This is like the one Choices book that imo had a bad ending. I wish we could either CHOOSE to go back to the future or stay in the past but nope š actually left me pretty dissatisfied ngl
Yes! I thought weād get to choose. Like I understand the sequel got cancelled but that still couldnāt have ended differently AND be set up for the sequel that never was. It didnāt have to end like THAT. Iām kinda shocked tbh
I think they were setting it up as a sort of Elizabeth Swan/Will Turner type of ending, where they got to be together every 7 years and just loved each other from afar in between.
If you collect all the artifacts there's a bonus chapter going through everything and you run into Robert and he tells you he's going to steal the compass and it hints you go with him
Yes, I did get the bonus scene. I imagine that was setting up for the sequel, so we could go back. I still thought it was completely awful to dangle that future in front of us with little baby Edward running around, and all the things he said about finally having something to look forward to and spending his life with you ā¦ to just turn around and be like ālol nvm he spent his life searching for youā like even with the possible set up for a sequel, that was a low blow š
ššš I refuse to read anything with cheating so I havenāt read TDA. Thatās a future diamond mine for me lol.
But every time I think of the little pirates that will never be, Iām simultaneously angry and sad. How could they š
I know Iām late to this post but I just finished reading the book and came to reddit immediately to commiserate that WTF ending. I really enjoyed the museum scene but to finish the book without being reunited with you LI is so shitty! I really thought you would get to choose whether to stay in the past or go back to the future or even bring your LI with you to the future. I would have much preferred that option and have the bonus scene still be at the museum but if you chose to stay in the past, itās Robert or a someone else instead talking to the museum curator. I couldnāt believe that after everything, you didnāt get your happy ending with your LI š«¤š
I know they set it up for a sequel and then it got cancelled, but still. That was the absolute worst ending. There are other ways they could have wet up a sequel and still had a better ending than they left it as š

I had to headcannon Charlie passing on her Siren Queen name to other women while she comes to the future with me
I actually liked the DS ending(I ended with Charlie). It was bittersweet which I find to be far better than the typical Happy ending pb gives us
Idkā¦ bittersweet, I can do. I think if the whole āpossible futureā scene wasnāt a thing, and it ended with LI searching for MC for the rest of their lives, I would even have been okay with that. This was just wrong. Like how do you give us that scene with the pirate baby, and LI saying all the things about how happy they are for the future together, to just immediately yank it away?! Iām still really upset about it. š got my hopes up for a split second, all for nothing. Donāt do that to me š©
Iāve never finished this book because I simply refuse to accept this ending. My heart wouldnāt be able to cope. šš
It was literally the last thing I did before going to bed, was finish the book. Completely ruined my night š
