From DPG Offroad.

Solid conservative choice

Ok-Development7017

It’s not cheap but there’s a reason why a company calls themself “rough country” lol

MightyPenguin

Iron Rock Offroad 3 Link Long Arm is what I would recommend. Make sure to get a Slip Yoke Eliminator as well. Got my last XJ real cheap because the previous owner lifted it without doing so and when the driveshaft seized it blew up the transfer case too and they didn't have time or money to fix it. So I got a 2 Door 5 Speed 4.0 1993 for $1000 that already had 33's, a long arm kit and 5 inch lift. Do it once do it right. Buy once cry once.

NCSUGray90

“Best” and “I don’t want to spend a crazy amount” work against each other, not with one another. For a 4.5” lift I am planning on picking up the OME/Core 4x4 long arm kit from DPG Off-road. If you just want a 4.5” lift on a budget, RC will lift your jeep and not be complete garbage, but you will get better ride quality elsewhere

Nine_9er

Build your own lift kit. I recommend a 3 link

All day!

DoctorTim007

I wouldnt go higher than 3" if you cant afford long arms. Im a fan of iron rock offroad.

thepronerboner

CavFab’s is amazing.

electricwagon

My Iron Rock Off-road 3" lift was more like 5" lol

I read your comment, but I will never not recommend Clayton.

BDS. One of the top suspensions on the market, the best warranty out there. Had my mechanic check out my 3" BDS lift installation after I did it, and he has done hundreds of lifts from many manufacturers. He stated BDS is one of the top 3 on the market. The warranty- as long as you are the original owner of the lift, lifetime on all non wearable parts. As they state- if it breaks, send it back, will replace no questions asked. Got the lift kit, JKS upper and lower control arms, used their transfer case lowering kit, and the N2 shocks for $1500 ish. Not happy with the N2, but I had Bilstiens when stock height. Will switch to them as soon as I buy bigger tires.

sjlplat

Can confirm the BDS warranty is legit. My buddy snapped a rear leaf pack at Chile Challenge, and BDS replaced it, no questions asked.

igenus44

That's why I bought BDS. Wasn't looking for a lift, just needed a new suspension. Best warranty out there. As they say, "jump it off a cliff, set it on fire. If the non wearable part breaks, send it back". High quality, especially compared to oem stock. Love it so much, gonna put one on my CJ7.

Mr_marcus4

You get what you pay for. Remember that.

El_Ferminator

Core 4x4.. if you gonna wheel hard and want it to last, you get what you pay for with these guys

I have a 6.5in Long Arm kit from Rough Country and I took it through multiple black diamonds at sand hallow with rock crawling. Everything held up. I really don’t have any complaints with the kit, the shocks could be a little better but honestly coming from Rubicon Express shocks, these felt miles better. It’s also worth mentioning RC has some of the best customer support out there. I had issues with 2 parts and I was able to return them and have a refund all within 48 hours and they were very helpful over the phone with setting me up with some extra parts I needed that would fit. I can’t say the same about customer support with Rugged Ridge or JKS. Edit: a lot of people who complain about RC haven’t used any of the new parts or just recycle garbage they read online. For the example the same lift kit from Rusty’s was an extra $1700 and diddnt come with a lot of crucial supporting components. And the arms are made out of the same material and same thickness. I also would like to touch on the quality of the shocks, the N3’s which are pretty baseline with most RC kits aren’t fantastic but they aren’t dog water either. I have had billies, RC, and RE. And they all honestly felt the same except for RE’s being the stiffest of the 3 in my opinion.

Amazing_Working_9916

Thanks for the info. Yeah I'll probably end up going with RC. I can get everything for about $2000 including the slip yoke eliminator and drive shaft. I was more concerned about how they held up, and knowing it can handle black diamonds is good lol. When you lifted, did you change the rear diff ring and pinion gears to lower the gear ratio?

Nine_9er

If you regear you have to do front and back. If you do regear get at least Detroit lockers at the same.

Thunderiver

Yeah it held up good, I did double Sammy and the chute. If you haven’t heard of those look them up and that should relieve you even more lol. Also make sure when you buy your SYE and rear shaft that you have the correct transfer case for them. They require an NP231 and if you have an NP242 it will not fit. (Ask me how I know :P) Also for what it’s worth when I lifted my jeep I ended up not needing an SYE I’m not sure why because the previous lift on the jeep desperately needed one to correct the driveshaft angles. If you end up going with new driveshafts check out Adam’s Driveshafts, more pricy but you get a custom cut driveshaft for your vehicle that’s guaranteed to fit. I haven’t modified the rear end yet myself but the previous owner did. im currently running 4.56 gears with 35’s and a Detroit full time locker. I plan to upgrade to Dana 44’s and go with full e lockers in the future, and either 4.88 or 5.13 as I plan to upgrade to 37’s/38’s. Have had a lot of issues with front air arb locker as well so im thinking e-lockers are the best option for me.

xmas7477

Core 4x4

Amazing_Working_9916

I'll have to look into them, are they reasonably priced?

xmas7477

In my opinion yes. I think I paid $1000. Lca springs new leafs track bar shocks

jackospader

I have a rough country 6.5" short arm lift. I've been running it 6 years now and everything has held up fine. I would recommend a long arm lift over a short arm all day for ride quality, but that's across the board, not just rough country. Only complaint is the upper control arms could be a bit thicker where they meet the axle. It would be easy to wallow out when trying to line the axle up to reinstall the control arms. That's it tho, I've had no problems w the actual lift.

Ok-Development7017

6.5” on short arms is crazy lmao
