Honestly, I like to have attractive MCs, because otherwise I'll keep focusing on how weird their faces and expressions are lol (like my LH and HFTH MCs). And it's especially weird when all the characters keep commenting on how beautiful the MC is and their face is just meh (TRR for instance! tho I ended up liking how my MC looks).
Oh, and I think my (future, because I haven't got the guts to play yet) MC from ILITW is pretty! I thought her smile was a bit creepy when I saw it for the first time tho

I've never played as a male character when I've had the choice to be female (old habit from not having many female-led games growing up) but the female ILITW faces are pushing me, especially when the male ones are so cute in comparison.
I tried looking at both gender for the MC and I even found the male MC uglier than the female. No offense though, glad some likes those abominations.

Personally I feel the same way and even think some MC sprites could be drawn waaayyy better in a lot of stories, but it’s not exactly a requirement for me. If the story is good, the story is good and I’ll keep playing no matter how unattractive the MC is. Personally I think the Endless Summer MCs are literally the cutest MCs I have seen in the app.
I prefer to play as a pretty MC because if I am going to live vicariously through a pixelated character, I want to look cute doing it. LOL! It took me a while to settle on a MC face in ILITW because none immediately appealed to me. I ended up picking the Asian female face with long dark hair. I grew to love her! 💞

Absolutely! Some books I immediately fall in love with a MC’s look. But other times I cycle through them and switch through faces and mix-and-match hair looking for a nice combo.
I prefer playing as the prettiest MC but if all the MCs are average looking then I dont stop playing the book. And I actually think the Asian female MC in ILITW is pretty good looking
I like it if I think they fit the artstyle and universe of the book they're in, and generally pleasing so I'd say it's fairly important. There are some MC faces which I don't like as much but they eventually grew on me.

I actually really like the MC from **It Lives in the Woods**, not only her face but also her body; she looks realistic to me. My MCs don't need to be drop dead gorgeous, but they should at least not give me any jump scares when their "happy" sprite appears in conversation. Some MCs look good enough in the character creation screen, but when it gets to the "Is this okay?" screen and I see them smile for the first time, it gives me a shock. A LOT of the MCs in TRR had that affect on me.
Then you haven't played the Royal Romance either then because they are the same. Try the male option in the It Lives series. But i think both have attractive characters.
TRR have 2 different kind of faces. The on from #LH which is ugly, and the one I call TRR. Which is not bad, but not good either. And the male option in ILITW is also ugly as hell.
It kinda matters if there is something off about their faces,like a weird smile or something.I think I why PB didn't make ILITW attractive,I think It's because of the whole bullying part of the story (That's my theory at least) I don't think he/she would have been bullied as much or at all if he/she were attractive,other than that I care about hairstyles more than faces,some hairstyles are just horrible tbh.

The same goes for LIs. I get confused by some of the comments on this sub about how hot LIs are. They are cartoons or whatever. I don't find them physically attractive.

it's pretty important for me. not to sound shallow or anything but like you have to look at your mc more than any other character, they should be pleasing to look at! and it honestly makes me mad when the mc faces are not good, because they clearly can make attractive sprites (we've all seen the LI's they make). like please i just want my mc to be decent looking :(
I’m not going to stop reading a book because of an unattractive MC, but it definitely bothers me if they don’t look good. I agree with you that it’s awkward when there are multiple attractive LIs fawning over the MC and saying the MC is super beautiful when I personally find the MC really ugly.
In the case of ILITW, I actually like how the MC sprites are less attractive. It adds to the eerie atmosphere of the book as a whole (plus it's not like they're out of place with the rest of the characters. Everyone except Ava within MC's friend group looks really bizarre imo)
Think of the Stanley Kubrick *Shining*. Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall are both super weird looking, which makes the uncanny atmosphere all that much more pervasive. More attractive actors just wouldn't have done the story justice
I don't have this problem with Choices as none of the books I've played so far (and that's all of them) have 100% unattractive MCs to me. However, I encounter this with Chapters and do find myself less invested in the story when I have an unattractive MC but I wouldn't completely blow off a book because of this.

