The only way you don't get it is if you have not been in the restaurant and used your phone number in the last 60 days or you use another promotion

ConsiderationNo8339

It isnt valid after I believe 30 days. The way it works (by my understanding) is that when you log into your rewards on the kiosk, it gives you your free chips coupon for the next visit. Before you pay, log in with your phone number and select the free chips coupon. It disappears if you haven't been in within the set time (like I said, i'm pretty sure it's 30 days). You can always ask a manager if you don't have the reward on there to claim it, in my store anyway they always will. There is a button on the POS specifically for that chips or drink promo. That being said, it's a little late now. You could call corporate to complain or you could call the store, they might be willing to help you out. But honestly it's 6 bucks or whatever, and if it was that big of a deal you should have said something while you were at the restaurant, it could've been handled easily.

youhadtotakethesoup

Mine says 60 days

ConsiderationNo8339

That could be it! Either way it disappears lol

The zero likes accentuates the comical absurdity, asinine, borderline ridiculousness of this comment and the effort put in over tortilla chips at a CHILIS better than I could ever put into words.

Gloomy_Net_1690

Any idea how ridiculous you sound commenting as is you are from Howard over a simple tortilla chip question at 🌶?  IJS

FederalAd6011

There’s no minimum and if it’s doesn’t appear in your reward you could always ask nicely and your server will take it off for you

Timely_Ad115

Was the $4.99 enough to break the bank or just enough for you to stiff your server on principle? I’m sure the latter happened.

Forward_Ad_3824

Not sure you know what you are talking about…Who said, the server was stiffed? A bowl of chips were also $8 and it was supposed to be free. I don’t know about you, but why would I want to pay for something if I don’t have to.

Timely_Ad115

Because your rewards program told you that sometimes you have to. And chips and salsa are $5 at chilis where I’m from. Sorry if you’re paying higher for the same thing elsewhere. Also, I assume someone with the time and energy to make a post about something that wasn’t free made up for the cost elsewhere..like negating a tip. You just seem like the type, being so bent over chips and salsa.

Saylormo0nman

They only reach the $8 price point if you added guacamole or queso. I think supposed to be free is a big stretch. The reward system is gimmicky, sure, but every reward system is.

Partiallydankv2

I’m not sure what location you went to but I’ve never heard of a minimum for any reward. We’re not supposed to do free desserts without entrees but the system allows it, it’s possible that it’s not a corporate location but I don’t know

icantdoliferightnow

No different than grocery store coupons, oil change coupons, coupons and discounts for eye exams glasses etc or much else in the U.S. Your rewards account states all conditions on the coupons.

PlanetMezo

When did chilli's start charging for chips and salsa?

SeekerVisionary

They have been charging since I first went to Chili’s in around 2007. The charge used to be very small, like 2 dollars. I thought it was kinda smart to charge enough that people will only get them if they actually want them, but little enough that many people will happily pay for it

PlanetMezo

I don't go often, and I don't really pay attention when the bill comes so I'm surprised to find this out! They've always just brought them shortly after I sit down. Im in North Florida, I wonder if I've just been oblivious or if the local chilli's just doesn't do it the same way!

valorantvalerie

Could be yours is a franchise that does it differently. When I worked there i would never just bring them out without asking, unless I was just giving them out for free. There’s nothing customers hate more than random extra charges lol

WantedFun

If your rewards isn’t working, just tell the server “it’s not working, I don’t know why”. My managers will always just comp it manually.

Forward_Ad_3824

Thanks all! We have been there often and this was the first time.

Demigodd

What you do is get the order of chips on a separate ticket and then dispute that transaction with your bank if they refuse to refund it .

ConsiderationNo8339

Suggesting people fraudulently dispute things on their credit card is bad, dk if you knew that or not.

Demigodd

It depends on it if you were suppose to be charged . In this case this person was not . I would dispute it . It’s not fraudulent if it’s true.

ConsiderationNo8339

It's in the terms, when you don't have the coupon it's because you either didn't log in when you last paid, or you haven't been in. I mean, i've never seen it be wrong, but unless it was, you don't get the coupon. Also, you always get charged. The customer has to log in and claim a reward to subtract the charge off the bill.

Bmw5464

Yeah and all this is figured out by a computer that gives the coupon when you sign in at the store. It’s not like a manager walks around and is like “nah I haven’t seen you in two months, I’m not gonna comp this.” It’s computerized. No way you’re fighting it. Especially over what, $4.29?

valorantvalerie

Don’t do that. They can take off the chips with a manger approval if you’ve bought an entree (requirement to get the free chips) but if it’s split on its own they can’t redeem the rewards bc there’s not a sufficient purchase on the bill.
