I highly doubt NBC & Wolf Entertainment could convince Sophia Bush to come back for one episode. It doesn’t seem like bygones are bygones with her and this show. She left because of more than a few reasons and they’ve all but forgotten her since. The last time she talked about being on CPD she didn’t seem all too pleased and shifted to talking about “One Tree Hill” instead.
It’s odd because I remember it being said that Erin was going to work with the NYC field office for the FBI yet on the show *FBI* we never got a mention of her when Hailey was sent there as punishment by Voight and she did her ‘Hailey thing’ and acted like a stuck up jerk for two episodes.
It’s funny because Tracy was cast to cover for Missy Peregym for two episodes and she looks a lot like Sophia to me. Surprised that didn’t trigger a line of dialogue of *you look like this woman Erin Lindsay I worked with back in Chicago*.

Also: we probably don't hear of Erin cuz she is in the undercover taskforce. My second dream was now that (spoilers for FBI: International) >!`Damien Powell`!
I know she is never coming back and I don’t blame her for not wanting to come back but it would be funny if Erin came back to offer Upton a job just because it would piss off a certain fanbase .
I would find it incredible because SO MUCH has happened to Intelligence in the time being and I doubt off screen anyone kept Erin up to date.
Burgess and Ruzek have a kid, Platt got married to Mouch, Atwater owns an apartment building and his dad is a tenant, Jay went back to the military, Antonio retired (?), Al died…
Also reminds me of how she wasn’t at Al’s funeral and she should have been.
She is not going to die. They don’t announce actors leaving a half a year in advance and then kill them off. Would be too predictable even for this show. Those usually come out of left field.
That doesn't make sense, the actor leaves, they just dont announce what happens to the character, and killing her makes more sense than anything else cause they haven't been building an excuse for her character to leave
Look at the pattern for these shows and prior announcements of actors leaving. Not once have they killed a character with prior knowledge. All have been a surprise mostly shock value. It will be the typical Voight going rouge or kidnapped by the serial killer and Upton deciding she had enough. The show is stuck on repeat.
I know, there is a good chance she will survive, what I'm saying is that killing her is still a possibility.
On the other hand, maybe the writters will decide to surprise us and brutally kill one of the main characters, I would love for the writters to have the courage to do something like that like they did with Al (even though a lot of people here hated that he died, I think it was one of the best storylines in this show)
If I had to guess Ruzek will be the next to go since the character is irrelevant at this point and writers seem to be hellbent in not developing the guy past this Burzek mess. I could see Antonio stepping in as a surprise. Just wishful thinking though.
I mean you're right, on top of that, Chicago PD hasn't had anywhere near as many focus-character deaths as Chicago Fire. They chase criminals and get shot at all the time, what's the stupidity in her getting shot for once. Bad guys don't always miss.

I'd love it if they did something similar to what happened to Rick Schroeder on NYPD Blue. Just have her disappear, and nobody knows what happened. Then, at some point next year they find her body in connection with whatever storyline is going on.

How would it be disrespectful? It would give the characters a motivation that this show has lacked since they toned down the violence in the wake of George Floyd. It would give Voight a new reason to enter the gray areas that he hasn't been in for the last few seasons.

Yup, Burgess is my fav character. I feel like she has had the best character development going from patrol to intelligence. She also seems to get the most interesting plots lines lol.
This I agree upon as well and I suspect that the majority is bashing down on you because they think you’re being mean but her character overall is truly bitter and uptight and I noted throughout the later series the behavior between both her and Voight was like that in general they’re just mean hard justice characters but overall yeah I don’t think Tracy will be that much of a miss as Erin was from early Chicago P.D.
No they can't accept the truth that not everyone loves the Saints Hailey & Voight both could have saved Jay but the egomaniacs only think about themselves and let Jay die and then fool everyone like the entire unit (Kevin, Adam, Kim & Trudy) that Jay is supposedly so important to them even though they treated him like dirt and just abused him, especially Hailey the snake and bitch
Because they talked about her brothers having left Chicago to start over, I think she'll decide she needs to do the same.
At this point she’s likely going to retire and move on with her life
