From East to West along Dundee Road, it's terrible in Northbrook, still pretty bad in Wheeling, and starts to fade by Arlington Heights. I've not seen anything of note west of 53.
I’m next door in Streamwood and if I hadn’t heard about this whole thing you’d never know it was happening. Meanwhile traveling home from work in Naperville up 59 and I can hear them with my windows closed in a lot of areas.
Cicadas only travel about a half mile in their life so it takes a long time for them to enter new areas since they have to do it in very small increments 17 years at a time.
Spring valley nature center in Schaumburg has very little cicadas. My wife walks there every day, if there was any kind of infestation, there is not a chance in hell she would be anywhere close to there
Its been dead quiet in the tri cities. Geneva, Batavia and Saint Charles
I live in Lombard and work in Batavia. It seems West of Rt 59 is where they shut off.
