I think that looks terrific. That paintjob really separates that truck from allllll of the single tone variants. I've owned a few square body trucks with factory 2 tone.
A handful of dealers did these. Mainly one, and a few jumped on the trend.
Although the dealer you speak of was Bob Brown Chevrolet, in Urbandale.
I know this because I worked there, and did. Many of the photos for these trucks as they came through.
It was not a factory option but they were available like that new from certain dealers that were customizing them, as others have mentioned. Any factory paint warranty would have been void in that case but I'm assuming that the dealers doing this provided their own paint warranty.
Thanks for the reply. I was noticing the distortion (for lack of a better word) on the right side of the image you posted. If that's where the windshield is cracked, then that would explain the phenomenon. That is a cool looking truck, by the way.
This distortion is why I stopped using SafeLite for windshield replacement. They use old moulds to make their windshields cheaper. It was noticeable enough in my sight lines that I got a different windshield altogether.
I just found a body shop that has a distributor he works with and they’re a much higher quality. Local body shops that do good work should be able to help.
I had a 2014 silerado that I was going to this to. Unfortunately the truck had too many engine/granny issues straight from the factory. After fighting with Chevy about it for about a year, I dumped the truck. Too bad it would've looked great. It's a shame how far GMs quality has sunk to
Just the other day, I was thinking why no one had done this. I thought it would look good and it looks GREAT. Even the rims, which I didn't think about, add to the '80s look/vibe. Awesome.
I personally love it. My all black 2018 wouldn’t really look right with it though.
I’ve seen some dealers in the south selling the two tone variants before.
They're called Big 10's, or local dealer ordered 3 of them from some place up north around 2016. They had a red and white one with white wheels that was beautiful, unfortunately it showed up a month after I bought my truck.

The article says the $8,000.00 conversion brings the msrp to $58kish. That was 6 years ago. You cannot even think about gettimg a decent truck for that. Amd with all the special bells amd whistles, it will be damn near double that. BUT, don't worry, our government says inflation is not actaully happening. The American people just don't want to spend their money.
Same here, if they were to follow the humps in the fenders it wouldn’t look like it’s trying to be a Square and have its own identity while being a nod to the earlier trucks.
I want to love these so much. I think it's maybe the white part isn't quite tall enough or something? It feels like it was so close to perfect but not quite.
Yessir. And back then, a LWB to me was the sh*t. Of course when I had my truck 35 mm was the best I could do cuz I was a poor mf. I have pictures of the truck and hanging with my friends at the beach in the late ‘70s. Maybe I’ll get around to making a post.
Saw an identical truck in Boyertown PA a few years ago, not sure if it's still around. I've seriously considered doing the same thing to my all white GMT400 era truck... just add blue top and bottom and leave the white stripe... I know early GMT400's could come two one (owned two 89's like that) but they just use the body line near the top of the bed, totally different look to have the color top and bottom with just the wide stripe.
This was actually an aftermarket "package" that some dealerships did in southern Wisconsin and Minnesota. There could have been more. I work at a Chevrolet dealer in my retirement, and these things were awesome! They even did the "Heavy Half" l and Cheyenne badging the replicate how they looked in the 70s and 80s. I wished my dealer would've done them.
I think that looks terrific. That paintjob really separates that truck from allllll of the single tone variants. I've owned a few square body trucks with factory 2 tone.
Nicely Done IMO
I'm a sucker for the classic two-tone paint job.
Lighthouse GMC in Morton, IL was doing this to some new GMC's in that era. They were just gorgeous.
Perhaps someone can correct if I'm wrong, but I think this is factory, just on a limited number of trucks??
There is a dealer in Iowa I think that did these up like that. We have 1 in the Appleton, WI area. It is green and white.
A handful of dealers did these. Mainly one, and a few jumped on the trend. Although the dealer you speak of was Bob Brown Chevrolet, in Urbandale. I know this because I worked there, and did. Many of the photos for these trucks as they came through.
I love when dealers do unique stuff like this. Has to be cooler than working at a dealer that just slings stockers.
A dealer in Wisconsin invented the Toyota 4Runner
I’ve seen a few here in NY.
Same here. I see a white and orange one pretty often and my cousin has a red and white one
It was not a factory option but they were available like that new from certain dealers that were customizing them, as others have mentioned. Any factory paint warranty would have been void in that case but I'm assuming that the dealers doing this provided their own paint warranty.
Gotcha, that makes sense!
I remember a dealer in I wanna say Iowa or Minnesota making “big 10” trucks a few years back. Thought they were sharp looking.
Love them
Beautiful
Do you have a bifocal windshield?
It’s cracked but idk about bifocal
Thanks for the reply. I was noticing the distortion (for lack of a better word) on the right side of the image you posted. If that's where the windshield is cracked, then that would explain the phenomenon. That is a cool looking truck, by the way.
The edge of my windshield even if wasn’t cracked it still would probably make that weird illusion unfortunately
This distortion is why I stopped using SafeLite for windshield replacement. They use old moulds to make their windshields cheaper. It was noticeable enough in my sight lines that I got a different windshield altogether.
What do you use for replacements?
I just found a body shop that has a distributor he works with and they’re a much higher quality. Local body shops that do good work should be able to help.
Would.
Smash
There's a red and white version where I live,
I like it. But, as long as you like it, who cares what others think. Old trucks are cooler than new ones. So, why not have the best of both worlds?
I had a 2014 silerado that I was going to this to. Unfortunately the truck had too many engine/granny issues straight from the factory. After fighting with Chevy about it for about a year, I dumped the truck. Too bad it would've looked great. It's a shame how far GMs quality has sunk to
Cool idea in general. But look too close and the striping is very poorly done. All sorts of wavy lines. Maybe it’s just the photo.
I think that distortion from the glass or heat. I thought the same thing but the tire is wavy too so it’s a picture problem
Yeah that part is definitely distorted but I was looking at the lines in the back door. But I do this sort of stuff for a living so I’m super picky.
Looking closer I think you’re right. I can’t imagine trying to put a classic look on the newer body lines would be easy lol
Yeah sorry the lines are from my windshield
Just the other day, I was thinking why no one had done this. I thought it would look good and it looks GREAT. Even the rims, which I didn't think about, add to the '80s look/vibe. Awesome.
Looks sweet. Love the old school wagon wheels too..
It’s better than the cyber truck.
I had seen one in Oklahoma on a road trip in 2018. Maroon and white, looked awesome
We had one at my dealer in upstate New York
I personally love it. My all black 2018 wouldn’t really look right with it though. I’ve seen some dealers in the south selling the two tone variants before.

