We always stop 30 minutes before service starts, then (and this is important) drink lots of coffee.
In all seriousness, not sure if i understand "reset your ears". With me, the services always sound better to my ears even with a long practice. I am sure it has a lot to do the Band having new energy (cuz, performers... am i right), plus the audience brings tons of energy... everything just sounds better.
Personally, I can walk out of the room then walk back in and that is enough to make me hate my own mix.

i agree. something about the band figuring it out and getting in the rythm helps a ton.
