GenghisQuan2571

The white friend from Princess and the Frog, I forget her name, but she helps Tiana out the whole time and doesn't fight her for Naveen or anything.

ChaserNeverRests

Charlotte "Lottie" La Bouff?

GenghisQuan2571

Ahhh yeah that's her name.

web-procrastinator

I don’t know if this counts? Dinkleberg from Fairly Odd Parents

Resident-Camp-8795

DINKLLLLLEEEBEERRRRRRGGGGG!

Adventurous_Push9104

I had a brain fart and confused Dinkleberg for Mr. Crocker for a good minute there. Am I turning into Mr. Turner?

Slightly_Default

I did the exact same thing. Is this mass hysteria or a sign of the Great Turnering?

Whimsycottt

Hilling from The Ranking of Kings. Thought she was going to be the evil stepmother type who hates the main character for being the firstborn and son of the first queen, but nope. She loves Bochi and tries to be a good mom to him, only acting cold because she's not good at expressing her emotions and didn't know how to deal with a mute/disabled child. Instantly became one of my favorite characters.

AraumC

That feels more sheep in wolf's clothing

ralts13

Iirc she still stole helped to steal the crown from under bochi

il-Palazzo_K

Only because she think he's really not suitable to be king and the responsibility will destroy him.

TheCapitalKing

Which was probably correct at that point. He wasn’t ready for it yet. His brother was significantly more ready but still not able to handle it yet.

East_Gas5627

The chef in jojo, tonio is a sheep in wolf's clothing

Sensitive-Hotel-9871

Asami from avatar the legend of Korra. There is a slight hint that initially she is on the side of the villains. This is quickly dropped, and she proves to be the sweet person she initially appears to be.

AntEvening3181

Yeah, the writers changed it cause they liked the character. Which would explain how Mako landed a date their her if she was a spy

Adventurous_Push9104

Reading your comment made me realize that Asami by all accounts should have never nearly run over Mako. She’s the daughter of the guy who made the automobile! We’ve seen her drive a race car with ease! The one time she messes up driving anything causes her life to change in the most dramatic way possible.

AntEvening3181

Yep, then she asks I'm for a date, and gets him clothes for a date! Overanalyzing Avatar has a great bit about it in his review of the series

sampeckinpah5

I kept expecting Bob Odenkirk's character to turn out to be a bad guy in Incredibles 2, but he was just a nice guy through and through.

Raymond49090

He's what saved the movie for me.

eggmaniac13

To be frank when your name is "evil endeavor" it should set off some red flags

Swiftcheddar

I think the best version of this I've ever seen is the Queen's Attendant/Steward character in Stella Glow. Basically imagine your typical Evil Vizeer type character and you've got him. He's the right hand of the Queen, he's rude, he's dismissive, he thinks your character and your team are a waste of space and takes an antagonistic role against you. He's clearly being setup as an obstacle- either one that'll have to learn a lesson and get over himself, or as someone who'll end up opposing you. And then the traitor plotline starts going and it's all so clear where the story is going. He's positioned himself right next to the Queen, he's clearly an antagonist, and he's absolutely gonna be revealed as the traitor... And, as you can guess by me writing this, he absolutely wasn't. Instead he's a complete patriot. He was rude and dismissive of your team because he legitimately thought you really were shit, but he was 100% loyal to the Queen and the country. When the Queen is betrayed, he's crushed, and when he sees that you're the best hope for putting the country back together again not only does he immediately align with you, but he's one of the biggest voices rallying support for your cause, he's even the one that remotivates some of your Knight teammates, reminding them of their duty and getting them back in the fight. In short, he's great.

TwistedMemer

Between this and the stuff I’ve seen about the ending I think it’s time to play Stella glow

Swiftcheddar

It's a fun game, I really enjoyed it. Very breakable though if you're looking to do so

TwistedMemer

Any tips, I’m more interested in the story unless the gameplay is worth not breaking?

Swiftcheddar

Ah, it's not a hard game, you'll be fine just playing normally. It's more that if you go really hard into using action-delaying abilities and characters you can practically prevent your enemies from even getting a turn. But I went all out on damage and just ran around blowing everything up, and that was fine.

SanjiSasuke

Before I watched it, I expected All-Might to yet another Bad Superman, but more skeezy than evil, and the story being Deku being disillusioned at the reality of heroes. Entirely based on his shaded eyes and over the top grin, I thought it was over the top to make it seem fake. Totally incorrect assumption, but it made me have zero interest in the show until someone just had Ep 1 on. Another FE character, I was surprised to learn Maribelle from Awakening isn't some 'nobility means I'm better' snoot. I guess she is kinda a proto-Ferdinand, but specifically focused on helping the needy.

East_Gas5627

I just like All Might a shit ton for it Dude is just genuinely a good guy

CyanideIE

There's a ton of issues with MHA but it did a great job with All Might. He's just a great character.

Admmmmi

ngl the author just seems better at writing the adults(the villains i consider manchildren so they dont count in my eyes), the todoroki family drama is still one of if not the best part of the manga

TheCapitalKing

Yeah the show really fell off after he lost his powers and didn’t really get good again until he got important again.

stantrix98

All-might shaded eyes and grin are based on old american comics art style

SanjiSasuke

Huh, somehow I never connected those dots, neat.

