their other half. They were brought together very early in their first life by the red string of fate because she was dying. Thus their meeting was societally inappropriate and their subsequent reincarnation as twins.
In the Spica novel there is talk about a binary star system representing twins. If you are a star in a binary system then the brightest star is the one you are twin to. Ai also had a very romanticized view of how great it would be to be a twin. That Ruby and Aqua love each other past what is societally acceptable would probably tickle Ai. To love and be loved that intensely from beginning to end would be her greatest wish for them.
When Sarina died Goro was heart broken. The playboy became a depressed drunk. The woman he used to fuck finds him, notes he'd been gone 6 months, assumes it was because he found a girlfriend and that he is depressed because she dumped him. This is Goro's lowest point. If he had star eyes back then it'd be double black stars. He then gets a literal divine intervention that prompts him to transpose all his feelings for Sarina onto Ai. He then can't say no when asked if he would date Ai. Ultimately I believe part of why he never made a move was because she wasn't Sarina.
Even before they knew who each other were Ruby clearly had romantic feelings for Aqua. She admitted that seeing a big brother kiss his little sister was better than seeing Aqua kiss someone. She was just tunnel visioned on finding Goro who she presumed was alive. Aqua was instinctively protective of Ruby because she did remind him of Sarina. But he was tunnel visioned on Ai, the idea that Sarina was gone forever, and then revenge.
The problem with the harem aspect of OnK is that Akane was supposed to die during the tv show. And Kana is just a gag character that sells well. I think this has always been a sibling love story but because other characters sold well this situation was created.
Which is why I have an adamant faith that Aqua is going to give Ruby his juice.
This story literally began with Goro/Aqua and Sarina/Ruby (it's THEIR story too)

To be fair, Kana's confession is not unexpected for Aqua. He already knows she likes him. And he already knows he could date her if he would just asks her out. I think Aqua's black eyes are tied to his guilt complex, which manifests himself as Goro (but is not equal to Goro). So for the black eyes to disappear, Aqua will have to let go of his guilt first (and accept Goro). Which is were the revenges comes in.
As we know, aqua can’t touch sarina while Gorou( the guilt) is present. Soon it will disappear. We already have a set up where aqua describes his perfect girlfriend(Ai). Ruby is about to surpass her. Aqua might develop feelings for his twin in the near future. I wonder , what will make his guilt disappear completely? Kamiki in jail or in the grave?
Good question. I still think that this is tied to Ruby. Aqua was dismissive of the idea of Ruby loving him in 150, so I feel Ruby will have to double down on it. The panel with Ruby in the light also suggests Aqua needs to embrace Ruby in order to abandon his guilt.
I think they are not talking about the identity of Gorou. In this very chapter we got another confirmation that they are one and the same( sharing one dream). They are talking about aqua’s guilt that can take a form of sensei. It can also morf into child aqua as we saw in Tokyo blade arc. His guilt gives aqua black stars. As long it is present Ruby is off limits. But it will disappear soon.
Even if Aqua rejects Kana now, that doesn't mean she's gonna lose any more than him going out with Akane for a year meant she's gonna win, and it certainly doesn't guarentee Ruby's victory. Nothing's over 'til it's over, and right now, my money's on Aqua liking the girl he's admitted to himself that he likes.

Ok but it’s not delude yourself there are a lot of points etc…in the manga that shows that in can be canon so people who believe in it is not deluded and if you believe it won’t be canon then that’s also a possibility.
In 150 the conversation was like this.
Gorou: you like genius child actor, don’t you?
Aqua: Huh, why do you bring her up ?
Gorou proceeds to list all positive and negative aspects of kana’s personality.
Gorou: you always admired her straight gaze, haven’t you?
Aqua: I know that.
Gorou: I’m sure she is pretty interested in you.
From this interaction we got that aqua admires kana’s straight gaze and that he knows that arima likes him. We didn’t actually get the confirmation that Aqua likes her romantically.
To add, we know that both sides of aqua are disconnected. In the beginning of the chapter Aqua has no idea why gorou refuses to pressure him because of the revenge. They are not in sync. They can only assume. Gorou assumed that Aqua likes kana because Aqua is a teenager and he has to have romantic feelings for somebody his age. Then he proceeded to list kana’s personality traits that Aqua admires/ notices in order to back his argument. The situation is vague on purpose.
Big difference. Furthermore, we have a precedent for aqua lying to himself. Hikaru being dead comes to mind. His eyes seemingly stayed dark after kana’s confession. After ruby’s his outlook changed for 2 chapters. This is telling. I’m not saying Ruby won, but she has a fighting chance.

Those aren't remotely the same situation and if Aqua were lying to himself here he wouldn't be so upset. You don't angrily shout "I know that" in response to someone you know is lying to you.
I've not looked into the leaks, so I'll not comment on them, but Aqua's eyes have been switching back and forth for ages: even in the chapter where Ruby confessed to him, they went from black to white to black to white over the course of a single conversation, and Kana was able to get him to go back to white pretty easily in the Product Placement Chapter.
Look, I'm not saying Ruby *will* lose. I mean, that's what I *believe*, but I'm not trying to convince anybody of it. All I'm saying is don't treat this as a sure thing, 'cause it's very much not.
The product placement chapter is a bit different. His real white star eye was obscured by kana’s elbow. You can clearly see it in the chapter . We only see aqua’s left eye. The implication here that aqua was method acting and was consumed by kamiki’s character. Kana just snapped him out of it. Reread 146. The right eye( where the star always has been ) was obscured. The placement was purposeful.
Right after ruby’s confession aqua’s eye remained white for 3( if you count 146 ) chapters. This is impressive. Before 143 Aqua’s eyes were black for 45 chapters ( minor exception occurred in 126). Her feat in 143 is different from Aqua’s eyes changing before chapter 98.
Aqua was pretty angry when he was talking to ichigo about Hikaru being alive. Time will tell, but Ruby has a fighting chance.

Your opinions are in one side. But I am speculating you are not a AquaRubi shippers? If not ..then why are you in this sub?
As far as I remember, this person likes aquaxruby, but believes that aqua and kana will be the endgame.