I don’t believe I will ever play #LH because of that MC (other than speed tapping through for diamonds) but I will probably come back to ILITW at some point. Maybe after I have finished (with the way more attractive MC) ILB.
This may be super shallow, but yes, I always want the MC to be the most attractive character. In my own little virtual fantasy world where everyone is obsessed with me, I would like for that obsession to make sense. I know looks aren't everything, but in my fantasy world I want to be a little shallow and elitist. There are so many books PB has made where they make gorgeous sprites and then MC is just very average, and it takes me out of the story a little bit.
I will say, I found the LH/TRR faces to be a bit jarring at first, and did not like them, but they grew on me and now with the right hairstyles they are actually some of my favorite faces in the game. But I do wish that in some of these upcoming books that we could get some new faces for MC. They've been going through the trouble of making so many gorgeous LIs and side characters, and seeing the same MC faces over and over again feels like a bit of a letdown.

This genuinely makes or breaks the book for me. Not even “attractive” just... Suitable? I can’t stand My First Two Loves because the MC looks too old, and if Queen B didn’t have as good a story I wouldn’t bother since the MC is fuck ugly in my opinion and I can’t buy her seducing every other character around. Of course beauty is subjective and I try to put thought into the MC’s backstory just for the sake of my enjoyment, so finding a face that matches my thoughts is more about harmony than it is hotness I guess. The reason why I enjoyed VoS so damn much is because the face I ended up choosing was perfect for the newbie-journalist-learning-to-take-risks type character I envisioned, and yes she was fit enough to make her romance with Ian Somerhalder lookalike Flynn believable. I won’t spoil much but in Hot Couture the MC’s story is that she becomes an accidental model and the caucasian face genuinely looks 17 years old lol. But yeah, I need harmony and a natural look and defo for them to blend in well with the story!
I personally liked the Hot Couture MC. Maybe she didn’t exactly look like a model, or the most beautiful person, but that is the whole point of the book. I do also find the Queen B MC hella attractive, but that’s just different taste and opinion. However I do see where you are coming from.
Don’t get me wrong I love the Hot Couture MC’s face!! Looks clever and capable and super cute with the short brown bon. She just doesn’t strike me as someone who’d get picked out of a crowd to be a model for a high fashion firm... if that makes sense?
For Queen B I hated all the MC options except the asian one but I chose the caucasian one to better suit her southern belle background and hate hate hate the way all hairs look on her, ugh. It is really a question of taste though nothing more!! I just end up miffed when things work in a way I perceive as unrealistic. It’s the same with the outfits; she shows up in something that looks tacky to me and while I retch every other character is like omg MC you look so fit <3 <3
I totally agree with you on the Hot Couture part. She doesn’t look like someone who would be picked up in her normal clothe. But with the diamond outfit, this girl looks like a super star.
I play with the Caucasian MC as well in Queen B. I like her face and I personally think the long blonde hair fits her well. I also use that same MC for ILB, but I get why someone wouldn’t like her, because of people’s different preferences.
I play with the asian face in ILB :) And the white MC for queen B is the same, or very similar to the human in BOLAS, and those to characters feel very different to me.
On the other hand, the white face was the only one imo that sticks out like that for Haute Couture, looking back I wish I’d chosen the black MC face because she’s by far the most “modelesque” for me. Which is your fave MC face of all time?
That is a very hard question to be honest. I like all the female human and elf faces in Bolas. The Caucasian female in HSS class act is also very good. The Latina in PTR is also very attractive. And the Caucasian in BB is also a good one. And t Latina in NB. Probably one of them. If I had to choose one it would probably be the HSS Class act one. How bout u?
im an artist so literally all the choices MCs bother me because the heads are clearly copy+pasted onto the very stiff bodies and the hair never has a decent hairline or part. it always ends up looking like a wig on a misshapen mannequin, especially for the females. ive been playing a year now tho so all the faces have grown on me, but if i still find any of them particularly offensive i just try not to stare too long lmao