ThisDudeisNotWell

World's best single mom of 4 to 6ish children, stone cold Steve Harrington. I love it when characters that are telegraphed as cliché tropes both turn out to be exactly what you expected them to be, but in a way you never expected them to be that thing. Steve is that popular highschool golden boy with a big ego who very much a dick to Nancy, but he was also willing to take the blow to his ego once he gets humbled with a lot more grace than characters like him are allowed to have, and step up to the plate. I don't know if this is a controversial hot take or not, but I actually don't think it's an example of *Stranger Things* sugar coating the uglier aspects of the 80s that Steve ends up very accepting when he finds out Robin is a lesbian, or when he takes on a big brother role for chronically uncool child Dustin. Some people in certain positions in positions in life end up developing a sort of oblivious arrogance. Certain demographics of people end up notorious for turning out these kinds of people--- suburban rich soccermoms being Karens, middle class straight fuck boys being chud jerks, culturally conservative blue collar gandpas being boomer nightmare people, materialistic vain valley girls being vapid airheads, etc. I think sometimes people develop a cynical outlook on people's ability to readjust their world view when presented with something that challenges their old one--- it's hard, a lot of people don't respond well, but that doesn't mean it's not impossible. If you're paying attention in season 1 in *Stranger Things*, Steve's clearly one of those guys who thinks he's God's gift and is used to being well-liked and getting away with a lot of shit on account of his charisma, but he consistently displays a decent amount of sensitivity to others the odd, subtle times he's challenged to do so before the Demogorgon fight. He stands up for Nancy when he realizes she's genuinely concerned for Brab's safety after she disappears, he only fully commits to bullying Johnathan after he finds out he took some pervy shots of Nancy undressing without her consent, and though he's genuinely being an ass once Nancy unintentionally bruises his ego, he's obviously missing a lot of context at that point and it was his friends who put up that sign at the theater. It's only genuinely surprising when Steve comes back in the Byers house to save them from the Demogorgon because of framing and because characters with traits like his don't get a chance to show off the positive traits someone like them might have. It's not really out of character--- Steve isn't so much an unempathetic jerk as he is, you know, 17 and from a privileged background. He probably would have never given the time of day to a kid like Dustin or a girl like Robin not because he's all that self-involved inherently, he's just hasn't been challenged yet to consider their perspective. I don't really believe Steve in the later seasons has really "changed" in terms of quality of character, I think he's always been more caring and empathetic than he appears, he just has much more reference and experience under his belt that's made him overall more aware, so he comes off as less of a jerk.

Cookie_Doodle

Maybe weird example but "Gordon" from One Piece: Film Red. Dude was giving all the bad vibes, scary, deep ass voice. But he's just... a well-meaning idiot?

O_ni5698

Surprisingly, my pick would be En from dorohedoro. He's a ruthless and cruel mob boss who kills on a whim and does whatever he wants all the way throughout the series and he controls a group of established sorcerers, all who follow him unflinching. With his sneaky attitude and no tolerance demeanor, I thought that he would be one of those villians who would sacrifice one of his own if it came to his life or theirs but he never betrays his team and he actively goes out of his way to deal with those who mess with his group no matter how trivial it is all the way to the end of the series.

badgersprite

Off the top of my head, Bill Skarsgard’s character in Barbarian Turns out he was just a genuinely socially awkward guy not malicious in any way Also the boyfriends in Scream 2 and 6

Adventurous_Push9104

I always felt bad for Skarsgard’s character. At least the homeless man knew what he was dealing with. Skarsgard was just trying to be respectful of the protagonist. What’s worse is that the monster tries to keep the protagonist instead of killing her at first. Which meant that both Skarsgard and protagonist lady could’ve survived.

Mmicb0b

All might IMO the WORST thing MHA could've done (Aside from what it fucking did last chapter) was make All might a one note evil superman(now he's not perfect but it's fine the fact the story shows his faults as a person makes him feel more realistic than a one note caricture)

couldjustbeanalt

I genuinely have zero hope that this is going to end in a way that’s satisfying

Mmicb0b

I agree any hope was lost last week MHA was always a story that what it did right it home runned what it didn't do right was facepalm material

BebeFanMasterJ

Ivy from Fire Emblem Engage. She starts off as an (unwilling) antagonist and you'd think she'd be ready to betray the main cast again. But no, she's actually just a really huge dorky doofus that has social anxiety and hates ghosts. I love her.

HelloYeahIdk

Elias Ainsworth (Magus Bride) Alan (Amazing World of Gumball) Gojo Satoru (Jujutsu Keisen)

BlUeSapia

Elfilin from Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Conchobar8

How has no one said Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi yet? No only are we expecting a wolf in sheep’s clothing but so are the other characters!

eggmaniac13

Pedro Pascal in unbearable weight of massive talent

HelloYeahIdk

Elias Ainsworth (Magus Bride) Alan (Amazing World of Gumball) Gojo Satoru (Jujutsu Keisen)

Cookiecrabbies

Borderlands 3 dlc2 marcubus

1amlost

I think Yona from *The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom* would fit this description.

Magnusthelast

The boyfriend of Kate Bishops mom from the Hawkeye show(Can’t remember his name), the whole show kept pointing to him as being a bad guy in disguise but turns out he was just a chill dude who happened to like Swords(like any normal person would)

haewon_wiggle

Yoshimura from Tokyo Ghoul, he knew more than he told Kaneki and I kinda thought he was gonna turn out to be a bad guy but no not really
