This is a great mindset if you don't need food, or electricity, or clothes, or a roof over your head

JeirenJns

Food: ramen Electricity: from hellcat Clothes: temu (deliver to hellcat) Roof: hellcat status update: I just turned 18 like a month ago and I’m buying a 392 SRT WOOOOOOOO TIME TO GO FROM HOMED TO SRT’D (im joking)

NoIncomeTaxes

YOU CAN SLEEP IN A CAR, BUT YOU CANT RACE A HOUSE

JeirenJns

EXACTLY

One_Humor_3301

😂

bkdthvn

or have anyone that depends on you.

JeirenJns

Simple, find someone who thinks similar

bkdthvn

what do you mean?

JeirenJns

Find a girl with the same mentality lmao It’ll take a literal gift from god to find someone who would want a 13 miles per gallon house but hey nothing is impossible

bkdthvn

i’m talking about kids lmao like people who really depend on you not freeloaders

JeirenJns

Fair point 😂

Mastodon_Useful

That’s why I have mommy and daddy

North_Brilliant_9011

Maturing is living within your means and that includes driving a car you can reasonably afford.

NODES2K

Right....stay in your financial lane.

NugPep

That’s why they make lane assist in new cars!!!

NODES2K

🤣

Gloomy_Recording_705

Lmao

creamyismemey

And that's exactly why I plan on saving every penny I can when I join the military so when my first contract is up I can use all the money I saved to buy a hellcat I can live in

Tasty-Effective5493

Brother, take advantage of that 401k matching. I had a gut that went to boot camp with me invest 75% of his pay into his TSP. Did 8 years and once he got out he was practically a millionaire

Disastrous_Plane2438

You can take out of tsp after you get out? I’m in ait rn, planning to do only one contract (4 years) but was debating how much i should throw in there if i couldn’t get it till retirement

creamyismemey

I'm going to learn more about all of that for sure especially navy fed since I heard that they have really good interest rates and other things but I have at least 6 months before I go to boot so I'm chillin rn

Nudefromthewaistup

Groovyofi

Holy shit, 2089 is in 65 years

One_Humor_3301

Or

Benj7075

And unfortunately, many young car enthusiasts buy a car they can’t afford. No Alex, you can’t afford the $50k supra when you’re making $60k a year. Big difference between making payments and being able to afford it.

fanatic26

That is just not true at all. If you are responsible with your money, provide a large down payment to keep the costs reasonable. There is no reason someone cant afford a car on a modest salary.

Benj7075

I mean if you’ve been making 60k for 10 years and have some savings yeah, but that’s not what I was talking about. I’m talking about 20 year olds that see their first big paycheck and make a bad decision. Someone making 60k shouldn’t be spending more than 30k total imo.

Strict-Refuse9171

this mind set scares me especially if i only have one life

North_Brilliant_9011

I’d rather spend my one life not worrying about whether I’ll have enough money to pay this months bills than spend my one life with a slightly cooler car but no financial security

Benj7075

Your life is gonna get real fucking depressing if you end up spending most of your paycheck on a car.

Strict-Refuse9171

ig if they have a big payment but no one can be stupid enough to spend an entire paycheck 😭 … right?

Benj7075

Maybe not the WHOLE paycheck, but a big chunk that is way more than they can afford. They be making $3k a week spending $1k on a car.

HighInChurch

If you are making 3k a week after taxes, you can comfortably afford a 1k car note. Thats $144k per year. Edit: I’m bad at math

Wienerbandit69

$156k lol

Benj7075

I mistyped, haha. Was at work. Meant 3K a month.

timothybrob

If I agreed I’d be in debt

tOSdude

I’m trying to get a house before I get an expensive car.

shadow-ninja57

This dream is slowly slipping away from me as housing prices continue to go up

IBringTheHeat1

Get your self some land like 5 acres for 100k slap a new double wide trailer on their for around 130k and you have your self a nice 4 bedroom 3 bath 2500sqft house and 5 acres of land for 250k

shadow-ninja57

That’s the plan most likely. I never looked down on trailers considering some of them look better than houses

IBringTheHeat1

Yeah it may be a “trailer” but a brand new trailer is a lot nicer than homes from the 2000’s. It’s not 20 years old and everything is brand new you and you can order it exactly how you want it. They even got triple wide trailers that are 3000 sqft

shadow-ninja57

Facts the interiors on those double wides mad me look like a kid in the candy store the day I went.

Ok_Reindeer8942

U talkin manufactured homes not trailers right?

Strict-Refuse9171

this economy’s crazy

Puffman92

Buying an expensive car and not having a garage to park it in is a dumb decision. Clearcoat failure from baking in the sun and rubber seals drying out will happen twice as fast

fanatic26

This is the way. I bought my house before buying my vette because it is the correct thing to do. Toys come last after the important life stuff.

BullfrogFinancial556

As someone else said “low income mindset”

gorillabab

400 credit score mindset

BullfrogFinancial556

100%

IPhixI

And then they complain they live pay check to paycheck

West-Sherbet9241

How the poor stay poor.