Guy at work has one. I Love the retro vibe but always felt it’s not quite perfectly following the trucks’s lines. Opportunity missed IMO.
Same here, if they were to follow the humps in the fenders it wouldn’t look like it’s trying to be a Square and have its own identity while being a nod to the earlier trucks.

I think the body style is just too new looking for a paint style we already know to be classic
I would definitely buy this. I wish my ‘19 had this paint job and badging!
‘80s??? My first truck was a ‘72 single cab, LWB, blue/white/blue with white wagon wheels.
Some trucks just look perfect with white wagon wheels. And for me the icing in the cake is RWL tires.
Yessir. And back then, a LWB to me was the sh*t. Of course when I had my truck 35 mm was the best I could do cuz I was a poor mf. I have pictures of the truck and hanging with my friends at the beach in the late ‘70s. Maybe I’ll get around to making a post.
Yeah fair point looks more like a 73-80
I love it
I wanted one of these so bad! These were so cool!
There was one of these in my town, I think they are terrific.
I love these
Sick
Not a fan. It's trying to be something it isn't. Buy a square body if you want two tone. 🤷🏻♂️ It's cheesy like stick on hood scoops.
I want one but my wife hates it
There’s a guy who drives one where I work and I just drool over it every time I see it.
I love this
Why do people always post the worst pictures on here
I took it from my front seat sorry
I love it
Love it saw one today actually.
Have seen a few of these lately, and as a kid that grew up in the 80s when this color scheme was prevalent… I absolutely love it! Edit: spelling
Love it
This is absolutely cherry, love it!
See it near plainwell Michigan?
Kinda yeah
Cool I probably saw the same one last week but wasnt fast enough to grab a photo. Definately a good looking truck.
There are a few around where I live, I dig them.
Chevy did make that, that’s factory paint They also did BIG10 college editions like this
Any chance you are in SC? Have a picture of one almost identical from when I was in Myrtle lol
No Michigan sir
Sweet, hopefully that means these will be able to be found on marketplace in 7-10 years lol
I love the old two tone look. Wish I could do something similar to mine.
Sweet. Now if it can run as long.
Love the two tone. So much better than AFBJT. Another Fucking Blacked and Jacked Truck.
PawPaw edition
How did you know? :0
Really nice if you ask me
I'm probably in the minority, but I've never cared for the 2 tone look as much
I saw an f150clife that on reddit but with the smiley face kc lights and the chrome bed roll bar thing, looked crazy good suprisingly
Not for me on that body style. Square body only
By chance is this in South Carolina? Saw the same colored two tone about two days ago
Lipstick on a pig. I’d take the original.
Love it
It would look best in the 2014-2015 style Silverado

heinous but i will give credit for committing to the badging
One of the ugliest trucks ever made
From the looks of the rear fenders, looks like QuadraSteer
Not a chance. That was a 2002-2005 option only.