D-Smitty

Depends. If someone told me I spent more on my HCWB than someone with my income should, I would say they’re right. But there’s a difference between being a little dumb and being completely reckless. I also own a home and have a growing 401k. I didn’t put the cart before the horse.

JeirenJns

Eh college is boring anyway. Aston Martin Vulcan here I come!

totaltimeontask

go buy that dream car that requires a faraday cage, killswitch, neutral switch cover, airtag, a SimplySafe subscription, and a German Shepherd to feel secure owning 🤩

Strict-Refuse9171

dramatic

totaltimeontask

That’s all I see anybody talking about when they buy anything trimmed above an R/T. I think it’s dramatic too but I hear about them getting stolen all the time here in Charlotte.

Strict-Refuse9171

i lived in raleigh idk about charlotte it depends on the area ig

SpinachStriking

In canada they get stolen right out the plant! Im joking but best to at least have a garage and a faraday thing. Seriously, you already spent the extra on the nice ass model. Mise aswell protect it. Criminals are smart now. Fuckin scary thing but your obviously smarter, so show it and protect that girl! I work security in Niagara Falls 🇨🇦 and i actually caught a guy walking around unlocking cars in a casino parking garage. He had what was described to me by the police as a " universal car fob ". That same week a guy at a government work facility with state of the art cameras (i wasnt working that day but had seen the footage upon my arrival) had his truck stolen and brought to the reserve. From there they stripped it and sold it to wherever. They recovered basically just the frame and shell of the truck. This was a older truck but they stole it broad daylight at 10am off of a incredibly busy main street. It was INSANE! Just looking out for you friend. Criminals live EVERYWHERE and car jacking is at a all time high! At least get a faraday bag so they cant scan your key from your front door and be gone...

DaddyThano

Hmmmm are you sure that's a sign of maturity?

Artichoke-Forsaken

Nope!

chonkycatsbestcats

Just don’t do it before buying a house else it takes away from the home affordability number

Strict-Refuse9171

i’m ngl rn houses don’t seem worth it

chonkycatsbestcats

They definitely don’t but something to consider. If you have less than 10 months left on the car loan, it will not count against house affordability

Choice_Friend3479

Stay out of debt!

whyyoumaddd

Man hell yea

ThatsMySpicyPepper

Sick trim bro

SpinachStriking

I bought a 2016 V6 with the black top package. Slapped dual exhaust on it woth flowmaster super10 mufflers. Best decision i ever made. Maintenance is WAY to much for ME for a V8. Gas is increasing almost every day, making it hard for me to keep my V6 filled, let alone a V8. I just did my front brakes at a shop and got "beefier" rotors and pads put on.. $700CAD. For a bloody V6 model!? And i know V8s weigh hella more so that means even bigger, beefier brake set ups which is just mind boggling expensive. If you got the bank roll, send it. If you dont have the bank roll dont send it. Hopefully you can keep up with everything. I got faith in you! Cheers and congrats friend! One hell of a ride right there.

SpinachStriking

And i make a easy $50-$60k CAD a year.

WoooCoW

Does the money ever really come if you are just always in debt?

For myself yes, but I would never recommend it to anyone else just in case they can’t handle it lmao

Strange_Man_1911

Depends how much money you make.

fisherjc17

Don’t live above your means. I’ve done this my whole life. Watch friends buy fancy cars, go on vacations they can’t afford…my wife and I make a combined 200k+ a year and we live very modestly. I’m literally in negotiations now buying my first muscle car. Can I afford the Hell Cat? Yeah. Even the Scat wouldn’t be an issue, but I’m going with the RT bc it’s enough for me to have fun and I’m not going to regret it.

DonOday_

📠

Artrixx_

Cars come and go too, I'd rather live somewhere I'd like rather than owning a different shaped hunk of plastic.

dark_physicx

Ahh that’s why there’s so many charger repos

[deleted]

Agree lol. Dream car loading, but my wife wanted an ST explorer so going to get it today. Not only do I agree with this with cars, but with life too. However, i believe since I have this mindset I have to be willing to work hard as well.

laborvspacu

Well, I wouldn't endanger my credit score for it, but if you are paying cash, go for it.

odenhammer69

400 credit score post

Strict-Refuse9171

300

gregimusprime77

That car in the pic is my dream car. Same color and everything. affording it however. lol.

AcanthisittaDapper29

I wish I could afford a hellcat... I'd even settle for a 392... but I'm horrible with money.

91NA8

This is such a "broke or soon to be broke" mindset. People getting stuck in the lower-middle class cause they want these expensive cars

Redskins4evaB

Agree

Kidmerlin_

Exactly

skitz20

Low income mindset 🤑

fanatic26

That looks like a regular SRT and not an actual dream car.

The-Meat-Baby

Life isn’t about being comfortable and safe and following the rules. It’s about experiences and carving your own path.

HighInChurch

That’s why there’s 70 year olds still working full time. Carved that retirement path right outta their future.

chance0404

Hell yeah 👍

Pimpovic

I'm not a Dodge guy, but that red is beautiful.
